وصب
Attested forms : اصِبًا 1 · اصِبٌ 1
Core meaning
To last without interruption.
Uses
وَاصِبًا → "permanently" : the Law that belongs to God without suspension.
- «وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًا» — "and to Him the Law, permanently" (16:52)
وَاصِبٌ → "unceasing" : the punishment that knows no pause.
- «وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ» — "and they have an unceasing punishment" (37:9)
Evidence from the text
Both occurrences qualify what is not interrupted. In 16:52, the Law belongs to God "permanently", right after "To Him belongs what is in the heavens and on the earth": sovereignty and the Law that flows from it are never suspended. In 37:9, the punishment of those who try to steal a hearing of heaven is "unceasing": the same continuity, applied to the sentence.
