Al-Hujurat
Distinguish Clearly
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O you who have believed! do not put yourselves before God and His messenger.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦAnd guard yourselves toward God.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَGod is indeed the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌۭ- 49:2ورشقالون
O you who have believed! do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, and do not speak loudly to him as you speak loudly to one another, lest your deeds collapse without your realizing it.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَرْفَعُوٓا۟ أَصْوَٰتَكُمْ فَوْقَ صَوْتِ ٱلنَّبِىِّ وَلَا تَجْهَرُوا۟ لَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ كَجَهْرِ بَعْضِكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ أَن تَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ Those who lower their voices in the presence of the messenger of God are those whose cores God has examined for guardedness.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَغُضُّونَ أَصْوَٰتَهُمْ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱمْتَحَنَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ لِلتَّقْوَىٰThey will have forgiveness and an immense reward.
لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌThose who call out to you from behind the [private] chambers, most of them do not reason.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُنَادُونَكَ مِن وَرَآءِ ٱلْحُجُرَٰتِ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَHad they been patient until you came out to them, it would have been better for them.
وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ صَبَرُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ تَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِمْ لَكَانَ خَيْرًۭا لَّهُمْGod is Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭO you who have believed! if an overstepper brings you a piece of information, distinguish clearly, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and then become, over what you have done, full of regret.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن جَآءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌۢ بِنَبَإٍۢ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ أَن تُصِيبُوا۟ قَوْمًۢا بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ فَتُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَٰدِمِينَKnow that the messenger of God is among you; were he to obey you in many matters, you would be in great difficulty.
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ لَوْ يُطِيعُكُمْ فِى كَثِيرٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ لَعَنِتُّمْBut God has made faith dear to you and embellished it in your cores, and has made you detest the disowning [of the truth], overstepping, and disobedience.
وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَبَّبَ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلْإِيمَٰنَ وَزَيَّنَهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلْكُفْرَ وَٱلْفُسُوقَ وَٱلْعِصْيَانَThose are the ones who have rectitude, by a favor and a blessing from God.
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلرَّٰشِدُونَ فَضْلًۭا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَنِعْمَةًۭGod is All-Knowing, Wise.
وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۭAnd if two groups of believers fight each other, reconcile between them.
وَإِن طَآئِفَتَانِ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱقْتَتَلُوا۟ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَهُمَاIf one of the two commits aggression against the other, fight the one that commits aggression until it returns to the command of God.
فَإِنۢ بَغَتْ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا عَلَى ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ فَقَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلَّتِى تَبْغِى حَتَّىٰ تَفِىٓءَ إِلَىٰٓ أَمْرِ ٱللَّهِIf it returns, reconcile between them with justice, and be equitable.
فَإِن فَآءَتْ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَهُمَا بِٱلْعَدْلِ وَأَقْسِطُوٓا۟God indeed loves the equitable.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَThe believers are but brothers; so reconcile between your two brothers.
إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌۭ فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ بَيْنَ أَخَوَيْكُمْAnd guard yourselves toward God, so that you may receive benevolence.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَO you who have believed! let not a people mock [another] people: it may be that they are better than them; nor let women mock [other] women: it may be that they are better than them.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا يَسْخَرْ قَوْمٌۭ مِّن قَوْمٍ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونُوا۟ خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا نِسَآءٌۭ مِّن نِّسَآءٍ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُنَّ خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهُنَّDo not disparage yourselves by insinuation, and do not call each other by offensive nicknames.
وَلَا تَلْمِزُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَلَا تَنَابَزُوا۟ بِٱلْأَلْقَٰبِWhat a wretched attribute is overstepping, after faith!
بِئْسَ ٱلِٱسْمُ ٱلْفُسُوقُ بَعْدَ ٱلْإِيمَٰنِAnd whoever does not repent, those are the wrongdoers.
وَمَن لَّمْ يَتُبْ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَO you who have believed! avoid much conjecture.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ كَثِيرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلظَّنِّFor some conjecture is a transgression.
إِنَّ بَعْضَ ٱلظَّنِّ إِثْمٌۭAnd do not spy.
وَلَا تَجَسَّسُوا۟And let none of you backbite another.
وَلَا يَغْتَب بَّعْضُكُم بَعْضًاWould any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would detest it.
أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَن يَأْكُلَ لَحْمَ أَخِيهِ مَيْتًۭا فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُAnd guard yourselves toward God.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَGod is indeed the Ever-Accepter of repentance, Benevolent.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭO mankind! We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes, so that you may recognize one another.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰكُم مِّن ذَكَرٍۢ وَأُنثَىٰ وَجَعَلْنَٰكُمْ شُعُوبًۭا وَقَبَآئِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوٓا۟The most noble of you, with God, is the most guarded.
إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتْقَىٰكُمْGod is indeed All-Knowing, Informed.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌۭThe notables said: "We have believed." Say: "You have not believed; rather say: We have become true to God alone," for faith has not yet entered your cores.
قَالَتِ ٱلْأَعْرَابُ ءَامَنَّا قُل لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ وَلَٰكِن قُولُوٓا۟ أَسْلَمْنَا وَلَمَّا يَدْخُلِ ٱلْإِيمَٰنُ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ- 49:14السوسي
And if you obey God and His messenger, He will not diminish your deeds in anything.
وَإِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ لَا يَلِتْكُم مِّنْ أَعْمَٰلِكُمْ شَيْـًٔا God is indeed Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌThe believers are only those who have believed in God and His messenger, then have not doubted, and have striven with their goods and their Selves in the way of God.
إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْتَابُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِThose are the truthful.
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصَّٰدِقُونَSay: "Do you inform God of your Law, while God knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth?"
قُلْ أَتُعَلِّمُونَ ٱللَّهَ بِدِينِكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِGod is All-Knowing of all things.
وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۭThey regard it as a favor to you that they have become true to God alone.
يَمُنُّونَ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ أَسْلَمُوا۟Say: "Do not regard your true adherence to God alone as a favor to me."
قُل لَّا تَمُنُّوا۟ عَلَىَّ إِسْلَٰمَكُمRather, it is God who bestows a favor upon you in that He has guided you to faith, if you are truthful.
بَلِ ٱللَّهُ يَمُنُّ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ هَدَىٰكُمْ لِلْإِيمَٰنِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَGod knows what escapes the senses in the heavens and the earth.
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ غَيْبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ- 49:18البزيقنبل
God sees perfectly what you do.
وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
