Sealed qms 6 occurrences

6 occurrences · 1 suras · first occurrence 12:18

Attested forms :

Core meaning

The tunic: the garment worn on the body, whose state, in the account of Youssof, serves as proof.

Uses

  1. قَمِيص → "his shirt", "shirt of mine" : Youssof's garment, three times brought forward as proof.

They brought his shirt stained with lying blood" (12:18)
If his shirt is torn from the front, she speaks truly" (12:26)
Go with this shirt of mine" (12:93)

Evidence from the text

All six uses are in the account of Youssof, and the shirt speaks there three times. Stained with lying blood, it serves the brothers' lie (12:18). Torn from behind, it clears Youssof, by the rule set by a man of her family (12:26-28). Cast upon the father's face, it gives him back his sight: "he will regain his sight" (12:93).
