Core meaning

Milk: the drink that livestock give, and that the Garden promises unspoiled.

Uses

1. لَّبَنًا, لَّبَنٍۢ → "milk" : milk drawn from between chyme and blood; the milk of the rivers of the Garden.

   • «لَّبَنًا خَالِصًۭا سَآئِغًۭا لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ» — "a refined milk, pleasant to drink for those who drink it" (16:66)
   • «وَأَنْهَٰرٌۭ مِّن لَّبَنٍۢ لَّمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُۥ» — "rivers of milk whose taste does not change" (47:15)

Evidence from the text

In 16:66, milk comes "from what is in their bellies, between chyme and blood", and yet it is "a refined milk, pleasant to drink". In 47:15, the rivers of the Garden carry one "whose taste does not change". The two uses name the same drink; the second removes what spoils it on earth.
