• and call your witnesses, besides God, if you are truthful. 2:23

  وَٱدْعُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

• And remember when you said: "O Moussa! we can never endure a single kind of food; invoke, then, your Guardian for us, that He bring forth for us of what the earth grows, of its herbs, its cucumbers, its garlic, its lentils, and its onions." 2:61

  وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَن نَّصْبِرَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامٍۢ وَٰحِدٍۢ فَٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنۢبِتُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنۢ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّآئِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا

• They said: "Invoke your Guardian for us, that He make clear to us what it is." 2:68

  قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ

• They said: "Invoke your Guardian for us, that He make clear to us her color." 2:69

  قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا لَوْنُهَا

• They said: "Invoke your Guardian for us, that He make clear to us what she is: the cows all resemble one another to us, and we will, if God wills, be rightly guided." 2:70

  قَالُوا۟ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّن لَّنَا مَا هِىَ إِنَّ ٱلْبَقَرَ تَشَٰبَهَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّآ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَمُهْتَدُونَ

• And the likeness of those who deny-disown is that of one who cries out to what hears nothing but a call and a shout. 2:171

  وَمَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِى يَنْعِقُ بِمَا لَا يَسْمَعُ إِلَّا دُعَآءًۭ وَنِدَآءًۭ

• I answer the call of the one who calls upon Me, when he calls upon Me. 2:186

  أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ

• Those are the ones who call toward the Fire, 2:221

  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ

• while God calls toward the Garden and forgiveness, with His permission, 2:221

  وَٱللَّهُ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ

• He said: "Take, then, four birds, tame them to yourself, then place, on each hill, a part of them, then call them: they will come to you swiftly. 2:260

  قَالَ فَخُذْ أَرْبَعَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلطَّيْرِ فَصُرْهُنَّ إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ ٱجْعَلْ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ جَبَلٍۢ مِّنْهُنَّ جُزْءًۭا ثُمَّ ٱدْعُهُنَّ يَأْتِينَكَ سَعْيًۭا

• And let not the witnesses refuse, when they are called. 2:282

  وَلَا يَأْبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُوا۟

• Have you not seen those to whom a portion of the Scripture was given, called to the Scripture of God so that it may judge between them, then a group of them turns away, resolutely? 3:23

  أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ نَصِيبًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ وَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

• Right there, Zakariya invoked his Guardian. 3:38

  هُنَالِكَ دَعَا زَكَرِيَّا رَبَّهُۥ

• He said: "My Guardian, grant me, from Yourself, an excellent offspring; You are the Hearer of invocation." 3:38

  قَالَ رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةًۭ طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ

• To whoever would dispute with you about this, after knowledge has come to you, say: "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then let us pray fervently, and call the curse of God upon the liars." 3:61

  فَمَنْ حَآجَّكَ فِيهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ فَقُلْ تَعَالَوْا۟ نَدْعُ أَبْنَآءَنَا وَأَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَنِسَآءَنَا وَنِسَآءَكُمْ وَأَنفُسَنَا وَأَنفُسَكُمْ ثُمَّ نَبْتَهِلْ فَنَجْعَل لَّعْنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ

• And let there be from among you a community that calls to good, orders what is recognized, and forbids what is disavowed. 3:104

  وَلْتَكُن مِّنكُمْ أُمَّةٌۭ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْخَيْرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ

• remember when you were climbing [the hill], without turning back to anyone, while the messenger was calling you, at the rear of your ranks; He then rewarded you with anguish upon [another] anguish, so that you would not grieve either for what had escaped you, or for what had befallen you. 3:153

  إِذْ تُصْعِدُونَ وَلَا تَلْوُۥنَ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٍۢ وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ فِىٓ أُخْرَىٰكُمْ فَأَثَٰبَكُمْ غَمًّۢا بِغَمٍّۢ لِّكَيْلَا تَحْزَنُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا مَآ أَصَٰبَكُمْ

• They invoke, besides Him, only [feminine] deities, and they invoke only a rebellious Diverter, whom God has cursed, 4:118

  إِن يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ إِنَٰثًۭا وَإِن يَدْعُونَ إِلَّا شَيْطَٰنًۭا مَّرِيدًۭا لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُ

• Say: "What do you think? If the punishment of God came upon you, or the Hour came upon you, would you invoke other than God, if you are truthful?" 6:40

  قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

• In reality, it is Him you would invoke; He would then remove, if He willed, that for which you invoked Him, and you would forget what you associate [with Him]. 6:41

  بَلْ إِيَّاهُ تَدْعُونَ فَيَكْشِفُ مَا تَدْعُونَ إِلَيْهِ إِن شَآءَ وَتَنسَوْنَ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ

• And do not turn away those who invoke their Guardian, morning and evening, seeking His direction. Nothing of their account is upon you, and nothing of your account is upon them, that you should turn them away and then be among the unjust. 6:52

  وَلَا تَطْرُدِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ مَا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ وَمَا مِنْ حِسَابِكَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن شَىْءٍۢ فَتَطْرُدَهُمْ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

• Say: "I have been forbidden to obey those you invoke besides God." 6:56

  قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ

• Say: "Who saves you from the darknesses of land and sea?" — you invoke Him humbly and in secret: "If You save us from this, we will certainly be among the grateful." 6:63

  قُلْ مَن يُنَجِّيكُم مِّن ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ تَدْعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعًۭا وَخُفْيَةًۭ لَّئِنْ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

• Say: "Should we invoke, besides God, what neither benefits nor harms us, and be turned back on our heels after God has guided us, like one whom the diverters have lured on earth, bewildered, 6:71

  قُلْ أَنَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَابِنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَىٰنَا ٱللَّهُ كَٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَهْوَتْهُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ حَيْرَانَ

• while he has companions who call him to guidance: Come to us?" 6:71

  لَهُۥٓ أَصْحَٰبٌۭ يَدْعُونَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَى ٱئْتِنَا

• And do not insult those they invoke besides God, lest they insult God out of hostility, without knowledge. 6:108

  وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَدْوًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۢ

• Their only cry, when Our rigor came to them, was to say: "We were indeed unjust." 7:5

  فَمَا كَانَ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ إِذْ جَآءَهُم بَأْسُنَآ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ

• and invoke Him, devoting your allegiance to Him alone. 7:29

  وَٱدْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ

• until Our envoys come to take back [their Selves]: "Where are those you used to invoke besides God?" They will say: "They have strayed away from us", 7:37

  حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قَالُوا۟ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنَّا

• Invoke your Guardian, humbly and in secret. 7:55

  ٱدْعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًۭا وَخُفْيَةً

• and invoke Him with fear and hope. 7:56

  وَٱدْعُوهُ خَوْفًۭا وَطَمَعًا

• And when the defilement fell upon them, they said: "O Moussa! invoke for us your Guardian, by the covenant He has made with you; if you remove the defilement from us, we will certainly believe you, and we will certainly let the Children of Israel go with you." 7:134

  وَلَمَّا وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّجْزُ قَالُوا۟ يَٰمُوسَى ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ لَئِن كَشَفْتَ عَنَّا ٱلرِّجْزَ لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ لَكَ وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ

• And to God belong the most beautiful attributes; invoke Him, then, by them, 7:180

  وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ فَٱدْعُوهُ بِهَا

• and when she became heavy with it, they both invoked God, their Guardian: "If You give us a righteous [child], we will certainly be among the grateful." 7:189

  فَلَمَّآ أَثْقَلَت دَّعَوَا ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُمَا لَئِنْ ءَاتَيْتَنَا صَٰلِحًۭا لَّنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

• And if you call them to guidance, they do not follow you. 7:193

  وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَا يَتَّبِعُوكُمْ

• It is the same to you, whether you call them, or remain silent. 7:193

  سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ أَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمْ أَمْ أَنتُمْ صَٰمِتُونَ

• Those you invoke besides God are obedient ones like yourselves; 7:194

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ عِبَادٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ

• invoke them, then, and let them answer you, if you are truthful. 7:194

  فَٱدْعُوهُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

• Say: "Invoke your associates, then scheme against me, and grant me no respite. 7:195

  قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيدُونِ فَلَا تُنظِرُونِ

• And those you invoke besides Him can neither help you, nor help themselves." 7:197

  وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ

• And if you call them to guidance, they do not hear; 7:198

  وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟

• O you who have believed! respond to God and to the messenger, when he calls you to what gives you life, 8:24

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ

• Their call there will be: "Glory be to You, O God!" 10:10

  دَعْوَىٰهُمْ فِيهَا سُبْحَٰنَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ

• And the end of their call will be: "Praise be to God, Guardian of all beings." 10:10

  وَءَاخِرُ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ أَنِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

• And when hardship touches the human being, he calls upon Us lying on his side, sitting, or standing; 10:12

  وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوْ قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَآئِمًۭا

• then, when We have removed his hardship from him, he goes his way as if he had never called upon Us for a hardship that had touched him. 10:12

  فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمْ يَدْعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرٍّۢ مَّسَّهُۥ

• until, when you are in the ship and it sails with them by a favorable wind, and they rejoice in it, a violent wind comes upon them, the swell comes at them from every side, and they think they are surrounded — then they call upon God, devoting their allegiance to Him alone: "If You save us from this, we will surely be among the grateful." 10:22

  حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٍۢ طَيِّبَةٍۢ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَآءَتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٌۭ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍۢ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ لَئِنْ أَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰكِرِينَ

• God calls to the Abode of Peace, and He guides whom He wills to a straight path. 10:25

  وَٱللَّهُ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ دَارِ ٱلسَّلَٰمِ وَيَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

• and call upon whomever you can, apart from God, if you are truthful." 10:38

  وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

• what then do those who invoke, besides God, associates, follow? 10:66

  وَمَا يَتَّبِعُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ

• He said: "Your invocation is answered; so stand you both firm, 10:89

  قَالَ قَدْ أُجِيبَت دَّعْوَتُكُمَا فَٱسْتَقِيمَا

• Do not invoke, besides God, what neither benefits nor harms you; 10:106

  وَلَا تَدْعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ

• Say: "Then bring ten invented sûrahs resembling it, and call upon whomever you can, besides God, if you are truthful." 11:13

  قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦ مُفْتَرَيَٰتٍۢ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

• They said: "O Salih, you were among us a hope before this; do you forbid us to obey what our ancestors obeyed? We are indeed in a troubling doubt about what you call us to." 11:62

  قَالُوا۟ يَٰصَٰلِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّۭا قَبْلَ هَٰذَآ أَتَنْهَىٰنَآ أَن نَّعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِى شَكٍّۢ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍۢ

• their deities, which they invoked besides God, availed them nothing when your Guardian's command came, 11:101

  فَمَآ أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ ءَالِهَتُهُمُ ٱلَّتِى يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍۢ لَّمَّا جَآءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ

• He said: "My Guardian, prison is dearer to me than what they call me to; and if You do not turn their guile away from me, I would incline toward them and be among the ignorant." 12:33

  قَالَ رَبِّ ٱلسِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَّا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّى كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ

• Say: "This is my path: I call to God. 12:108

  قُلْ هَٰذِهِۦ سَبِيلِىٓ أَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ

• To Him belongs the call of truth; 13:14

  لَهُۥ دَعْوَةُ ٱلْحَقِّ

• and those they invoke besides Him respond to them in nothing, except like one who stretches out his palms toward water so that it may reach his mouth, never reaching it. 13:14

  وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَجِيبُونَ لَهُم بِشَىْءٍ إِلَّا كَبَٰسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَى ٱلْمَآءِ لِيَبْلُغَ فَاهُ وَمَا هُوَ بِبَٰلِغِهِۦ

• The invocation of those who deny is nothing but astray. 13:14

  وَمَا دُعَآءُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ

• it is to Him that I call, 13:36

  إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُوا۟

• Their envoys came to them with clear proofs, but they put their hands to their mouths and said: "We deny that with which you have been sent, and we are indeed in a troubling doubt about what you call us to." 14:9

  جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرَدُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِىٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كَفَرْنَا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَفِى شَكٍّۢ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَنَآ إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍۢ

• Their envoys said: "Is there doubt about God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you so as to forgive you some of your wrongs and grant you a delay until an appointed term." 14:10

  قَالَتْ رُسُلُهُمْ أَفِى ٱللَّهِ شَكٌّۭ فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِيَغْفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭى

• And the Diverter will say, when the matter is decided: "God made you a true promise, and I made you a promise, but I betrayed you; I had no authority over you, except to call you, and you answered me. So do not blame me, but blame yourselves: I am no rescuer of yours, nor are you mine. I deny that you associated me with God before." 14:22

  وَقَالَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ لَمَّا قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَعَدَكُمْ وَعْدَ ٱلْحَقِّ وَوَعَدتُّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ لِىَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍ إِلَّآ أَن دَعَوْتُكُمْ فَٱسْتَجَبْتُمْ لِى فَلَا تَلُومُونِى وَلُومُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُم مَّآ أَنَا۠ بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُصْرِخِىَّ إِنِّى كَفَرْتُ بِمَآ أَشْرَكْتُمُونِ مِن قَبْلُ

• My Guardian indeed hears the call. 14:39

  إِنَّ رَبِّى لَسَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ

• our Guardian, and accept my call. 14:40

  رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِ

• And warn the people of the day the punishment will come to them, and those who were unjust will say: "Our Guardian, grant us a delay until a near term: we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." 14:44

  وَأَنذِرِ ٱلنَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَخِّرْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ قَرِيبٍۢ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ ٱلرُّسُلَ

• Those they invoke besides God create nothing; it is they who are created. 16:20

  وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ

• And when those who associated see their associates, they will say: "Our Guardian, these are our associates whom we used to invoke besides You." 16:86

  وَإِذَا رَءَا ٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَهُمْ قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُرَكَآؤُنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِكَ

• Call to the path of your Guardian with wisdom and fine exhortation, and debate with them in the finest manner. 16:125

  ٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ وَجَٰدِلْهُم بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ

• The human being calls for evil with the same haste with which he calls for good, 17:11

  وَيَدْعُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ بِٱلشَّرِّ دُعَآءَهُۥ بِٱلْخَيْرِ

• The Day He calls you, you will respond in praise of Him, and you will think you had stayed only a little [while]." 17:52

  يَوْمَ يَدْعُوكُمْ فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَتَظُنُّونَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا

• Say: "Invoke those you claim [to be divine] besides Him: they have no power to remove harm from you, nor to divert it." 17:56

  قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ كَشْفَ ٱلضُّرِّ عَنكُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِيلًا

• Those very ones they invoke seek, toward their Guardian, the means of approach — whichever of them is nearest — and hope for His benevolence and fear His punishment, 17:57

  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُۥ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُۥٓ

• And when harm touches you at sea, those you invoke abandon you, except Him. 17:67

  وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ ٱلضُّرُّ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدْعُونَ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ

• The Day We call every group of people with their reference, 17:71

  يَوْمَ نَدْعُوا۟ كُلَّ أُنَاسٍۭ بِإِمَٰمِهِمْ

• Say: "Invoke God, or invoke the All-Benevolent: 17:110

  قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ أَوِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنَ

• whichever [name] you invoke, to Him belong the most beautiful attributes." 17:110

  أَيًّۭا مَّا تَدْعُوا۟ فَلَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

• We bound their Cores [firm], when they stood up and said: "Our Guardian is the Guardian of the heavens and the earth; never shall we call upon any deity besides Him — we would then have uttered an enormous excess." 18:14

  وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا۟ فَقَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَٰهًۭا لَّقَدْ قُلْنَآ إِذًۭا شَطَطًا

• Hold yourself, with constancy, alongside those who call upon their Guardian morning and evening, seeking His direction, 18:28

  وَٱصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ

• And the Day He says: "Call upon My associates whom you claimed [to have]," they will call upon them, but they will not respond to them; and We shall place between them a place of perdition. 18:52

  وَيَوْمَ يَقُولُ نَادُوا۟ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّوْبِقًۭا

• and if you call them to guidance, they will never let themselves be guided. 18:57

  وَإِن تَدْعُهُمْ إِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَلَن يَهْتَدُوٓا۟ إِذًا أَبَدًۭا

• he said: "My Guardian, the bone has grown weak within me, the head has blazed white, and never, in calling upon You, my Guardian, have I been left wanting. 19:4

  قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَهَنَ ٱلْعَظْمُ مِنِّى وَٱشْتَعَلَ ٱلرَّأْسُ شَيْبًۭا وَلَمْ أَكُنۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّۭا

• [Ibrahim] said: "Peace be upon you. I will ask my Guardian's forgiveness for you: He has ever been gracious to me. I withdraw from you and from what you invoke besides God, and I invoke my Guardian; perhaps, in invoking my Guardian, I shall not be left wanting." 19:48

  قَالَ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكَ سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِى حَفِيًّۭا وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى عَسَىٰٓ أَلَّآ أَكُونَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّى شَقِيًّۭا

• You have put forth a monstrous thing! The heavens nearly rupture from it, the earth splits open, and the mountains collapse in ruin — that they have ascribed a child to the All-Benevolent. 19:91

  لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِدًّۭا تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلْجِبَالُ هَدًّا أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدًۭا

• That day, they will follow the caller, with no deviation possible, 20:108

  يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلدَّاعِىَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥ

• That cry did not cease until We made them a mown harvest, extinguished. 21:15

  فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَٰهُمْ حَصِيدًا خَٰمِدِينَ

• but the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned. 21:45

  وَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا مَا يُنذَرُونَ

• they used to hasten to good deeds, and call upon Us in longing and in awe, and were humble before Us. 21:90

  إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًۭا وَرَهَبًۭا وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَٰشِعِينَ

• He calls upon, besides God, that which can neither harm him nor benefit him. 22:12

  يَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُۥ وَمَا لَا يَنفَعُهُۥ

• That is indeed far-reaching error — he calls upon 22:13

  ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلضَّلَٰلُ ٱلْبَعِيدُ يَدْعُوا۟

• That is because God is the Truth, and what they invoke besides Him is falsehood, and because God is the Most High, the Great. 22:62

  ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ هُوَ ٱلْبَٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِىُّ ٱلْكَبِيرُ

• and call to your Guardian, 22:67

  وَٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ

• indeed, those you invoke besides God will never create a fly, even if they gathered together for that. 22:73

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَن يَخْلُقُوا۟ ذُبَابًۭا وَلَوِ ٱجْتَمَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ

• And you indeed call them toward a straight path; 23:73

  وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ

• And whoever invokes, with God, another deity, having no proof of it, his account rests only with his Guardian. 23:117

  وَمَن يَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَٰنَ لَهُۥ بِهِۦ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦٓ

• And when they are called to God and His messenger so that he may judge between them, there is a group among them that turns away. 24:48

  وَإِذَا دُعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِذَا فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

• The only word of the believers, when they are called to God and His messenger so that he may judge between them, is to say: We have heard and we obey. 24:51

  إِنَّمَا كَانَ قَوْلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذَا دُعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَن يَقُولُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا

• Do not consider the call of the messenger among yourselves as the call of one of you to another. 24:63

  لَّا تَجْعَلُوا۟ دُعَآءَ ٱلرَّسُولِ بَيْنَكُمْ كَدُعَآءِ بَعْضِكُم بَعْضًۭا

• And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein, bound together, they will call there for their ruin. 25:13

  وَإِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ مِنْهَا مَكَانًۭا ضَيِّقًۭا مُّقَرَّنِينَ دَعَوْا۟ هُنَالِكَ ثُبُورًۭا

• Do not call today for a single ruin, but call for many ruins. 25:14

  لَّا تَدْعُوا۟ ٱلْيَوْمَ ثُبُورًۭا وَٰحِدًۭا وَٱدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا كَثِيرًۭا

• and those who do not invoke, with God, any other deity, and who do not kill the Self that God has made sacred, except by right, and who do not commit adultery — 25:68

  وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ ٱلنَّفْسَ ٱلَّتِى حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَّا بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ

• Say: My Guardian would care little for you, were it not for your invocation. 25:77

  قُلْ مَا يَعْبَؤُا۟ بِكُمْ رَبِّى لَوْلَا دُعَآؤُكُمْ

• He said [Ibrahim]: 'Do they hear you when you call upon them, or do they benefit you, or do they harm you?' 26:73

  قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ

• So do not invoke, alongside God, another god, or you would be among the punished. 26:213

  فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ

• Is it not He who answers the one in distress, when he calls upon Him, who removes evil, and who makes you successors on the earth? 27:62

  أَمَّن يُجِيبُ ٱلْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ ٱلْأَرْضِ

• You do not make the dead hear, nor do you make the deaf hear the call, when they turn their backs in retreat. 27:80

  إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ

• She said: "My father calls you, to reward you for having watered [our flock] for us." 28:25

  قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِى يَدْعُوكَ لِيَجْزِيَكَ أَجْرَ مَا سَقَيْتَ لَنَا

• We made them leaders who call to the Fire, 28:41

  وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ

• It will be said: "Call your associates." They will call them, but they will not respond to them; and they will see the punishment — if only they had been guided... 28:64

  وَقِيلَ ٱدْعُوا۟ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَهُمْ وَرَأَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَهْتَدُونَ

• call to your Guardian, 28:87

  وَٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ

• Do not invoke, alongside God, another god; 28:88

  وَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ

• God knows all that they invoke apart from Him; 29:42

  إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مِن شَىْءٍۢ

• When they board a ship, they call upon God, devoting the Law to Him exclusively; 29:65

  فَإِذَا رَكِبُوا۟ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ

• then, when He calls you with a single call from the earth, behold, you will come forth. 30:25

  ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ إِذَآ أَنتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ

• And when harm touches people, they call upon their Guardian, turning to Him; 30:33

  وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلنَّاسَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَوْا۟ رَبَّهُم مُّنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ

• You certainly cannot make the dead hear, nor make the deaf hear the call, when they turn their backs, retreating. 30:52

  فَإِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ ٱلصُّمَّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا وَلَّوْا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ

• What, even if the Diverter was calling them to the punishment of the Blaze? 31:21

  أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ عَذَابِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

• That is because God is the Truth, and what you invoke besides Him is falsehood, and because God is the Most High, the Great. 31:30

  ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلْبَٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِىُّ ٱلْكَبِيرُ

• And when a wave covers them like shadows, they call upon God, devoting the Law exclusively to Him; 31:32

  وَإِذَا غَشِيَهُم مَّوْجٌۭ كَٱلظُّلَلِ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ

• Their sides draw away from their beds, calling upon their Guardian in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them. 32:16

  تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًۭا وَطَمَعًۭا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

• nor has He made your adopted sons your [true] sons. 33:4

  وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَآءَكُمْ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ

• Call them by their fathers' names: that is more equitable with God. 33:5

  ٱدْعُوهُمْ لِءَابَآئِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ

• Then when Zayd had ended all engagement toward her, We gave her to you in marriage, so that there would be no discomfort for the believers concerning the wives of their adopted sons, once they have ended all engagement toward them. 33:37

  فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ زَيْدٌۭ مِّنْهَا وَطَرًۭا زَوَّجْنَٰكَهَا لِكَىْ لَا يَكُونَ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَرَجٌۭ فِىٓ أَزْوَٰجِ أَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ إِذَا قَضَوْا۟ مِنْهُنَّ وَطَرًۭا

• O Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news, and a warner, as one calling to God by His permission, and as an illuminating lamp. 33:46

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ شَٰهِدًۭا وَمُبَشِّرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى ٱللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَسِرَاجًۭا مُّنِيرًۭا

• but when you are invited, enter; and when you have eaten, disperse, without lingering for conversation. 33:53

  وَلَٰكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَٱدْخُلُوا۟ فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ وَلَا مُسْتَـْٔنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ

• Say, "Call upon those you claim [to be gods] besides God: 34:22

  قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ

• He only calls his party so that they may be among the companions of the Blaze. 35:6

  إِنَّمَا يَدْعُوا۟ حِزْبَهُۥ لِيَكُونُوا۟ مِنْ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ

• And those you call upon besides Him do not possess even the skin of a date-stone. 35:13

  وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِن قِطْمِيرٍ

• If you call upon them, they do not hear your call; and even if they heard, they would not respond to you. 35:14

  إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا۟ دُعَآءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا۟ مَا ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لَكُمْ

• and if a heavily laden soul calls for help with its burden, nothing of it will be carried, even by a close relative. 35:18

  وَإِن تَدْعُ مُثْقَلَةٌ إِلَىٰ حِمْلِهَا لَا يُحْمَلْ مِنْهُ شَىْءٌۭ وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰٓ

• Say: "Have you seen your partners whom you call upon besides God? Show me what they have created of the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens? 35:40

  قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ شُرَكَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌۭ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

• And they will have whatever they call for. Peace! 36:58

  وَلَهُم مَّا يَدَّعُونَ سَلَٰمٌۭ

• And Elias was indeed among the messengers, when he said to his people: "Will you not guard yourselves? Do you call upon Ba'l, forsaking the best of creators, 37:125

  وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ

• Gardens of Eden, whose gates will be opened for them, reclining therein, calling for abundant fruit and drink. 38:51

  جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍۢ مُّفَتَّحَةًۭ لَّهُمُ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبُ مُتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَٰكِهَةٍۢ كَثِيرَةٍۢ وَشَرَابٍۢ

• When harm touches the human being, he calls upon his Guardian, turning back to Him; 39:8

  وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَا رَبَّهُۥ مُنِيبًا إِلَيْهِ

• then, when He grants him a favor from Himself, he forgets what he used to call upon before, and sets up equals to God, to lead astray from His path. 39:8

  ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُۥ نِعْمَةًۭ مِّنْهُ نَسِىَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ مِن قَبْلُ وَجَعَلَ لِلَّهِ أَندَادًۭا لِّيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ

• say: "Have you considered, then, what you invoke besides God? If God willed harm for me, could they remove His harm? Or if He willed benevolence for me, could they withhold His benevolence?" 39:38

  قُلْ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَنِىَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ هَلْ هُنَّ كَٰشِفَٰتُ ضُرِّهِۦٓ أَوْ أَرَادَنِى بِرَحْمَةٍ هَلْ هُنَّ مُمْسِكَٰتُ رَحْمَتِهِۦ

• When harm touches the human being, he calls upon Us; then, when We grant him a favor from Us, he says: "This was only given to me because of some knowledge [I possess]." 39:49

  فَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ ضُرٌّۭ دَعَانَا ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَٰهُ نِعْمَةًۭ مِّنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍۭ

• Those who deny will be called out to: "God's detestation is greater than your own detestation of yourselves, when you were called to faith and you denied." 40:10

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ

• That is because, when God alone was invoked, you denied, and when something was associated with Him, you believed; 40:12

  ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُۥ كَفَرْتُمْ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِۦ تُؤْمِنُوا۟

• So call upon God, devoting the Law exclusively to Him, even if it displeases those who deny. 40:14

  فَٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

• while those they invoke besides Him judge nothing; 40:20

  وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَىْءٍ

• Fir'awn said: "Leave me to kill Moussa, and let him call upon his Guardian! I fear he may change your Law or bring about corruption in the land." 40:26

  وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ذَرُونِىٓ أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُۥٓ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَن يُظْهِرَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْفَسَادَ

• O my people, why is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire? 40:41

  وَيَٰقَوْمِ مَا لِىٓ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ

• You call me to deny God and to associate with Him what I have no knowledge of, while I call you to the All-Powerful, the Great Forgiver; 40:42

  تَدْعُونَنِى لِأَكْفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۭ وَأَنَا۠ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْغَفَّٰرِ

• there is no doubt that what you call me to has no call in the present life or in the Hereafter, that our return is to God, and that the excessive ones are the companions of the Fire. 40:43

  لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَعْوَةٌۭ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ هُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ

• Those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Jahannam: "Call upon your Guardian to lighten for us, even for one day, the punishment." 40:49

  وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ ٱدْعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا يَوْمًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ

• They will say: "Did your messengers not bring you clear proofs?" They will say: "Yes indeed." They will say: "Then call [yourselves]." 40:50

  قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟

• But the calling of those who deny is only in error. 40:50

  وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَٰلٍ

• Your Guardian has said: "Call upon Me, I will answer you; 40:60

  وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدْعُونِىٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

• so call upon Him, devoting the Law exclusively to Him; 40:65

  فَٱدْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ

• Say: "I have been forbidden to obey those you invoke besides God, since the clear proofs have come to me from my Guardian; and I have been commanded to be true to the Guardian of all beings alone." 40:66

  قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِىَ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّى وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

• They will say: "They have strayed from us; in fact, we were not calling upon anything before." 40:74

  قَالُوا۟ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ شَيْـًۭٔا

• They say: "Our cores are under covers against what you call us to, and there is a deafness in our ears, and between us and you a veil. So act — we too are acting [on our side]." 41:5

  وَقَالُوا۟ قُلُوبُنَا فِىٓ أَكِنَّةٍۢ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِنَا وَقْرٌۭ وَمِنۢ بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌۭ فَٱعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَٰمِلُونَ

• and you will have therein whatever your Selves desire, and you will have therein whatever you ask for, as a welcome from a [Lord who is] All-Forgiving, Benevolent. 41:32

  وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِىٓ أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ نُزُلًۭا مِّنْ غَفُورٍۢ رَّحِيمٍۢ

• And who speaks better than one who calls to God, does what is right, and says: "I am indeed among those true to God alone"? 41:33

  وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلًۭا مِّمَّن دَعَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا وَقَالَ إِنَّنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

• What they used to invoke before will stray away from them, and they will know that they have no escape. 41:48

  وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَدْعُونَ مِن قَبْلُ وَظَنُّوا۟ مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٍۢ

• The human being does not tire of calling for good; 41:49

  لَّا يَسْـَٔمُ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مِن دُعَآءِ ٱلْخَيْرِ

• and when evil touches him, he is full of endless calling. 41:51

  وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ ٱلشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَآءٍ عَرِيضٍۢ

• What you call them to weighs heavily upon the associators. 42:13

  كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ

• For this, then, call and stand firm as you have been commanded, and do not follow their emotions. 42:15

  فَلِذَٰلِكَ فَٱدْعُ وَٱسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ

• And they said: "O worker of illusion, call upon your Guardian for us by virtue of what He has pledged to you; we shall indeed be well guided." 43:49

  وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلسَّاحِرُ ٱدْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهْتَدُونَ

• And those they invoke besides Him have no power of intercession, except those who bear witness to the truth, and who know [it]. 43:86

  وَلَا يَمْلِكُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

• So he called upon his Guardian: "These are a severed people." 44:22

  فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمٌۭ مُّجْرِمُونَ

• They will call therein for every fruit, secure. 44:55

  يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ

• every community will be called to its record. 45:28

  كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۢ تُدْعَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ كِتَٰبِهَا

• Say: "Have you considered what you invoke besides God? Show me what they have created of the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens?" 46:4

  قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَرُونِى مَاذَا خَلَقُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٌۭ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ

• And who is more astray than one who invokes, besides God, that which will not answer him until the Day of Appearance, while they remain heedless of their invocation? 46:5

  وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن يَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَن لَّا يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُۥٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَآئِهِمْ غَٰفِلُونَ

• O our people, respond to the caller of God and believe in him: He will forgive you some of your wrongs and protect you from a painful punishment. 46:31

  يَٰقَوْمَنَآ أَجِيبُوا۟ دَاعِىَ ٱللَّهِ وَءَامِنُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ

• And whoever does not respond to the caller of God cannot escape on earth, and has no protectors besides Him. 46:32

  وَمَن لَّا يُجِبْ دَاعِىَ ٱللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍۢ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءُ

• So do not weaken and call for peace, while you are the uppermost, and God is with you, 47:35

  فَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَتَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلسَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ

• There you are — those called to spend in the path of God — yet among you are some who are stingy, 47:38

  هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ

• Say to those of the notables who stayed behind: "You will be called to [fight] a people of great might; you will fight them, or they will become true to God alone." 48:16

  قُل لِّلْمُخَلَّفِينَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ سَتُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ أُو۟لِى بَأْسٍۢ شَدِيدٍۢ تُقَٰتِلُونَهُمْ أَوْ يُسْلِمُونَ

• 'We used to call upon Him before: He is the Benevolent, the Benevolent.' 52:28

  إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

• The Day the Caller calls to something terrible, their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading out, rushing toward the Caller, 54:8

  يَوْمَ يَدْعُ ٱلدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَىْءٍۢ نُّكُرٍ خُشَّعًا أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌۭ مُّنتَشِرٌۭ مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ

• So he called upon his Guardian: 'I am overpowered, so grant [me] victory.' 54:10

  فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌۭ فَٱنتَصِرْ

• What is [the matter] with you that you do not believe in God, while the messenger invites you to believe in your Guardian, and He has already taken your covenant, if you are believers? 57:8

  وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِرَبِّكُمْ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِيثَٰقَكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

• And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about God while he is being called to true adherence to God? 61:7

  وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَهُوَ يُدْعَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلْإِسْلَٰمِ

• Then, when they see it near, the faces of those who denied will be grieved, and it will be said: 'This is what you used to call for.' 67:27

  فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةًۭ سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ

• On the day when the true state of things is uncovered, and they are called to prostrate, they will not be able, 68:42

  يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍۢ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

• though they used to be called to prostrate while they were sound [and fully able]. 68:43

  وَقَدْ كَانُوا۟ يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَٰلِمُونَ

• It is indeed the blazing Flame, stripping away the scalp, calling him who turned his back and went away, and gathered wealth and hoarded it. 70:18

  إِنَّهَا لَظَىٰ نَزَّاعَةًۭ لِّلشَّوَىٰ تَدْعُوا۟ مَنْ أَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْعَىٰٓ

• He said, "My Guardian, indeed I have called my people night and day, but my call has only increased them in flight. 71:6

  قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًۭا وَنَهَارًۭا فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا

• And indeed, every time I called them, that You might forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with great arrogance." 71:7

  وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا

• "Then I called them openly. 71:8

  ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًۭا

• And that the places of prostration belong to God, so do not invoke besides God anyone. 72:18

  وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَٰجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًۭا

• And that when the obedient ones one of God stood up calling upon Him, they almost crowded him in dense multitude. 72:19

  وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًۭا

• Say, "I only invoke my Guardian and do not associate with Him anyone." 72:20

  قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا

• But as for him who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for destruction, and he will burn in a blazing fire. 84:12

  وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًۭا وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا

• Then let him call his assembly; We will call the Zabaniya. 96:18

  فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
