Al-Qamar

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split.

اقتربت الساعه وانشق القمر

And if they see a sign, they turn away and say: "A persistent illusion."

وان يروا ايه يعرضوا ويقولوا سحر مستمر

Yet every matter finds its stable place.

وكل امر مستقر

There had indeed come to them, among the pieces of information, that which should deter,

ولقد جاهم من الانبا ما فيه مزدجر

but of what avail are warnings?

فما تغن النذر

So turn your back on them.

فتول عنهم

those who disown will say: "This is a difficult day."

يقول الكفرون هذا يوم عسر

Before them, the people of Nuh denied: they denied Our obedient one and said, "He is deranged," and he was harshly chided.

كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح فكذبوا عبدنا وقالوا مجنون وازدجر

So he called upon his Guardian: "I am overcome, so grant help."

فدعا ربه اني مغلوب فانتصر

So We opened the gates of heaven with pouring water,

ففتحنا ابوب السما بما منهمر

and made the earth gush forth in springs, so the waters met according to a matter already decreed.

وفجرنا الارض عيونا فالتقي الما علي امر قد قدر

And We carried him upon a vessel made of planks and joining nails.

وحملنه علي ذات الوح ودسر

It sailed under Our eyes, a recompense for the one who had been disowned.

تجري باعيننا جزا لمن كان كفر

We have indeed left it as a sign: is there then anyone to remember?

ولقد تركنها ايه فهل من مدكر

So how were My punishment and My warnings?

فكيف كان عذابي ونذر

We have indeed made the Recitation easy for remembrance: is there then anyone to remember?

ولقد يسرنا القران للذكر فهل من مدكر

The Aad denied. So how were My punishment and My warnings?

كذبت عاد فكيف كان عذابي ونذر

We sent upon them an icy wind, on a day of persistent misfortune, tearing men away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees.

انا ارسلنا عليهم ريحا صرصرا في يوم نحس مستمر تنزع الناس كانهم اعجاز نخل منقعر

So how were My punishment and My warnings?

فكيف كان عذابي ونذر

We have indeed made the Recitation easy for remembrance: is there then anyone to remember?

ولقد يسرنا القران للذكر فهل من مدكر

The Thamud denied the warnings.

كذبت ثمود بالنذر

They said: "Shall we follow a single human from among us? We would then surely be in error and madness. Has the Reminder been cast upon him, out of all of us? Rather, he is a boastful liar."

فقالوا ابشرا منا وحدا نتبعه انا اذا لفي ضلل وسعر القي الذكر عليه من بيننا بل هو كذاب اشر

They will know tomorrow who is the boastful liar.

سيعلمون غدا من الكذاب الاشر

We are sending the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be constant.

انا مرسلوا الناقه فتنه لهم فارتقبهم واصطبر

each turn to drink is attended.

كل شرب محتضر

So they called their companion, and he seized her and hamstrung her.

فنادوا صاحبهم فتعاطي فعقر

So how were My punishment and My warnings?

فكيف كان عذابي ونذر

We sent upon them a single cry, and they became like the chaff of one who fences in.

انا ارسلنا عليهم صيحه وحده فكانوا كهشيم المحتظر

We have indeed made the Recitation easy for remembrance: is there then anyone to remember?

ولقد يسرنا القران للذكر فهل من مدكر

The people of Lut denied the warnings.

كذبت قوم لوط بالنذر

We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the clan of Lut, whom We saved in the last hours of the night,

انا ارسلنا عليهم حاصبا الا ال لوط نجينهم بسحر

Thus do We recompense whoever is grateful.

كذلك نجزي من شكر

He had indeed warned them of Our Strike, but they contended about the warnings.

ولقد انذرهم بطشتنا فتماروا بالنذر

They indeed sought to turn him away from his guests, so We obliterated their eyes: "Taste, then, My punishment and My warnings."

ولقد رودوه عن ضيفه فطمسنا اعينهم فذوقوا عذابي ونذر

A stable punishment indeed overtook them at early morning,

ولقد صبحهم بكره عذاب مستقر

"Taste, then, My punishment and My warnings."

فذوقوا عذابي ونذر

ولقد يسرنا القران للذكر فهل من مدكر

The warnings had indeed come to Fir'awn's clan.

ولقد جا ال فرعون النذر

They denied all Our signs, so We seized them with the seizing of an All-Powerful, Capable One.

كذبوا بايتنا كلها فاخذنهم اخذ عزيز مقتدر

Are those of you who disown better than those, or do you have a quittance in the Formularies?

اكفاركم خير من اوليكم ام لكم براه في الزبر

Or do they say: "We are a united force, able to help itself"?

ام يقولون نحن جميع منتصر

The force will be defeated, and they will turn their backs.

سيهزم الجمع ويولون الدبر

and the Hour is more terrible and more bitter.

والساعه ادهي وامر

The severed are indeed in error and madness, the Day they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces: "Taste the touch of Saqar."

ان المجرمين في ضلل وسعر يوم يسحبون في النار علي وجوههم ذوقوا مس سقر

We have created every thing according to a measure.

انا كل شي خلقنه بقدر

And Our command is but one, like the blink of an eye.

وما امرنا الا وحده كلمح بالبصر

We have indeed annihilated those of your sort: is there then anyone to remember?

ولقد اهلكنا اشياعكم فهل من مدكر

And everything they did is in the Formularies.

وكل شي فعلوه في الزبر

And everything, small or great, is inscribed.

وكل صغير وكبير مستطر

Those who guard themselves are indeed in gardens and by a river, in a sitting-place of veracity, near a Sovereign, Capable.

ان المتقين في جنت ونهر في مقعد صدق عند مليك مقتدر
