An-Nur النور

The fornicatress and the fornicator, inflict on each of them a hundred strokes on the skin,

اَ۬لزَّانِيَةُ وَاَلزَّانِي فَاَجۡلِدُواْ كُلَّ وَٰحِدٖ مِّنۡهُمَا مِاْئَة جَّلۡدَةٖۖ

and let no kindness for them seize you in the Law of God, if you believe in God and the Last Day;

وَلَا تَاخُذۡكُم بِهِمَا رَافَةٞ فِي دِينِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُومِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَاَلۡيَوۡمِ اِ۬لۡأٓخِرِۖ

The fornicator takes as wife only a fornicatress or an associator,

اَ۬لزَّانِي لَا يَنكِحُ إِلَّا زَانِيَةً أَوۡ مُشۡرِكَةٗ

and the fornicatress, only a fornicator or an associator takes her as wife;

وَاَلزَّانِيَةُ لَا يَنكِحُهَا إِلَّا زَانٍ أَوۡ مُشۡرِكٞۚ

Those who came with the distortion are indeed a group from among you; do not think it is an ill for you,

۞ إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ جَآءُو بِالۡإِفۡكِ عُصۡبَةٞ مِّنكُمۡۚ لَا تَحۡسِبُوهُ شَرّٗا لَّكُمۖ

no, it is a good for you.

بَلۡ هُوَ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡۚ

To each person among them, what they have earned of transgression,

لِكُلِّ اِ۪مۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُم مَّا اَ۪كۡتَسَبَ مِنَ اَ۬لۡإِثۡمِۚ

If only they had brought four witnesses concerning it!

لَّوۡلَا جَآءُو عَلَيۡهِ بِأَرۡبَعَة شُّهَدَآءَۚ

And God makes the signs clear to you,

وَيُبَيِّنُ اُ۬للَّهُ لَكُمُ اُ۬لۡأٓيَٰتِۚ

Those who love that indecency should spread among those who believe will indeed have a painful punishment, in the near life and the last life,

إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَن تَشِيعَ اَ۬لۡفَٰحِشَةُ فِي اِ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ فِي اِ۬لدُّنۡيۭا وَاَلۡأٓخِرَةِۚ

and God knows,

وَاَللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ

and whoever follows the footsteps of the Diverter — he indeed commands indecency and what is disavowed.

وَمَن يَتَّبِعۡ خُطۡوَٰتِ اِ۬لشَّيۡطَٰنِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَامُرُ بِالۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَاَلۡمُنكَرِۚ

And were it not for the favor of God upon you and His benevolence, not one of you would ever have been purified,

وَلَوۡلَا فَضۡلُ اُ۬للَّهِ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَرَحۡمَتُهُۥ مَا زَكَىٰ مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ أَبَدٗا

but God purifies whom He wills,

وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُزَكِّي مَن يَشَآءُۗ

And let not those among you who have favor and ampleness swear not to give to their relatives, the destitute, and those who emigrated in the way of God,

وَلَا يَاتَلِ أُوْلُواْ اُ۬لۡفَضۡلِ مِنكُمۡ وَاَلسَّعَةِ أَن يُوتُواْ أُوْلِي اِ۬لۡقُرۡبۭيٰ وَاَلۡمَسَٰكِينَ وَاَلۡمُهَٰجِرِينَ فِي سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ

and let them rather overlook and turn the page.

وَلۡيَعۡفُواْ وَلۡيَصۡفَحُواْۗ

Would you not love for God to forgive you?

أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَن يَغۡفِرَ اَ۬للَّهُ لَكُمۡۚ

That day, God will faithfully repay them their just due,

يَوۡمَئِذٖ يُوَفِّيهِمِ اِ۬للَّهُ دِينَهُمُ اُ۬لۡحَقَّ

The vile for the vile, and the vile for the vile;

اُ۬لۡخَبِيثَٰتُ لِلۡخَبِيثِينَ وَاَلۡخَبِيثُونَ لِلۡخَبِيثَٰتِۖ

and the wholesome for the wholesome, and the wholesome for the wholesome.

وَاَلطَّيِّبَٰتُ لِلطَّيِّبِينَ وَاَلطَّيِّبُونَ لِلطَّيِّبَٰتِۚ

Those are made quit of what is said;

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مُبَرَّءُونَ مِمَّا يَقُولُونَۖ

O you who have believed! Do not enter houses other than your own until you have made yourselves known and greeted their occupants —

يَٰأَيُّهَا اَ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَدۡخُلُواْ بُيُوتًا غَيۡرَ بُيُوتِكُمۡ حَتَّىٰ تَسۡتَانِسُواْ وَتُسَلِّمُواْ عَلَىٰ أَهۡلِهَاۚ

If you find no one therein, do not enter until you are given permission;

فَإِن لَّمۡ تَجِدُواْ فِيهَا أَحَدٗا فَلَا تَدۡخُلُوهَا حَتَّىٰ يُوذَن لَّكُمۡۖ

and if you are told: "Return," then return — it is purer for you.

وَإِن قِيل لَّكُمُ اُ۪رۡجِعُواْ فَاَرۡجِعُواْۖ هُوَ أَزۡكَىٰ لَكُمۡۚ

No blame upon you for entering uninhabited houses in which there is a use for you.

لَّيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَدۡخُلُواْ بُيُوتًا غَيۡرَ مَسۡكُونَةٖ فِيهَا مَتَٰعٞ لَّكُمۡۚ

Say to the believing men to cast down their sights and preserve their private parts — that is purer for them,

قُل لِّلۡمُومِنِينَ يَغُضُّواْ مِنۡ أَبۡصٰ۪رِهِمۡ وَيَحۡفَظُواْ فُرُوجَهُمۡۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَزۡكَىٰ لَهُمۡۚ

And say to the believing women to cast down their sights and preserve their private parts,

۞ وَقُل لِّلۡمُومِنَٰتِ يَغۡضُضۡنَ مِنۡ أَبۡصٰ۪رِهِنَّ وَيَحۡفَظۡنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ

and not to make appear that which, in them, arouses desire, except what of it is uncovered,

وَلَا يُبۡدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَاۖ

and let them multiply their covering cloth over the neckline of their chest,

وَلۡيَضۡرِبۡنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَىٰ جُيُوبِهِنَّۖ

and let them not make appear what, in them, arouses desire, except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husbands' fathers, or their sons, or their husbands' sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or the women of their circle, or those bound by oath, or male attendants devoid of desire, or children to whom women's private matters are not yet uncovered.

وَلَا يُبۡدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوۡ ءَابَآئِهِنَّ أَوۡ ءَابَآءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوۡ أَبۡنَآئِهِنَّ أَوۡ أَبۡنَآءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوۡ إِخۡوَٰنِهِنَّ أَوۡ بَنِي إِخۡوَٰنِهِنَّ أَوۡ بَنِي أَخَوَٰتِهِنَّ أَوۡ نِسَآئِهِنَّ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُهُنَّ أَوِ اِ۬لتَّٰبِعِينَ غَيۡرِ أُوْلِي اِ۬لۡإِرۡبَةِ مِنَ اَ۬لرِّجَالِ أَوِ اِ۬لطِّفۡلِ اِ۬لَّذِينَ لَمۡ يَظۡهَرُواْ عَلَىٰ عَوۡرَٰتِ اِ۬لنِّسَآءِۖ

And let them not multiply their steps so as to make known what they hide of what arouses desire in them.

وَلَا يَضۡرِبۡنَ بِأَرۡجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعۡلَم مَّا يُخۡفِينَ مِن زِينَتِهِنَّۚ

And marry the unmarried among you, as well as those who are sound among your male and female obedient ones.

وَأَنكِحُواْ اُ۬لۡأَيَٰمَىٰ مِنكُمۡ وَاَلصَّٰلِحِينَ مِنۡ عِبَادِكُمۡ وَإِمَآئِكُمۡۚ

If they are poor, God will enrich them from His favor.

إِن يَكُونُواْ فُقَرَآءَ يُغۡنِهِمِ اِ۬للَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦۗ

And let those who do not find marriage refrain, until God enriches them from His favor.

وَلۡيَسۡتَعۡفِفِ اِ۬لَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُون نِّكَاحًا حَتَّىٰ يُغۡنِيَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦۗ

And those, among those bound by oath, who seek the written deed of marriage, draw up that deed with them if you know good in them,

وَاَلَّذِينَ يَبۡتَغُونَ اَ۬لۡكِتَٰبَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡ فَكَاتِبُوهُمۡ إِنۡ عَلِمۡتُمۡ فِيهِمۡ خَيۡرٗاۖ

and give them from the goods of God which He has given you.

وَءَاتُوهُم مِّن مَّالِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لَّذِي ءَاتَىٰكُمۡۚ

And do not compel your young women to prostitution, if they wish to be protected, seeking merely the goods of the near life.

وَلَا تُكۡرِهُواْ فَتَيَٰتِكُمۡ عَلَى اَ۬لۡبِغَا إِنۡ أَرَدۡنَ تَحَصُّنٗا لِّتَبۡتَغُواْ عَرَضَ اَ۬لۡحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنۡيۭاۚ

God is the Light of the heavens and the earth.

۞ اَ۬للَّهُ نُورُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِۚ

The example of His Light is like a niche wherein is a lamp.

مَثَلُ نُورِهِۦ كَمِشۡكَوٰةٖ فِيهَا مِصۡبَاحٌۖ

The lamp is in a glass.

اِ۬لۡمِصۡبَاحُ فِي زُجَاجَةٍۖ

The glass is like a brilliant heavenly body, kindled from a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is about to glow forth even without fire touching it.

اِ۬لزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوۡكَبٞ دِرِّيٓءٞ تَوَقَّدَ مِن شَجَرَةٖ مُّبَٰرَكَةٖ زَيۡتُونَةٖ لَّا شَرۡقِيَّةٖ وَلَا غَرۡبِيَّةٖ يَكَاد زَّيۡتُهَا يُضِيٓءُ وَلَوۡ لَمۡ تَمۡسَسۡهُ نَارٞۚ

Light upon light.

نُّورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٖۚ

God guides to His Light whom He wills,

يَهۡدِي اِ۬للَّهُ لِنُورِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ

and God multiplies examples for mankind,

وَيَضۡرِبُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لۡأَمۡثَٰل لِّلنَّاسِۗ

fearing a day when the cores and the sights will capsize, so that God may recompense them according to the most beautiful of what they have done, and give them more of His favor.

يَخَافُونَ يَوۡمٗا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ اِ۬لۡقُلُوبُ وَاَلۡأَبۡصَٰر لِّيَجۡزِيَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ أَحۡسَنَ مَا عَمِلُواْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضۡلِهِۦۗ

And those who disown, their works are like a mirage in a desert plain, which the thirsty one takes for water, until, when he comes to it, he finds nothing, but he finds God there, who faithfully squares his account.

وَاَلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ كَسَرَابِۢ بِقِيعَةٖ يَحۡسِبُهُ اُ۬لظَّمۡـَٔانُ مَآءً حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَآءَهُۥ لَمۡ يَجِدۡهُ شَيۡـٔٗا وَوَجَدَ اَ۬للَّهَ عِندَهُۥ فَوَفَّىٰهُ حِسَابَهُۥۗ

Or like darknesses on a deep, surging sea: a wave covers it, above which is another wave, above which is a cloud —

أَوۡ كَظُلُمَٰتٖ فِي بَحۡرٖ لُّجِّيّٖ يَغۡشَىٰهُ مَوۡجٞ مِّن فَوۡقِهِۦ مَوۡجٞ مِّن فَوۡقِهِۦ سَحَابٞۚ

darknesses, one above another:

ظُلُمَٰتُۢ بَعۡضُهَا فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٍ

when he puts out his hand, he can hardly see it.

إِذَا أَخۡرَجَ يَدَهُۥ لَمۡ يَكَدۡ يَر۪ىٰهَاۗ

Have you not seen that God — He is glorified by those in the heavens and on the earth, and the birds aligning their wings?

أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَن فِي اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِ وَاَلطَّيۡرُ صَٰٓفَّٰتٖۖ

Each one knows its Contact and its glorification,

كُلّٞ قَدۡ عَلِمَ صَلَاتَهُۥ وَتَسۡبِيحَهُۥۗ

And to God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth,

وَلِلَّهِ مُلۡكُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِۖ

Have you not seen that God makes the clouds glide, then joins them together, then makes them into a mass, and you see the shower come out from within it?

۞ أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُزۡجِي سَحَابٗا ثُمَّ يُؤَلِّفُ بَيۡنَهُۥ ثُمَّ يَجۡعَلُهُۥ رُكَامٗا فَتَر۪ي اَ۬لۡوَدۡقَ يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡ خِلَٰلِهِۦ

And He sends down from the sky, from mountains therein, hail, with which He strikes whom He wills, and which He turns away from whom He wills;

وَيُنزِلُ مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مِن جِبَالٖ فِيهَا مِنۢ بَرَدٖ فَيُصِيب بِّهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَصۡرِفُهُۥ عَن مَّن يَشَآءُۖ

God alternates the night and the day.

يُقَلِّبُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لَّيۡلَ وَاَلنَّهَارَۚ

And God created every living being from water.

وَاَللَّهُ خَلَق كُّلَّ دَآبَّةٖ مِّن مَّآءٖۖ

Among them is one that walks on its belly,

فَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَمۡشِي عَلَىٰ بَطۡنِهِۦ

and among them is one that walks on two feet,

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَمۡشِي عَلَىٰ رِجۡلَيۡنِ

and among them is one that walks on four.

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَمۡشِي عَلَىٰ أَرۡبَعٖۚ

God creates what He wills,

يَخۡلُقُ اُ۬للَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُۚ

We have indeed sent down clear signs,

لَّقَدۡ أَنزَلۡنَا ءَايَٰتٖ مُّبَيَّنَٰتٖۚ

And they say: "We have believed in God and in the messenger, and we have deferred" — then a fraction among them turns its back after that;

وَيَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالرَّسُولِ وَأَطَعۡنَا ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٞ مِّنۡهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡد ذَّٰلِكَۚ

Is there a sickness in their cores, or do they doubt, or do they fear that God and His messenger will lean against them?

أَفِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ أَمِ اِ۪رۡتَابُواْ أَمۡ يَخَافُونَ أَن يَحِيفَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَرَسُولُهُۥۚ

The only saying of the believers, when they are called to God and His messenger so that he may judge between them, is to say: "We have heard and we have deferred."

إِنَّمَا كَانَ قَوۡلَ اَ۬لۡمُومِنِينَ إِذَا دُعُواْ إِلَى اَ۬للَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحۡكُم بَيۡنَهُمۡ أَن يَقُولُواْ سَمِعۡنَا وَأَطَعۡنَاۚ

And they swore by God, with the utmost strength of their oaths, that if you ordered them, they would surely go forth.

۞ وَأَقۡسَمُواْ بِاللَّهِ جَهۡدَ أَيۡمَٰنِهِمۡ لَئِنۡ أَمَرۡتَهُمۡ لَيَخۡرُجُنَّۖ

Say: "Do not swear;

قُل لَّا تُقۡسِمُواْۖ

a recognized deference!

طَاعَةٞ مَّعۡرُوفَةٌۚ

Say: "Defer to God and defer to the messenger;

قُلۡ أَطِيعُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ اُ۬لرَّسُولَۖ

but if you turn your backs, upon him rests only what he has been made to carry, and upon you rests only what you have been made to carry.

فَإِن تَوَلَّوۡاْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيۡهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيۡكُم مَّا حُمِّلۡتُمۡۖ

And if you defer to him, you will let yourselves be guided.

وَإِن تُطِيعُوهُ تَهۡتَدُواْۚ

And God has promised those among you who believe and do sound deeds that He will surely make them successors on the earth, as He made successors those before them, that He will surely establish firmly for them their Law which He has approved for them, and that He will surely change their state, after their fear, into security.

وَعَدَ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَيَسۡتَخۡلِفَنَّهُمۡ فِي اِ۬لۡأَرۡضِ كَمَا اَ۪سۡتَخۡلَفَ اَ۬لَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمۡ دِينَهُمُ اُ۬لَّذِي اِ۪رۡتَضَىٰ لَهُمۡ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ خَوۡفِهِمۡ أَمۡنٗاۚ

They obey Me without associating anything with Me.

يَعۡبُدُونَنِي لَا يُشۡرِكُونَ بِي شَيۡـٔٗاۚ

And maintain the Contact, and give pure liberality,

وَأَقِيمُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ اُ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ

Do not ever think that those who disown can render Him powerless on the earth;

لَا تَحۡسِبَنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مُعۡجِزِينَ فِي اِ۬لۡأَرۡضِۚ

and their resort is the Fire,

وَمَاوَىٰهُمُ اُ۬لنَّارُۖ

O you who have believed! Let those bound by oath and those among you who have not yet reached the age of composure ask your permission at three times: before the Contact of dawn, when you lay aside your clothes at midday, and after the Contact of evening —

يَٰأَيُّهَا اَ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لِيَسۡتَٰذِنكُمُ اُ۬لَّذِينَ مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡ وَاَلَّذِينَ لَمۡ يَبۡلُغُواْ اُ۬لۡحُلُم مِّنكُمۡ ثَلَٰثَ مَرَّٰتٖۚ مِّن قَبۡلِ صَلَوٰةِ اِ۬لۡفَجۡرِ وَحِينَ تَضَعُونَ ثِيَابَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لظَّهِيرَةِ وَمِنۢ بَعۡد صَّلَوٰةِ اِ۬لۡعِشَآءِۚ

three times of privacy for you.

ثَلَٰثُ عَوۡرَٰتٖ لَّكُمۡۚ

No blame, neither upon you nor upon them, outside these times,

لَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَلَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ جُنَاحُۢ بَعۡدَهُنَّۚ

being visitors among you,

طَوَّٰفُونَ عَلَيۡكُم

one with another.

بَعۡضُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖۚ

Thus does God make the signs clear to you,

كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اُ۬للَّهُ لَكُمُ اُ۬لۡأٓيَٰتِۗ

And when the children among you reach the age of composure, let them ask permission as those before them asked permission.

وَإِذَا بَلَغَ اَ۬لۡأَطۡفَٰلُ مِنكُمُ اُ۬لۡحُلُمَ فَلۡيَسۡتَٰذِنُواْ كَمَا اَ۪سۡتَٰذَنَ اَ۬لَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ

Thus does God make His signs clear to you,

كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اُ۬للَّهُ لَكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦۗ

And those past the age of childbearing, among women, who no longer hope for marriage, no blame upon them for laying aside their clothes, without ostentatiously displaying what, in them, arouses desire;

۞ وَاَلۡقَوَٰعِدُ مِنَ اَ۬لنِّسَآءِ اِ۬لَّٰتِي لَا يَرۡجُون نِّكَاحٗا فَلَيۡسَ عَلَيۡهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ أَن يَضَعۡنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ غَيۡرَ مُتَبَرِّجَٰتِۢ بِزِينَةٖۖ

but that they refrain is better for them.

وَأَن يَسۡتَعۡفِفۡنَ خَيۡرٞ لَّهُنَّۗ

There is no discomfort for the blind, nor discomfort for the lame, nor discomfort for the sick, nor for yourselves, in eating in your own houses, or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers, or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your paternal uncles, or the houses of your paternal aunts, or the houses of your maternal uncles, or the houses of your maternal aunts, or in what you hold the keys of, or at your friend's.

لَّيۡسَ عَلَى اَ۬لۡأَعۡمَىٰ حَرَجٞ وَلَا عَلَى اَ۬لۡأَعۡرَجِ حَرَجٞ وَلَا عَلَى اَ۬لۡمَرِيضِ حَرَجٞ وَلَا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُمۡ أَن تَاكُلُواْ مِنۢ بُيُوتِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ ءَابَآئِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ إِخۡوَٰنِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ أَخَوَٰتِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ أَعۡمَٰمِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ عَمَّٰتِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ أَخۡوَٰلِكُمۡ أَوۡ بُيُوتِ خَٰلَٰتِكُمۡ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكۡتُم مَّفَاتِحَهُۥ أَوۡ صَدِيقِكُمۡۚ

No blame upon you for eating together or separately.

لَيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَاكُلُواْ جَمِيعًا أَوۡ أَشۡتَاتٗاۚ

And when you enter houses, greet one another with a greeting from God, blessed and wholesome.

فَإِذَا دَخَلۡتُم بُيُوتٗا فَسَلِّمُواْ عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِكُمۡ تَحِيَّةٗ مِّنۡ عِندِ اِ۬للَّهِ مُبَٰرَكَةٗ طَيِّبَةٗۚ

The believers are only those who believe in God and His messenger, and who, when they are with him for a common matter, do not leave until they have asked his permission.

إِنَّمَا اَ۬لۡمُومِنُونَ اَ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَإِذَا كَانُواْ مَعَهُۥ عَلَىٰ أَمۡرٖ جَامِعٖ لَّمۡ يَذۡهَبُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَسۡتَٰذِنُوهُۚ

Those who ask your permission, those are indeed the ones who believe in God and His messenger.

إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ يَسۡتَٰذِنُونَكَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لَّذِينَ يُومِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۚ

And when they ask your permission for some matter concerning them, grant it to whom you will among them, and ask God's forgiveness for them;

فَإِذَا اَ۪سۡتَٰذَنُوكَ لِبَعۡض شَّانِهِمۡ فَاذَن لِّمَن شِيتَ مِنۡهُمۡ وَاَسۡتَغۡفِر لَّهُمُ اُ۬للَّهَۚ

Do not consider the call of the messenger among yourselves as the call of one of you to another.

۞ لَّا تَجۡعَلُواْ دُعَآءَ اَ۬لرَّسُولِ بَيۡنَكُمۡ كَدُعَآءِ بَعۡضِكُم بَعۡضٗاۚ

God will surely distinguish those among you who slip away furtively.

قَدۡ يَعۡلَمُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لَّذِينَ يَتَسَلَّلُونَ مِنكُمۡ لِوَاذٗاۚ

Is it not so: to God belongs what is in the heavens and on the earth.

أَلَا إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِۖ

He will surely know the state you are in,

قَدۡ يَعۡلَم مَّا أَنتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ

and the day when they are returned to Him, He will inform them of what they did.

وَيَوۡمَ يُرۡجَعُونَ إِلَيۡهِ فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُواْۗ
