Nuh

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. We sent Nuh to his people: "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَنْ يَّأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞۖ

for the term of God, when it comes, cannot be adjourned, if you only knew."

إِنَّ أَجَلَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَۖ

He said, "My Guardian, indeed I have called my people night and day, but my call has only increased them in flight.

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّے دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِے لَيْلاٗ وَنَهَاراٗ فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِيَ إِلَّا فِرَاراٗۖ

And every time I called them, that You might forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their clothes, persisted, and grew proud, fully.

وَإِنِّے كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُواْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِے ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْاْ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ اُ۪سْتِكْبَاراٗۖ

Then I called them openly,

ثُمَّ إِنِّے دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَاراٗۖ

then I announced to them publicly and confided to them privately, and said: Ask forgiveness of your Guardian; indeed, He is ever a Great Forgiver. He will send upon you the sky in copious streams, and provide you with goods and sons, and give you gardens, and give you rivers.

ثُمَّ إِنِّيَ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَاراٗ فَقُلْتُ اُ۪سْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّاراٗ يُرْسِلِ اِ۬لسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَاراٗ وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٖ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰراٗۖ

What is with you, that you do not hope from God for gravity, when He has created you in successive stages?

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلهِ وَقَاراٗ وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَاراًۖ

Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in layers, and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a torch?

۞ أَلَمْ تَرَوْاْ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اَ۬للَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقاٗ وَجَعَلَ اَ۬لْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُوراٗ وَجَعَلَ اَ۬لشَّمْسَ سِرَاجاٗۖ

And God has caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. Then He will bring you back into it and bring you out anew.

وَاللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْأَرْضِ نَبَاتاٗ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجاٗۖ

And God has made for you the earth an expanse, that you may follow therein ways, wide passes."

وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لْأَرْضَ بِسَاطاٗ لِّتَسْلُكُواْ مِنْهَا سُبُلاٗ فِجَاجاٗۖ

Nuh said, "My Guardian, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose goods and children increased him not except in loss, and they have plotted a very great plot,

قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِے وَاتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥ إِلَّا خَسَاراٗ وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْراٗ كُبَّاراٗۖ

and said: Never forsake your deities, nor forsake Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, nor Ya'uq, nor Nasr.

وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وُدّاٗ وَلَا سُوَاعاٗ وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْراٗۖ

And do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."

وَلَا تَزِدِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلاٗۖ

Because of their faults they were drowned and put into a fire, and they found none besides God to help them.

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُواْ فَأُدْخِلُواْ نَاراٗ فَلَمْ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ أَنصَاراٗۖ

And Nuh said, "My Guardian, spare not upon the earth, among the disowners, any dweller!

وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى اَ۬لْأَرْضِ مِنَ اَ۬لْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّاراًۖ

For if You spare them, they will mislead Your obedient ones and will not beget except depraved ones, great disowners.

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُواْ إِلَّا فَاجِراٗ كَفَّاراٗۖ

and do not increase the wrongdoers except in devastation."

وَلَا تَزِدِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَاراَۢۖ
