Sourate Abasa (80) original (rasm)

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. He frowned and turned away, because the blind man came to him.i 2

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم عبس وتولي ان جاه الاعمي

And what can make you know? 3

وما يدريك

Perhaps he might purify himself, or remember, and the reminder would benefit him. 4

لعله يزكي او يذكر فتنفعه الذكري

As for him who considers himself self-sufficient, you give him your attention, and it is not upon you if he does not purify himself. 7

اما من استغني فانت له تصدي وما عليك الا يزكي

But as for him who came to you striving, and he fears, from him you are distracted. No! 11

واما من جاك يسعي وهو يخشي فانت عنه تلهي كلا

Indeed, it is a reminder, 11

انها تذكره

— so whoever wills, let him remember it —, in honored scrolls, elevated and purified, in the hands of scribes, noble and dutiful. 16

فمن شا ذكره في صحف مكرمه مرفوعه مطهره بايدي سفره كرام برره

Destroyed is man; how strongly he rejects the truth! 17

قتل الانسن ما اكفره

From what thing did He create him? 18

من اي شي خلقه

From a drop He created him and proportioned him, then He made the way easy for him, then He caused him to die and buried him. 21

من نطفه خلقه فقدره ثم السبيل يسره ثم اماته فاقبره

Then, when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22

ثم اذا شا انشره

No! He has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23

كلا لما يقض ما امره

Then let man look at his food: 24

فلينظر الانسن الي طعامه

that We poured the water in abundance, then We split the earth in clefts, then We caused to grow within it grain, and grapes and fodder, and olives and date-palms, and gardens of thick foliage, and fruit and pasture, as a provision for you and your livestock. 32

انا صببنا الما صبا ثم شققنا الارض شقا فانبتنا فيها حبا وعنبا وقضبا وزيتونا ونخلا وحدايق غلبا وفكهه وابا متعا لكم ولانعمكم

But when the Deafening Blast comes, the Day a man will flee from his brother, and his mother and his father, and his companion and his sons. 36

فاذا جات الصاخه يوم يفر المر من اخيه وامه وابيه وصحبته وبنيه

For every person among them, that Day, is a matter occupying him. 37

لكل امري منهم يوميذ شان يغنيه

Faces, that Day, will be radiant, laughing, rejoicing. 39

وجوه يوميذ مسفره ضاحكه مستبشره

And faces, that Day, will have dust upon them, covered in blackness. 41

ووجوه يوميذ عليها غبره ترهقها قتره

Those are the rejecters, the corrupt. 42
