An-Nahl
A Drink in Which There Is Healing
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. The command of God has come: so do not seek to hasten it.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ أَتَىٰٓ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُGlory be to Him, and He is far above what they associate with Him.
سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَHe sends down the Agents with the Influx, by His command, upon whom He wills among His obedient ones: "Warn that there is no deity but Me; so guard yourselves before Me."
يُنَزِّلُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ بِٱلرُّوحِ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱتَّقُونِHe created the heavens and the earth in truth.
خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ بِٱلْحَقِّHe is far above what they associate with Him.
تَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَHe created the human being from a drop, and behold, he is a declared quarreler.
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍۢ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭAnd the cattle, He created them:
وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمَ خَلَقَهَاin them you find warmth and benefits, and from them you eat.
لَكُمْ فِيهَا دِفْءٌۭ وَمَنَٰفِعُ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَAnd in them you find a beauty, when you bring them back in the evening and when you lead them out to pasture.
وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا جَمَالٌ حِينَ تُرِيحُونَ وَحِينَ تَسْرَحُونَAnd they carry your burdens to a land you would not have reached except with great hardship on yourselves:
وَتَحْمِلُ أَثْقَالَكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٍۢ لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ بَٰلِغِيهِ إِلَّا بِشِقِّ ٱلْأَنفُسِ- 16:7شعبةالدوريالسوسي
your Guardian is surely full of kindness, Benevolent.
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ And horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride, and as adornment.
وَٱلْخَيْلَ وَٱلْبِغَالَ وَٱلْحَمِيرَ لِتَرْكَبُوهَا وَزِينَةًۭAnd He creates what you do not know.
وَيَخْلُقُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَTo God belongs the tracing of the straight way; some of it veers off.
وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ قَصْدُ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمِنْهَا جَآئِرٌۭHad He willed, He would have guided you all.
وَلَوْ شَآءَ لَهَدَىٰكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَIt is He who sent down from the sky a water: from it you have a drink, and from it comes vegetation where you graze your herds.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌۭ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌۭ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ- 16:11شعبة
By it, He causes to grow for you the crops, the olive, the palms, the vines, and every kind of fruit:
يُنۢبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرْعَ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِيلَ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبَ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ there is surely in that a sign for a people who reflect.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَHe has subjected for you the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected by His command.
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ وَٱلنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓThere are surely in that signs for a people who reason.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَAnd what He has scattered for you on the earth, of varied colors:
وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥٓthere is surely in that a sign for a people who remember.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَذَّكَّرُونَIt is He who has subjected the sea, so that you may eat from it tender flesh and extract from it an ornament that you wear;
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمًۭا طَرِيًّۭا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةًۭ تَلْبَسُونَهَاand you see the vessels cleaving through it, so that you may seek of His favor, and that you may be grateful.
وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَAnd He cast upon the earth firmly-anchored mountains, so that it would not shake beneath you, and rivers and ways, so that you might be guided, and landmarks,
وَأَلْقَىٰ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَأَنْهَٰرًۭا وَسُبُلًۭا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ وَعَلَٰمَٰتٍۢand it is by the star that they find their way.
وَبِٱلنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَIs He who creates then like one who creates nothing?
أَفَمَن يَخْلُقُ كَمَن لَّا يَخْلُقُWill you not then remember?
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَIf you counted God's blessing, you could not enumerate it.
وَإِن تَعُدُّوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآGod is surely Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَغَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭGod knows what you keep secret and what you disclose.
وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ- 16:20ورشقالونالبزيقنبلالدوريالسوسي
Those you invoke besides God create nothing; it is they who are created.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ Dead, without life,
أَمْوَٰتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَآءٍۢand they do not sense when they will be raised.
وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَYour deity is a single deity.
إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌۭ وَٰحِدٌۭThose who do not believe in the last life have a denying core, and they swell with pride.
فَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مُّنكِرَةٌۭ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَThere is no doubt that God knows what they keep secret and what they disclose:
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَHe does not love those who swell with pride.
إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَAnd when it is said to them: "What has your Guardian sent down?" they say: "Legends of the ancients" — so as to bear, on the Day of Appearance, their burdens in full, and a portion of the burdens of those they mislead without knowledge:
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُم مَّاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟ أَوْزَارَهُمْ كَامِلَةًۭ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَمِنْ أَوْزَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُضِلُّونَهُم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍhow evil is what they weigh themselves down with!
أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَThose before them indeed plotted; but God seized their structure from the foundations, so that the roof collapsed upon them from above, and the punishment came to them from where they did not sense.
قَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنْيَٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّقْفُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَThen, on the Day of Appearance, He will cover them with disgrace and say: "Where are My associates, about whom you were in dissension?"
ثُمَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يُخْزِيهِمْ وَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تُشَٰٓقُّونَ فِيهِمْThose to whom knowledge was given will say: "Disgrace, today, and misfortune, are upon those who disown" — those the Agents keep faithfully, wronging themselves.
قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ إِنَّ ٱلْخِزْىَ ٱلْيَوْمَ وَٱلسُّوٓءَ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْThey then offer their submission: "We were doing no evil!" — But yes, indeed!
فَأَلْقَوُا۟ ٱلسَّلَمَ مَا كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ مِن سُوٓءٍۭ بَلَىٰٓGod is indeed All-Knowing of what you were doing.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَSo enter through the gates of Jahannam, to abide therein eternally:
فَٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاwhat a detestable abode for the proud!
فَلَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَAnd it is said to those who guarded themselves: "What has your Guardian sent down?" They say: "Something good."
وَقِيلَ لِلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ مَاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ قَالُوا۟ خَيْرًۭاFor those who do good, in the present life, there is good;
لِّلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ فِى هَٰذِهِ ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةٌۭbut the abode of the last life is better,
وَلَدَارُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌۭand what an excellent abode is that of those who guard themselves!
وَلَنِعْمَ دَارُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَThe Gardens of permanent abode, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow; they will have therein what they desire.
جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ يَدْخُلُونَهَا تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ لَهُمْ فِيهَا مَا يَشَآءُونَThus God recompenses those who guard themselves, those the Agents keep faithfully in a state of purity,
كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْزِى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ طَيِّبِينَsaying: "Peace be upon you! Enter the Garden, for what you used to do."
يَقُولُونَ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَDo they then wait only for the Agents to come to them, or for the command of your Guardian to come?
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَThus did those before them act.
كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْGod did not wrong them,
وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ ٱللَّهُbut it was themselves that they wronged.
وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَThe evils of what they did overtook them,
فَأَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا۟and what they used to mock enveloped them.
وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَThose who associated said: "Had God willed, we would not have obeyed anything besides Him, neither we nor our ancestors, nor would we have forbidden anything besides Him."
وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۢ نَّحْنُ وَلَآ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۢThus did those before them act.
كَذَٰلِكَ فَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْIs anything then incumbent upon the messengers, except clear transmission?
فَهَلْ عَلَى ٱلرُّسُلِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُWe have indeed raised up, in every community, a messenger: "Obey God and avoid the Tyrant,"
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَthere are among them those God has guided,
فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ هَدَى ٱللَّهُand there are those upon whom error has proven true.
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُSo travel the earth and look at what was the end of those who denied.
فَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ- 16:37ورشقالونالبزيقنبلالدوريالسوسي
If you are eager for their guidance, God does not guide him whom He lets go astray,
إِن تَحْرِصْ عَلَىٰ هُدَىٰهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَن يُضِلُّ and they will have no helpers.
وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّٰصِرِينَThey swore by God, with the utmost strength of their oaths, that God will not raise up the one who dies.
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَا يَبْعَثُ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَمُوتُBut yes indeed! It is a promise incumbent upon Him, in truth — but most people do not know — so that He may make clear to them that on which they differ, and so that those who disown may know that they were liars.
بَلَىٰ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّۭا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰذِبِينَOur only saying, for a thing, when We will it, is to say to it: "Be,"
إِنَّمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَىْءٍ إِذَآ أَرَدْنَٰهُ أَن نَّقُولَ لَهُۥ كُنand it is.
فَيَكُونُAnd those who emigrated for God, after having suffered injustice, We shall surely establish them in a fine position in the present life;
وَٱلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ فِى ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةًۭand the reward of the last life is even greater, if they knew —
وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَthose who were patient and who rely upon their Guardian.
ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ- 16:44ورششعبةقالونالبزيقنبلالدوريالسوسي
And We sent, before you, none but men to whom We revealed: so ask the keepers of the Reminder, if you do not know — with the clear proofs and the Formulary.
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًۭا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلزُّبُرِ And We have sent down to you the Reminder, so that you may make clear to the people what has been sent down to them, and perhaps they will reflect.
وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَAre those who plotted the evils then sure that God will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the punishment will not come to them from where they do not sense, or that He will not seize them in their comings and goings, without their being able to render Him powerless, or that He will not seize them in a gradual dread?
أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُوا۟ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخْسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِى تَقَلُّبِهِمْ فَمَا هُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَىٰ تَخَوُّفٍۢ- 16:47شعبةالدوريالسوسي
Your Guardian is surely full of kindness, Benevolent.
فَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ - 16:48الدوريالسوسي
Have they not seen that, of everything God has created, the shadows incline to the right and the left, prostrate before God, while they are abased?
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍۢ يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟ ظِلَٰلُهُۥ عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ سُجَّدًۭا لِّلَّهِ وَهُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ And before God prostrates everything in the heavens and on the earth, among living beings, as well as the Agents, without swelling with pride: they fear their Guardian, above them, and do what they are commanded.
وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن دَآبَّةٍۢ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ يَخَافُونَ رَبَّهُم مِّن فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَAnd God said: "Do not take two deities.
وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ إِلَٰهَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِHe is but a single deity;
إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌۭ وَٰحِدٌۭso it is Me you must revere."
فَإِيَّٰىَ فَٱرْهَبُونِTo Him belongs what is in the heavens and on the earth,
وَلَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِand to Him the Law, permanently.
وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًاIs it then before other than God that you guard yourselves?
أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَEvery blessing that is in you comes from God;
وَمَا بِكُم مِّن نِّعْمَةٍۢ فَمِنَ ٱللَّهِthen, when harm touches you, it is to Him that you cry out in distress.
ثُمَّ إِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فَإِلَيْهِ تَجْـَٔرُونَThen, when He removes harm from you, behold, a group among you associates others with its Guardian, so as to disown what We have given them.
ثُمَّ إِذَا كَشَفَ ٱلضُّرَّ عَنكُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنكُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ بِمَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْSo enjoy yourselves,
فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟but you will soon know.
فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَAnd they assign, to what they do not know, a share of what We have provided them.
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًۭا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْBy God, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَAnd they assign to God daughters — Glory be to Him!
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْبَنَٰتِ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥwhile for themselves is what they desire.
وَلَهُم مَّا يَشْتَهُونَAnd when one of them receives the news of a daughter, his face darkens, and he is filled with suppressed distress; he hides himself from the people, because of the ill news he was given:
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّۭا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌۭ يَتَوَٰرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ مِن سُوٓءِ مَا بُشِّرَ بِهِۦٓshall he keep her despite the degradation, or bury her in the ground?
أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ عَلَىٰ هُونٍ أَمْ يَدُسُّهُۥ فِى ٱلتُّرَابِHow detestable is what they decide!
أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَTo those who do not believe in the last life belongs the example of evil,
لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ مَثَلُ ٱلسَّوْءِand to God belongs the most exalted example:
وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَثَلُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰand He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُIf God were to seize the people for their injustice, He would not leave upon the earth a single living being;
وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍۢbut He defers them until an appointed term,
وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى- 16:61ورشقالونالسوسي
and when their term comes, they will not be able to delay it by an hour,
فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ سَاعَةًۭ nor advance it.
وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَAnd they assign to God what they themselves detest,
وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ مَا يَكْرَهُونَand their tongues describe the lie, claiming that to them belongs the best:
وَتَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ- 16:62ورش
there is no doubt that to them belongs the Fire, and that they will be sent forth into it first.
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَأَنَّهُم مُّفْرَطُونَ By God, We indeed sent messengers to communities before you; but the Diverter made their actions appear pleasing to them, and he is their ally today:
تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَand they will have a painful punishment.
وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭAnd We have sent down to you the Scripture only so that you may make clear to them that on which they differ, and as guidance and benevolence for a people who believe.
وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا لِتُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ وَهُدًۭى وَرَحْمَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَAnd God sent down from the sky a water, by which He revived the earth after its death:
وَٱللَّهُ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَآthere is surely in that a sign for a people who hear.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَسْمَعُونَAnd there is surely, for you, a lesson in the cattle:
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ لَعِبْرَةًۭ- 16:67ورش
We provide you drink from what is in their bellies, between chyme and blood, a pure milk, pleasant to drink for those who drink it; and from the fruits of palms and vines, you draw an intoxicating drink and an excellent provision.
نُّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِى بُطُونِهِۦ مِنۢ بَيْنِ فَرْثٍۢ وَدَمٍۢ لَّبَنًا خَالِصًۭا سَآئِغًۭا لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ وَمِن ثَمَرَٰتِ ٱلنَّخِيلِ وَٱلْأَعْنَٰبِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًۭا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا There is surely in that a sign for a people who reason.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَAnd your Guardian inspired the bee: "Take, among the mountains, houses, and in the trees and in what people build; then eat of all the fruits, and follow the ways of your Guardian, made docile."
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَى ٱلنَّحْلِ أَنِ ٱتَّخِذِى مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًۭا وَمِنَ ٱلشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ ثُمَّ كُلِى مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ فَٱسْلُكِى سُبُلَ رَبِّكِ ذُلُلًۭاFrom their bellies comes forth a drink of varied colors, in which there is healing for the people:
يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بُطُونِهَا شَرَابٌۭ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ فِيهِ شِفَآءٌۭ لِّلنَّاسِthere is surely in that a sign for a people who reflect.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَGod created you, then He keeps you faithfully;
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْand among you are those brought back to the most abject age, so as to know nothing more after having known.
وَمِنكُم مَّن يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَرْذَلِ ٱلْعُمُرِ لِكَىْ لَا يَعْلَمَ بَعْدَ عِلْمٍۢ شَيْـًٔاGod is indeed All-Knowing, Able.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۭ قَدِيرٌۭAnd God has favored some among you over others in provision:
وَٱللَّهُ فَضَّلَ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ فِى ٱلرِّزْقِthose who have been favored do not hand back their provision to those bound by pledge among them, so that they would be equal in it.
فَمَا ٱلَّذِينَ فُضِّلُوا۟ بِرَآدِّى رِزْقِهِمْ عَلَىٰ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيهِ سَوَآءٌ- 16:71شعبة
Would they then stubbornly reject the blessing of God?
أَفَبِنِعْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ And God has given you, from yourselves, spouses, and given you, from your spouses, children and grandchildren,
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم بَنِينَ وَحَفَدَةًۭand He has provided you with good things.
وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِWould they then believe in falsehood, and disown the blessing of God?
أَفَبِٱلْبَٰطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَتِ ٱللَّهِ هُمْ يَكْفُرُونَAnd they obey, besides God, what holds for them, from the heavens and the earth, no provision at all, and has no power to do so.
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَSo do not multiply examples for God:
فَلَا تَضْرِبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْثَالَGod knows,
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُand you do not know.
وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَGod multiplies an example: a constrained one, having no power at all, and one whom We have provided, from Us, with a fine provision, from which he spends secretly and openly — would they be equal?
ضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًا عَبْدًۭا مَّمْلُوكًۭا لَّا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ وَمَن رَّزَقْنَٰهُ مِنَّا رِزْقًا حَسَنًۭا فَهُوَ يُنفِقُ مِنْهُ سِرًّۭا وَجَهْرًا هَلْ يَسْتَوُۥنَPraise be to God!
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِBut most of them do not know.
بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَAnd God multiplies another example: two men, one of whom is mute, possessing no power at all, an entire burden upon his nearest guarantor; wherever he sends him, he brings back nothing good — is that one the equal of one who commands justice and stands upon a straight path?
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًۭا رَّجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَبْكَمُ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَىٰ مَوْلَىٰهُ أَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّههُّ لَا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى هُوَ وَمَن يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢTo God belongs what escapes the senses in the heavens and on the earth.
وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِThe matter of the Hour is only like the twinkling of an eye, or even swifter.
وَمَآ أَمْرُ ٱلسَّاعَةِ إِلَّا كَلَمْحِ ٱلْبَصَرِ أَوْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُGod is indeed capable of all things.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭAnd God brought you out of your mothers' bellies, knowing nothing,
وَٱللَّهُ أَخْرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًۭٔاand He appointed for you hearing, sight, and Consciences, perhaps you will be grateful.
وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَHave they not seen the birds, subjected in the space of the sky, held by nothing but God?
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ مُسَخَّرَٰتٍۢ فِى جَوِّ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُThere are surely in that signs for a people who believe.
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يُؤْمِنُونَAnd God has given you, from your houses, a peaceful abode, and He has given you, from the hides of cattle, houses you find light on the day of your departure and the day of your settling,
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنۢ بُيُوتِكُمْ سَكَنًۭا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّن جُلُودِ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ بُيُوتًۭا تَسْتَخِفُّونَهَا يَوْمَ ظَعْنِكُمْ وَيَوْمَ إِقَامَتِكُمْand, from their wool, their fur, and their hair, furnishings and use for a time.
وَمِنْ أَصْوَافِهَا وَأَوْبَارِهَا وَأَشْعَارِهَآ أَثَٰثًۭا وَمَتَٰعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢAnd God has given you, from what He created, shades, and He has given you, from the mountains, shelters, and He has given you tunics that protect you from the heat, and tunics that protect you from your own violence:
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُم مِّمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلَٰلًۭا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ أَكْنَٰنًۭا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ سَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُمُ ٱلْحَرَّ وَسَرَٰبِيلَ تَقِيكُم بَأْسَكُمْthus He completes His blessing upon you, perhaps you will be true to Him alone.
كَذَٰلِكَ يُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْلِمُونَIf they turn away, only clear transmission is incumbent upon you.
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْبَلَٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُThey recognize the blessing of God, then disavow it,
يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يُنكِرُونَهَاand most of them disown.
وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَAnd the Day We raise up, from every community, a witness, no permission will any longer be given to those who disown, nor will they be asked to make amends.
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا ثُمَّ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَAnd when those who were unjust see the punishment, it will neither be lightened for them, nor will they be granted a reprieve.
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ فَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَAnd when those who associated see their associates, they will say: "Our Guardian, these are our associates whom we used to invoke besides You."
وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَهُمْ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُرَكَآؤُنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِكَThese will then address these sayings to them: "You are surely liars."
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ إِنَّكُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَAnd they will offer to God, that Day, their submission,
وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلسَّلَمَand what they used to invent will stray away from them.
وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَThose who disown and who turned away from God's way — We shall add for them a punishment upon the punishment, for the corruption they spread.
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ زِدْنَٰهُمْ عَذَابًۭا فَوْقَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يُفْسِدُونَAnd the Day We raise up, in every community, a witness from among themselves, against it, and We bring you, as a witness against these,
وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِAnd We have sent down to you the Scripture, making everything clear, and as guidance, benevolence, and glad tidings for those who are true to God alone.
وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ تِبْيَٰنًۭا لِّكُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ وَهُدًۭى وَرَحْمَةًۭ وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَGod commands justice, beneficence, and giving to the close relative,
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَٱلْإِحْسَٰنِ وَإِيتَآئِ ذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰand He forbids indecency, what is disavowed, and aggression:
وَيَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْبَغْىِHe exhorts you, perhaps you will remember.
يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَAnd be faithful to God's pact when you make a pact,
وَأَوْفُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا عَٰهَدتُّمْand do not break oaths after affirming them, having taken God as a guarantor over you:
وَلَا تَنقُضُوا۟ ٱلْأَيْمَٰنَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيدِهَا وَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيلًاGod knows what you do.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَAnd do not be like her who unravels her thread, after having firmly spun it, reducing it to fibers; you take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, on the pretext that one community is more numerous than another:
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَٰثًۭا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمَّةٍGod only thereby tests you,
إِنَّمَا يَبْلُوكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦand He will surely make clear to you, on the Day of Appearance, that on which you differed.
وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَHad God willed, He would have made you a single community;
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭbut He lets go astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills,
وَلَٰكِن يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُand you will surely be questioned about what you did.
وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَAnd do not take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, or a foot would slip after having been firm, and you would taste evil for having turned away from God's way; and you would have an immense punishment.
وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ بَعْدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِمَا صَدَدتُّمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌۭAnd do not sell God's pact for a small price:
وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًۭا قَلِيلًاwhat is with God is better for you, if you knew.
إِنَّمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَWhat is with you is exhausted,
مَا عِندَكُمْ يَنفَدُand what is with God endures.
وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ بَاقٍۢ- 16:96ورشقالونالدوريالسوسي
And We shall surely reward those who were patient according to the best of their deeds.
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوٓا۟ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ Whoever does a sound deed, male or female, while being a believer, We shall surely make him live a good life, and We shall surely reward them according to the best of their deeds.
مَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ حَيَوٰةًۭ طَيِّبَةًۭ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَWhen you recite the Recitation, seek refuge with God from the banished Diverter.
فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِHe has no authority over those who believe and who rely upon their Guardian.
إِنَّهُۥ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ سُلْطَٰنٌ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَHis authority is exercised only over those who take him as ally, and over those who make him an associate.
إِنَّمَا سُلْطَٰنُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِهِۦ مُشْرِكُونَAnd when We substitute one sign for another sign — God knows best what He sends down — they say: "You are but an inventor."
وَإِذَا بَدَّلْنَآ ءَايَةًۭ مَّكَانَ ءَايَةٍۢ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُنَزِّلُ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُفْتَرٍۭBut most of them do not know.
بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَSay: "The sacred Influx has brought it down, from your Guardian, with truth, so as to make firm those who believe, and as guidance and glad tidings for those who are true to God alone."
قُلْ نَزَّلَهُۥ رُوحُ ٱلْقُدُسِ مِن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيُثَبِّتَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهُدًۭى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَWe will indeed know that they say: "It is only a human who teaches it to him."
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا يُعَلِّمُهُۥ بَشَرٌۭYet the tongue of the one to whom they allude is confused, whereas this tongue is flawless, explicit.
لِّسَانُ ٱلَّذِى يُلْحِدُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَعْجَمِىٌّۭ وَهَٰذَا لِسَانٌ عَرَبِىٌّۭ مُّبِينٌThose who do not believe in God's signs, God does not guide them,
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَهْدِيهِمُ ٱللَّهُand they will have a painful punishment.
وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌThose who invent falsehood are those who do not believe in God's signs,
إِنَّمَا يَفْتَرِى ٱلْكَذِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِand they are the liars.
وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَWhoever disowns God after having believed — except one who is coerced, while his core remains at peace in faith —
مَن كَفَرَ بِٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ إِيمَٰنِهِۦٓ إِلَّا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُۥ مُطْمَئِنٌّۢ بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِbut whoever opens his chest to disowning, upon them falls an anger from God,
وَلَٰكِن مَّن شَرَحَ بِٱلْكُفْرِ صَدْرًۭا فَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِand they will have an immense punishment.
وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌۭThat, because they preferred the present life to the last life, and because God does not guide the people who disown.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَThose are the ones on whose core, hearing, and sight God has set a seal,
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَٰرِهِمْand those are the heedless.
وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰفِلُونَThere is no doubt that, in the last life, they are the losers.
لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَThen, your Guardian, toward those who emigrated after having been tried, then strove and were patient — your Guardian, after that, is indeed Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا فُتِنُوا۟ ثُمَّ جَٰهَدُوا۟ وَصَبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭThe Day every Self will come pleading for itself, and every Self will be faithfully repaid for what it did, without being wronged.
يَوْمَ تَأْتِى كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ تُجَٰدِلُ عَن نَّفْسِهَا وَتُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ مَّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَAnd God multiplies an example: a city that was secure, at peace, to which its provision came abundantly from everywhere; then it disowned God's blessings, and God made it taste the garment of hunger and fear, for what they were fabricating.
وَضَرَبَ ٱللَّهُ مَثَلًۭا قَرْيَةًۭ كَانَتْ ءَامِنَةًۭ مُّطْمَئِنَّةًۭ يَأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَدًۭا مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانٍۢ فَكَفَرَتْ بِأَنْعُمِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَذَٰقَهَا ٱللَّهُ لِبَاسَ ٱلْجُوعِ وَٱلْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَA messenger, from among them, had indeed come to them, but they denied him; the punishment then seized them, while they were wrongdoers.
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَهُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَSo eat of what God has provided you, lawful and good,
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ حَلَٰلًۭا طَيِّبًۭاand be grateful for God's blessing, if it is Him alone that you obey.
وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَHe has forbidden you only the dead animal, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been consecrated to other than God.
إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةَ وَٱلدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦBut whoever is compelled to it, without being rebellious or crossing the limits, God is then Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍۢ وَلَا عَادٍۢ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭAnd do not say, for what your tongues falsely describe: "This is lawful and this is forbidden," so as to invent falsehood against God:
وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ لِمَا تَصِفُ أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ هَٰذَا حَلَٰلٌۭ وَهَٰذَا حَرَامٌۭ لِّتَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَthose who invent falsehood against God will not succeed.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُونَAn enjoyment of little worth,
مَتَٰعٌۭ قَلِيلٌۭand they will have a painful punishment.
وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭAnd to the Reoriented, We forbade what We have already set out to you;
وَعَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا مَا قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُWe did not wrong them,
وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْbut it was themselves that they wronged.
وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَThen, your Guardian, toward those who did evil out of ignorance, then repented after that and became sound — your Guardian, after that, is indeed Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لِلَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ ثُمَّ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌIbrahim was indeed a community unto himself, devoted to God, wholly turned toward Him, and he was not among those who associate,
إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةًۭ قَانِتًۭا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًۭا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَgrateful for His blessings.
شَاكِرًۭا لِّأَنْعُمِهِHe elected him and guided him to a straight path.
ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ وَهَدَىٰهُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢAnd We gave him, in the present life, good;
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةًۭand in the last life, he will surely be among those who are sound.
وَإِنَّهُۥ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَThen We revealed to you: "Follow the doctrine of Ibrahim, wholly turned toward God,"
ثُمَّ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ أَنِ ٱتَّبِعْ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًۭاand he was not among those who associate.
وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَThe Rest was laid only upon those who differed about it:
إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ ٱلسَّبْتُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِyour Guardian will surely judge between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning that in which they differed.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَCall to the way of your Guardian with wisdom and fine admonition, and argue with them in the finest manner.
ٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ وَجَٰدِلْهُم بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُYour Guardian indeed knows best who has strayed from His way,
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦand He knows best those who let themselves be guided.
وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَAnd if you pay back in kind, pay back to the exact measure of what was done to you;
وَإِنْ عَاقَبْتُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا۟ بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْتُم بِهِۦbut if you are patient, that is indeed better for those who are patient.
وَلَئِن صَبَرْتُمْ لَهُوَ خَيْرٌۭ لِّلصَّٰبِرِينَAnd be patient —
وَٱصْبِرْyet your patience rests only in God.
وَمَا صَبْرُكَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِAnd do not grieve over them, and do not be constrained because of what they plot.
وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُ فِى ضَيْقٍۢ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَGod is indeed with those who guard themselves and those who do good.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّٱلَّذِينَ هُم مُّحْسِنُونَ
