Al-Jathiya
Emotion Taken as a Deity
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Ḥa. Mim.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم حمThe descent of the Scripture comes from God, the All-Powerful, the Wise.
تنزيل الكتب من الله العزيز الحكيمSurely, in the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers.
ان في السموت والارض لايت للمومنينAnd in your creation, and in the creatures He scatters about, are signs for a people who have certainty; and in the alternation of night and day, and what God sends down from the sky as provision, by which He revives the earth after its death, and in the diversity of the winds, are signs for a people who reason.
وفي خلقكم وما يبث من دابه ايت لقوم يوقنون واختلف اليل والنهار وما انزل الله من السما من رزق فاحيا به الارض بعد موتها وتصريف الريح ايت لقوم يعقلونThese are the signs of God which We recite to you in truth.
تلك ايت الله نتلوها عليك بالحقSo in what discourse, after God and His signs, will they believe?
فباي حديث بعد الله وايته يومنونWoe to every transgressive liar, who hears the signs of God recited to him, then persists arrogantly, as if he had not heard them.
ويل لكل افاك اثيم يسمع ايت الله تتلي عليه ثم يصر مستكبرا كان لم يسمعهاSo give him news of a painful punishment.
فبشره بعذاب اليمAnd when he learns something of Our signs, he takes them in mockery.
واذا علم من ايتنا شيا اتخذها هزواThose are the ones who will have a humiliating punishment.
اوليك لهم عذاب مهينBehind them is Jahannam; and what they earned will not avail them at all, nor will what they took as allies besides God.
من ورايهم جهنم ولا يغني عنهم ما كسبوا شيا ولا ما اتخذوا من دون الله اولياAnd they will have an immense punishment.
ولهم عذاب عظيمThis is guidance,
هذا هديand those who disown the signs of their Guardian will have a punishment of painful defilement.
والذين كفروا بايت ربهم لهم عذاب من رجز اليمGod is the One who subjected the sea for you, so that ships may sail upon it by His command, and so that you may seek of His favor, and so that you may be grateful.
الله الذي سخر لكم البحر لتجري الفلك فيه بامره ولتبتغوا من فضله ولعلكم تشكرونAnd He subjected for you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, all from Him.
وسخر لكم ما في السموت وما في الارض جميعا منهThere are surely in that signs for a people who reflect.
ان في ذلك لايت لقوم يتفكرونTell those who believe to forgive those who do not expect the days of God, so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn.
قل للذين امنوا يغفروا للذين لا يرجون ايام الله ليجزي قوما بما كانوا يكسبونWhoever does what is right, it is for his own Self,
من عمل صلحا فلنفسهand whoever does wrong, it is against his own Self,
ومن اسا فعليهاthen to your Guardian you will be returned.
ثم الي ربكم ترجعونWe gave the Sons of Israel the Scripture, the judgment, and prophethood; We provided them with good things and favored them above all beings; and We gave them clear proofs concerning the Command.
ولقد اتينا بني اسريل الكتب والحكم والنبوه ورزقنهم من الطيبت وفضلنهم علي العلمين واتينهم بينت من الامرThey did not differ except after knowledge had come to them,
فما اختلفوا الا من بعد ما جاهم العلمout of aggression among themselves.
بغيا بينهمYour Guardian will indeed settle between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning what they used to differ over.
ان ربك يقضي بينهم يوم القيمه فيما كانوا فيه يختلفونThen We placed you upon a legislated way from the Command, so follow it,
ثم جعلنك علي شريعه من الامر فاتبعهاand do not follow the emotions [overriding reason] of those who do not know.
ولا تتبع اهوا الذين لا يعلمونThey will indeed not avail you anything against God,
انهم لن يغنوا عنك من الله شياand indeed the wrongdoers are allies of one another,
وان الظلمين بعضهم اوليا بعضwhile God is the Ally of those who guard themselves.
والله ولي المتقينThis is insight for the people, and guidance and benevolence for a people who have certainty.
هذا بصير للناس وهدي ورحمه لقوم يوقنونOr do those who have committed evil deeds think that We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds, equal in their life and their death?
ام حسب الذين اجترحوا السيات ان نجعلهم كالذين امنوا وعملوا الصلحت سوا محياهم ومماتهمHow evil is what they decide!
سا ما يحكمونGod created the heavens and the earth with truth,
وخلق الله السموت والارض بالحقand so that every Self may be recompensed for what it earned, and they will not be wronged.
ولتجزي كل نفس بما كسبت وهم لا يظلمونHave you seen the one who has taken his emotion [overriding reason] as his deity? God knowingly left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his core, and placed a veil over his sight. Who then will guide him after God?
افريت من اتخذ الهه هويه واضله الله علي علم وختم علي سمعه وقلبه وجعل علي بصره غشوه فمن يهديه من بعد اللهWill you not then remember?
افلا تذكرونThey said: "There is nothing but our present life; we die and we live, and nothing annihilates us but time."
وقالوا ما هي الا حياتنا الدنيا نموت ونحيا وما يهلكنا الا الدهرThey have no knowledge of that,
وما لهم بذلك من علمthey only conjecture.
ان هم الا يظنونAnd when Our clear signs are recited to them, their only argument is to say: "Bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful."
واذا تتلي عليهم ايتنا بينت ما كان حجتهم الا ان قالوا ايتوا باباينا ان كنتم صدقينSay: "God gives you life, then causes you to die, then He will gather you to the Day of Appearance, about which there is no doubt,"
قل الله يحييكم ثم يميتكم ثم يجمعكم الي يوم القيمه لا ريب فيهbut most people do not know.
ولكن اكثر الناس لا يعلمونTo God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth,
ولله ملك السموت والارضand on the day the Hour rises, that day those who deal in falsehood will lose.
ويوم تقوم الساعه يوميذ يخسر المبطلونYou will see every community kneeling,
وتري كل امه جاثيهevery community will be called to its record.
كل امه تدعي الي كتبها"Today you are recompensed for what you used to do."
اليوم تجزون ما كنتم تعملون"This is Our record; it speaks about you in truth,"
هذا كتبنا ينطق عليكم بالحق"We were indeed having transcribed what you used to do."
انا كنا نستنسخ ما كنتم تعملونAs for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Guardian will admit them into His benevolence;
فاما الذين امنوا وعملوا الصلحت فيدخلهم ربهم في رحمتهthat is the manifest triumph.
ذلك هو الفوز المبينAs for those who disowned: "Were not My signs recited to you? But you were arrogant and were a severed people."
واما الذين كفروا افلم تكن ايتي تتلي عليكم فاستكبرتم وكنتم قوما مجرمينAnd when it was said: "Indeed the promise of God is true, and the Hour, no doubt about it," you said: "We do not know what the Hour is; we only conjecture, and we are not certain."
واذا قيل ان وعد الله حق والساعه لا ريب فيها قلتم ما ندري ما الساعه ان نظن الا ظنا وما نحن بمستيقنينThe evils of what they did will have appeared to them,
وبدا لهم سيات ما عملواand what they used to mock will envelop them.
وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزونIt will be said: "Today We forget you, as you forgot the meeting of this your day; your refuge is the Fire, and you will have no helpers."
وقيل اليوم ننسيكم كما نسيتم لقا يومكم هذا وماويكم النار وما لكم من نصرين"That is because you took the signs of God in mockery, and the present life deceived you."
ذلكم بانكم اتخذتم ايت الله هزوا وغرتكم الحيوه الدنياSo today they will not be taken out of it, nor will they be asked to make amends.
فاليوم لا يخرجون منها ولا هم يستعتبونSo to God belongs praise, Guardian of the heavens and Guardian of the earth, Guardian of all beings.
فلله الحمد رب السموت ورب الارض رب العلمينAnd to Him belongs greatness in the heavens and the earth,
وله الكبريا في السموت والارضand He is the All-Powerful, the Wise.
وهو العزيز الحكيم
