Al-Ghashiya

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Has the discourse concerning the All-Covering reached you?

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ

Some faces, that Day, will be humble, toiling, exhausted. They will be made to burn in a scorching fire, given drink from a boiling spring.

وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞ تُصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗ تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖ

They will have no food except dry thorns, which neither fatten nor avail against hunger.

لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖ لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖ

Some faces, that Day, will be in bliss, pleased with their effort, in a lofty garden, where no idle talk will be heard.

وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞ لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞ فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗ

Therein is a flowing spring.

فِيهَا عَيۡنٞ جَارِيَةٞ

Therein are elevated couches, and goblets set out, and cushions lined up, and carpets spread out.

فِيهَا سُرُرٞ مَّرۡفُوعَةٞ وَأَكۡوَابٞ مَّوۡضُوعَةٞ وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةٞ وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌ

Do they not look at the massive animals, how they were created? And at the sky, how it was elevated? And at the mountains, how they were set up? And at the earth, how it was laid flat?

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ

So remind; you are only one who reminds.

فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٞ

You have no power to compel them.

لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ

Except one who has turned his back and disowned — God will punish him with the greatest punishment.

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ

To Us is their resort, then upon Us is their reckoning.

إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡ ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُم
