جرر
Attested forms : يَجُرُّهُۥٓ 1
Core meaning
To draw toward oneself a body one is holding, in a continuous movement.
Uses
يَجُرُّ → "to drag" : the grip prolonged into traction: one seizes, then draws toward oneself.
- «وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِ يَجُرُّهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِ» — "and seized his brother by the head, dragging him toward himself" (7:150)
Evidence from the text
The only use follows Moussa's return to his people who had taken the calf: he throws down the Tablets, seizes his brother by the head and drags him toward himself (7:150). The verb prolongs the gesture of seizing: the grip becomes traction, and anger passes into the body before it passes into words.
