Fatir

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Praise be to God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, who made the Agents messengers organized into departments — by twos, by threes, by fours.

بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ اِ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ فَاطِرِ اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ جَاعِلِ اِ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلاً أُوْلِے أَجْنِحَةٖ مَّثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَۖ

He adds to creation whatever He wills.

يَزِيدُ فِے اِ۬لْخَلْقِ مَا يَشَآءُۖ

Whatever benevolence God opens up for mankind, none can hold it back,

مَّا يَفْتَحِ اِ۬للَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِن رَّحْمَةٖ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَاۖ

and whatever He holds back, none can release it after Him.

وَمَا يُمْسِكْ فَلَا مُرْسِلَ لَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦۖ

O mankind, remember God's blessing upon you.

يَٰأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ اُ۟ذْكُرُواْ نِعْمَتَ اَ۬للَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْۖ

Is there any creator other than God who provides for you from the sky and the earth?

هَلْ مِنْ خَٰلِقٍ غَيْرُ اُ۬للَّهِ يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَالْأَرْضِۖ

There is no deity but Him.

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ

And if they deny you, messengers before you were already denied.

وَإِنْ يُّكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٞ مِّن قَبْلِكَۖ

O mankind, God's promise is indeed true.

يَٰأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اَ۬للَّهِ حَقّٞۖ

So do not let the present life delude you,

فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ اُ۬لْحَيَوٰةُ اُ۬لدُّنْيَاۖ

The Diverter is indeed an enemy to you: so take him as an enemy.

إِنَّ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنَ لَكُمْ عَدُوّٞ فَاتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوّاًۖ

Those who disown will have a severe punishment,

اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞۖ

The one to whom the evil of his deed has been made appealing, so that he sees it as beautiful?

۞ أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ فَرَءَاهُ حَسَناٗۖ

For God indeed leads astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills.

فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَيَهْدِے مَنْ يَّشَآءُۖ

So let not your Self waste away in desolation over them.

فَلَا تَذْهَبْ نَفْسُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسَرَٰتٍۖ

It is God who has sent the winds, which stir up clouds; We drove them to a dead land, and by them We brought the earth back to life after its death.

وَاللَّهُ اُ۬لذِے أَرْسَلَ اَ۬لرِّيَٰحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَاباٗ فَسُقْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٖ مَّيِّتٖ فَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ اِ۬لْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۖ

Whoever desires might, it is to God that might belongs in its entirety.

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ اُ۬لْعِزَّةَ فَلِلهِ اِ۬لْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعاًۖ

To Him ascends the wholesome word,

إِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ اُ۬لْكَلِمُ اُ۬لطَّيِّبُۖ

and the sound deed, He elevates it.

وَالْعَمَلُ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحُ يَرْفَعُهُۥۖ

And those who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment,

وَالذِينَ يَمْكُرُونَ اَ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٞ شَدِيدٞۖ

God created you from earth, then from a drop, then made you into pairs.

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٖ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمْ أَزْوَٰجاٗۖ

No female carries nor gives birth except with His knowledge.

وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِۦۖ

No being has his life extended, nor is his life shortened, except that it is in a record.

وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِن مُّعَمَّرٖ وَلَا يُنقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهِۦ إِلَّا فِے كِتَٰبٍۖ

The two seas are not equal:

وَمَا يَسْتَوِے اِ۬لْبَحْرَٰنِۖ

this one is sweet, fresh, pleasant to drink, and that one is salty, bitter.

هَٰذَا عَذْبٞ فُرَاتٞ سَآئِغٞ شَرَابُهُۥ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٞۖ

And from each you eat fresh flesh, and you extract an ornament that you wear,

وَمِن كُلّٖ تَأْكُلُونَ لَحْماٗ طَرِيّاٗ وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَ حِلْيَةٗ تَلْبَسُونَهَاۖ

He makes the night penetrate into the day, and makes the day penetrate into the night,

يُولِجُ اُ۬ليْلَ فِے اِ۬لنَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ اُ۬لنَّهَارَ فِے اِ۬ليْلِۖ

and He has subjected the sun and the moon,

وَسَخَّرَ اَ۬لشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَۖ

each running to an appointed term.

كُلّٞ يَجْرِے لِأَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىٗۖ

That is God, your Guardian; to Him belongs the dominion.

ذَٰلِكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ اُ۬لْمُلْكُۖ

If you call upon them, they do not hear your call; and even if they heard, they would not respond to you.

إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُواْ دُعَآءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُواْ مَا اَ۪سْتَجَابُواْ لَكُمْۖ

And on the Day of Appearance they will disown your association.

وَيَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكْفُرُونَ بِشِرْكِكُمْۖ

O mankind, it is you who are the poor before God,

۞ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ أَنتُمُ اُ۬لْفُقَرَآءُ اِ۪لَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ

And no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another;

وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰۖ

and if one heavily laden calls for help with his freight, nothing of it will be carried, even by a close relative.

وَإِن تَدْعُ مُثْقَلَةٌ إِلَىٰ حِمْلِهَا لَا يُحْمَلْ مِنْهُ شَےْءٞ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰۖ

You only warn those who dread their Guardian even though He escapes their senses, and maintain the Contact,

إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ اُ۬لذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَيْبِ وَأَقَامُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَۖ

and whoever purifies himself purifies himself only for himself.

وَمَن تَزَكَّىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَتَزَكَّىٰ لِنَفْسِهِۦۖ

Nor are the living and the dead equal.

وَمَا يَسْتَوِے اِ۬لْأَحْيَآءُ وَلَا اَ۬لْأَمْوَٰتُۖ

God indeed makes whoever He wills hear,

إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ يَّشَآءُۖ

We have sent you, in truth, as a bearer of good tidings and a warner.

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيراٗ وَنَذِيراٗۖ

And if they deny you, those before them already denied: their messengers came to them with clear proofs, the Formularies, and the illuminating Scripture; then I seized those who disowned.

وَإِنْ يُّكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ اَ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِالزُّبُرِ وَبِالْكِتَٰبِ اِ۬لْمُنِيرِ ثُمَّ أَخَذتُّ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْۖ

Have you not seen that God sends down water from the sky, by which We bring forth fruits of varying colors?

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ ثَمَرَٰتٖ مُّخْتَلِفاً أَلْوَٰنُهَاۖ

And among mankind, and living beings, and cattle, there is likewise a variety of colors.

وَمِنَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ وَالدَّوَآبِّ وَالْأَنْعَٰمِ مُخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ كَذَٰلِكَۖ

Only those who know, among His obedient ones, dread God.

إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اَ۬للَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ اِ۬لْعُلَمَٰٓؤُاْۖ

Those who recite the Scripture of God, maintain the Contact, and spend, secretly and openly, from what We have provided them, hope for a trade that will never be blighted, so that He may faithfully repay them their rewards and give them more of His favor.

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ يَتْلُونَ كِتَٰبَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَأَقَامُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ سِرّاٗ وَعَلَٰنِيَةٗ يَرْجُونَ تِجَٰرَةٗ لَّن تَبُورَ لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦۖ

And what We have revealed to you of the Scripture is the truth, confirming what came before it.

۞ وَالذِے أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبِ هُوَ اَ۬لْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقاٗ لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِۖ

Then We caused the Scripture to be inherited by those We chose among Our obedient ones:

ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ اَ۬لذِينَ اَ۪صْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَاۖ

among them is one who wrongs himself,

فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٞ لِّنَفْسِهِۦۖ

one who follows a moderate course,

وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٞۖ

and one who races ahead in good deeds, by God's permission.

وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقُۢ بِالْخَيْرَٰتِ بِإِذْنِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ

Gardens of permanence, which they will enter, ornamented therein with bracelets of gold and pearls,

جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٖ يَدْخُلُونَهَا يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٖ وَلُؤْلُؤاٗۖ

And those who disown will have the fire of Jahannam; it will not be decreed for them to die, nor will its punishment be lightened for them.

وَالذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَهُمْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يُقْضَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَمُوتُواْ وَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُم مِّنْ عَذَابِهَاۖ

And there they will shriek: "Our Guardian, bring us out, we will do sound deeds, other than what we used to do!"

وَهُمْ يَصْطَرِخُونَ فِيهَا رَبَّنَا أَخْرِجْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحاً غَيْرَ اَ۬لذِے كُنَّا نَعْمَلُۖ

Did We not grant you a life long enough that whoever wished to remember could remember? And the warner had come to you.

أَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُم مَّا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيهِ مَن تَذَكَّرَ وَجَآءَكُمُ اُ۬لنَّذِيرُۖ

So taste,

فَذُوقُواْۖ

God indeed knows what escapes the senses in the heavens and the earth;

إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَٰلِمُ غَيْبِ اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِۖ

It is He who made you successors on the earth:

هُوَ اَ۬لذِے جَعَلَكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِے اِ۬لْأَرْضِۖ

whoever disowns, his disowning falls back upon him,

فَمَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهُۥۖ

and the disowning of the disowners only increases them in loathing before their Guardian,

وَلَا يَزِيدُ اُ۬لْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا مَقْتاٗۖ

Say: "Have you considered your associates whom you call upon besides God? Show me what they have created of the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens?

قُلْ أَرَٰ۬يْتُمْ شُرَكَآءَكُمُ اُ۬لذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ أَرُونِے مَاذَا خَلَقُواْ مِنَ اَ۬لْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٞ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِۖ

Or have We given them a scripture, so that they rely on clear proofs from it?"

أَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ كِتَٰباٗ فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَٰتٖ مِّنْهُۖ

God indeed holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease to exist;

۞ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُمْسِكُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ أَن تَزُولَاۖ

and were they to cease, none besides Him could hold them.

وَلَئِن زَالَتَا إِنْ أَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ أَحَدٖ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦۖ

And they swore by God, with the utmost strength of their oaths, that if a warner came to them, they would surely be better guided than any of the communities.

وَأَقْسَمُواْ بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٞ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْ إِحْدَى اَ۬لْأُمَمِۖ

growing proud in the land, and evil plotting.

اِ۪سْتِكْبَاراٗ فِے اِ۬لْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ اَ۬لسَّيِّئِےۖ

But evil plotting only envelops its own doers.

وَلَا يَحِيقُ اُ۬لْمَكْرُ اُ۬لسَّيِّۓُ اِ۪لَّا بِأَهْلِهِۦۖ

So do they await anything but the norm of the ancients?

فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ اَ۬لْأَوَّلِينَۖ

But you will never find any change in God's norm,

فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ اِ۬للَّهِ تَبْدِيلاٗۖ

Have they not traveled through the earth and looked at what was the end of those before them, who were yet superior to them in strength?

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُواْ فِے اِ۬لْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَكَانُواْ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةٗۖ

And nothing in the heavens or on the earth could render God powerless.

وَمَا كَانَ اَ۬للَّهُ لِيُعْجِزَهُۥ مِن شَےْءٖ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِے اِ۬لْأَرْضِۖ

And if God were to seize mankind for what they have earned, He would not leave on the surface of the earth any living being;

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُواْ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٖۖ

but He adjourns them until an appointed term.

وَلَٰكِنْ يُّؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىٗۖ
