Al-Inshiqaq

  • In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. When the sky splits open, and obeys its Guardian — and it is obligated to do so —, and when the earth is extended, and casts out what is within it and empties itself, and obeys its Guardian — and it is obligated to do so.i 5
  • O mankind! Indeed, you are laboring toward your Guardian with great exertion and will meet Him. 6
  • Then as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will be judged with an easy account, and return to his people in joy.i 9
  • But as for him who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for destruction, and he will burn in a blazing fire.i 12
  • Indeed, he had been joyful among his people. 13
  • Indeed, he thought he would never return. But yes! 15
  • Indeed, his Guardian was ever observing him. 15
  • So I swear by the twilight glow, and by the night and what it envelops, and by the moon when it becomes full! You will surely embark upon state after state. 19
  • So what is the matter with them that they do not believe? And when the Recitation is read to them, they do not prostrate? 21
  • Rather, those who reject deny, and God knows best what they hoard. 23
  • So give them the tidings of a painful punishment, 24
  • except for those who believe and do righteous deeds; for them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
