ياجوج
Attested forms : يَأْجُوجَ 1 · يَأْجُوجُ 1
Core meaning
Proper name of a people, always named with Majuj: a pair that sows corruption on the earth and that, one day, is opened.
Uses
يَأْجُوجَ, يَأْجُوجُ → "Yajuj" : the name is kept as it is, always first in the pair "Yajuj and Majuj".
Evidence from the text
Both occurrences name Yajuj with Majuj, never alone. In 18:94, people complain of them to Dhul-Qarnayn and ask him for a barrier between them and this pair that sows corruption. In 21:96, the barrier gives way: Yajuj and Majuj are opened, they come swarming down "from every height", and the true promise draws near. The text says nothing of their origin; the translation keeps the name as it is.
