And remember when We split the sea for you, and saved you, and drowned the clan of Fir'awn, while you looked on. 2:50

وَإِذْ فَرَقْنَا بِكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَنجَيْنَٰكُمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ

There are indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, in the alternation of night and day, in the ship that sails at sea laden with what benefits mankind, in the water that God sends down from the sky and by which He gives life to the earth after its death, spreading in it every kind of living being, in the diversity of the winds, and in the cloud subjected between the sky and the earth — signs for a people who reason. 2:164

إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ وَٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلَّتِى تَجْرِى فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ بِمَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ وَمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مِن مَّآءٍۢ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍۢ وَتَصْرِيفِ ٱلرِّيَٰحِ وَٱلسَّحَابِ ٱلْمُسَخَّرِ بَيْنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَءَايَٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَ

Lawful for you is made the game of the sea and its food, 5:96

أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ صَيْدُ ٱلْبَحْرِ وَطَعَامُهُۥ

God did not institute any bahira, sa'iba, wasila, or ham, 5:103

مَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَحِيرَةٍۢ وَلَا سَآئِبَةٍۢ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍۢ وَلَا حَامٍۢ

And He knows what is on land and in the sea. 6:59

وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ

Say: "Who saves you from the darknesses of land and sea?" — you invoke Him humbly and in secret: "If You save us from this, we will certainly be among the grateful." 6:63

قُلْ مَن يُنَجِّيكُم مِّن ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ تَدْعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعًۭا وَخُفْيَةًۭ لَّئِنْ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

And it is He who made for you the stars, so that you might guide yourselves by them in the darknesses of land and sea. 6:97

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلنُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهَا فِى ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ

And We made the Children of Israel cross the sea; they came upon a people posted before idols of their own. 7:138

وَجَٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍۢ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَصْنَامٍۢ لَّهُمْ

And ask them about the city that was near the sea: when they transgressed by practicing as-sabt [the act of rest/inaction], their fish came to them, breaking the surface; and on the day they did not practice as-sabt, they did not come to them. 7:163

وَسْـَٔلْهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ ٱلْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعًۭا وَيَوْمَ لَا يَسْبِتُونَ لَا تَأْتِيهِمْ

It is He who makes you travel on land and sea, 10:22

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ

We made the Children of Israel cross the sea; Fir'awn and his armies pursued them in transgression and hostility, 10:90

وَجَٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ بَغْيًۭا وَعَدْوًا

God is the One who created the heavens and the earth, and who sent down from the sky a water, by which He brought forth fruits as provision for you, and He subjected for you the vessel, so that it might sail upon the sea by His command, 14:32

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَأَخْرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ رِزْقًۭا لَّكُمْ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلْفُلْكَ لِتَجْرِىَ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ بِأَمْرِهِۦ

It is He who has subjected the sea, so that you may eat from it tender flesh and extract from it an ornament that you wear; 16:14

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ مِنْهُ لَحْمًۭا طَرِيًّۭا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ مِنْهُ حِلْيَةًۭ تَلْبَسُونَهَا

Your Guardian is the One who makes the vessel glide for you on the sea, so that you may seek His favor. 17:66

رَّبُّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُزْجِى لَكُمُ ٱلْفُلْكَ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ

And when harm touches you at sea, those you invoke abandon you, except Him. 17:67

وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدْعُونَ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ

We have indeed honored the sons of Adam, carried them on land and sea, provided them with good things, and preferred them, in preference, over many of those We have created. 17:70

وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍۢ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًۭا

And [recall] when Moussa said to his young companion: "I will not stop until I reach the meeting-place of the two seas, though I journey long." 18:60

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِفَتَىٰهُ لَآ أَبْرَحُ حَتَّىٰٓ أَبْلُغَ مَجْمَعَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ أَوْ أَمْضِىَ حُقُبًۭا

When they had reached the meeting-place of the two seas, they forgot their fish, which then took its way into the sea, like a mirage vanishing. 18:61

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَا مَجْمَعَ بَيْنِهِمَا نَسِيَا حُوتَهُمَا فَٱتَّخَذَ سَبِيلَهُۥ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ سَرَبًۭا

and it took its way into the sea, 18:63

وَٱتَّخَذَ سَبِيلَهُۥ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ

As for the boat, it belonged to destitute people working at sea; I wanted to damage it, for behind them was a king who was seizing every [sound] boat by force. 18:79

أَمَّا ٱلسَّفِينَةُ فَكَانَتْ لِمَسَٰكِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ فَأَرَدتُّ أَنْ أَعِيبَهَا وَكَانَ وَرَآءَهُم مَّلِكٌۭ يَأْخُذُ كُلَّ سَفِينَةٍ غَصْبًۭا

Say: "If the sea were ink for the words of my Guardian, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Guardian were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it in reinforcement." 18:109

قُل لَّوْ كَانَ ٱلْبَحْرُ مِدَادًۭا لِّكَلِمَٰتِ رَبِّى لَنَفِدَ ٱلْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَن تَنفَدَ كَلِمَٰتُ رَبِّى وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِۦ مَدَدًۭا

And We had inspired Moussa: «Travel by night with My obedient ones, and strike out for them a dry path through the sea; fear neither being overtaken, nor anything else.» 20:77

وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى فَٱضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًۭا فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ يَبَسًۭا لَّا تَخَٰفُ دَرَكًۭا وَلَا تَخْشَىٰ

Have you not seen that God has subjected to you whatever is on the earth, and the ship which sails through the sea by His command? 22:65

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلْفُلْكَ تَجْرِى فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ بِأَمْرِهِۦ

Or like darkness on a deep, surging sea: a wave covers it, above which is another wave, above which is a cloud — 24:40

أَوْ كَظُلُمَٰتٍۢ فِى بَحْرٍۢ لُّجِّىٍّۢ يَغْشَىٰهُ مَوْجٌۭ مِّن فَوْقِهِۦ مَوْجٌۭ مِّن فَوْقِهِۦ سَحَابٌۭ

It is He who made the two seas meet: this one sweet, palatable, and that one salty, bitter. 25:53

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ هَٰذَا عَذْبٌۭ فُرَاتٌۭ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌۭ

We then revealed to Moussa: 'Strike the sea with your staff.' It split, and each part was like an immense mountain. 26:63

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍۢ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

Is it not He who made the earth a stable place, placed rivers within it, gave it firmly anchored mountains, and set between the two seas a barrier? 27:61

أَمَّن جَعَلَ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًۭا وَجَعَلَ خِلَٰلَهَآ أَنْهَٰرًۭا وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزًا

Is it not He who guides you in the darknesses of land and sea, and who sends the winds, which disperse, before His benevolence? 27:63

أَمَّن يَهْدِيكُمْ فِى ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَمَن يُرْسِلُ ٱلرِّيَٰحَ بُشْرًۢا بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ

Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what people's hands have earned, so that He may let them taste some of what they have done, that they might return [to righteousness]. 30:41

ظَهَرَ ٱلْفَسَادُ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِى ٱلنَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى عَمِلُوا۟ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

And if whatever trees are on the earth were pens, and the sea, extended by seven seas after it, [were ink], the words of God would not be exhausted: 31:27

وَلَوْ أَنَّمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن شَجَرَةٍ أَقْلَٰمٌۭ وَٱلْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُۥ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ سَبْعَةُ أَبْحُرٍۢ مَّا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَٰتُ ٱللَّهِ

Have you not seen that the ships sail on the sea by the favor of God, that He may show you some of His signs? 31:31

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱلْفُلْكَ تَجْرِى فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ بِنِعْمَتِ ٱللَّهِ لِيُرِيَكُم مِّنْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ

The two seas are not alike: 35:12

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْبَحْرَانِ

And among His signs: the [ships] that run upon the sea like mountains. 42:32

وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِ ٱلْجَوَارِ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَٰمِ

"Set out with My obedient ones by night; you will be pursued. And leave the sea parted, still." 44:24

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِى لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا

God is the One who subjected the sea for you, so that ships may sail upon it by His command, and so that you may seek of His bounty, and so that you may be grateful. 45:12

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِىَ ٱلْفُلْكُ فِيهِ بِأَمْرِهِۦ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Benevolent. By the Mount! By a written record, on an unrolled parchment! By the Frequented House! By the raised canopy! By the sea set aboil! The punishment of your Guardian will, indeed, fall — 52:7

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلطُّورِ وَكِتَٰبٍۢ مَّسْطُورٍۢ فِى رَقٍّۢ مَّنشُورٍۢ وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ

He made the two seas flow together, meeting; between them a barrier they do not cross. 55:20

مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌۭ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ

And to Him belong the vessels raised up at sea, like mountains. 55:24

وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَٰمِ

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. When the sun is wrapped up, and when the stars scatter, and when the mountains are set in motion, and when the pregnant camels are neglected, and when the wild beasts are gathered, and when the seas are set on fire, and when the Selves are paired, and when the girl buried alive is asked for what wrong she was killed, and when the scrolls are laid open, and when the sky is stripped away, and when the Hellfire is set ablaze, and when the Garden is brought near, a Self will know what it has brought forward. 81:14

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. When the sky breaks apart, and when the stars scatter, and when the seas erupt, and when the graves are overturned, a Self will know what it has put forward and kept back. 82:5

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ
