In the frieze Believers are persecuted for their faith alone; God witnesses it, and punishment awaits those who do not repent.
Read just before, 86 leads here: After "the sky which returns" (86:11), the next one also swears by the sky: "By the sky containing constellations!" (85:1). 86

Em nome de Deus, o Todo-Benevolente, o Benevolente. Pelo céu de constelações! E pelo Dia prometido! E pela testemunha e aquilo de que se testemunha! Pereçam os companheiros do fosso, do fogo ricamente alimentado, ao passo que estavam sentados em volta, e eram testemunhas do que faziam aos que creem.
بِسۡمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحۡمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ وَاَلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ اِ۬لۡبُرُوجِ وَاَلۡيَوۡمِ اِ۬لۡمَوۡعُودِ وَشَاهِدٖ وَمَشۡهُودٖ قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ اُ۬لۡأُخۡدُودِ اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ ذَاتِ اِ۬لۡوَقُودِ إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودٞ وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِالۡمُومِنِينَ شُهُودٞ
E só lhes guardavam rancor por crerem em Deus, o Todo-Poderoso, o Louvável, a Quem pertence a realeza dos céus e da terra.
وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّا أَن يُومِنُواْ بِاللَّهِ اِ۬لۡعَزِيزِ اِ۬لۡحَمِيدِ اِ۬لَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَاَلۡأَرۡضِۚ
E Deus é testemunha de toda coisa.
وَاَللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ
Os que puseram à prova os que creem e as que creem, depois não se arrependeram, terão certamente a pena de Jahannam e terão a pena do incêndio.
إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ اُ۬لۡمُومِنِينَ وَاَلۡمُومِنَٰت ثُّمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ اُ۬لۡحَرِيقِ
Os que creram e realizaram as obras sãs terão certamente jardins sob os quais correm os rios.
إِنَّ اَ۬لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا اَ۬لۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ
Eis o grande triunfo.
ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لۡفَوۡزُ اُ۬لۡكَبِيرُ
O aperto do teu Tutor é deveras severo.
۞ إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
É certamente Ele que começa e que refaz.
إِنَّه هُّوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
E Ele é o Muito-Indulgente, o Amoroso, o Detentor do Edifício,
وَهۡوَ اَ۬لۡغَفُورُ اُ۬لۡوَدُود ذُّو اُ۬لۡعَرۡشِ
o Glorioso, que faz sem cessar o que Ele quer.
اِ۬لۡمَجِيدُ فَعَّالٞ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
O discurso a respeito dos exércitos, de Fir'awn e dos Thamud, chegou a ti?
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ اُ۬لۡجُنُودِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ
Pelo contrário, os que renegaram obstinam-se no desmentido, e Deus os cerca por trás.
بَلِ اِ۬لَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبٖ وَاَللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ
Pelo contrário, é uma Leitura gloriosa, sobre uma Tábua preservada.
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانٞ مَّجِيدٞ فِي لَوۡحٖ مَّحۡفُوظِۢ
