Diverging Efforts
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By the night when it envelops! By the day when it shines forth! By what created the male and the female! Your efforts are surely diverse.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم واليل اذا يغشي والنهار اذا تجلي وما خلق الذكر والانثي ان سعيكم لشتيAs for the one who gives, and guards himself, and affirms the best — We will ease him toward ease.
فاما من اعطي واتقي وصدق بالحسني فسنيسره لليسريBut as for the one who withholds, and considers himself self-sufficient, and denies the best - We will ease him toward hardship.
واما من بخل واستغني وكذب بالحسني فسنيسره للعسريAnd his goods will not avail him when he falls.
وما يغني عنه ماله اذا ترديIndeed, upon Us is the guidance, and indeed to Us belong the last and the first.
ان علينا للهدي وان لنا للاخره والاوليSo I have warned you of a blazing fire, in which none will burn except the most wretched, who denied and turned away.
فانذرتكم نارا تلظي لا يصليها الا الاشقي الذي كذب وتوليAnd it will be kept away from the most guarded, who gives his goods to purify himself,
وسيجنبها الاتقي الذي يوتي ماله يتزكيand who seeks not, in any blessing he grants, except the direction of his Guardian, the Most High.
وما لاحد عنده من نعمه تجزي الا ابتغا وجه ربه الاعليAnd he will surely soon be satisfied.
