To cut clean and without remainder: what follows on without interruption until everything is cut off.

Uses

1. حُسُومًا → "in succession" : days that follow one another without respite, like a continuous cut.

   • «سَبْعَ لَيَالٍۢ وَثَمَٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًۭا» — "for seven nights and eight days in succession" (69:7)

Evidence from the text

The sole use qualifies the wind sent against the Aad: a counted time, seven nights and eight days, with no interval of rest, at the end of which nothing remains of them (69:7-8). The word states less the duration than its edge: each day cuts in turn after the one before.
