Sourate Fatir (35) vowelled

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Praise be to God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, who made the Agents envoys organized into departments — by twos, by threes, by fours.i 1

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ جَاعِلِ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُو۟لِىٓ أَجْنِحَةٍۢ مَّثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ

He adds to creation whatever He wills. 1

يَزِيدُ فِى ٱلْخَلْقِ مَا يَشَآءُ

God is able to do all things. 1

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌۭ

Whatever benevolence God opens up for mankind, none can withhold it, 2

مَّا يَفْتَحِ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِن رَّحْمَةٍۢ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَا

and whatever He withholds, none can release it after Him. 2

وَمَا يُمْسِكْ فَلَا مُرْسِلَ لَهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ

He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.i 2

وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ

O mankind, remember God's favor upon you. 3

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ

Is there any creator other than God who provides for you from the sky and the earth? 3

هَلْ مِنْ خَٰلِقٍ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ

There is no god but Him. 3

لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

How then are you turned away [from the truth]? 3

فَأَنَّىٰ تُؤْفَكُونَ

And if they call you a liar, envoys before you were already called liars. 4

وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌۭ مِّن قَبْلِكَ

And to God all matters return. 4

وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ

O mankind, God's promise is true. 5

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ

So let not the present life deceive you, 5

فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا

nor let the deceiver deceive you concerning God. 5

وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ

The Diverter is an enemy to you: so take him as an enemy.i 6

إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّا

He only calls his party so that they may be among the companions of the Blaze. 6

إِنَّمَا يَدْعُوا۟ حِزْبَهُۥ لِيَكُونُوا۟ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

Those who deny will have a severe punishment, 7

ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۭ

and those who believed and did righteous deeds will have forgiveness and a great reward. 7

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ وَأَجْرٌۭ كَبِيرٌ

The one to whom the evil of his deed has been made appealing, so that he sees it as good [is he comparable to the rightly guided]? 8

أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ فَرَءَاهُ حَسَنًۭا

God leaves astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. 8

فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ

So let not your Self waste away in grief over them.i 8

فَلَا تَذْهَبْ نَفْسُكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسَرَٰتٍ

God is All-Knowing of what they do. 8

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ

It is God who sends the winds, which stir up clouds; We drive them to a dead land, and by them We bring the earth to life after its death. 9

وَٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ فَتُثِيرُ سَحَابًۭا فَسُقْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ بَلَدٍۢ مَّيِّتٍۢ فَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا

البزي قنبل

So will be the Awakening.i 9

كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلنُّشُورُ

Whoever desires might should know that all might belongs to God. 10

مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلْعِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعًا

To Him ascends the good word, 10

إِلَيْهِ يَصْعَدُ ٱلْكَلِمُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ

and the righteous deed, He raises it. 10

وَٱلْعَمَلُ ٱلصَّٰلِحُ يَرْفَعُهُۥ

And those who scheme evil deeds will have a severe punishment, 10

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَمْكُرُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۭ

and the scheming of those is bound to perish. 10

وَمَكْرُ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُوَ يَبُورُ

God created you from dust, then from a drop of fluid, then made you into pairs.i 11

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍۢ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍۢ ثُمَّ جَعَلَكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا

No female conceives nor gives birth except with His knowledge. 11

وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِۦ

No being has his life extended, nor is his life shortened, except that it is in a record.i 11

وَمَا يُعَمَّرُ مِن مُّعَمَّرٍۢ وَلَا يُنقَصُ مِنْ عُمُرِهِۦٓ إِلَّا فِى كِتَٰبٍ

That is easy for God. 11

إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ يَسِيرٌۭ

The two seas are not alike: 12

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْبَحْرَانِ

this one is sweet, fresh, pleasant to drink, and that one is salty, bitter. 12

هَٰذَا عَذْبٌۭ فُرَاتٌۭ سَآئِغٌۭ شَرَابُهُۥ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌۭ

From each you eat fresh meat, and you extract an ornament that you wear, 12

وَمِن كُلٍّۢ تَأْكُلُونَ لَحْمًۭا طَرِيًّۭا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُونَ حِلْيَةًۭ تَلْبَسُونَهَا

and you see the ships cleaving through it, so that you may seek of His favor, and that you may be grateful. 12

وَتَرَى ٱلْفُلْكَ فِيهِ مَوَاخِرَ لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

He causes the night to enter into the day, and causes the day to enter into the night, 13

يُولِجُ ٱلَّيْلَ فِى ٱلنَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ ٱلنَّهَارَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ

and He has made the sun and the moon subservient, 13

وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ

each running toward an appointed term. 13

كُلٌّۭ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى

That is God, your Guardian; to Him belongs the dominion.i 13

ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ

And those you call upon besides Him do not possess even the skin of a date-stone. 13

وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِن قِطْمِيرٍ

If you call upon them, they do not hear your call; and even if they heard, they would not respond to you. 14

إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟ دُعَآءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا۟ مَا ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لَكُمْ

And on the Day of Appearance they will disown your association [with God].i 14

وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكْفُرُونَ بِشِرْكِكُمْ

And none can inform you like the One who is fully informed. 14

وَلَا يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبِيرٍۢ

O mankind, it is you who are the poor before God,i 15

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ أَنتُمُ ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ

while God is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy. 15

وَٱللَّهُ هُوَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ٱلْحَمِيدُ

If He willed, He would remove you and bring a new creation. 16

إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَأْتِ بِخَلْقٍۢ جَدِيدٍۢ

And that is not at all difficult for God.i 17

وَمَا ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ بِعَزِيزٍۢ

No bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another; 18

وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ

and if a heavily laden soul calls for help with its burden, nothing of it will be carried, even by a close relative. 18

وَإِن تَدْعُ مُثْقَلَةٌ إِلَىٰ حِمْلِهَا لَا يُحْمَلْ مِنْهُ شَىْءٌۭ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰٓ

You warn usefully only those who fear their Guardian unseen, and maintain the Contact, 18

إِنَّمَا تُنذِرُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ

and whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for his own sake.i 18

وَمَن تَزَكَّىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَتَزَكَّىٰ لِنَفْسِهِۦ

And to God is the ultimate becoming. 18

وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

The blind and the seeing are not equal, nor are darkness and light, nor shade and scorching heat. 21

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ وَلَا ٱلظُّلُمَٰتُ وَلَا ٱلنُّورُ وَلَا ٱلظِّلُّ وَلَا ٱلْحَرُورُ

Nor are the living and the dead equal. 22

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَحْيَآءُ وَلَا ٱلْأَمْوَٰتُ

God makes whoever He wills hear, 22

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسْمِعُ مَن يَشَآءُ

and you cannot make those in the graves hear. 22

وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُسْمِعٍۢ مَّن فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ

You are but a warner. 23

إِنْ أَنتَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ

We have sent you with the truth, as a bearer of good news and a warner. 24

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ بَشِيرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا

And there is no community but a warner passed among it. 24

وَإِن مِّنْ أُمَّةٍ إِلَّا خَلَا فِيهَا نَذِيرٌۭ

And if they call you a liar, those before them also called [their envoys] liars: their envoys came to them with clear proofs, the Formularies, and the Illuminating Scripture; then I seized those who denied.i 26

وَإِن يُكَذِّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَبِٱلزُّبُرِ وَبِٱلْكِتَٰبِ ٱلْمُنِيرِ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟

And how was My disavowal! 26

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ

Do you not see that God sends down water from the sky, by which We bring forth fruits of varying colors? 27

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ ثَمَرَٰتٍۢ مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهَا

And in the mountains are tracts, white and red, of varying colors, and others intensely black. 27

وَمِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ جُدَدٌۢ بِيضٌۭ وَحُمْرٌۭ مُّخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهَا وَغَرَابِيبُ سُودٌۭ

And among mankind, and beasts, and livestock, there is likewise a variety of colors. 28

وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَٱلدَّوَآبِّ وَٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ مُخْتَلِفٌ أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ كَذَٰلِكَ

Only those among His obedient ones who know truly fear God. 28

إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ٱلْعُلَمَٰٓؤُا۟

God is All-Powerful, Forgiving.i 28

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ غَفُورٌ

Those who recite the Scripture of God, maintain the Contact, and spend, secretly and openly, from what We have provided them, hope for a trade that will never perish, so that He may repay them fully and increase them from His favor.i 30

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ سِرًّۭا وَعَلَانِيَةًۭ يَرْجُونَ تِجَٰرَةًۭ لَّن تَبُورَ لِيُوَفِّيَهُمْ أُجُورَهُمْ وَيَزِيدَهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦٓ

He is Forgiving, Ever-Thankful. 30

إِنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌۭ شَكُورٌۭ

And what We have revealed to you of the Scripture is the truth, confirming what came before it.i 31

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ

God is, toward His obedient ones, fully informed, All-Seeing. 31

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ لَخَبِيرٌۢ بَصِيرٌۭ

Then We caused the Scripture to be inherited by those We chose among Our obedient ones:i 32

ثُمَّ أَوْرَثْنَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱصْطَفَيْنَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا

some of them wrong their own Self,i 32

فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ

some follow a moderate course, 32

وَمِنْهُم مُّقْتَصِدٌۭ

and some race ahead in good deeds, by God's permission. 32

وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌۢ بِٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ

That is the great favor. 32

ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَضْلُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ

Gardens of Eden, which they will enter, adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls, 33

جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ يَدْخُلُونَهَا يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٍۢ وَلُؤْلُؤًۭا

and their garment therein will be silk. 33

وَلِبَاسُهُمْ فِيهَا حَرِيرٌۭ

And they will say: "Praise be to God, who has removed sorrow from us; our Guardian is indeed Forgiving, Ever-Thankful, 34

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَذْهَبَ عَنَّا ٱلْحَزَنَ إِنَّ رَبَّنَا لَغَفُورٌۭ شَكُورٌ

who has settled us, by His favor, in the abode of everlasting stay, where no fatigue touches us, nor any weariness." 35

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَحَلَّنَا دَارَ ٱلْمُقَامَةِ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ لَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيهَا نَصَبٌۭ وَلَا يَمَسُّنَا فِيهَا لُغُوبٌۭ

And those who deny will have the fire of Jahannam; it will not be decreed for them to die, nor will its punishment be lightened for them. 36

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَهُمْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يُقْضَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ فَيَمُوتُوا۟ وَلَا يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُم مِّنْ عَذَابِهَا

Thus do We repay every great denier. 36

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى كُلَّ كَفُورٍۢ

الدوري السوسي

And there they will cry out: "Our Guardian, bring us out, we will do righteousness, other than what we used to do!" 37

وَهُمْ يَصْطَرِخُونَ فِيهَا رَبَّنَآ أَخْرِجْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحًا غَيْرَ ٱلَّذِى كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ

Did We not grant you a life long enough that whoever wished to reflect could reflect? And the warner had come to you. 37

أَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُم مَّا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيهِ مَن تَذَكَّرَ وَجَآءَكُمُ ٱلنَّذِيرُ

السوسي

So taste, 37

فَذُوقُوا۟

for the wrongdoers have no helper. 37

فَمَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِن نَّصِيرٍ

God knows what escapes the senses in the heavens and the earth;i 38

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَٰلِمُ غَيْبِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ

He is All-Knowing of what the chests contain.i 38

إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

It is He who made you successors on the earth: 39

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ

whoever denies, his denial falls back upon him, 39

فَمَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيْهِ كُفْرُهُۥ

and the denial of the deniers only increases them, before their Guardian, in aversion, 39

وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا مَقْتًۭا

and the denial of the deniers only increases them in loss. 39

وَلَا يَزِيدُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ كُفْرُهُمْ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا

Say: "Have you seen your partners whom you call upon besides God? Show me what they have created of the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens? 40

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ شُرَكَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌۭ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

Or have We given them a scripture, so that they rely on clear proofs from it?"i 40

أَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ كِتَٰبًۭا فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَتٍۢ مِّنْهُ

ورش شعبة قالون

Rather, the wrongdoers promise one another nothing but delusion. 40

بَلْ إِن يَعِدُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا إِلَّا غُرُورًا

God holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease to exist; 41

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُمْسِكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ أَن تَزُولَا

and were they to cease, none besides Him could hold them. 41

وَلَئِن زَالَتَآ إِنْ أَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِۦٓ

He is thoughtful, Forgiving.i 41

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًۭا

And they swore by God their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would surely be better guided than any of the communities. 42

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْ إِحْدَى ٱلْأُمَمِ

But when a warner came to them, it only increased them in aversion, 42

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مَّا زَادَهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا

out of arrogance in the land, and evil scheming. 43

ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَكْرَ ٱلسَّيِّئِ

قالون

But evil scheming only encircles its own doers. 43

وَلَا يَحِيقُ ٱلْمَكْرُ ٱلسَّيِّئُ إِلَّا بِأَهْلِهِۦ

So do they await anything but the pattern of the former peoples? 43

فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا سُنَّتَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

But you will never find any change to God's pattern, 43

فَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًۭا

nor will you ever find any shift in God's pattern. 43

وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّتِ ٱللَّهِ تَحْوِيلًا

Have they not traveled through the land and seen what became of those before them, who were even greater than them in strength? 44

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَكَانُوٓا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةًۭ

السوسي

And nothing in the heavens or on the earth could render God powerless. 44

وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعْجِزَهُۥ مِن شَىْءٍۢ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ

He is All-Knowing, All-Capable. 44

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَلِيمًۭا قَدِيرًۭا

And if God were to seize mankind for what they have earned, He would not leave upon it [the earth] any living creature; 45

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّاسَ بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ مَا تَرَكَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهَا مِن دَآبَّةٍۢ

but He defers them until an appointed term. 45

وَلَٰكِن يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى

And when their term comes, God is, toward His obedient ones, All-Seeing. 45

فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ بَصِيرًۢا
