حطب
Attested forms : حَطَبًۭا 1 · ٱلْحَطَبِ 1
Core meaning
The wood one carries to the fire to feed it.
Uses
ٱلْحَطَب, حَطَبًا → "firewood" : fuel: carried by a woman toward the fire that awaits her, or become what the deviant are for Jahannam.
Evidence from the text
Both uses bind the wood to the fire. In 72:15, those who deviated from the just measure have themselves become the fuel of Jahannam. In 111:4, the wife named in the previous verse, "He will burn in a fire of flame, and his wife as well" (111:3), is the one who ceaselessly carries the firewood: what she carries feeds the fire she will enter.
