لذذ
Attested forms : لَذَّةٍۢ 1 · تَلَذُّ 1 · لَّذَّةٍۢ 1
Core meaning
What is delicious: the pleasure one tastes, in drinking or in seeing.
Uses
لَذَّةٍۢ, لَّذَّةٍۢ → "delightful", "delicious" : the drink of the Garden, delicious for whoever drinks it.
وَتَلَذُّ → "to delight" : the pleasure of the eyes.
- «وَتَلَذُّ ٱلْأَعْيُنُ» — "and whatever the eyes relish" (43:71)
Evidence from the text
The same formula twice qualifies the drink of the Garden: the cup "delightful for those who drink it", without headache or intoxication (37:46), and the wine of the rivers "delicious to those who drink" (47:15). In 43:71 the verb passes from the mouth to the eyes: beside what the Self desires, there is what the eyes relish.
