Sourate Al-Mulk (67) vowelled

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Benevolent. Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion, and He is capable of all things,i 1

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ تَبَٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِى بِيَدِهِ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ

who created death and life to test you: which of you does best in deeds. 2

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَٱلْحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًۭا

And He is the All-Powerful, the Forgiving.i 2

وَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْغَفُورُ

He who created seven heavens in layers. 3

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا

You do not see in the creation of the Most Compassionate any disharmony. 3

مَّا تَرَىٰ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مِن تَفَٰوُتٍۢ

Return your gaze: do you see any flaw? 3

فَٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ هَلْ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٍۢ

Then return your gaze twice more: your gaze will return to you humbled and exhausted. 4

ثُمَّ ٱرْجِعِ ٱلْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًۭا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌۭ

We have indeed adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and made them missiles against the Diverters, and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.i 5

وَلَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَٰبِيحَ وَجَعَلْنَٰهَا رُجُومًۭا لِّلشَّيَٰطِينِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

And for those who denied [the truth about] their Guardian is the punishment of Jahannam,i 6

وَلِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ

and what a wretched destination! 6

وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

When they are thrown into it, they will hear it roaring as it boils, almost bursting with fury. 8

إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًۭا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ

Every time a group is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them: 'Did no warner come to you?' 8

كُلَّمَآ أُلْقِىَ فِيهَا فَوْجٌۭ سَأَلَهُمْ خَزَنَتُهَآ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ

They will say: 'Yes, a warner did come to us, but we denied him and said: God has not sent down anything, you are only in great error.' 9

قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَآءَنَا نَذِيرٌۭ فَكَذَّبْنَا وَقُلْنَا مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ كَبِيرٍۢ

And they will say: 'If we had listened or reasoned, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze.' 10

وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

So they will acknowledge their wrong: 11

فَٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذَنۢبِهِمْ

so away with the companions of the Blaze! 11

فَسُحْقًۭا لِّأَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

Those who fear their Guardian without seeing Him will have forgiveness and a great reward.i 12

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ وَأَجْرٌۭ كَبِيرٌۭ

Whether you keep your speech secret or proclaim it, 13

وَأَسِرُّوا۟ قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ ٱجْهَرُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ

He is Knower of what is in the breasts. 13

إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

Would He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the All-Aware? 14

أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ

It is He who made the earth manageable for you; so walk through its expanses and eat from His provision. 15

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًۭا فَٱمْشُوا۟ فِى مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا۟ مِن رِّزْقِهِۦ

And to Him is the Awakening.i 15

وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلنُّشُورُ

Do you feel secure that He who is in the heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you, whereupon it sways? 16

ءَأَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يَخْسِفَ بِكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَمُورُ

Or do you feel secure that He who is in the heaven will not send against you a violent storm of stones? 17

أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًۭا

Then you will know how My warning was. 17

فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ

Those before them certainly denied, 18

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ

and how was My rejection! 18

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ نَكِيرِ

Have they not observed the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? 19

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلطَّيْرِ فَوْقَهُمْ صَٰٓفَّٰتٍۢ وَيَقْبِضْنَ

السوسي

Nothing holds them up except the Most Compassionate. 19

مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ

He is, of all things, All-Seeing. 19

إِنَّهُۥ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍۭ بَصِيرٌ

Or who is it that would be an army for you and help you, besides the Most Compassionate? 20

أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌۭ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ

Those who deny are only in delusion.i 20

إِنِ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ

Or who is it that would provide for you, if He withheld His provision? 21

أَمَّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَرْزُقُكُمْ إِنْ أَمْسَكَ رِزْقَهُۥ

Yet they persist in insolence and aversion. 21

بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّۢ وَنُفُورٍ

Is he who walks fallen on his face better guided, or he who walks upright on a straight path? 22

أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦٓ أَهْدَىٰٓ أَمَّن يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

Say: 'It is He who brought you into being and gave you hearing, sight, and inner awareness.' 23

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَكُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ

Little do you give thanks. 23

قَلِيلًۭا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Say: 'It is He who scattered you upon the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.' 24

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

And they say: 'When will this promise be, if you are truthful?' 25

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

Say: 'The knowledge is only with God; I am only a clear warner.' 26

قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْعِلْمُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ

Then, when they see it near, the faces of those who denied will be grieved, and it will be said: 'This is what you used to call for.'i 27

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةًۭ سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ

Say: 'Consider: whether God destroys me and those with me, or has benevolence on us, who will shield those who deny from a painful punishment?' 28

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن مَّعِىَ أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَن يُجِيرُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ

Say: 'He is the Most Compassionate; we believe in Him and upon Him we place our trust.' 29

قُلْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ءَامَنَّا بِهِۦ وَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا

You will soon know who is in manifest error. 29

فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

Say: 'Consider: if your water were to sink into the ground, who then would bring you clear flowing water?' 30

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَصْبَحَ مَآؤُكُمْ غَوْرًۭا فَمَن يَأْتِيكُم بِمَآءٍۢ مَّعِينٍۭ
