Ad-Dukhan الدخان

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. حمٓ (Ḥa Mim).

بِسۡمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحۡمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ حۭمٓۚ

By the clear Scripture! We indeed sent it down in a blessed night; We are warners.

وَاَلۡكِتَٰبِ اِ۬لۡمُبِينِ إِنَّا أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةٖ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ

In it, every wise matter is set apart, a command from Us,

فِيهَا يُفۡرَق كُّلُّ أَمۡرٍ حَكِيمٍ أَمۡرٗا مِّنۡ عِندِنَاۚ

for it is He, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing,

إِنَّه هُّوَ اَ۬لسَّمِيعُ اُ۬لۡعَلِيمُ

the Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you are of those who know with certainty.

رَبُّ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَاۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ

your Guardian and the Guardian of your earliest forefathers.

رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ اُ۬لۡأَوَّلِينَ

But they play in doubt.

بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ

this is a painful punishment.

هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ

"Our Guardian, remove the punishment from us, for we believe."

رَّبَّنَا اَ۪كۡشِفۡ عَنَّا اَ۬لۡعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُومِنُونَ

How would the reminder benefit them, when a clear messenger had come to them, then they turned their backs on him and said: "One taught, deranged"?

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ اُ۬لذِّكۡر۪يٰ وَقَد جَّآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ مُّبِينٞ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ وَقَالُواْ مُعَلَّمٞ مَّجۡنُونٌ

but you will indeed relapse.

إِنَّكُمۡ عَآئِدُونَ

We will indeed take vengeance.

إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ

Before them, We tried the people of Fir'awn, and a noble messenger came to them: "Hand over to me the obedient ones of God; I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger; and do not exalt yourselves against God — I bring you manifest authority; and I take refuge in my Guardian and yours against your banishing me; and if you do not give me credit, then keep away from me."

وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَجَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ كَرِيمٌ أَنۡ أَدُّواْ إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ وَأَن لَّا تَعۡلُواْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ إِنِّيَ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ وَإِنِّي عُذتُّ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمۡ أَن تَرۡجُمُونِ وَإِن لَّمۡ تُومِنُواْ لِي فَاَعۡتَزِلُونِ

So he called upon his Guardian: "These are a severed people."

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَآءِ قَوۡمٞ مُّجۡرِمُونَ

for they are an army that will be drowned."

إِنَّهُمۡ جُندٞ مُّغۡرَقُونَ

How many gardens and springs they left behind, and crops, and noble stations, and well-being in which they took delight.

كَمۡ تَرَكُواْ مِن جَنَّٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ وَزُرُوعٖ وَمَقَامٖ كَرِيمٖ وَنَعۡمَةٖ كَانُواْ فِيهَا فَٰكِهِينَ

And We made another people inherit them.

وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِينَ

Neither the sky nor the earth wept over them, and they were granted no reprieve.

فَمَا بَكَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمِ اِ۬لسَّمَآءُ وَاَلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنظَرِينَ

for he was, among the excessive, a haughty one.

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيٗا مِّنَ اَ۬لۡمُسۡرِفِينَ

We indeed opted for them, knowingly, above all beings, and We gave them, among the signs, that which held a manifest testing.

وَلَقَدِ اِ۪خۡتَرۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عَلَى اَ۬لۡعَٰلَمِينَ وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لۡأٓيَٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَٰٓؤٞاْ مُّبِينٌ

These surely say: "There is nothing but our first death, and we will not be deployed. Bring back our forefathers, if you are veracious."

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوۡتَتُنَا اَ۬لۡأُولۭيٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ فَاتُواْ بِـَٔابَآئِنَا إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ

for they were severed.

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ مُجۡرِمِينَ

We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in play.

وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ

but most of them do not know.

وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ

for He is the All-Powerful, the Benevolent.

إِنَّه هُّوَ اَ۬لۡعَزِيزُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُ

Indeed, the tree of Zaqqoum is the food of the hardened transgressor; like molten metal, it boils in the bellies as boiling water boils.

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ اَ۬لزَّقُّومِ طَعَامُ اُ۬لۡأَثِيمِ كَاَلۡمُهۡلِ تَغۡلِي فِي اِ۬لۡبُطُونِ كَغَلۡيِ اِ۬لۡحَمِيمِ

For it is you, the mighty, the noble!"

إِنَّكَ أَنتَ اَ۬لۡعَزِيزُ اُ۬لۡكَرِيمُ

This is indeed what you used to contend about.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمۡتَرُونَ

Those who guard themselves will indeed be in a secure place, in gardens and springs, wearing fine silk and brocade, facing one another.

إِنَّ اَ۬لۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٖ فِي جَنَّٰتٖ وَعُيُونٖ يَلۡبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٖ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ

And We will unite them with companions of listening and support.

وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٖ

They will call therein for every savoury fruit, secure.

يَدۡعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ

except the first death.

إِلَّا اَ۬لۡمَوۡتَةَ اَ۬لۡأُولۭيٰۖ

That is the immense triumph.

ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ اَ۬لۡفَوۡزُ اُ۬لۡعَظِيمُ

We have made it easy on your tongue only in the hope that they will remember.

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرۡنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

for they are watching.

إِنَّهُم مُّرۡتَقِبُونَ
