Yunus
The Abode of Peace
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Alif. Lam. Ra.
بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ أَلَٓر۪ۖ
These are the signs of the Scripture full of wisdom.
تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبِ اِ۬لْحَكِيمِۖ
Is it then a wonder for men that We revealed to a man among them: "Warn mankind,
أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَباً اَنَ اَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنْهُمُۥٓ أَنَ اَنذِرِ اِ۬لنَّاسَۖ
and give good news to those who have believed that they have, with their Guardian, a firm step of veracity"?
وَبَشِّرِ اِ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَنَّ لَهُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْۖ
Those who disown say: "This is surely a manifest illusion."
قَالَ اَ۬لْكَٰفِرُونَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسِحْرٞ مُّبِينٌۖ
Your Guardian is indeed God, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice.
۞ اِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ فِے سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ اَ۪سْتَو۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬لْعَرْشِۖ
He governs the Order.
يُدَبِّرُ اُ۬لَامْرَۖ
No mediator except after His permission.
مَا مِن شَفِيعٍ اِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِذْنِهِۦۖ
That is God, your Guardian.
ذَٰلِكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ رَبُّكُمْۖ
So obey Him.
فَاعْبُدُوهُۖ
Will you not then remember?
أَفَلَا تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ
To Him will be your return, all together.
إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعاٗۖ
A promise of God, in truth,
وَعْدَ اَ۬للَّهِ حَقّاًۖ
for He begins creation, then remakes it, so as to recompense with equity those who believed and did sound deeds.
اِنَّهُۥ يَبْدَؤُاْ اُ۬لْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ لِيَجْزِيَ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ بِالْقِسْطِۖ
As for those who disowned, they will have a drink of boiling water and a painful punishment, for having disowned.
وَالذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَهُمْ شَرَابٞ مِّنْ حَمِيمٖ وَعَذَابٌ اَلِيمُۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْفُرُونَۖ
It is He who made the sun a brightness and the moon a light, and set for it stations, so that you might know the number of years and the reckoning.
هُوَ اَ۬لذِے جَعَلَ اَ۬لشَّمْسَ ضِيَآءٗ وَالْقَمَرَ نُوراٗ وَقَدَّرَهُۥ مَنَازِلَ لِتَعْلَمُواْ عَدَدَ اَ۬لسِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَۖ
God created that only in truth.
مَا خَلَقَ اَ۬للَّهُ ذَٰلِكَ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۖ
He details the signs for a people who know.
نُفَصِّلُ اُ۬لَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٖ يَعْلَمُونَۖ
In the alternation of night and day, and in what God created in the heavens and the earth, there are surely signs for a people who guard themselves.
إِنَّ فِے اِ۪خْتِلَٰفِ اِ۬ليْلِ وَالنَّه۪ارِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اَ۬للَّهُ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوْمٖ يَتَّقُونَۖ
Indeed, those who do not hope for Our meeting, who were content with the present life and were calmed by it, and those who are heedless of Our signs — those are the ones whose resort will be the Fire, for what they used to earn.
إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا وَرَضُواْ بِالْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَاطْمَأَنُّواْ بِهَا وَالذِينَ هُمْ عَنَ اٰيَٰتِنَا غَٰفِلُونَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأْو۪يٰهُمُ اُ۬لنَّارُ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَۖ
Indeed, those who believed and did sound deeds, their Guardian guides them by reason of their faith.
إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ يَهْدِيهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِإِيمَٰنِهِمْۖ
Beneath them rivers will flow, in the gardens of bliss.
تَجْرِے مِن تَحْتِهِمُ اُ۬لَانْهَٰرُ فِے جَنَّٰتِ اِ۬لنَّعِيمِۖ
Their cry there will be: "Glory be to You, O God!"
دَعْو۪يٰهُمْ فِيهَا سُبْحَٰنَكَ اَ۬للَّهُمَّۖ
And their greeting there will be: "Peace".
وَتَحِيَّتُهُمْ فِيهَا سَلَٰمٞۖ
And the last of their cry will be: "Praise be to God, Guardian of all beings."
وَءَاخِرُ دَعْو۪يٰهُمُۥٓ أَنِ اِ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ
And if God hastened ill for men as they seek to hasten good, their term would already have been decided for them.
۞ وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ اُ۬للَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ اِ۬لشَّرَّ اَ۪سْتِعْجَالَهُم بِالْخَيْرِ لَقُضِيَ إِلَيْهِمُۥٓ أَجَلُهُمْۖ
So We forsake those who do not hope for Our meeting in their immoderation, where they go about blindly.
فَنَذَرُ اُ۬لذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِے طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَۖ
And when harm touches the human being, he calls upon Us lying on his side, sitting, or standing;
وَإِذَا مَسَّ اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ اَ۬لضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِداً اَوْ قَآئِماٗۖ
then, when We have removed his harm from him, he goes his way as if he had never called upon Us for a harm that had touched him.
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرّٖ مَّسَّهُۥۖ
Thus were embellished, for the excessive ones, the deeds they used to do.
كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ
We indeed annihilated the generations before you as soon as they did wrong, even though their messengers had come to them with clear proofs;
وَلَقَدَ اَهْلَكْنَا اَ۬لْقُرُونَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُواْ وَجَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِۖ
but they were not disposed to believe.
وَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُومِنُواْۖ
Thus do We recompense the severed people.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَۖ
Then We made you successors on the earth, after them, so as to look at how you would act.
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لِنَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَۖ
And when Our signs are recited to them, wholly explicit, those who do not hope for Our meeting say: "Bring a Recitation other than this one, or change it."
وَإِذَا تُتْل۪ىٰ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا اَ۪يتِ بِقُرْءَانٍ غَيْرِ هَٰذَآ أَوْ بَدِّلْهُۖ
Say: "It is not for me to change it of my own accord;
قُلْ مَا يَكُونُ لِيَ أَنُ ا۟بَدِّلَهُۥ مِن تِلْقَآءِےْ نَفْسِيَۖ
I only follow what is revealed to me.
إِنَ اَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيَّۖ
I indeed fear, if I disobey my Guardian, the punishment of an immense day."
إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّے عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٖۖ
Say: "Had God willed, I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have given you any idea of it.
قُل لَّوْ شَآءَ اَ۬للَّهُ مَا تَلَوْتُهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَآ أَدْر۪يٰكُم بِهِۦۖ
I remained among you a whole lifetime before it, after all.
فَقَدْ لَبِثْتُ فِيكُمْ عُمُراٗ مِّن قَبْلِهِۦٓۖ
Will you not then reason?"
أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَۖ
Who then does more wrong than one who invents a lie against God, or denies His signs?
فَمَنَ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ اِ۪فْتَر۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ كَذِباً اَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦٓۖ
The severed indeed do not succeed.
إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمُونَۖ
And they obey, besides God, what neither harms nor benefits them, and they say: "These are our mediators with God."
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُفَعَٰٓؤُنَا عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ
Say: "Do you inform God of what He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?"
قُلَ اَتُنَبِّـُٔونَ اَ۬للَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِۖ
Glory be to Him, and He is far above what they associate with Him.
سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰل۪ىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَۖ
Mankind was but one single community, then they diverged.
۞ وَمَا كَانَ اَ۬لنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ فَاخْتَلَفُواْۖ
And had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian, it would already have been decided between them concerning what they differ over.
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ فِيمَا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَۖ
And they say: "Why has no sign been sent down to him from his Guardian!"
وَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۖ
Say: "What escapes the senses belongs only to God.
فَقُلِ اِنَّمَا اَ۬لْغَيْبُ لِلهِۖ
So wait,
فَانتَظِرُوٓاْۖ
for I am, with you, among those who wait."
إِنِّے مَعَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُنتَظِرِينَۖ
And when We let men taste a benevolence after a hardship that had touched them, there they are, plotting against Our signs.
وَإِذَآ أَذَقْنَا اَ۬لنَّاسَ رَحْمَةٗ مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُمُۥٓ إِذَا لَهُم مَّكْرٞ فِےٓ ءَايَاتِنَاۖ
Say: "God is swifter in plotting."
قُلِ اِ۬للَّهُ أَسْرَعُ مَكْراًۖ
Our envoys indeed write down what you plot.
اِنَّ رُسُلَنَا يَكْتُبُونَ مَا تَمْكُرُونَۖ
It is He who makes you travel on land and sea,
هُوَ اَ۬لذِے يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِے اِ۬لْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِۖ
until, when you are in the vessel and it sails with them by a wholesome wind, and they rejoice in it, a violent wind comes upon it, the swell comes at them from every side, and they presume they are encompassed — then they call upon God, devoting the Law exclusively to Him: "If You save us from this, we will surely be among the grateful."
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِے اِ۬لْفُلْكِ وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٖ طَيِّبَةٖ وَفَرِحُواْ بِهَا جَآءَتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٞ وَجَآءَهُمُ اُ۬لْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٖ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَنَّهُمُۥٓ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ دَعَوُاْ اُ۬للَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ اُ۬لدِّينَ لَئِنَ اَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لشَّٰكِرِينَۖ
But as soon as He saves them, there they are, committing iniquity on earth, without right.
فَلَمَّآ أَنج۪يٰهُمُۥٓ إِذَا هُمْ يَبْغُونَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ بِغَيْرِ اِ۬لْحَقِّۖ
O mankind! Your iniquity falls back only upon yourselves,
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ إِنَّمَا بَغْيُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمۖ
an enjoyment of the present life;
مَّتَٰعُ اَ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪اۖ
then to Us will be your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do.
ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ
The example of the present life is that of water which We send down from the sky, and which mixes
إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ اُ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا كَمَآءٍ اَنزَلْنَٰهُ مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ فَاخْتَلَطَۖ
with the vegetation of the earth, from which men and cattle eat,
بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ اُ۬لَارْضِ مِمَّا يَاكُلُ اُ۬لنَّاسُ وَالَانْعَٰمُۖ
until, when the earth has taken on its gilding and become embellished, and its people presume they have mastery over it, Our command comes to it, by night or by day, and We make it a mown field, as if it had not flourished the day before.
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذَتِ اِ۬لَارْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَازَّيَّنَتْ وَظَنَّ أَهْلُهَآ أَنَّهُمْ قَٰدِرُونَ عَلَيْهَآ أَت۪يٰهَآ أَمْرُنَا لَيْلاً اَوْ نَهَاراٗ فَجَعَلْنَٰهَا حَصِيداٗ كَأَن لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِالَامْسِۖ
Thus do We detail the signs for a people who reflect.
كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ اُ۬لَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٖ يَتَفَكَّرُونَۖ
God calls to the Abode of Peace, and He guides whom He wills to a straight path.
وَاللَّهُ يَدْعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ د۪ارِ اِ۬لسَّلَٰمِ وَيَهْدِے مَنْ يَّشَآءُ اِ۪لَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسْتَقِيمٖۖ
To those who do good belongs the most beautiful, and even more;
۞ لِّلذِينَ أَحْسَنُواْ اُ۬لْحُسْن۪ىٰ وَزِيَادَةٞۖ
neither dark dust nor humiliation will veil their faces.
وَلَا يَرْهَقُ وُجُوهَهُمْ قَتَرٞ وَلَا ذِلَّةٌۖ
Those are the companions of the Garden,
ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةِۖ
they abide therein eternally.
هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَۖ
As for those who earned evil deeds, the recompense of an evil deed will be its equivalent, and humiliation will veil them; they will have no safeguard against God — as if their faces were covered with a dark piece of the night.
وَالذِينَ كَسَبُواْ اُ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِ جَزَآءُ سَيِّئَةِۢ بِمِثْلِهَا وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٞ مَّا لَهُم مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٖ كَأَنَّمَآ أُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬ليْلِ مُظْلِماًۖ
Those are the companions of the Fire, they abide therein eternally.
ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لنّ۪ارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَۖ
And on the day when We gather them all together, then say to those who associated: "Stay in your place, you and your associates" — then We will separate them from one another,
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعاٗ ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ مَكَانَكُمُۥٓ أَنتُمْ وَشُرَكَآؤُكُمْ فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْۖ
and their associates will say: "It was not us that you obeyed."
وَقَالَ شُرَكَآؤُهُم مَّا كُنتُمُۥٓ إِيَّانَا تَعْبُدُونَۖ
God suffices as a witness between us and you: we were surely heedless of your obedience.
فَكَف۪ىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيداَۢ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنَّا عَنْ عِبَادَتِكُمْ لَغَٰفِلِينَۖ
There, every Self will recite what it did in former days,
هُنَالِكَ تَبْلُواْ كُلُّ نَفْسٖ مَّآ أَسْلَفَتْۖ
and they will be brought back to God, their true Ally,
وَرُدُّوٓاْ إِلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مَوْل۪يٰهُمُ اُ۬لْحَقِّۖ
and what they used to invent will have strayed away from them.
وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَۖ
Say: "Who provides for you from the sky and the earth?
قُلْ مَنْ يَّرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَالَارْضِۖ
Or who holds mastery over hearing and sight, who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and who governs the Order?"
أَمَّنْ يَّمْلِكُ اُ۬لسَّمْعَ وَالَابْصَٰرَ وَمَنْ يُّخْرِجُ اُ۬لْحَيَّ مِنَ اَ۬لْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ اُ۬لْمَيِّتَ مِنَ اَ۬لْحَيِّ وَمَنْ يُّدَبِّرُ اُ۬لَامْرَۖ
They will say: "God."
فَسَيَقُولُونَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ
Then say: "Will you not then guard yourselves?"
فَقُلَ اَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَۖ
That is God, your true Guardian.
فَذَٰلِكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ رَبُّكُمُ اُ۬لْحَقُّۖ
After the truth, what is there but error?
فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ اَ۬لْحَقِّ إِلَّا اَ۬لضَّلَٰلُۖ
How then are you turned away?
فَأَنّ۪ىٰ تُصْرَفُونَۖ
Thus did the word of your Guardian prove true concerning the oversteppers: they do not believe.
كَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَٰتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى اَ۬لذِينَ فَسَقُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يُومِنُونَۖ
Say: "Is there, among your associates, one who begins creation then remakes it?"
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّنْ يَّبْدَؤُاْ اُ۬لْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۖ
Say: "God begins creation, then remakes it.
قُلِ اِ۬للَّهُ يَبْدَؤُاْ اُ۬لْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥۖ
How then are you turned away?"
فَأَنّ۪ىٰ تُوفَكُونَۖ
Say: "Is there, among your associates, one who guides to the truth?"
قُلْ هَلْ مِن شُرَكَآئِكُم مَّنْ يَّهْدِےٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْحَقِّۖ
Say: "God guides to the truth.
قُلِ اِ۬للَّهُ يَهْدِے لِلْحَقِّۖ
Is one who guides to the truth more worthy of being followed, or one who does not let himself be guided unless he is guided?
أَفَمَنْ يَّهْدِےٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْحَقِّ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُّتَّبَعَ أَمَّن لَّا يَهَدِّےٓ إِلَّآ أَنْ يُّهْد۪ىٰۖ
What is with you then? How do you judge?"
فَمَا لَكُمْۖ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَۖ
Most of them follow nothing but presumption;
وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ أَكْثَرُهُمُۥٓ إِلَّا ظَنّاًۖ
and presumption does not avail at all against the truth,
اِنَّ اَ۬لظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِے مِنَ اَ۬لْحَقِّ شَئْاًۖ
for God is All-Knowing of what they do.
اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَلِيمُۢ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَۖ
This Recitation was not something that could have been invented besides God;
۞ وَمَا كَانَ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْقُرْءَانُ أَنْ يُّفْتَر۪ىٰ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ
rather, it confirms what precedes it, and it details the Code — with no doubt possible — from the Guardian of all beings.
وَلَٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ اَ۬لذِے بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ
Or will they say: "He has invented it"?
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ اَ۪فْتَر۪يٰهُۖ
Say: "Bring then a surah like it,
قُلْ فَاتُواْ بِسُورَةٖ مِّثْلِهِۦۖ
and call upon whomever you can, besides God, if you are veracious."
وَادْعُواْ مَنِ اِ۪سْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ
In reality, they denied what they did not encompass in knowledge, and whose prediction had not yet come to them.
بَلْ كَذَّبُواْ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُواْ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَلَمَّا يَاتِهِمْ تَاوِيلُهُۥۖ
Thus did those before them deny.
كَذَٰلِكَ كَذَّبَ اَ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْۖ
So look at what was the end of the wrongdoers.
فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ
And among them are some who believe in it, and some who do not believe in it;
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يُّومِنُ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّا يُومِنُ بِهِۦۖ
your Guardian knows best the corrupters.
وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُفْسِدِينَۖ
And if they deny you, say: "To me my work, and to you your work; you are quit of what I do, and I am quit of what you do."
وَإِن كَذَّبُوكَ فَقُل لِّے عَمَلِے وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمُۥٓ أَنتُم بَرِيٓـُٔونَ مِمَّآ أَعْمَلُ وَأَنَا بَرِےٓءٞ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَۖ
And among them are some who listen to you —
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَّسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَۖ
but will you make the deaf hear, even though they do not reason?
أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ اُ۬لصُّمَّ وَلَوْ كَانُواْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَۖ
And among them are some who look at you —
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَّنظُرُ إِلَيْكَۖ
but will you guide the blind, even though they do not see clearly?
أَفَأَنتَ تَهْدِے اِ۬لْعُمْيَ وَلَوْ كَانُواْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَۖ
God indeed does not wrong men in anything;
إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ اُ۬لنَّاسَ شَئْاٗۖ
it is men who wrong themselves.
وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬لنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَۖ
And on the day He gathers them, as if they had remained but an hour of the day, they will recognize one another.
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ كَأَن لَّمْ يَلْبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لنَّه۪ارِ يَتَعَارَفُونَ بَيْنَهُمْۖ
They are losers, those who denied the meeting with God, and they did not let themselves be guided.
قَدْ خَسِرَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُهْتَدِينَۖ
And whether We show you part of what We promise them, or We keep you faithfully, to Us will be their return;
وَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ اَ۬لذِے نَعِدُهُمُۥٓ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْۖ
God is thereafter a witness over what they do.
ثُمَّ اَ۬للَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَۖ
And to every community, a messenger.
وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولٞۖ
And when their messenger came, it was decided between them with equity, and they were not wronged.
فَإِذَا جَآءَ رَسُولُهُمْ قُضِيَ بَيْنَهُم بِالْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَۖ
And they say: "When will this promise be, if you are veracious?"
وَيَقُولُونَ مَت۪ىٰ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ
Say: "I hold, for myself, neither harm nor benefit, except what God wills.
۞ قُل لَّآ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِے ضَرّاٗ وَلَا نَفْعاً اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ
To every community a term.
لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ اَجَلٌۖ
When their term arrives, they cannot adjourn it by an hour,
اِذَا جَآءَ اجَلُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَٰخِرُونَ سَاعَةٗۖ
nor advance it."
وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَۖ
Say: "Do you see? If His punishment came upon you by night or by day, what is it the severed would want to hasten?
قُلَ اَرَٰٓيْتُمُۥٓ إِنَ اَت۪يٰكُمْ عَذَابُهُۥ بَيَٰتاً اَوْ نَهَاراٗ مَّاذَا يَسْتَعْجِلُ مِنْهُ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمُونَۖ
Is it then only once it has happened that you will believe in it?
أَثُمَّ إِذَا مَا وَقَعَ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦٓۖ
Now?! When you used to seek to hasten it!"
ءَالَٰنَ وَقَدْ كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَۖ
Then it will be said to those who did wrong: "Taste the punishment of eternity;
ثُمَّ قِيلَ لِلذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ اَ۬لْخُلْدِۖ
are you recompensed except for what you used to earn?"
هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَۖ
And they inquire of you: "Is it truly so?"
وَيَسْتَنۢبِـُٔونَكَ أَحَقٌّ هُوَۖ
Say: "Yes, by my Guardian! It is surely so, and you will not be able to render Him powerless."
قُلِ اِے وَرَبِّيَ إِنَّهُۥ لَحَقّٞ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَۖ
And if every Self that has done wrong possessed all that is on earth, it would ransom itself with it.
وَلَوَ اَنَّ لِكُلِّ نَفْسٖ ظَلَمَتْ مَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ لَافْتَدَتْ بِهِۦۖ
And they will keep their regret secret upon seeing the punishment, and it will be decided between them with equity, and they will not be wronged.
وَأَسَرُّواْ اُ۬لنَّدَامَةَ لَمَّا رَأَوُاْ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ وَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُم بِالْقِسْطِ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَۖ
Is it not so: to God belongs what is in the heavens and on the earth.
أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلهِ مَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِۖ
Is it not so: God's promise is true;
أَلَآ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اَ۬للَّهِ حَقّٞۖ
but most of them do not know.
وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ
It is He who gives life and causes death,
هُوَ يُحْيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ
and to Him you will be returned.
وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَۖ
O mankind! An admonition has come to you from your Guardian, a healing for what is in the chests, a guidance and a benevolence for the believers.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَآءٞ لِّمَا فِے اِ۬لصُّدُورِ وَهُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّلْمُومِنِينَۖ
Say: "It is by God's favor and by His benevolence — let them rejoice in that!
قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِۦ فَبِذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُواْۖ
That is better than what they amass."
هُوَ خَيْرٞ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَۖ
Say: "Do you see? What God sent down for you as provision, you have made part of it prohibited and part permitted" —
قُلَ اَرَٰٓيْتُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ اَ۬للَّهُ لَكُم مِّن رِّزْقٖ فَجَعَلْتُم مِّنْهُ حَرَاماٗ وَحَلَٰلاٗۖ
say: "Is it God who authorized you, or is it against God that you invent?"
قُلَ آٰللَّهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمُۥٓ أَمْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ تَفْتَرُونَۖ
What will they presume, on the Day of Appearance, those who invent the lie against God?
وَمَا ظَنُّ اُ۬لذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْكَذِبَ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِۖ
God surely holds a favor toward mankind,
إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى اَ۬لنَّاسِۖ
but most of them are not grateful.
وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَۖ
You are not in any situation, nor do you recite any Recitation from it, nor do you do any deed, without Our being witnesses over you when you indulge in it.
۞ وَمَا تَكُونُ فِے شَأْنٖ وَمَا تَتْلُواْ مِنْهُ مِن قُرْءَانٖ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ اِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُوداً اِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِۖ
Nothing eludes your Guardian, even the weight of a particle on earth or in the sky,
وَمَا يَعْزُبُ عَن رَّبِّكَ مِن مِّثْقَالِ ذَرَّةٖ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَلَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَآءِۖ
nothing smaller or greater that is not in an explicit register.
وَلَآ أَصْغَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ وَلَآ أَكْبَرَ إِلَّا فِے كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٍۖ
Is it not so: the allies of God, no fear upon them, and they will not grieve,
اَلَآ إِنَّ أَوْلِيَآءَ اَ۬للَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَۖ
those who believed and used to guard themselves.
اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ
To them the good tidings, in the present life and in the last life.
لَهُمُ اُ۬لْبُشْر۪ىٰ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَفِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِۖ
No change to God's words.
لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِكَلِمَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ
That is the immense triumph.
ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ
And let not their saying grieve you:
وَلَا يُحْزِنكَ قَوْلُهُمُۥٓۖ
might indeed belongs to God in its entirety.
إِنَّ اَ۬لْعِزَّةَ لِلهِ جَمِيعاًۖ
He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
هُوَ اَ۬لسَّمِيعُ اُ۬لْعَلِيمُۖ
Is it not so: to God belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth;
أَلَآ إِنَّ لِلهِ مَن فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِے اِ۬لَارْضِۖ
what, then, do those follow who invoke associates besides God?
وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ اُ۬لذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ شُرَكَآءَۖ
They follow nothing but presumption,
ا۪نْ يَّتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا اَ۬لظَّنَّۖ
and they do nothing but guess.
وَإِنْ هُمُۥٓ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَۖ
It is He who made for you the night so that you might rest in it, and the day for seeing clearly.
هُوَ اَ۬لذِے جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬ليْلَ لِتَسْكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِراًۖ
There are surely in that signs for a people who hear.
اِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوْمٖ يَسْمَعُونَۖ
They say: "God has taken a child."
قَالُواْ اُ۪تَّخَذَ اَ۬للَّهُ وَلَداٗۖ
Glory be to Him!
سُبْحَٰنَهُۥۖ
He is the Self-Sufficient.
هُوَ اَ۬لْغَنِيُّۖ
To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth.
لَهُۥ مَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِۖ
You have no authority for this.
إِنْ عِندَكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنِۢ بِهَٰذَآۖ
Will you say about God what you do not know?
أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَۖ
Say: "Those who invent the lie against God indeed do not succeed."
قُلِ اِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُونَۖ
An enjoyment in the present life,
مَتَٰعٞ فِے اِ۬لدُّنْي۪اۖ
then to Us will be their return; then We will make them taste the severe punishment, for having disowned.
ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ ثُمَّ نُذِيقُهُمُ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ اَ۬لشَّدِيدَ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْفُرُونَۖ
And recite to them the information concerning Nuh, when he said to his people: "O my people! If my standing among you and my reminder of God's signs weigh upon you, it is to God that I entrust myself.
۞ وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ نُوحٍ اِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَٰقَوْمِ إِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكُم مَّقَامِے وَتَذْكِيرِے بِـَٔايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ فَعَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُۖ
So bring together your resolve and your associates,
فَأَجْمِعُوٓاْ أَمْرَكُمْ وَشُرَكَآءَكُمْۖ
let your resolve no longer be, for you, a clouded matter,
ثُمَّ لَا يَكُنَ اَمْرُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ غُمَّةٗۖ
then carry it out against me, and grant me no delay.
ثُمَّ اَ۪قْضُوٓاْ إِلَيَّ وَلَا تُنظِرُونِ
If you turn your backs, I have not asked you for any reward;
فَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَمَا سَأَلْتُكُم مِّنَ اَجْرٍۖ
my reward is incumbent only upon God,
اِنَ اَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ
and I have been commanded to be among those true to God alone."
وَأُمِرْتُ أَنَ اَكُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُسْلِمِينَۖ
But they denied him; We saved him, and those with him in the vessel, and We made them successors,
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِے اِ۬لْفُلْكِ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَۖ
and We drowned those who had denied Our signs.
وَأَغْرَقْنَا اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاۖ
So look at what was the end of those who were warned.
فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُنذَرِينَۖ
Then, after him, We raised up messengers to their peoples; they brought them clear proofs, but they were not disposed to believe what they had first denied.
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رُسُلاً اِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِمْ فَجَآءُوهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُومِنُواْ بِمَا كَذَّبُواْ بِهِۦ مِن قَبْلُۖ
Thus do We stamp the cores of those who cross the limits.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ اِ۬لْمُعْتَدِينَۖ
Then, after them, We raised up Moussa and Harun to Fir'awn and his court, with Our signs; but they grew proud and were a severed people.
ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِم مُّوس۪ىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوْماٗ مُّجْرِمِينَۖ
When the truth came to them from Us, they said: "This is surely a manifest illusion."
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ اُ۬لْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسِحْرٞ مُّبِينٞۖ
Moussa said: "Do you say this of the truth, once it has come to you?
قَالَ مُوس۪ىٰٓ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَكُمُۥٓۖ
Is this illusion?
أَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَاۖ
But workers of illusion do not succeed."
وَلَا يُفْلِحُ اُ۬لسَّٰحِرُونَۖ
They said: "Have you come to us to turn us away from what we found our ancestors upon, and so that greatness, on earth, would belong to you both? We will not give credence to you two."
قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَلْفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا اَ۬لْكِبْرِيَآءُ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكُمَا بِمُومِنِينَۖ
And Fir'awn said: "Bring me every knowledgeable worker of illusion."
وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ اُ۪يتُونِے بِكُلِّ سَٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٖۖ
When the workers of illusion came, Moussa said to them: "Throw what you have to throw."
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ اَ۬لسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوس۪ىٰٓ أَلْقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَۖ
When they had thrown, Moussa said: "What you have brought is illusion;
فَلَمَّآ أَلْقَوْاْ قَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ مَا جِئْتُم بِهِ اِ۬لسِّحْرُۖ
God will render it vain,
إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُۖۥٓ
for God does not make the work of corrupters sound."
إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ اَ۬لْمُفْسِدِينَۖ
And God makes the truth prevail by His words, however much the severed detest it.
وَيُحِقُّ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ اَ۬لْمُجْرِمُونَۖ
None gave credit to Moussa except descendants of his people, in fear of Fir'awn and their court, lest he try them.
۞ فَمَآ ءَامَنَ لِمُوس۪ىٰٓ إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٞ مِّن قَوْمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوْفٖ مِّن فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِمُۥٓ أَنْ يَّفْتِنَهُمْۖ
And Fir'awn was surely highly placed on earth,
وَإِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ لَعَالٖ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِۖ
and he was surely among the excessive ones.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ اَ۬لْمُسْرِفِينَۖ
And Moussa said: "O my people, if you believe in God, entrust yourselves to Him, if you are true to God alone."
وَقَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ يَٰقَوْمِ إِن كُنتُمُۥٓ ءَامَنتُم بِاللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوٓاْ إِن كُنتُم مُّسْلِمِينَۖ
They said: "It is to God that we entrust ourselves.
فَقَالُواْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَاۖ
Our Guardian, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people,
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةٗ لِّلْقَوْمِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ
and save us, by Your benevolence, from the people who disown."
وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْقَوْمِ اِ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ
And We revealed to Moussa and his brother: "Set up houses for your people in Egypt; make your houses a rallying point; and maintain the Contact."
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوس۪ىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّءَا لِقَوْمِكُمَا بِمِصْرَ بُيُوتاٗ وَاجْعَلُواْ بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةٗ وَأَقِيمُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَۖ
And give good news to the believers.
وَبَشِّرِ اِ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ
And Moussa said: "Our Guardian, You have given Fir'awn and his court adornment and goods in the present life,
وَقَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُۥ زِينَةٗ وَأَمْوَٰلاٗ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪اۖ
our Guardian, so that they may lead astray from Your way.
رَبَّنَا لِيَضِلُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِكَۖ
Our Guardian, obliterate their goods and tighten their cores, so that they do not believe until they see the painful punishment."
رَبَّنَا اَ۪طْمِسْ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَاشْدُدْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَلَا يُومِنُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ اَ۬لَالِيمَۖ
He said: "Your invocation is answered; so stand you both straight,
قَالَ قَدُ ا۟جِيبَت دَّعْوَتُكُمَا فَاسْتَقِيمَاۖ
and do not follow the way of those who do not know."
وَلَا تَتَّبِعَٰٓنِّ سَبِيلَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ
And We made the Sons of Israel traverse the sea; Fir'awn and his armies pursued them in iniquity and hostility,
وَجَٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ اَ۬لْبَحْرَ فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغْياٗ وَعَدْواًۖ
until, when the drowning overtook him, he said: "I believe that there is no deity but He in whom the Sons of Israel have believed, and I am among those true to God alone."
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَدْرَكَهُ اُ۬لْغَرَقُ قَالَ ءَامَنتُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اَ۬لذِےٓ ءَامَنَتْ بِهِۦ بَنُوٓاْ إِسْرَآءِيلَ وَأَنَا مِنَ اَ۬لْمُسْلِمِينَۖ
"Now?! When you disobeyed before, and were among the corrupters!
ءَالَٰنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُفْسِدِينَۖ
Today, then, We save you as to your body, so that you may be a sign for those who come after you."
فَالْيَوْمَ نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ ءَايَةٗۖ
But many men are surely heedless of Our signs.
وَإِنَّ كَثِيراٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ عَنَ اٰيَٰتِنَا لَغَٰفِلُونَۖ
We indeed settled the Sons of Israel in a true dwelling, and We provided them with wholesome things; they did not diverge until the knowledge had come to them.
۞ وَلَقَدْ بَوَّأْنَا بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ مُبَوَّأَ صِدْقٖ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لطَّيِّبَٰتِ فَمَا اَ۪خْتَلَفُواْ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَهُمُ اُ۬لْعِلْمُۖ
Your Guardian will indeed decide between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning what they used to differ over.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِے بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَۖ
If you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, ask those who read the Scripture before you.
فَإِن كُنتَ فِے شَكّٖ مِّمَّآ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ فَسْـَٔلِ اِ۬لذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكَۖ
The truth has certainly come to you from your Guardian;
لَقَدْ جَآءَكَ اَ۬لْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَۖ
so never be among those who contend.
فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُمْتَرِينَۖ
And do not be among those who denied the signs of God, you would then be among the losers.
وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْخَٰسِرِينَۖ
Those on whom the word of your Guardian has proven true will not believe, even if every sign came to them, until they see the painful punishment.
إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَلِمَٰتُ رَبِّكَ لَا يُومِنُونَ وَلَوْ جَآءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ اَ۬لَالِيمَۖ
Was there ever a city that believed and whose faith benefited it — except the people of Younes! When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the present life, and We granted them enjoyment for a time.
فَلَوْلَا كَانَتْ قَرْيَةٌ اٰمَنَتْ فَنَفَعَهَآ إِيمَٰنُهَآ إِلَّا قَوْمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّآ ءَامَنُواْ كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمْ عَذَابَ اَ۬لْخِزْيِ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ حِينٖۖ
And had your Guardian willed, all those on earth would have believed, all of them together.
وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَأٓمَنَ مَن فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيعاًۖ
Is it you who would compel men to become believers?
اَفَأَنتَ تُكْرِهُ اُ۬لنَّاسَ حَتَّىٰ يَكُونُواْ مُومِنِينَۖ
It is not for any Self to believe except with God's permission,
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ اَن تُومِنَ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ
and He places filth upon those who do not reason.
وَيَجْعَلُ اُ۬لرِّجْسَ عَلَى اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَۖ
Say: "Look at what is in the heavens and the earth" — but of what avail are signs and warnings to a people who do not believe?
قُلُ اُ۟نظُرُواْ مَاذَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ وَمَا تُغْنِے اِ۬لَايَٰتُ وَالنُّذُرُ عَن قَوْمٖ لَّا يُومِنُونَۖ
What then do they await, but the like of the days of those who passed before them?
فَهَلْ يَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثْلَ أَيَّامِ اِ۬لذِينَ خَلَوْاْ مِن قَبْلِهِمْۖ
Say: "Wait then, for I am, with you, among those who wait."
قُلْ فَانتَظِرُوٓاْۖ إِنِّے مَعَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُنتَظِرِينَۖ
Then We save Our messengers, and those who believed — thus;
ثُمَّ نُنَجِّے رُسُلَنَا وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ كَذَٰلِكَۖ
it is a duty upon Us to save the believers.
حَقّاً عَلَيْنَا نُنَجِّ اِ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ
Say: "O mankind! If you are in doubt about my Law, I do not obey those you obey besides God,
۞ قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ إِن كُنتُمْ فِے شَكّٖ مِّن دِينِے فَلَآ أَعْبُدُ اُ۬لذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ
but I obey God, who will keep you faithfully.
وَلَٰكِنَ اَعْبُدُ اُ۬للَّهَ اَ۬لذِے يَتَوَفّ۪يٰكُمْۖ
And I have been commanded to be among the believers,
وَأُمِرْتُ أَنَ اَكُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ
and: 'Maintain your direction toward the Law, wholly turned toward God,
وَأَنَ اَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفاٗۖ
and never be among those who associate.'"
وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَۖ
And do not invoke, besides God, what neither benefits nor harms you;
وَلَا تَدْعُ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَۖ
if you did so, you would indeed then be among the wrongdoers.
فَإِن فَعَلْتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ
And if God touches you with harm, none can remove it but Him;
وَإِنْ يَّمْسَسْكَ اَ۬للَّهُ بِضُرّٖ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَۖ
and if He wants good for you, none can turn back His favor.
وَإِنْ يُّرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٖ فَلَا رَآدَّ لِفَضْلِهِۦۖ
He makes it betide whom He wills among His obedient ones.
يُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦۖ
He is the Most-Forgiving, the Benevolent.
وَهُوَ اَ۬لْغَفُورُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُۖ
Say: "O mankind! The truth has come to you from your Guardian;
قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ قَدْ جَآءَكُمُ اُ۬لْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْۖ
whoever lets himself be guided lets himself be guided only for himself,
فَمَنِ اِ۪هْتَد۪ىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِے لِنَفْسِهِۦۖ
and whoever strays only strays against himself.
وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَاۖ
And I am not, for you, a trustee."
وَمَآ أَنَا عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٖۖ
And follow what is revealed to you, and be patient until God judges.
وَاتَّبِعْ مَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَاصْبِرْ حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ
He is the best of judges.
وَهُوَ خَيْرُ اُ۬لْحَٰكِمِينَۖ
