A Good Word
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Alif. Lam. Ra.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الرA Scripture that We have sent down to you, so that you may bring the people out of the darknesses into the light, with the permission of their Guardian, to the path of the All-Powerful, the Praiseworthy.
كتب انزلنه اليك لتخرج الناس من الظلمت الي النور باذن ربهم الي صرط العزيز الحميدGod, to whom belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth.
الله الذي له ما في السموت وما في الارضAnd woe to those who disown, from a severe punishment —
وويل للكفرين من عذاب شديدthose who prefer the present life to the last life, who turn [others] away from God's way and seek to make it crooked: those are the ones in deep error.
الذين يستحبون الحيوه الدنيا علي الاخره ويصدون عن سبيل الله ويبغونها عوجا اوليك في ضلل بعيدWe have sent no messenger except in the language of his people, so that he might make [the message] clear to them;
وما ارسلنا من رسول الا بلسان قومه ليبين لهمGod then lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills:
فيضل الله من يشا ويهدي من يشاHe is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو العزيز الحكيمWe have indeed sent Moussa with Our signs: "Bring your people out of the darknesses into the light, and remind them of the days of God."
ولقد ارسلنا موسي بايتنا ان اخرج قومك من الظلمت الي النور وذكرهم باييم اللهThere are surely in that signs for every very patient, very grateful one.
ان في ذلك لايت لكل صبار شكورAnd [recall] when Moussa said to his people: "Remember God's blessing upon you, when He saved you from the people of Fir'awn, who inflicted upon you the worst punishment, slaughtering your sons and violating the modesty of your women:
واذ قال موسي لقومه اذكروا نعمه الله عليكم اذ انجيكم من ال فرعون يسومونكم سو العذاب ويذبحون ابناكم ويستحيون نساكمand there was in that, from your Guardian, an immense testing."
وفي ذلكم بلا من ربكم عظيمAnd [recall] when your Guardian made known: "If you are grateful, I shall surely increase you; but if you disown, My punishment is indeed severe."
واذ تاذن ربكم لين شكرتم لازيدنكم ولين كفرتم ان عذابي لشديدAnd Moussa said: "If you disown, you and all who are on the earth, God is self-sufficient, He is praiseworthy."
وقال موسي ان تكفروا انتم ومن في الارض جميعا فان الله لغني حميدHas there not reached you the information concerning those before you, the people of Nuh, of the Recidivists [Aad] and the Depleters [Thamud], and those who came after them,
الم ياتكم نبوا الذين من قبلكم قوم نوح وعاد وثمود والذين من بعدهمwhom only God knows?
لا يعلمهم الا اللهTheir messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they put their hands to their mouths and said: "We disown that with which you have been sent, and we are indeed in a troubling doubt about what you call us to."
جاتهم رسلهم بالبينت فردوا ايديهم في افوههم وقالوا انا كفرنا بما ارسلتم به وانا لفي شك مما تدعوننا اليه مريبTheir messengers said: "Is there doubt about God, the Originator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you so as to forgive you some of your offenses and grant you a delay until an appointed term."
قالت رسلهم افي الله شك فاطر السموت والارض يدعوكم ليغفر لكم من ذنوبكم ويوخركم الي اجل مسميThey said: "You are only humans like us; you want to turn us away from what our ancestors obeyed. So bring us a manifest authority."
قالوا ان انتم الا بشر مثلنا تريدون ان تصدونا عما كان يعبد اباونا فاتونا بسلطن مبينTheir messengers said to them: "We are only humans like you, but God bestows grace upon whom He wills among His obedient ones.
قالت لهم رسلهم ان نحن الا بشر مثلكم ولكن الله يمن علي من يشا من عبادهIt is not for us to bring you an authority, except with God's permission.
وما كان لنا ان ناتيكم بسلطن الا باذن اللهSo let the believers rely upon God."
وعلي الله فليتوكل المومنونAnd why should we not rely upon God, when He has guided us on our ways?
وما لنا الا نتوكل علي الله وقد هدينا سبلناWe shall surely be patient in the face of the trouble you cause us;
ولنصبرن علي ما اذيتموناso let those who rely [upon God] rely upon God."
وعلي الله فليتوكل المتوكلونAnd those who disown said to their messengers: "We shall surely expel you from our land, or you will return to our doctrine!"
وقال الذين كفروا لرسلهم لنخرجنكم من ارضنا او لتعودن في ملتناTheir Guardian then revealed to them: "We shall surely annihilate the wrongdoers, and We shall surely establish you on this land after them.
فاوحي اليهم ربهم لنهلكن الظلمين ولنسكننكم الارض من بعدهمThat is for whoever fears My position, and fears My threat."
ذلك لمن خاف مقامي وخاف وعيدAnd they [all] sought the opening,
واستفتحواand every stubborn tyrant was disappointed; behind him, Jahannam, and he will be given to drink there a purulent water, which he will gulp down without almost being able to swallow it; death will come to him from every side without his dying; and behind that, a harsh punishment.
وخاب كل جبار عنيد من ورايه جهنم ويسقي من ما صديد يتجرعه ولا يكاد يسيغه وياتيه الموت من كل مكان وما هو بميت ومن ورايه عذاب غليظThe example of those who disown their Guardian:
مثل الذين كفروا بربهمtheir deeds are like ashes that the wind whips violently, on a stormy day: they can hold on to nothing of what they earned.
اعملهم كرماد اشتدت به الريح في يوم عاصف لا يقدرون مما كسبوا علي شيThat is the deep error.
ذلك هو الضلل البعيدHave you not seen that God created the heavens and the earth with truth?
الم تر ان الله خلق السموت والارض بالحقIf He willed, He would make you disappear and bring a new creation,
ان يشا يذهبكم ويات بخلق جديدand that is not at all difficult for God.
وما ذلك علي الله بعزيزAnd they will all appear before God, and the weak will say to those who swelled with pride: "We were your followers; can you then be of any use to us, against God's punishment?"
وبرزوا لله جميعا فقال الضعفوا للذين استكبروا انا كنا لكم تبعا فهل انتم مغنون عنا من عذاب الله من شيThey will say: "Had God guided us, we would certainly have guided you.
قالوا لو هدينا الله لهدينكمIt is the same for us, whether we are impatient or patient: we have no escape."
سوا علينا اجزعنا ام صبرنا ما لنا من محيصAnd the Diverter will say, when the matter is decided: "God made you a true promise, and I made you a promise, but I failed you; I had no authority over you, except to call you, and you answered me. So do not blame me, but blame yourselves: I cannot answer your cry, nor can you answer mine. I disown that you associated me with God before."
وقال الشيطن لما قضي الامر ان الله وعدكم وعد الحق ووعدتكم فاخلفتكم وما كان لي عليكم من سلطن الا ان دعوتكم فاستجبتم لي فلا تلوموني ولوموا انفسكم ما انا بمصرخكم وما انتم بمصرخي اني كفرت بما اشركتمون من قبلThe wrongdoers will indeed have a painful punishment.
ان الظلمين لهم عذاب اليمAnd those who have believed and done righteous deeds will be admitted into gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally, with the permission of their Guardian.
وادخل الذين امنوا وعملوا الصلحت جنت تجري من تحتها الانهر خلدين فيها باذن ربهمTheir greeting, there, will be: "Peace!"
تحيتهم فيها سلمHave you not seen how God multiplies an example? A good word is like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in the sky, giving its fare at every moment, with the permission of its Guardian.
الم تر كيف ضرب الله مثلا كلمه طيبه كشجره طيبه اصلها ثابت وفرعها في السما توتي اكلها كل حين باذن ربهاAnd God multiplies the examples for the people, perhaps they will remember.
ويضرب الله الامثال للناس لعلهم يتذكرونAnd the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, having no stability.
ومثل كلمه خبيثه كشجره خبيثه اجتثت من فوق الارض ما لها من قرارGod makes firm those who believe by the firm saying, in the present life and in the last life,
يثبت الله الذين امنوا بالقول الثابت في الحيوه الدنيا وفي الاخرهand God lets the wrongdoers go astray,
ويضل الله الظلمينand God does what He wills.
ويفعل الله ما يشاHave you not seen those who exchanged God's blessing for disowning, and settled their people in the abode of ruin — Jahannam, wherein they will burn:
الم تر الي الذين بدلوا نعمت الله كفرا واحلوا قومهم دار البوار جهنم يصلونهاwhat a detestable resting-place!
وبيس القرارAnd they assigned rivals to God, so as to mislead from His way:
وجعلوا لله اندادا ليضلوا عن سبيلهSay: "Enjoy yourselves, for your destination is the Fire."
قل تمتعوا فان مصيركم الي النارTell My obedient ones who believe to maintain the Contact and to spend from what We have provided them, secretly and openly, before a day comes wherein there will be neither selling nor friendship.
قل لعبادي الذين امنوا يقيموا الصلوه وينفقوا مما رزقنهم سرا وعلانيه من قبل ان ياتي يوم لا بيع فيه ولا خللGod is the One who created the heavens and the earth, and who sent down from the sky a water, by which He brought forth fruits as provision for you, and He subjected for you the vessel, so that it might sail upon the sea by His command,
الله الذي خلق السموت والارض وانزل من السما ما فاخرج به من الثمرت رزقا لكم وسخر لكم الفلك لتجري في البحر بامرهand He subjected for you the rivers.
وسخر لكم الانهرAnd He subjected for you the sun and the moon, constant in their course,
وسخر لكم الشمس والقمر دايبينand He subjected for you the night and the day.
وسخر لكم اليل والنهارAnd He gave you of everything you asked of Him;
واتيكم من كل ما سالتموهand if you counted God's blessing, you could not enumerate it.
وان تعدوا نعمت الله لا تحصوهاThe human being is surely quite unjust, a great disowner.
ان الانسن لظلوم كفارAnd [recall] when Ibrahim said: "My Guardian, make this land a secure place, and keep me and my sons away from obeying idols.
واذ قال ابرهيم رب اجعل هذا البلد امنا واجنبني وبني ان نعبد الاصنامMy Guardian, they have led astray a great number of people. Whoever follows me is then of mine, and whoever disobeys me — You are then Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
رب انهن اضللن كثيرا من الناس فمن تبعني فانه مني ومن عصاني فانك غفور رحيمOur Guardian, I have settled part of my descendants in a valley without cultivation, near Your Forbidden House,
ربنا اني اسكنت من ذريتي بواد غير ذي زرع عند بيتك المحرمOur Guardian, so that they may maintain the Contact; so make Consciences, among the people, incline toward them, and provide them with fruits, perhaps they will be grateful.
ربنا ليقيموا الصلوه فاجعل افده من الناس تهوي اليهم وارزقهم من الثمرت لعلهم يشكرونOur Guardian, You indeed know what we keep hidden and what we disclose;
ربنا انك تعلم ما نخفي وما نعلنand nothing escapes God, neither on earth nor in the sky.
وما يخفي علي الله من شي في الارض ولا في السماPraise be to God, who has granted me, despite old age, Ismail and Ishaq!
الحمد لله الذي وهب لي علي الكبر اسمعيل واسحقMy Guardian surely hears the call.
ان ربي لسميع الدعاMy Guardian, make me one who maintains the Contact, and of my descendants too;
رب اجعلني مقيم الصلوه ومن ذريتيour Guardian, and accept my call.
ربنا وتقبل دعاOur Guardian, forgive me, and my two parents, and the believers, on the day the Reckoning stands up."
ربنا اغفر لي ولولدي وللمومنين يوم يقوم الحسابAnd do not ever think that God is heedless of what the wrongdoers do:
ولا تحسبن الله غفلا عما يعمل الظلمونHe only defers them until a day when the gazes will be fixed, [people] rushing forward, heads lifted, their gaze never returning to them, and their Consciences will be void.
انما يوخرهم ليوم تشخص فيه الابصر مهطعين مقنعي روسهم لا يرتد اليهم طرفهم وافدتهم هواAnd warn the people of the day the punishment will come to them, and those who were unjust will say: "Our Guardian, grant us a delay until a near term: we will answer Your call and follow the messengers."
وانذر الناس يوم ياتيهم العذاب فيقول الذين ظلموا ربنا اخرنا الي اجل قريب نجب دعوتك ونتبع الرسل"Had you not sworn, before, that you would know no decline?
اولم تكونوا اقسمتم من قبل ما لكم من زوالAnd you dwelt in the abodes of those who were unjust to themselves, and it became clear to you how We dealt with them, and We multiplied the examples for you."
وسكنتم في مسكن الذين ظلموا انفسهم وتبين لكم كيف فعلنا بهم وضربنا لكم الامثالThey indeed plotted their plot,
وقد مكروا مكرهمbut their plot is [known] with God,
وعند الله مكرهمeven if their plot were of a kind to make the mountains vanish.
وان كان مكرهم لتزول منه الجبالSo do not ever think that God fails His promise to His messengers:
فلا تحسبن الله مخلف وعده رسلهGod is indeed All-Powerful, possessor of vengeance.
ان الله عزيز ذو انتقامThe Day the earth will be changed into another earth, and the heavens too,
يوم تبدل الارض غير الارض والسموتand they will appear before God, the One, the Subjugator.
وبرزوا لله الوحد القهارAnd you will see the severed, that Day, bound together in chains, their tunics of tar, and the Fire covering their faces, so that God may recompense every Self according to what it earned:
وتري المجرمين يوميذ مقرنين في الاصفاد سرابيلهم من قطران وتغشي وجوههم النار ليجزي الله كل نفس ما كسبتGod is indeed swift in reckoning.
ان الله سريع الحسابThis is a transmission for the people, so that they may be warned by it, know that He is but a single deity, and that the possessors of intelligence may remember.
هذا بلغ للناس ولينذروا به وليعلموا انما هو اله وحد وليذكر اولوا الالبب
