Sourate Ar-Rum (30) original (rasm)

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Alif, Lam, Mim.i 1

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الم

The Romans were victorious, in the nearest land; but after their victory, they will be defeated, within a few years —i 4

غلبت الروم في ادني الارض وهم من بعد غلبهم سيغلبون في بضع سنين

to God belongs the command, before and after. 4

لله الامر من قبل ومن بعد

And on that day the believers will rejoice in God's help — 5

ويوميذ يفرح المومنون بنصر الله

He helps whom He wills; 5

ينصر من يشا

and He is the All-Powerful, the Benevolent. 5

وهو العزيز الرحيم

[It is] God's promise: God does not fail His promise, 6

وعد الله لا يخلف الله وعده

but most people do not know. 6

ولكن اكثر الناس لا يعلمون

They know only an outward aspect of the present life, while of the Hereafter they are heedless. 7

يعلمون ظهرا من الحيوه الدنيا وهم عن الاخره هم غفلون

Have they not reflected within themselves? 8

اولم يتفكروا في انفسهم

God did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, except in truth and for an appointed term; 8

ما خلق الله السموت والارض وما بينهما الا بالحق واجل مسمي

and indeed many people deny the meeting with their Guardian.i 8

وان كثيرا من الناس بلقاي ربهم لكفرون

Have they not traveled through the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than them, and they tilled the earth 9

اولم يسيروا في الارض فينظروا كيف كان عقبه الذين من قبلهم كانوا اشد منهم قوه واثاروا الارض

and inhabited it more than they have inhabited it; and their messengers came to them with clear proofs, 9

وعمروها اكثر مما عمروها وجاتهم رسلهم بالبينت

and it was not God who wronged them, 9

فما كان الله ليظلمهم

but they used to wrong themselves. 9

ولكن كانوا انفسهم يظلمون

Then the end of those who did evil was the worst, for they denied the signs of God and used to mock them. 10

ثم كان عقبه الذين اسوا السواي ان كذبوا بايت الله وكانوا بها يستهزون

God originates the creation, then remakes it, then to Him you will be returned. 11

الله يبدوا الخلق ثم يعيده ثم اليه ترجعون

And on the day the Hour rises, the severed will be plunged into despair, and they will have, among their associates, no intercessors; and even their own associates, they will disown.i 13

ويوم تقوم الساعه يبلس المجرمون ولم يكن لهم من شركايهم شفعوا وكانوا بشركايهم كفرين

And on the day the Hour rises, that day they will be separated [into groups]: 14

ويوم تقوم الساعه يوميذ يتفرقون

as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, they will be delighted in a garden; 15

فاما الذين امنوا وعملوا الصلحت فهم في روضه يحبرون

and as for those who denied and denied Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter, those will be brought forward into the punishment. 16

واما الذين كفروا وكذبوا بايتنا ولقاي الاخره فاوليك في العذاب محضرون

So glory be to God when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning! 17

فسبحن الله حين تمسون وحين تصبحون

And to Him is praise in the heavens and the earth, and at the day's decline, and when you enter midday. 18

وله الحمد في السموت والارض وعشيا وحين تظهرون

He brings the living out of the dead, and brings the dead out of the living, and gives life to the earth after its death; 19

يخرج الحي من الميت ويخرج الميت من الحي ويحي الارض بعد موتها

and thus will you be brought forth [from your graves]. 19

وكذلك تخرجون

And among His signs is that He created you from dust; then, behold, you are human beings spreading out. 20

ومن ايته ان خلقكم من تراب ثم اذا انتم بشر تنتشرون

And among His signs is that He created for you, from yourselves, spouses, so that you might find rest in them, and He placed between you affection and benevolence; 21

ومن ايته ان خلق لكم من انفسكم ازوجا لتسكنوا اليها وجعل بينكم موده ورحمه

there are certainly in that signs for a people who reflect. 21

ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يتفكرون

And among His signs are the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your tongues and your colors; 22

ومن ايته خلق السموت والارض واختلف السنتكم والونكم

there are certainly in that signs for those who know. 22

ان في ذلك لايت للعلمين

And among His signs are your sleep by night and by day, and your seeking of His favor; 23

ومن ايته منامكم باليل والنهار وابتغاوكم من فضله

there are certainly in that signs for a people who listen. 23

ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يسمعون

And among His signs is that He shows you the lightning, arousing fear and hope, and sends down water from the sky by which He gives life to the earth after its death; 24

ومن ايته يريكم البرق خوفا وطمعا وينزل من السما ما فيحي به الارض بعد موتها

there are certainly in that signs for a people who reason. 24

ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يعقلون

And among His signs is that the sky and the earth stand by His command; 25

ومن ايته ان تقوم السما والارض بامره

then, when He calls you with a single call from the earth, behold, you will come forth. 25

ثم اذا دعاكم دعوه من الارض اذا انتم تخرجون

And to Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth; 26

وله من في السموت والارض

all are devoted to Him. 26

كل له قنتون

And it is He who originates the creation, then remakes it — a matter yet easier for Him; 27

وهو الذي يبدوا الخلق ثم يعيده وهو اهون عليه

and to Him belongs the highest description, in the heavens and the earth; 27

وله المثل الاعلي في السموت والارض

and He is the All-Powerful, the Wise. 27

وهو العزيز الحكيم

He proposes to you an example drawn from yourselves: do you have, among those bound to you by pledge, any partners in what We have provided you as sustenance, such that you would be equal in that, fearing them as you fear one another?i 28

ضرب لكم مثلا من انفسكم هل لكم من ما ملكت ايمنكم من شركا في ما رزقنكم فانتم فيه سوا تخافونهم كخيفتكم انفسكم

Thus do We detail the signs for a people who reason. 28

كذلك نفصل الايت لقوم يعقلون

Those who did wrong rather followed their emotions, without knowledge. 29

بل اتبع الذين ظلموا اهواهم بغير علم

So who will guide the one God has left astray? 29

فمن يهدي من اضل الله

And they will have no helpers. 29

وما لهم من نصرين

Set your direction toward the Law, wholly turned toward God — the original nature God gave mankind, as He created them. There is no changing God's creation: that is the upright Law, but most people do not know — turning toward Him, guard yourselves toward Him, maintain the Contact, and do not be among those who associate partners with God,i 32

فاقم وجهك للدين حنيفا فطرت الله التي فطر الناس عليها لا تبديل لخلق الله ذلك الدين القيم ولكن اكثر الناس لا يعلمون منيبين اليه واتقوه واقيموا الصلوه ولا تكونوا من المشركين من الذين فرقوا دينهم وكانوا شيعا

among those who split up their Law and became factions, each party rejoicing in what it has. 32

كل حزب بما لديهم فرحون

And when harm touches people, they call upon their Guardian, turning to Him; 33

واذا مس الناس ضر دعوا ربهم منيبين اليه

then when He lets them taste a benevolence from Him, behold, a party among them associates [partners] with their Guardian, 33

ثم اذا اذاقهم منه رحمه اذا فريق منهم بربهم يشركون

so as to disown what We have given them.i 34

ليكفروا بما اتينهم

Enjoy yourselves, then: soon you will know. 34

فتمتعوا فسوف تعلمون

Or have We sent down upon them an authority which speaks in favor of what they associate with Him? 35

ام انزلنا عليهم سلطنا فهو يتكلم بما كانوا به يشركون

And when We let people taste a benevolence, they rejoice in it; 36

واذا اذقنا الناس رحمه فرحوا بها

but if evil befalls them for what their own hands have committed, behold, they despair. 36

وان تصبهم سييه بما قدمت ايديهم اذا هم يقنطون

Have they not seen that God extends provision to whom He wills, and restricts it? 37

اولم يروا ان الله يبسط الرزق لمن يشا ويقدر

There are certainly in that signs for a people who believe. 37

ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يومنون

So give the close relative his due, and the destitute, and the stranded traveler;i 38

فات ذا القربي حقه والمسكين وابن السبيل

that is better for those who seek the Face of God, 38

ذلك خير للذين يريدون وجه الله

and it is they who are successful. 38

واوليك هم المفلحون

And whatever you give as a loan with guaranteed principal, that you may increase it through the wealth of people, does not increase with God;i 39

وما اتيتم من ربا ليربوا في امول الناس فلا يربوا عند الله

but whatever you give in purifying alms, seeking the Face of God — it is they whose reward is multiplied. 39

وما اتيتم من زكوه تريدون وجه الله فاوليك هم المضعفون

God is He who created you, then provided for you, then will cause you to die, then will bring you to life. 40

الله الذي خلقكم ثم رزقكم ثم يميتكم ثم يحييكم

Is there among your associates one who does any of that? 40

هل من شركايكم من يفعل من ذلكم من شي

Glory be to Him, and exalted is He above what they associate [with Him]. 40

سبحنه وتعلي عما يشركون

Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what people's hands have earned, so that He may let them taste some of what they have done, that they might return [to righteousness]. 41

ظهر الفساد في البر والبحر بما كسبت ايدي الناس ليذيقهم بعض الذي عملوا لعلهم يرجعون

Say, "Travel through the earth and see what became of those before [you]." 42

قل سيروا في الارض فانظروا كيف كان عقبه الذين من قبل

Most of them were associators. 42

كان اكثرهم مشركين

So set your face toward the upright Law, before there comes, from God, a day that cannot be turned back: 43

فاقم وجهك للدين القيم من قبل ان ياتي يوم لا مرد له من الله

that day, they will be split apart. 43

يوميذ يصدعون

Whoever denies, his denial falls back upon him; 44

من كفر فعليه كفره

and whoever does righteousness — those prepare a place for themselves — so that He may reward, out of His favor, those who believed and did righteous deeds. 45

ومن عمل صلحا فلانفسهم يمهدون ليجزي الذين امنوا وعملوا الصلحت من فضله

He certainly does not love those who deny. 45

انه لا يحب الكفرين

And among His signs is that He sends the winds as bearers of good news, so as to let you taste of His benevolence, and so that the ships may sail by His command, and so that you may seek His favor, and that you may be grateful. 46

ومن ايته ان يرسل الرياح مبشرت وليذيقكم من رحمته ولتجري الفلك بامره ولتبتغوا من فضله ولعلكم تشكرون

And We certainly sent, before you, messengers to their people; they came to them with clear proofs, and We took vengeance upon those who cut themselves off; 47

ولقد ارسلنا من قبلك رسلا الي قومهم فجاوهم بالبينت فانتقمنا من الذين اجرموا

and it was incumbent upon Us to help the believers. 47

وكان حقا علينا نصر المومنين

God is He who sends the winds; they stir up clouds, which He spreads in the sky as He wills, and breaks into fragments; then you see the rain come forth from their midst. 48

الله الذي يرسل الريح فتثير سحابا فيبسطه في السما كيف يشا ويجعله كسفا فتري الودق يخرج من خلله

Then when He causes it to reach whom He wills of His obedient ones, behold, they rejoice, 48

فاذا اصاب به من يشا من عباده اذا هم يستبشرون

even though before that, before it was sent down upon them, they were in despair. 49

وان كانوا من قبل ان ينزل عليهم من قبله لمبلسين

So look at the trace of God's benevolence: how He gives life to the earth after its death;i 50

فانظر الي اثر رحمت الله كيف يحي الارض بعد موتها

that same [Power] will certainly give life to the dead, 50

ان ذلك لمحي الموتي

and He has full power over all things. 50

وهو علي كل شي قدير

And if We sent a wind, and they saw it turn yellow, they would persist, after that, in denial. 51

ولين ارسلنا ريحا فراوه مصفرا لظلوا من بعده يكفرون

You certainly cannot make the dead hear, nor make the deaf hear the call, when they turn their backs, retreating. 52

فانك لا تسمع الموتي ولا تسمع الصم الدعا اذا ولوا مدبرين

And you are not the one who guides the blind out of their error; 53

وما انت بهد العمي عن ضللتهم

you can make hear only those who believe in Our signs, and who are true to God alone. 53

ان تسمع الا من يومن بايتنا فهم مسلمون

God is He who created you from weakness, then made, after weakness, strength, then made, after strength, weakness and old age; 54

الله الذي خلقكم من ضعف ثم جعل من بعد ضعف قوه ثم جعل من بعد قوه ضعفا وشيبه

He creates what He wills, 54

يخلق ما يشا

and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Powerful. 54

وهو العليم القدير

And on the day the Hour rises, the severed will swear they remained but an hour; 55

ويوم تقوم الساعه يقسم المجرمون ما لبثوا غير ساعه

thus were they turned away [from the truth]. 55

كذلك كانوا يوفكون

You have certainly remained, under God's Code, until the Day of Deployment;i 56

وقال الذين اوتوا العلم والايمن لقد لبثتم في كتب الله الي يوم البعث

so this is the Day of Deployment — but you did not know."i 56

فهذا يوم البعث ولكنكم كنتم لا تعلمون

That day, the excuse of the wrongdoers will not benefit them, nor will they be asked to make amends.i 57

فيوميذ لا ينفع الذين ظلموا معذرتهم ولا هم يستعتبون

And We have certainly set forth for people, in this Recitation, every kind of example; 58

ولقد ضربنا للناس في هذا القران من كل مثل

and if you bring them a sign, those who deny will certainly say, "You are nothing but workers of falsehood." 58

ولين جيتهم بايه ليقولن الذين كفروا ان انتم الا مبطلون

Thus does God seal the cores of those who do not know. 59

كذلك يطبع الله علي قلوب الذين لا يعلمون

So be patient: 60

فاصبر

God's promise is truth; 60

ان وعد الله حق

and do not let those who lack certainty shake you. 60

ولا يستخفنك الذين لا يوقنون
