Al-Alaq العلق

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Read, in the name of your Guardian who created!

بِسۡمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحۡمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ اِ۪قۡرَأۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لَّذِي خَلَقَ

He created the human being from a clinging form.

خَلَقَ اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ

Read! And your Guardian is the Most Generous, who taught by the pen, taught the human being what he did not know.

اِ۪قۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ اَ۬لۡأَكۡرَمُ اُ۬لَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالۡقَلَمِ عَلَّمَ اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ

By no means! The human being surely exceeds all measure, because he sees himself self-sufficient.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ اَ۬لۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغۭيٰٓ أَن رَّء۪اهُ اُ۪سۡتَغۡنۭيٰٓ

To your Guardian is the return.

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لرُّجۡعۭيٰٓ

Have you seen the one who forbids an obedient one when he makes the Contact?

أَرَءَيۡتَ اَ۬لَّذِي يَنۡهۭيٰ عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلّۭيٰٓ

Have you seen if he is upon guidance, or enjoins guardedness?

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى اَ۬لۡهُدۭيٰٓ أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقۡوۭيٰٓ

Have you seen if he denies and turns his back? Does he not know that God sees?

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّۭيٰٓ أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يَر۪يٰ

By no means! If he does not desist, We will surely seize him roughly by the forelock, a lying forelock, at fault!

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖ

Then let him call his assembly; We will call Our own.

فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ سَنَدۡعُ اُ۬لزَّبَانِيَةَ

By no means! Do not defer to him, but prostrate and draw near.

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَاَسۡجُدۡۤ وَاَقۡتَرِب۩
