سنم
Attested forms : تَسْنِيمٍ 1
Core meaning
What rises above: proper name of a spring of the Garden, Tasnim, from which those brought near drink.
Uses
تَسْنِيم → "Tasnim" : the spring from which the mixture is drawn, and where those brought near drink.
- «وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ عَيْنًۭا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ» — "And its blend is of Tasnim, a spring from which those brought near drink" (83:27)
Evidence from the text
The name has a single use, and the verse defines it at once: a spring, from which those brought near drink (83:27-28). What the virtuous drink receives a mixture of it; those brought near drink from the spring itself. The name thus keeps the elevation of its root: the highest spring, for the nearest.
