تلل
Attested forms : تَلَّهُۥ 1
Core meaning
To lay a body down on the ground, in a single gesture that sets it in position.
Uses
تَلَّهُۥ → "to lay down" : Ibrahim's gesture over his son, at the moment of the trial.
- «وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ» — "and he had laid him down on his temple" (37:103)
Evidence from the text
The word occurs only once, and the scene is enough to read it. The son has said "do what you are commanded" (37:102); both become true to God, the father lays him down on his forehead, and the call comes at once: the gesture stops there (37:103-105). The word says the laying down, nothing more.
