Al-Muddaththir
Arise and Warn
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O you who are covered in a cloak! Arise and warn,
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ قُمْ فَأَنذِرْand your Guardian, proclaim His greatness,
وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْand your garments, purify,
وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ- 74:5ورش
and defilement, avoid,
وَٱلرُّجْزَ فَٱهْجُرْ and do not confer favor seeking more in return,
وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُand for your Guardian, be patient.
وَلِرَبِّكَ فَٱصْبِرْThen, when the trumpet is sounded, that Day will be a difficult day, not easy for the disowners.
فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِى ٱلنَّاقُورِ فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍۢLeave Me with the one I created alone, and gave him extensive goods, and sons present with him, and spread everything before him, easing his life — then he desires that I should add more. By no means!
ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًۭا وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًۭا مَّمْدُودًۭا وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًۭا وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًۭا ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ كَلَّآIndeed, he has been, toward Our signs, obstinate.
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِءَايَٰتِنَا عَنِيدًۭاI will overburden him with a steep ascent.
سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ صَعُودًاIndeed, he thought and determined. So may he perish, how he determined! Again, may he perish, how he determined! Then he considered; then he frowned and scowled; then he turned back and was arrogant, and said, "This is nothing but illusion passed down; this is nothing but the word of a human."
إِنَّهُۥ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ ثُمَّ نَظَرَ ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ يُؤْثَرُ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا قَوْلُ ٱلْبَشَرِI will make him burn in Saqar.
سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَAnd what will make you know what Saqar is?
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سَقَرُIt leaves nothing and spares nothing,
لَا تُبْقِى وَلَا تَذَرُvisibly altering the skin of humans.
لَوَّاحَةٌۭ لِّلْبَشَرِOver it are nineteen.
عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَAnd We have not made the companions of the Fire except Agents,
وَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلنَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَٰٓئِكَةًۭand We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disown — that those given the Writ may be certain, and those who believe may increase in faith, and those given the Writ and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose cores is a sickness and the disowners may say, "What did God intend by this image?"
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَيَزْدَادَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِيمَٰنًۭا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًۭاThus does God leave astray whom He wills and guide whom He wills.
كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُAnd none knows the soldiers of your Guardian except Him.
وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَAnd it is not but a reminder to humans.
وَمَا هِىَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ- 74:37شعبةالبزيقنبلالدوريالسوسي
By no means! By the moon, and the night as it departs, and the dawn as it shines forth — indeed, it is one of the greatest [things], a warning to humans, to whoever among you wills to advance or to remain behind.
كَلَّا وَٱلْقَمَرِ وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَآ أَسْفَرَ إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى ٱلْكُبَرِ نَذِيرًۭا لِّلْبَشَرِ لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ Every Self is a pledge for what it has earned, except the companions of the right,
كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ إِلَّآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْيَمِينِin gardens, they will ask one another about the severed: "What has led you into Saqar?"
فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ عَنِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِى سَقَرَThey will say, "We were not of those who made contact, nor did we use to feed the destitute, and we used to indulge with those who indulged, and we used to deny the Day of Retribution, until certainty came to us."
قَالُوا۟ لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ ٱلْمِسْكِينَ وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰنَا ٱلْيَقِينُSo there will not benefit them the intercession of any intercessors.
فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَٰعَةُ ٱلشَّٰفِعِينَ- 74:51ورش
So what is with them that they turn away from the reminder, as if they were terrified donkeys, fleeing from a lion?
فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌۭ مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌۭ فَرَّتْ مِن قَسْوَرَةٍۭ Rather, every one of them desires that he would be given scrolls unrolled.
بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُؤْتَىٰ صُحُفًۭا مُّنَشَّرَةًۭBy no means! But they do not fear the last life.
كَلَّا بَل لَّا يَخَافُونَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةَBy no means! Truly, this is a reminder;
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذْكِرَةٌۭso whoever wills may remember it.
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ- 74:56ورشقالون
And they will not remember except that God wills.
وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ He is worthy that one guard oneself before Him, and He is worthy to forgive.
هُوَ أَهْلُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ وَأَهْلُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ
