Mankind formed a single community; God then raised up the prophets, bearers of good tidings and warners, and sent down with them the Scripture, in truth, so that it might settle between people what they differed over. 2:213

كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ وَأَنزَلَ مَعَهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ فِيمَا ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ فِيهِ

And say to those to whom the Scripture was given, and to the people without a prior Scripture: "Have you become integral toward God?" 3:20

وَقُل لِّلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ ءَأَسْلَمْتُمْ

That is because they say: "We have, toward the people without a prior Scripture, no obligation", 3:75

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ سَبِيلٌۭ

And let there be from among you a community that calls to good, orders what is recognized, and forbids what is disavowed. 3:104

وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌۭ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ

You are the best community raised up for mankind: you order what is recognized, you forbid what is disavowed, and you believe in God. 3:110

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ

among the people of the Scripture, there is an upright community, which recites the signs of God in the hours of the night, prostrating. 3:113

مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أُمَّةٌۭ قَآئِمَةٌۭ يَتْلُونَ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ

but if he has no child, and his parents inherit from him, to his mother belongs a third. 4:11

فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌۭ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُ

If he has siblings, to his mother belongs a sixth, 4:11

فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخْوَةٌۭ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُسُ

Forbidden to you are: your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, your maternal aunts, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, 4:23

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأُخْتِ

your mothers who took you into their care, as well as your sisters through shared care, 4:23

وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِىٓ أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم مِّنَ ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ

the mothers of your wives, your stepdaughters under your care, from wives with whom you have consummated marriage — 4:23

وَأُمَّهَٰتُ نِسَآئِكُمْ وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى فِى حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ

How then, when We bring, from every community, a witness, and We bring you as a witness against these? 4:41

فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِشَهِيدٍۢ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شَهِيدًۭا

O you who have believed! do not make licit the perceptible markers of God, nor the inviolable month, nor the voluntary offerings, nor the vow-bound offerings, nor those heading toward the Inviolable House, seeking a favor from their Guardian and a good pleasure. 5:2

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحِلُّوا۟ شَعَٰٓئِرَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا ٱلشَّهْرَ ٱلْحَرَامَ وَلَا ٱلْهَدْىَ وَلَا ٱلْقَلَٰٓئِدَ وَلَآ ءَآمِّينَ ٱلْبَيْتَ ٱلْحَرَامَ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًۭا مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرِضْوَٰنًۭا

Say: "Who then would hold any power against God, if He willed to destroy Al-Massih, son of Maryam, and his mother, and all those on the earth?" 5:17

قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُهْلِكَ ٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا

And had God willed, He would have made you one community; 5:48

وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ

Among them, there is a moderate community, 5:66

مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌۭ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌۭ

and his mother was a woman of truth; 5:75

وَأُمُّهُۥ صِدِّيقَةٌۭ

And remember when God will say: "O Issa, son of Maryam! was it you who said to the people: Take me, and my mother, as two deities besides God?" 5:116

وَإِذْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ ءَأَنتَ قُلْتَ لِلنَّاسِ ٱتَّخِذُونِى وَأُمِّىَ إِلَٰهَيْنِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ

There is no living being on the earth, nor bird flying with its two wings, but forms communities like you. 6:38

وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍۢ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَٰٓئِرٍۢ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّآ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم

We have indeed sent [messengers] to communities before you, and We seized them with misfortune and hardship, that they might humble themselves. 6:42

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ

Thus have We embellished, for every community, its deeds; 6:108

كَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمْ

And to every community a term. 7:34

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌۭ

He will say: "Enter among communities that preceded you, of the Occulted and humans, into the Fire." 7:38

قَالَ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ فِىٓ أُمَمٍۢ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ فِى ٱلنَّارِ

Every time a community enters, it curses its [preceding] sister, 7:38

كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ أُمَّةٌۭ لَّعَنَتْ أُخْتَهَا

I will inscribe it, then, for those who guard themselves, give the purifying alms, and who believe in Our signs, those who follow the messenger, the prophet without a prior Scripture, whom they find written down with them in the Tawrah and the Injil, who orders them what is recognized and forbids them what is disavowed, makes lawful for them the good things and forbids them the vile things, and removes from them their burden and the shackles that were upon them. 7:157

فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلرَّسُولَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ ٱلْأُمِّىَّ ٱلَّذِى يَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكْتُوبًا عِندَهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُم بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَىٰهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْخَبَٰٓئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَٱلْأَغْلَٰلَ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ

So believe in God and His Messenger, the prophet without a prior Scripture, who believes in God and His words, 7:158

فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ٱلنَّبِىِّ ٱلْأُمِّىِّ ٱلَّذِى يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ

And among the people of Moussa, there is a community that guides according to the truth and that, by it, acts with equity. 7:159

وَمِن قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰٓ أُمَّةٌۭ يَهْدُونَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعْدِلُونَ

And We divided them into twelve tribes, into communities, 7:160

وَقَطَّعْنَٰهُمُ ٱثْنَتَىْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطًا أُمَمًۭا

And remember when a community among them said: "Why do you exhort a people whom God is going to destroy, or punish with a severe punishment?" 7:164

وَإِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْمًا ٱللَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًۭا شَدِيدًۭا

And We divided them on the earth into communities: 7:168

وَقَطَّعْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُمَمًۭا

And among those We have created, there is a community that guides according to the truth and that, by it, acts with equity. 7:181

وَمِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ أُمَّةٌۭ يَهْدُونَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعْدِلُونَ

But if they break their oaths after their engagement, and attack your Law, then fight the leaders of denial-disowning, 9:12

وَإِن نَّكَثُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ فَقَٰتِلُوٓا۟ أَئِمَّةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ

Mankind was but one single community, then they diverged. 10:19

وَمَا كَانَ ٱلنَّاسُ إِلَّآ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَٱخْتَلَفُوا۟

To every community, a messenger. 10:47

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ رَّسُولٌۭ

To every community a term. 10:49

لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ

And if We delay for them the punishment until a counted term, they will surely say: "What holds it back?" 11:8

وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍۢ مَّعْدُودَةٍۢ لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُۥٓ

And before him, the Scripture of Moussa, as a reference and a benevolence. 11:17

وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِمَامًۭا وَرَحْمَةً

It was said: "O Nuh, descend with a peace from Us, and blessings upon you and upon communities from those who are with you; 11:48

قِيلَ يَٰنُوحُ ٱهْبِطْ بِسَلَٰمٍۢ مِّنَّا وَبَرَكَٰتٍ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّمَّن مَّعَكَ

and there are communities that We shall let enjoy [life], then a painful punishment from Us will touch them." 11:48

وَأُمَمٌۭ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ ثُمَّ يَمَسُّهُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ

And had your Guardian willed, He would have made the people a single community; 11:118

وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ

The one of the two who had been saved said, remembering after a long while: "I will inform you of its interpretation: so send me forth." 12:45

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَٱدَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ أَنَا۠ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ فَأَرْسِلُونِ

Thus We have sent you within a community before which other communities have already passed, so that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you, while they deny the All-Benevolent. 13:30

كَذَٰلِكَ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ فِىٓ أُمَّةٍۢ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهَآ أُمَمٌۭ لِّتَتْلُوَا۟ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ يَكْفُرُونَ بِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ

No community precedes its term, nor delays it. 15:5

مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ

and these two [cities] are indeed upon a manifest path. 15:79

وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

We have indeed raised up, in every community, a messenger: "Obey God and avoid the Tyrant," 16:36

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ

By God, We indeed sent [messengers] to communities before you; but the Diverter made their actions appear pleasing to them, and he is their ally today: 16:63

تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ

And God brought you out of your mothers' wombs, knowing nothing, 16:78

وَٱللَّهُ أَخْرَجَكُم مِّنۢ بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا

And the Day We raise up, from every community, a witness, it will no longer be permitted to those who deny [to excuse themselves], nor will they be asked to make amends. 16:84

وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا ثُمَّ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ

And the Day We raise up, in every community, a witness from among themselves, against it, and We bring you, as a witness against these, 16:89

وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

And do not be like her who unravels her thread, after having firmly spun it, reducing it to fibers; you take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, on the pretext that one community is more numerous than another: 16:92

وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّتِى نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ أَنكَٰثًۭا تَتَّخِذُونَ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ أَن تَكُونَ أُمَّةٌ هِىَ أَرْبَىٰ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ

Had God willed, He would have made you a single community; 16:93

وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ

Ibrahim was indeed a community unto himself, obedient to God, wholly turned toward Him, and he was not among those who associate, 16:120

إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةًۭ قَانِتًۭا لِّلَّهِ حَنِيفًۭا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

The Day We call every group of people with their reference, 17:71

يَوْمَ نَدْعُوا۟ كُلَّ أُنَاسٍۭ بِإِمَٰمِهِمْ

O sister of Harun, your father was not a man of evil, nor your mother unchaste." 19:28

يَٰٓأُخْتَ هَٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ ٱمْرَأَ سَوْءٍۢ وَمَا كَانَتْ أُمُّكِ بَغِيًّۭا

We had already favoured you once before, when We inspired your mother with what was inspired: «Place him in the chest, then cast him into the river; 20:39

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَىٰٓ إِذْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱقْذِفِيهِ فِى ٱلتَّابُوتِ فَٱقْذِفِيهِ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ

So We returned you to your mother, that her gaze might find repose and she not grieve. 20:40

فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ

He said: «Son of my mother, do not seize me by the beard nor by the head; I feared you would say: «You have divided the Children of Israel», and that you did not heed my word.» 20:94

قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِىٓ إِنِّى خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِى

And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, 21:73

وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا

This community of yours is a single community, and I am your Guardian — obey Me, then. 21:92

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ

And for every community We have assigned a beneficent practice, that they may mention the name of God over the grazing livestock He has provided them. 22:34

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ جَعَلْنَا مَنسَكًۭا لِّيَذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ مَا رَزَقَهُم مِّنۢ بَهِيمَةِ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ

For every community We have assigned a beneficent practice which it carries out. 22:67

لِّكُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ جَعَلْنَا مَنسَكًا هُمْ نَاسِكُوهُ

No community precedes its term, nor does it delay it. 23:43

مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ

Every time a messenger came to a community, it treated him as a liar; 23:44

كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةًۭ رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ

And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign, 23:50

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةًۭ

And this community of yours is a single community, 23:52

وَإِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ

There is no fault for the blind, nor fault for the lame, nor fault for the sick, nor for yourselves, in eating in your own houses, or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers, or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your paternal uncles, or the houses of your paternal aunts, or the houses of your maternal uncles, or the houses of your maternal aunts, or [houses] whose keys you hold, or [the house] of your friend. 24:61

and those who say: Our Guardian, grant us, from our spouses and our descendants, a rest of the gaze, and make us a model for those who guard themselves — 25:74

وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍۢ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

And the day when We gather, from every community, a group among those who deny Our signs, they will be marshaled in ranks, 27:83

وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ فَوْجًۭا مِّمَّن يُكَذِّبُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ

We wanted to favor those who had been kept weak in the land, to make them leaders, to make them the heirs, to establish them firmly in the land, and to show Fir'awn, Haman, and their armies, through them, what they had been guarding against. 28:6

وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَنُرِىَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَٰمَٰنَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَحْذَرُونَ

Thus We returned him to his mother, so that her gaze might settle, that she would grieve no more, and that she would know that God's promise is true — 28:13

فَرَدَدْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّهِۦ كَىْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ

When he arrived at the water of Madian, he found there a group of people watering [their flocks], and found, apart from them, two women holding [theirs] back. 28:23

وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ مَآءَ مَدْيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْقُونَ وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ تَذُودَانِ

We made them leaders who call to the Fire, 28:41

وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ

Your Guardian never destroys cities before raising up, in their metropolis, a messenger reciting Our signs to them; 28:59

وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يَبْعَثَ فِىٓ أُمِّهَا رَسُولًۭا يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا

We will draw out from every community a witness, and We will say: "Bring your proof." Then they will know that the truth belongs to God, and what they used to invent will forsake them. 28:75

وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

And if you deny, communities before you have already denied; 29:18

وَإِن تُكَذِّبُوا۟ فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أُمَمٌۭ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ

his mother carried him, weakness upon weakness, 31:14

حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ وَهْنًا عَلَىٰ وَهْنٍۢ

And We appointed among them leaders guiding by Our command, when they had endured patiently, 32:24

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟

Nor has He made your wives — those from whom you distance yourselves [through zihar] — your mothers, 33:4

وَمَا جَعَلَ أَزْوَٰجَكُمُ ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى تُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنْهُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ

and his wives are their mothers. 33:6

وَأَزْوَٰجُهُۥٓ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ

And there is no community but a warner passed among it. 35:24

وَإِن مِّنْ أُمَّةٍ إِلَّا خَلَا فِيهَا نَذِيرٌۭ

And they swore by God their strongest oaths that if a warner came to them, they would surely be better guided than any of the communities. 35:42

وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَهُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ لَّيَكُونُنَّ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْ إِحْدَى ٱلْأُمَمِ

And everything, We have counted it in a clear register. 36:12

وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ فِىٓ إِمَامٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in three darknesses; 39:6

يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ خَلْقًۭا مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍۢ فِى ظُلُمَٰتٍۢ ثَلَٰثٍۢ

and every community schemed against its messenger to seize him, 40:5

وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ

and the word came due against them, among communities of the Occulted and humans that had already passed away before them; 41:25

وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ فِىٓ أُمَمٍۢ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ

Had God willed, He would have made them a single community, 42:8

وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ

They say rather: "We found our ancestors upon a way, and it is in their footsteps that we are guided." 43:22

بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍۢ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ

Thus We never sent, before you, a warner into a city, without its affluent ones saying: "We found our ancestors upon a way, and it is in their footsteps that we walk." 43:23

وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى قَرْيَةٍۢ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَآ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍۢ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ

And were it not that mankind might have [risked] becoming a single community [in evil], We would have given those who deny the All-Benevolent roofs of silver for their houses, and stairways by which they ascend, and doors for their houses, and couches upon which they recline, and ornaments. 43:35

وَلَوْلَآ أَن يَكُونَ ٱلنَّاسُ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ لَّجَعَلْنَا لِمَن يَكْفُرُ بِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًۭا مِّن فِضَّةٍۢ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْوَٰبًۭا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِـُٔونَ وَزُخْرُفًۭا

You will see every community kneeling, 45:28

وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةٍۢ جَاثِيَةًۭ

every community will be called to its record. 45:28

كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۢ تُدْعَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ كِتَٰبِهَا

And before it was the Scripture of Moussa, a guide and a benevolence. 46:12

وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِمَامًۭا وَرَحْمَةًۭ

His mother carried him with hardship and bore him with hardship. 46:15

حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ كُرْهًۭا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًۭا

Those are the ones against whom the word [of punishment] has come due, among communities that had already passed before them, of the Occulted and mankind. 46:18

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ فِىٓ أُمَمٍۢ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ

He knows you best, when He brought you forth from the earth, and when you were embryos in your mothers' wombs. 53:32

هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌۭ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ

Those among you who withdraw intimacy from their wives as they do from their mothers — they are not their mothers. 58:2

ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم مَّا هُنَّ أُمَّهَٰتِهِمْ

Their mothers are none but those who bore them. 58:2

إِنْ أُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ إِلَّا ٱلَّٰٓـِٔى وَلَدْنَهُمْ

It is He who raised among the people without Scripture a messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His verses, purifying them, and teaching them the Scripture and wisdom, although they were before in manifest error — and others among them who have not yet joined them. 62:3

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ فِى ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ رَسُولًۭا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ وَإِن كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِمْ

But man desires to persist in transgression before him. 75:5

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ

But when the Deafening Blast comes, the Day a man will flee from his brother, and his mother and his father, and his companion and his sons. 80:36

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ

And as for the one whose scales are light, the Abyss will be his abode. 101:9

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ
