The return judged far-fetched, the sworn Day, then the community (50, then 51-67)

Read the section from its beginning: sura 50

What was shown before: The return judged far-fetched is set out in 50. 50

65:1

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O Informant! When you repudiate women, repudiate them with regard to their prescribed waiting period, and enumerate that period.

65:1

And guard yourselves toward God, your Guardian.

65:1

Do not make them leave their houses,

65:1

nor should they leave, unless they commit a flagrant indecency.

And those are the limits of God.

And whoever crosses the limits of God has wronged his own Self.

65:1

You have no idea: perhaps God will give rise, after that, to something.

65:2

Then, when they reach their term, retain them according to what is recognized or part from them according to what is recognized,

65:2

and take as witnesses two just ones among you,

and maintain the testimony for God.

This is what whoever believes in God and the Last Day is exhorted by.

65:3

And whoever guards himself toward God, He grants him a way out, and provides for him from where he does not expect.

And whoever entrusts himself to God, He is sufficient for him,

65:3

for God brings His command to its term.

God has set a measure for everything.

65:4

And as for those of your women who have lost hope of menstruation, if you are in doubt, their waiting period is three months, and likewise for those who have not had their menstruation.

And for pregnant women, their term is when they give birth to what they carry.

65:4

And whoever guards himself toward God, He grants him ease in his affair.

That is God's command, which He has sent down to you.

65:5

And whoever guards himself toward God, He covers his misdeeds and makes his reward immense.

65:6

Let them dwell where you yourselves dwell, according to your means,

and do not harm them so as to put them in straits.

And if they are pregnant, provide for them until they give birth to what they carry.

65:6

Then, if they take the child into care for you, give them their rewards, and consult together according to what is recognized.

65:6

And if you make things difficult for one another, then another woman will take the child into care for him.

Let the well-off spend according to his ampleness,

and let whoever's provision is restricted spend from what God has given him.

God imposes upon no Self except what He has given it.

65:7

God will bring ease after hardship.

65:8–9

How many a city defied with insolence the command of its Guardian and His messengers! We called it to a severe account and punished it with a horrible punishment, and it tasted the baleful consequences of its conduct.

And the outcome of its conduct was loss.

God has prepared for them a severe punishment.

65:10

So guard yourselves toward God, O possessors of intelligence,

you who believe; God has sent down to you a Reminder,

65:11

a messenger who recites to you God's clarifying signs, so as to bring those who have believed and done sound deeds out of the darknesses into the light.

65:11

And whoever believes in God and does a sound deed, He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein eternally, forever; God has surely granted him a fine provision.

God is the One who created seven heavens, and of the earth their like.

The command descends among them, so that you may know that God is capable of all things, and that God encompasses all things in knowledge.
