Who Will Give Life to the Bones?
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Ya. Sin.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم يسBy the Recitation full of wisdom, you are surely among the envoys, upon a straight path,
والقران الحكيم انك لمن المرسلين علي صرط مستقيمa descent from the All-Powerful, the Benevolent, so that you may warn a people whose ancestors were not warned, and who are therefore heedless.
تنزيل العزيز الرحيم لتنذر قوما ما انذر اباوهم فهم غفلونThe saying has proven true against most of them: they do not believe.
لقد حق القول علي اكثرهم فهم لا يومنونWe have placed shackles on their necks, reaching up to their chins, so that their heads are held back.
انا جعلنا في اعنقهم اغللا فهي الي الاذقان فهم مقمحونAnd We have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them over, so they do not see clearly.
وجعلنا من بين ايديهم سدا ومن خلفهم سدا فاغشينهم فهم لا يبصرونIt is the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them: they do not believe.
وسوا عليهم انذرتهم ام لم تنذرهم لا يومنونYou can only warn usefully one who follows the Reminder and dreads the All-Benevolent unseen: give him good news of forgiveness and a generous reward.
انما تنذر من اتبع الذكر وخشي الرحمن بالغيب فبشره بمغفره واجر كريمIt is indeed We, We alone, who give life to the dead, and We record what they put forth and the traces they leave behind.
انا نحن نحي الموتي ونكتب ما قدموا واثرهمAnd everything, We have counted it in a clear reference.
وكل شي احصينه في امام مبينSet before them, as an example, the people of the town: when the envoys came to it, when We sent two [messengers] to them, and they called them liars; so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: "We are indeed sent to you."
واضرب لهم مثلا اصحب القريه اذ جاها المرسلون اذ ارسلنا اليهم اثنين فكذبوهما فعززنا بثالث فقالوا انا اليكم مرسلونThey said: "You are nothing but humans like us; the All-Benevolent has sent nothing down; you are only lying."
قالوا ما انتم الا بشر مثلنا وما انزل الرحمن من شي ان انتم الا تكذبونThey said: "Our Guardian knows that we are surely sent to you; and upon us is only the clear transmission."
قالوا ربنا يعلم انا اليكم لمرسلون وما علينا الا البلغ المبينThey said: "We see in you a bad omen. If you do not stop, we will surely banish you, and a painful punishment from us will touch you."
قالوا انا تطيرنا بكم لين لم تنتهوا لنرجمنكم وليمسنكم منا عذاب اليمThey replied: "Your omen lies with yourselves. Is it because you are reminded [of the truth]?
قالوا طيركم معكم اين ذكرتمRather, you are a people of the excessive."
بل انتم قوم مسرفونAnd a man came hurrying from the farthest end of the Capital.
وجا من اقصا المدينه رجل يسعيHe said: "O my people, follow the envoys; follow those who ask no reward of you, and who let themselves be guided.
قال يقوم اتبعوا المرسلين اتبعوا من لا يسلكم اجرا وهم مهتدونAnd why should I not obey the One who originated me, and to whom you will be brought back?
وما لي لا اعبد الذي فطرني واليه ترجعونShould I take, besides Him, deities? If the All-Benevolent intends harm for me, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor will they save me.
اتخذ من دونه الهه ان يردن الرحمن بضر لا تغن عني شفعتهم شيا ولا ينقذونI would then surely be in manifest error.
اني اذا لفي ضلل مبينI have indeed believed in your Guardian: so listen to me."
اني امنت بربكم فاسمعونIt was said [to him]: "Enter the Garden."
قيل ادخل الجنهHe said: "If only my people knew for what my Guardian has forgiven me, and made me one of the honored ones!"
قال يليت قومي يعلمون بما غفر لي ربي وجعلني من المكرمينAnd We did not send down upon his people, after him, any army from the sky, nor did We need to send one down.
وما انزلنا علي قومه من بعده من جند من السما وما كنا منزلينIt was but a single cry, and there they were, extinguished.
ان كانت الا صيحه وحده فاذا هم خمدونWhat desolation for the obedient ones!
يحسره علي العبادNo messenger ever came to them but they mocked him.
ما ياتيهم من رسول الا كانوا به يستهزونDo they not see how many generations We annihilated before them, [generations] that will not return to them?
الم يروا كم اهلكنا قبلهم من القرون انهم اليهم لا يرجعونAll of them, every single one, will be gathered, brought before Us.
وان كل لما جميع لدينا محضرونA sign for them: the dead earth, which We bring to life, and from which We bring forth grain, so that they eat from it.
وايه لهم الارض الميته احيينها واخرجنا منها حبا فمنه ياكلونAnd We placed therein gardens of palm trees and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth in it, so that they may eat from its fruit — and it was not their hands that produced it.
وجعلنا فيها جنت من نخيل واعنب وفجرنا فيها من العيون لياكلوا من ثمره وما عملته ايديهمWill they not then be grateful?
افلا يشكرونGlory be to the One who created all the pairs, from what the earth grows, from themselves, and from what they do not know.
سبحن الذي خلق الازوج كلها مما تنبت الارض ومن انفسهم ومما لا يعلمونA sign for them: the night, from which We strip away the day, and there they are, plunged into darkness.
وايه لهم اليل نسلخ منه النهار فاذا هم مظلمونAnd the sun runs, from a stable place that is its own.
والشمس تجري لمستقر لهاThat is the measure set by the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing.
ذلك تقدير العزيز العليمAnd the moon, We have set for it stations, until it returns like an old curved palm-stalk.
والقمر قدرنه منازل حتي عاد كالعرجون القديمIt is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor for the night to outrun the day.
لا الشمس ينبغي لها ان تدرك القمر ولا اليل سابق النهارEach sails along in an orbit.
وكل في فلك يسبحونA sign for them: We carried their descendants in the laden ship, and We created for them, in its likeness, what they ride.
وايه لهم انا حملنا ذريتهم في الفلك المشحون وخلقنا لهم من مثله ما يركبونAnd if We willed, We would drown them; then there would be none to answer their cry, nor would they be saved, except by a benevolence from Us, and enjoyment for a time.
وان نشا نغرقهم فلا صريخ لهم ولا هم ينقذون الا رحمه منا ومتعا الي حينAnd when it is said to them: "Guard yourselves against what is before you and what is behind you, so that you may receive benevolence,"
واذا قيل لهم اتقوا ما بين ايديكم وما خلفكم لعلكم ترحمونnot a single sign, among the signs of their Guardian, comes to them but they turn away from it.
وما تاتيهم من ايه من ايت ربهم الا كانوا عنها معرضينAnd when it is said to them: "Spend from what God has provided you," those who disown say to those who have believed: "Shall we feed one whom God, if He willed, would feed Himself? You are only in manifest error."
واذا قيل لهم انفقوا مما رزقكم الله قال الذين كفروا للذين امنوا انطعم من لو يشا الله اطعمه ان انتم الا في ضلل مبينAnd they say: "When will this promise be, if you are truthful?"
ويقولون متي هذا الوعد ان كنتم صدقينThey await nothing but a single cry that will seize them while they are quarreling with one another.
ما ينظرون الا صيحه وحده تاخذهم وهم يخصمونThen they will not be able to make any bequest, nor will they return to their people.
فلا يستطيعون توصيه ولا الي اهلهم يرجعونAnd the Horn will be blown, and there they are, rushing from their sepulchres to their Guardian.
ونفخ في الصور فاذا هم من الاجداث الي ربهم ينسلونThey will say: "Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our resting place?
قالوا يويلنا من بعثنا من مرقدناThis is what the All-Benevolent promised, and the envoys spoke the truth."
هذا ما وعد الرحمن وصدق المرسلونIt will be but a single cry, and there they are, all together, brought before Us.
ان كانت الا صيحه وحده فاذا هم جميع لدينا محضرونThis day, no Self will be wronged in the least, and you will be recompensed only for what you used to do.
فاليوم لا تظلم نفس شيا ولا تجزون الا ما كنتم تعملونThe companions of the Garden will, this day, be occupied in delight, they and their spouses, in the shade, reclining upon couches.
ان اصحب الجنه اليوم في شغل فكهون هم وازوجهم في ظلل علي الارايك متكونThey will have savoury fruit therein.
لهم فيها فكههAnd they will have whatever they call for. Peace!
ولهم ما يدعون سلمA saying from a Benevolent Guardian.
قولا من رب رحيم"Stand apart today, O severed!
وامتزوا اليوم ايها المجرمونDid I not bind you by a pact, O children of Adam, not to obey the Diverter — he is indeed for you a manifest enemy — and to obey Me alone?
الم اعهد اليكم يبني ادم ان لا تعبدوا الشيطن انه لكم عدو مبين وان اعبدونيThis is a straight path.
هذا صرط مستقيمYet he did lead astray a great many of you.
ولقد اضل منكم جبلا كثيراDid you not then reason?
افلم تكونوا تعقلونThis is Jahannam, which you were promised. Burn in it today, for having disowned [the truth]."
هذه جهنم التي كنتم توعدون اصلوها اليوم بما كنتم تكفرونThis day, We seal their mouths; their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will bear witness to what they used to earn.
اليوم نختم علي افوههم وتكلمنا ايديهم وتشهد ارجلهم بما كانوا يكسبونAnd if We willed, We would blot out their eyes; then they would rush toward the path, but how would they see clearly?
ولو نشا لطمسنا علي اعينهم فاستبقوا الصرط فاني يبصرونAnd if We willed, We would freeze them in their places, and they would be able neither to go forward nor to return.
ولو نشا لمسخنهم علي مكانتهم فما استطعوا مضيا ولا يرجعونAnd whomever We grant long life, We reverse in creation.
ومن نعمره ننكسه في الخلقWill they not then reason?
افلا يعقلونWe did not teach him beguiling rhetoric; it does not befit him.
وما علمنه الشعر وما ينبغي لهIt is nothing but a Reminder and a clear Recitation, so as to warn whoever is alive, and so that the saying may prove true against those who disown.
ان هو الا ذكر وقران مبين لينذر من كان حيا ويحق القول علي الكفرينDo they not see that We have created for them, from what Our hands have made, cattle which they own?
اولم يروا انا خلقنا لهم مما عملت ايدينا انعما فهم لها ملكونWe have made them docile for them: some serve as their mounts, and some they eat.
وذللنها لهم فمنها ركوبهم ومنها ياكلونAnd they have in them benefits and drinks.
ولهم فيها منفع ومشاربWill they not then be grateful?
افلا يشكرونAnd they have taken, besides God, deities, hoping to be helped. They cannot help them, though they are, for them, a mobilized army.
واتخذوا من دون الله الهه لعلهم ينصرون لا يستطيعون نصرهم وهم لهم جند محضرونSo let their sayings not grieve you.
فلا يحزنك قولهمWe know what they conceal and what they proclaim.
انا نعلم ما يسرون وما يعلنونDoes the human being not see that We created him from a drop, and yet he is a manifest quarreler?
اولم ير الانسن انا خلقنه من نطفه فاذا هو خصيم مبينHe sets forth for Us an example, forgetting his own creation.
وضرب لنا مثلا ونسي خلقهHe says: "Who will give life to the bones once they are decayed?"
قال من يحي العظم وهي رميمSay: "He who brought them into being the first time will give them life; and He is All-Knowing of all creation."
قل يحييها الذي انشاها اول مره وهو بكل خلق عليمHe who made for you fire out of the green tree, and see, you kindle from it.
الذي جعل لكم من الشجر الاخضر نارا فاذا انتم منه توقدونIs not the One who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them?
اوليس الذي خلق السموت والارض بقدر علي ان يخلق مثلهمYes indeed! And He is the Creator, the All-Knowing.
بلي وهو الخلق العليمHis command, when He wills a thing, is only to say to it: "Be,"
انما امره اذا اراد شيا ان يقول له كنand it is.
فيكونSo glory be to the One in whose hand is the sovereign dominion of all things, and to whom you will be brought back.
فسبحن الذي بيده ملكوت كل شي واليه ترجعون
