The Appointed Time
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. About what?
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ عَمَّThey are asking one another about the great Information, over which they are in disagreement.
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَBy no means! They will know. Then, by no means! They will know.
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَHave We not made the earth a resting place, and the mountains as pegs? Have We not created you in pairs, and made your sleep a rest? Have We not made the night a covering, and the day for livelihood? Have We not built above you seven strong [heavens], and placed therein a blazing torch? And sent down from the pressing clouds abundant water, that We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation, and intertwined gardens?
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَٰدًۭا وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًۭا وَخَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًۭا وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًۭا وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًۭا وَهَّاجًۭا وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءًۭ ثَجَّاجًۭا لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّۭا وَنَبَاتًۭا وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلْفَافًاIndeed, the Day of Separation is an appointed time — the Day the Horn is blown, and you come in crowds, and the sky is opened and becomes gates, and the mountains are set moving and become a mirage.
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتًۭا يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًۭا وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًۭا وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًاIndeed, Jahannam is a lookout post — a place of return for those who exceed all measure, wherein they will remain for prolonged periods.
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًۭا لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًۭا لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًۭاThey will taste therein neither coolness nor drink, except scalding water and a foul, dark fluid — a fitting recompense.
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًۭا وَلَا شَرَابًا إِلَّا حَمِيمًۭا وَغَسَّاقًۭا جَزَآءًۭ وِفَاقًاIndeed, they were not expecting a reckoning, and they denied Our signs with emphatic denial.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًۭا وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابًۭاBut everything We have enumerated in a record.
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ كِتَٰبًۭاSo taste! We will only increase you in punishment.
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًاIndeed, for those who guarded themselves is a triumph - enclosed gardens and vineyards, and companions full of vitality, fertile and of shared stock, and a brimming cup. They will hear therein neither vain talk nor lies -
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَٰبًۭا وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًۭا وَكَأْسًۭا دِهَاقًۭا لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًۭاa recompense from your Guardian, a gift, well accounted,
جَزَآءًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًۭاGuardian of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them,
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَاthe All-Benevolent; they possess no right to address Him,
ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًۭاthe Day the Influx and the Agents will stand in ranks, none speaking except one to whom the All-Benevolent has given permission, and who will say what is right.
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّۭا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًۭاThat is the True Day.
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّSo whoever wills may take, toward his Guardian, a place of return.
فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًاIndeed, We have warned you of an imminent punishment — the Day when man will observe what his hands have prepared, and the one who disowns will say, "Oh, that I were earth!"
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَٰكُمْ عَذَابًۭا قَرِيبًۭا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
