In Which There Is Healing
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. The command of God has come: so do not seek to hasten it.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم اتي امر الله فلا تستعجلوهGlory be to Him, and He is far above what they associate with Him.
سبحنه وتعلي عما يشركونHe sends down the Agents with the Influx, by His command, upon whom He wills among His obedient ones: "Warn that there is no deity but Me; so guard yourselves before Me."
ينزل المليكه بالروح من امره علي من يشا من عباده ان انذروا انه لا اله الا انا فاتقونHe created the heavens and the earth with truth.
خلق السموت والارض بالحقHe is far above what they associate with Him.
تعلي عما يشركونHe created the human being from a drop, and behold, he is a declared quarreler.
خلق الانسن من نطفه فاذا هو خصيم مبينAnd the cattle, He created them:
والانعم خلقهاin them you find warmth and benefits, and from them you eat.
لكم فيها دف ومنفع ومنها تاكلونAnd in them you find a beauty, when you bring them back in the evening and when you lead them out to pasture.
ولكم فيها جمال حين تريحون وحين تسرحونAnd they carry your burdens to a land you would not have reached except with great hardship on yourselves:
وتحمل اثقالكم الي بلد لم تكونوا بلغيه الا بشق الانفسyour Guardian is surely full of kindness, Benevolent.
ان ربكم لروف رحيمAnd horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride, and as adornment.
والخيل والبغال والحمير لتركبوها وزينهAnd He creates what you do not know.
ويخلق ما لا تعلمونTo God belongs the tracing of the straight way; some of it veers off.
وعلي الله قصد السبيل ومنها جايرHad He willed, He would have guided you all.
ولو شا لهديكم اجمعينIt is He who sent down from the sky a water: from it you have a drink, and from it comes vegetation where you graze [your herds].
هو الذي انزل من السما ما لكم منه شراب ومنه شجر فيه تسيمونBy it, He causes to grow for you the crops, the olive, the palms, the vines, and every kind of fruit:
ينبت لكم به الزرع والزيتون والنخيل والاعنب ومن كل الثمرتthere is surely in that a sign for a people who reflect.
ان في ذلك لايه لقوم يتفكرونHe has subjected for you the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected by His command.
وسخر لكم اليل والنهار والشمس والقمر والنجوم مسخرت بامرهThere are surely in that signs for a people who reason.
ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يعقلونAnd what He has scattered for you on the earth, of varied colors:
وما ذرا لكم في الارض مختلفا الونهthere is surely in that a sign for a people who remember.
ان في ذلك لايه لقوم يذكرونIt is He who has subjected the sea, so that you may eat from it tender flesh and extract from it an ornament that you wear;
وهو الذي سخر البحر لتاكلوا منه لحما طريا وتستخرجوا منه حليه تلبسونهاand you see the vessel cleaving through it, so that you may seek His favor, and perhaps you will be grateful.
وتري الفلك مواخر فيه ولتبتغوا من فضله ولعلكم تشكرونAnd He cast upon the earth firmly-anchored mountains, so that it would not shake beneath you, and rivers and ways, so that you might be guided, and landmarks,
والقي في الارض روسي ان تميد بكم وانهرا وسبلا لعلكم تهتدون وعلمتand it is by the star that they find their way.
وبالنجم هم يهتدونIs He who creates then like one who creates nothing?
افمن يخلق كمن لا يخلقWill you not then remember?
افلا تذكرونIf you counted God's blessing, you could not enumerate it.
وان تعدوا نعمه الله لا تحصوهاGod is surely Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
ان الله لغفور رحيمGod knows what you keep secret and what you disclose.
والله يعلم ما تسرون وما تعلنونThose you invoke besides God create nothing; it is they who are created.
والذين يدعون من دون الله لا يخلقون شيا وهم يخلقونDead, without life,
اموت غير احياand they do not sense when they will be raised.
وما يشعرون ايان يبعثونYour deity is a single deity.
الهكم اله وحدThose who do not believe in the last life have a denying core, and they swell with pride.
فالذين لا يومنون بالاخره قلوبهم منكره وهم مستكبرونThere is no doubt that God knows what they keep secret and what they disclose:
لا جرم ان الله يعلم ما يسرون وما يعلنونHe does not love those who swell with pride.
انه لا يحب المستكبرينAnd when it is said to them: "What has your Guardian sent down?" they say: "Legends of the ancients" — so as to bear, on the Day of Appearance, their burdens in full, and a portion of the burdens of those they mislead without knowledge:
واذا قيل لهم ماذا انزل ربكم قالوا اسطير الاولين ليحملوا اوزارهم كامله يوم القيمه ومن اوزار الذين يضلونهم بغير علمhow evil is what they weigh themselves down with!
الا سا ما يزرونThose before them indeed plotted; but God seized their structure from the foundations, so that the roof collapsed upon them from above, and the punishment came to them from where they did not sense.
قد مكر الذين من قبلهم فاتي الله بنينهم من القواعد فخر عليهم السقف من فوقهم واتيهم العذاب من حيث لا يشعرونThen, on the Day of Appearance, He will cover them with disgrace and say: "Where are My associates, about whom you were in dissension?"
ثم يوم القيمه يخزيهم ويقول اين شركاي الذين كنتم تشقون فيهمThose to whom knowledge was given will say: "Disgrace, today, and misfortune, are upon those who disown" — those the Agents keep faithfully, wronging themselves.
قال الذين اوتوا العلم ان الخزي اليوم والسو علي الكفرين الذين تتوفيهم المليكه ظالمي انفسهمThey then offer their submission: "We were doing no evil!" — But yes, indeed!
فالقوا السلم ما كنا نعمل من سو بليGod is indeed All-Knowing of what you were doing.
ان الله عليم بما كنتم تعملونSo enter through the gates of Jahannam, to abide therein eternally:
فادخلوا ابوب جهنم خلدين فيهاwhat a detestable abode for the proud!
فلبيس مثوي المتكبرينAnd it is said to those who guarded themselves: "What has your Guardian sent down?" They say: "Something good."
وقيل للذين اتقوا ماذا انزل ربكم قالوا خيراFor those who do good, in the present life, there is good;
للذين احسنوا في هذه الدنيا حسنهbut the abode of the last life is better,
ولدار الاخره خيرand what an excellent abode is that of those who guard themselves!
ولنعم دار المتقينThe Gardens of permanent abode, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow; they will have therein what they desire.
جنت عدن يدخلونها تجري من تحتها الانهر لهم فيها ما يشاونThus God recompenses those who guard themselves, those the Agents keep faithfully in a state of purity,
كذلك يجزي الله المتقين الذين تتوفيهم المليكه طيبينsaying: "Peace be upon you! Enter the Garden, for what you used to do."
يقولون سلم عليكم ادخلوا الجنه بما كنتم تعملونDo they then wait only for the Agents to come to them, or for the command of your Guardian to come?
هل ينظرون الا ان تاتيهم المليكه او ياتي امر ربكThus did those before them act.
كذلك فعل الذين من قبلهمGod did not wrong them,
وما ظلمهم اللهbut they were unjust toward themselves.
ولكن كانوا انفسهم يظلمونThe evils of what they did overtook them,
فاصابهم سيات ما عملواand what they used to mock enveloped them.
وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزونThose who associated said: "Had God willed, we would not have obeyed anything besides Him, neither we nor our ancestors, nor would we have forbidden anything besides Him."
وقال الذين اشركوا لو شا الله ما عبدنا من دونه من شي نحن ولا اباونا ولا حرمنا من دونه من شيThus did those before them act.
كذلك فعل الذين من قبلهمIs anything then incumbent upon the messengers, except clear transmission?
فهل علي الرسل الا البلغ المبينWe have indeed raised up, in every community, a messenger: "Obey God and avoid the Tyrant,"
ولقد بعثنا في كل امه رسولا ان اعبدوا الله واجتنبوا الطغوتthere are among them those God has guided,
فمنهم من هدي اللهand there are those upon whom error has proven true.
ومنهم من حقت عليه الضللهSo travel the earth and look at what was the end of those who denied.
فسيروا في الارض فانظروا كيف كان عقبه المكذبينIf you are eager for their guidance, God does not guide him whom He lets go astray,
ان تحرص علي هديهم فان الله لا يهدي من يضلand they will have no helpers.
وما لهم من نصرينThey swore by God, with their most solemn oaths, that God will not raise up the one who dies.
واقسموا بالله جهد ايمنهم لا يبعث الله من يموتBut yes indeed! It is a promise incumbent upon Him, in truth — but most people do not know — so that He may make clear to them that on which they differ, and so that those who disown may know that they were liars.
بلي وعدا عليه حقا ولكن اكثر الناس لا يعلمون ليبين لهم الذي يختلفون فيه وليعلم الذين كفروا انهم كانوا كذبينOur only saying, for a thing, when We will it, is to say to it: "Be,"
انما قولنا لشي اذا اردنه ان نقول له كنand it is.
فيكونAnd those who emigrated for God, after having suffered injustice, We shall surely establish them in a fine position in the present life;
والذين هاجروا في الله من بعد ما ظلموا لنبوينهم في الدنيا حسنهand the reward of the last life is even greater, if they knew —
ولاجر الاخره اكبر لو كانوا يعلمونthose who were patient and who rely upon their Guardian.
الذين صبروا وعلي ربهم يتوكلونAnd We sent, before you, none but men to whom We revealed: so ask the keepers of the Reminder, if you do not know — with the clear proofs and the Formulary.
وما ارسلنا من قبلك الا رجالا نوحي اليهم فسلوا اهل الذكر ان كنتم لا تعلمون بالبينت والزبرAnd We have sent down to you the Reminder, so that you may make clear to the people what has been sent down to them, and perhaps they will reflect.
وانزلنا اليك الذكر لتبين للناس ما نزل اليهم ولعلهم يتفكرونAre those who plotted the evils then sure that God will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the punishment will not come to them from where they do not sense, or that He will not seize them in their comings and goings, without their being able to render [Him] powerless, or that He will not seize them in a gradual dread?
افامن الذين مكروا السيات ان يخسف الله بهم الارض او ياتيهم العذاب من حيث لا يشعرون او ياخذهم في تقلبهم فما هم بمعجزين او ياخذهم علي تخوفYour Guardian is surely full of kindness, Benevolent.
فان ربكم لروف رحيمHave they not seen that, of everything God has created, the shadows incline to the right and the left, prostrate before God, while they are abased?
اولم يروا الي ما خلق الله من شي يتفيوا ظلله عن اليمين والشمايل سجدا لله وهم دخرونAnd before God prostrates everything in the heavens and on the earth, among living beings, as well as the Agents, without swelling with pride: they fear their Guardian, above them, and do what they are commanded.
ولله يسجد ما في السموت وما في الارض من دابه والمليكه وهم لا يستكبرون يخافون ربهم من فوقهم ويفعلون ما يومرونAnd God said: "Do not take two deities.
وقال الله لا تتخذوا الهين اثنينHe is but a single deity;
انما هو اله وحدso it is Me you must revere."
فايي فارهبونTo Him belongs what is in the heavens and on the earth,
وله ما في السموت والارضand to Him the Law, permanently.
وله الدين واصباIs it then before other than God that you guard yourselves?
افغير الله تتقونEvery blessing that is in you comes from God;
وما بكم من نعمه فمن اللهthen, when harm touches you, it is to Him that you cry out in distress.
ثم اذا مسكم الضر فاليه تجرونThen, when He removes harm from you, behold, a group among you associates [others] with its Guardian, so as to disown what We have given them.
ثم اذا كشف الضر عنكم اذا فريق منكم بربهم يشركون ليكفروا بما اتينهمSo enjoy yourselves,
فتمتعواbut you will soon know.
فسوف تعلمونAnd they assign, to what they do not know, a share of what We have provided them.
ويجعلون لما لا يعلمون نصيبا مما رزقنهمBy God, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
تالله لتسلن عما كنتم تفترونAnd they assign to God daughters — Glory be to Him!
ويجعلون لله البنت سبحنهwhile for themselves is what they desire.
ولهم ما يشتهونAnd when one of them receives the news of a daughter, his face darkens, and he is filled with suppressed distress; he hides himself from the people, because of the ill news he was given:
واذا بشر احدهم بالانثي ظل وجهه مسودا وهو كظيم يتوري من القوم من سو ما بشر بهshall he keep her despite the degradation, or bury her in the ground?
ايمسكه علي هون ام يدسه في الترابHow detestable is what they decide!
الا سا ما يحكمونTo those who do not believe in the last life belongs the example of evil,
للذين لا يومنون بالاخره مثل السوand to God belongs the most exalted example:
ولله المثل الاعليHe is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو العزيز الحكيمIf God were to seize the people for their injustice, He would not leave upon it [the earth] a single living being;
ولو يواخذ الله الناس بظلمهم ما ترك عليها من دابهbut He defers them until an appointed term,
ولكن يوخرهم الي اجل مسميand when their term comes, they will not be able to delay it by an hour,
فاذا جا اجلهم لا يستخرون ساعهnor advance it.
ولا يستقدمونAnd they assign to God what they themselves detest,
ويجعلون لله ما يكرهونand their tongues describe the lie, claiming that to them belongs the best:
وتصف السنتهم الكذب ان لهم الحسنيthere is no doubt that to them belongs the Fire, and that they will be sent forth into it first.
لا جرم ان لهم النار وانهم مفرطونBy God, We indeed sent [messengers] to communities before you; but the Diverter made their actions appear pleasing to them, and he is their ally today:
تالله لقد ارسلنا الي امم من قبلك فزين لهم الشيطن اعملهم فهو وليهم اليومand they will have a painful punishment.
ولهم عذاب اليمAnd We have sent down to you the Scripture only so that you may make clear to them that on which they differ, and as guidance and benevolence for a people who believe.
وما انزلنا عليك الكتب الا لتبين لهم الذي اختلفوا فيه وهدي ورحمه لقوم يومنونAnd God sent down from the sky a water, by which He revived the earth after its death:
والله انزل من السما ما فاحيا به الارض بعد موتهاthere is surely in that a sign for a people who hear.
ان في ذلك لايه لقوم يسمعونAnd there is surely, for you, a lesson in the cattle:
وان لكم في الانعم لعبرهWe provide you drink from what is in their bellies, between chyme and blood, a pure milk, pleasant to drink for those who drink it; and from the fruits of palms and vines, you draw an intoxicating drink and an excellent provision.
نسقيكم مما في بطونه من بين فرث ودم لبنا خالصا سايغا للشربين ومن ثمرت النخيل والاعنب تتخذون منه سكرا ورزقا حسناThere is surely in that a sign for a people who reason.
ان في ذلك لايه لقوم يعقلونAnd your Guardian inspired the bee: "Take, among the mountains, houses, and in the trees and in what they build [the people]; then eat of all the fruits, and follow the ways of your Guardian, made docile."
واوحي ربك الي النحل ان اتخذي من الجبال بيوتا ومن الشجر ومما يعرشون ثم كلي من كل الثمرت فاسلكي سبل ربك ذللاFrom their bellies comes forth a drink of varied colors, in which there is healing for the people:
يخرج من بطونها شراب مختلف الونه فيه شفا للناسthere is surely in that a sign for a people who reflect.
ان في ذلك لايه لقوم يتفكرونGod created you, then He keeps you faithfully;
والله خلقكم ثم يتوفيكمand among you are those brought back to the most abject age, so as to know nothing more after having known.
ومنكم من يرد الي ارذل العمر لكي لا يعلم بعد علم شياGod is indeed All-Knowing, Able.
ان الله عليم قديرAnd God has favored some among you over others in provision:
والله فضل بعضكم علي بعض في الرزقthose who have been favored do not hand back their provision to those bound by pledge among them, so that they would be equal in it.
فما الذين فضلوا برادي رزقهم علي ما ملكت ايمنهم فهم فيه سواWould they then stubbornly reject the blessing of God?
افبنعمه الله يجحدونAnd God has given you, from yourselves, spouses, and given you, from your spouses, children and grandchildren,
والله جعل لكم من انفسكم ازوجا وجعل لكم من ازوجكم بنين وحفدهand He has provided you with good things.
ورزقكم من الطيبتWould they then believe in falsehood, and disown the blessing of God?
افبالبطل يومنون وبنعمت الله هم يكفرونAnd they obey, besides God, what holds for them, from the heavens and the earth, no provision at all, and has no power to do so.
ويعبدون من دون الله ما لا يملك لهم رزقا من السموت والارض شيا ولا يستطيعونSo do not multiply examples for God:
فلا تضربوا لله الامثالGod knows,
ان الله يعلمand you do not know.
وانتم لا تعلمونGod multiplies an example: a constrained one, having no power at all, and one whom We have provided, from Us, with a fine provision, from which he spends secretly and openly — would they be equal?
ضرب الله مثلا عبدا مملوكا لا يقدر علي شي ومن رزقنه منا رزقا حسنا فهو ينفق منه سرا وجهرا هل يستونPraise be to God!
الحمد للهBut most of them do not know.
بل اكثرهم لا يعلمونAnd God multiplies another example: two men, one of whom is mute, possessing no power at all, an entire burden upon his nearest guarantor; wherever he sends him, he brings back nothing good — is that one the equal of one who commands justice and stands upon a straight path?
وضرب الله مثلا رجلين احدهما ابكم لا يقدر علي شي وهو كل علي موليه اينما يوجهه لا يات بخير هل يستوي هو ومن يامر بالعدل وهو علي صرط مستقيمTo God belongs what escapes the senses in the heavens and on the earth.
ولله غيب السموت والارضThe matter of the Hour is only like the twinkling of an eye, or even swifter.
وما امر الساعه الا كلمح البصر او هو اقربGod is indeed capable of all things.
ان الله علي كل شي قديرAnd God brought you out of your mothers' bellies, knowing nothing,
والله اخرجكم من بطون امهتكم لا تعلمون شياand He gave you hearing, sight, and Consciences, perhaps you will be grateful.
وجعل لكم السمع والابصر والافده لعلكم تشكرونHave they not seen the birds, subjected in the space of the sky, held by nothing but God?
الم يروا الي الطير مسخرت في جو السما ما يمسكهن الا اللهThere are surely in that signs for a people who believe.
ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يومنونAnd God has given you, from your houses, a peaceful abode, and He has given you, from the hides of cattle, houses you find light on the day of your departure and the day of your settling,
والله جعل لكم من بيوتكم سكنا وجعل لكم من جلود الانعم بيوتا تستخفونها يوم ظعنكم ويوم اقامتكمand, from their wool, their fur, and their hair, furnishings and use for a time.
ومن اصوافها واوبارها واشعارها اثثا ومتعا الي حينAnd God has given you, from what He created, shades, and He has given you, from the mountains, shelters, and He has given you tunics that protect you from the heat, and tunics that protect you from your own violence:
والله جعل لكم مما خلق ظللا وجعل لكم من الجبال اكننا وجعل لكم سربيل تقيكم الحر وسربيل تقيكم باسكمthus He completes His blessing upon you, perhaps you will be true to Him alone.
كذلك يتم نعمته عليكم لعلكم تسلمونIf they turn away, only clear transmission is incumbent upon you.
فان تولوا فانما عليك البلغ المبينThey recognize the blessing of God, then disavow it,
يعرفون نعمت الله ثم ينكرونهاand most of them disown.
واكثرهم الكفرونAnd the Day We raise up, from every community, a witness, it will no longer be permitted to those who disown [to excuse themselves], nor will they be asked to make amends.
ويوم نبعث من كل امه شهيدا ثم لا يوذن للذين كفروا ولا هم يستعتبونAnd when those who were unjust see the punishment, it will neither be lightened for them, nor will they be granted a reprieve.
واذا را الذين ظلموا العذاب فلا يخفف عنهم ولا هم ينظرونAnd when those who associated see their associates, they will say: "Our Guardian, these are our associates whom we used to invoke besides You."
واذا را الذين اشركوا شركاهم قالوا ربنا هولا شركاونا الذين كنا ندعوا من دونكThese will then address these sayings to them: "You are surely liars."
فالقوا اليهم القول انكم لكذبونAnd they will offer to God, that Day, their submission,
والقوا الي الله يوميذ السلمand what they used to invent will stray away from them.
وضل عنهم ما كانوا يفترونThose who disown and who turned away from God's way — We shall add for them a punishment upon the punishment, for the corruption they spread.
الذين كفروا وصدوا عن سبيل الله زدنهم عذابا فوق العذاب بما كانوا يفسدونAnd the Day We raise up, in every community, a witness from among themselves, against it, and We bring you, as a witness against these,
ويوم نبعث في كل امه شهيدا عليهم من انفسهم وجينا بك شهيدا علي هولاAnd We have sent down to you the Scripture, making everything clear, and as guidance, benevolence, and glad tidings for those who are true to God alone.
ونزلنا عليك الكتب تبينا لكل شي وهدي ورحمه وبشري للمسلمينGod commands justice, beneficence, and giving to the close relative,
ان الله يامر بالعدل والاحسن وايتاي ذي القربيand He forbids indecency, the disavowed, and aggression:
وينهي عن الفحشا والمنكر والبغيHe exhorts you, perhaps you will remember.
يعظكم لعلكم تذكرونAnd be faithful to God's pact when you make a pact,
واوفوا بعهد الله اذا عهدتمand do not break oaths after affirming them, having taken God as a guarantor over you:
ولا تنقضوا الايمن بعد توكيدها وقد جعلتم الله عليكم كفيلاGod knows what you do.
ان الله يعلم ما تفعلونAnd do not be like her who unravels her thread, after having firmly spun it, reducing it to fibers; you take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, on the pretext that one community is more numerous than another:
ولا تكونوا كالتي نقضت غزلها من بعد قوه انكثا تتخذون ايمنكم دخلا بينكم ان تكون امه هي اربي من امهGod only thereby tests you,
انما يبلوكم الله بهand He will surely make clear to you, on the Day of Appearance, that on which you differed.
وليبينن لكم يوم القيمه ما كنتم فيه تختلفونHad God willed, He would have made you a single community;
ولو شا الله لجعلكم امه وحدهbut He lets go astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills,
ولكن يضل من يشا ويهدي من يشاand you will surely be questioned about what you did.
ولتسلن عما كنتم تعملونAnd do not take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, or a foot would slip after having been firm, and you would taste evil for having turned away from God's way; and you would have an immense punishment.
ولا تتخذوا ايمنكم دخلا بينكم فتزل قدم بعد ثبوتها وتذوقوا السو بما صددتم عن سبيل الله ولكم عذاب عظيمAnd do not sell God's pact for a small price:
ولا تشتروا بعهد الله ثمنا قليلاwhat is with God is better for you, if you knew.
انما عند الله هو خير لكم ان كنتم تعلمونWhat is with you is exhausted,
ما عندكم ينفدand what is with God endures.
وما عند الله باقAnd We shall surely reward those who were patient according to the best of their deeds.
ولنجزين الذين صبروا اجرهم باحسن ما كانوا يعملونWhoever does what is right, male or female, while being a believer, We shall surely make him live a good life, and We shall surely reward them according to the best of their deeds.
من عمل صلحا من ذكر او انثي وهو مومن فلنحيينه حيوه طيبه ولنجزينهم اجرهم باحسن ما كانوا يعملونWhen you recite the Recitation, seek refuge with God from the banished Diverter.
فاذا قرات القران فاستعذ بالله من الشيطن الرجيمHe has no authority over those who believe and who rely upon their Guardian.
انه ليس له سلطن علي الذين امنوا وعلي ربهم يتوكلونHis authority is exercised only over those who take him as ally, and over those who make him an associate.
انما سلطنه علي الذين يتولونه والذين هم به مشركونAnd when We substitute one sign for another sign — God knows best what He sends down — they say: "You are but an inventor."
واذا بدلنا ايه مكان ايه والله اعلم بما ينزل قالوا انما انت مفترBut most of them do not know.
بل اكثرهم لا يعلمونSay: "The Influx of holiness has brought it down, from your Guardian, with truth, so as to make firm those who believe, and as guidance and glad tidings for those who are true to God alone."
قل نزله روح القدس من ربك بالحق ليثبت الذين امنوا وهدي وبشري للمسلمينWe indeed know that they say: "It is only a human who teaches it to him."
ولقد نعلم انهم يقولون انما يعلمه بشرYet the tongue of the one to whom they allude is confused, whereas this tongue is flawless, clear.
لسان الذي يلحدون اليه اعجمي وهذا لسان عربي مبينThose who do not believe in God's signs, God does not guide them,
ان الذين لا يومنون بايت الله لا يهديهم اللهand they will have a painful punishment.
ولهم عذاب اليمThose who invent falsehood are those who do not believe in God's signs,
انما يفتري الكذب الذين لا يومنون بايت اللهand they are the liars.
واوليك هم الكذبونWhoever disowns God after having believed — except one who is coerced, while his core remains at peace in faith —
من كفر بالله من بعد ايمنه الا من اكره وقلبه مطمين بالايمنbut whoever opens his chest to disowning, upon them falls an anger from God,
ولكن من شرح بالكفر صدرا فعليهم غضب من اللهand they will have an immense punishment.
ولهم عذاب عظيمThat, because they preferred the present life to the last life, and because God does not guide the people who disown.
ذلك بانهم استحبوا الحيوه الدنيا علي الاخره وان الله لا يهدي القوم الكفرينThose are the ones on whose core, hearing, and sight God has set a seal,
اوليك الذين طبع الله علي قلوبهم وسمعهم وابصرهمand those are the heedless.
واوليك هم الغفلونThere is no doubt that, in the last life, they are the losers.
لا جرم انهم في الاخره هم الخسرونThen, your Guardian, toward those who emigrated after having been tried, then strove and were patient — your Guardian, after that, is indeed Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
ثم ان ربك للذين هاجروا من بعد ما فتنوا ثم جهدوا وصبروا ان ربك من بعدها لغفور رحيمThe Day every Self will come pleading for itself, and every Self will be faithfully repaid for what it did, without being wronged.
يوم تاتي كل نفس تجدل عن نفسها وتوفي كل نفس ما عملت وهم لا يظلمونAnd God proposes an example: a city that was secure, at peace, to which its provision came abundantly from everywhere; then it disowned God's blessings, and God made it taste the garment of hunger and fear, for what they were fabricating.
وضرب الله مثلا قريه كانت امنه مطمينه ياتيها رزقها رغدا من كل مكان فكفرت بانعم الله فاذقها الله لباس الجوع والخوف بما كانوا يصنعونA messenger, from among them, had indeed come to them, but they denied him; the punishment then seized them, while they were wrongdoers.
ولقد جاهم رسول منهم فكذبوه فاخذهم العذاب وهم ظلمونSo eat of what God has provided you, lawful and good,
فكلوا مما رزقكم الله حللا طيباand be grateful for God's blessing, if it is Him you obey.
واشكروا نعمت الله ان كنتم اياه تعبدونHe has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been consecrated to other than God.
انما حرم عليكم الميته والدم ولحم الخنزير وما اهل لغير الله بهBut whoever is compelled, without rebellion or crossing the limits, God is then Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
فمن اضطر غير باغ ولا عاد فان الله غفور رحيمAnd do not say, for what your tongues falsely describe: "This is lawful and this is forbidden," so as to invent falsehood against God:
ولا تقولوا لما تصف السنتكم الكذب هذا حلل وهذا حرام لتفتروا علي الله الكذبthose who invent falsehood against God will not succeed.
ان الذين يفترون علي الله الكذب لا يفلحونAn enjoyment of little worth,
متع قليلand they will have a painful punishment.
ولهم عذاب اليمAnd to the Reoriented, We forbade what We have already set out to you;
وعلي الذين هادوا حرمنا ما قصصنا عليك من قبلWe did not wrong them,
وما ظلمنهمbut they were unjust toward themselves.
ولكن كانوا انفسهم يظلمونThen, your Guardian, toward those who did evil out of ignorance, then repented after that and reformed — your Guardian, after that, is indeed Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
ثم ان ربك للذين عملوا السو بجهله ثم تابوا من بعد ذلك واصلحوا ان ربك من بعدها لغفور رحيمIbrahim was indeed a community unto himself, devoted to God, wholly turned toward Him, and he was not among those who associate,
ان ابرهيم كان امه قانتا لله حنيفا ولم يك من المشركينgrateful for His blessings.
شاكرا لانعمهHe elected him and guided him to a straight path.
اجتبيه وهديه الي صرط مستقيمAnd We gave him, in the present life, good;
واتينه في الدنيا حسنهand in the last life, he will surely be among the righteous.
وانه في الاخره لمن الصلحينThen We revealed to you: "Follow the doctrine of Ibrahim, wholly turned toward God,"
ثم اوحينا اليك ان اتبع مله ابرهيم حنيفاand he was not among those who associate.
وما كان من المشركينThe sabt [the act of rest/inaction] was instituted only for those who differed about it:
انما جعل السبت علي الذين اختلفوا فيهyour Guardian will surely judge between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning that in which they differed.
وان ربك ليحكم بينهم يوم القيمه فيما كانوا فيه يختلفونCall to the way of your Guardian with wisdom and fine admonition, and argue with them in the finest manner.
ادع الي سبيل ربك بالحكمه والموعظه الحسنه وجدلهم بالتي هي احسنYour Guardian indeed knows best who has strayed from His way,
ان ربك هو اعلم بمن ضل عن سبيلهand He knows best those who let themselves be guided.
وهو اعلم بالمهتدينAnd if you pay back in kind, pay back to the exact measure of what was done to you;
وان عاقبتم فعاقبوا بمثل ما عوقبتم بهbut if you are patient, that is indeed better for those who are patient.
ولين صبرتم لهو خير للصبرينAnd be patient —
واصبرyet your patience rests only in God.
وما صبرك الا باللهAnd do not grieve over them, and do not be constrained because of what they plot.
ولا تحزن عليهم ولا تك في ضيق مما يمكرونGod is indeed with those who guard themselves and those who do good.
ان الله مع الذين اتقوا والذين هم محسنون
