• O you who have believed! the combination of wine and games of chance, as well as the sharing by lot of common goods, are nothing but a defilement, the work of the Diverter; avoid them, then, perhaps you will succeed. 5:90

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلْخَمْرُ وَٱلْمَيْسِرُ وَٱلْأَنصَابُ وَٱلْأَزْلَٰمُ رِجْسٌۭ مِّنْ عَمَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ فَٱجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

• Thus does God place defilement upon those who do not believe. 6:125

  كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

• Say: "I find, in what has been revealed to me, nothing forbidden to one who wants to eat it, except that it be a dead animal, or spilled blood, or the flesh of swine — for that is a defilement — 6:145

  قُل لَّآ أَجِدُ فِى مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ مُحَرَّمًا عَلَىٰ طَاعِمٍۢ يَطْعَمُهُۥٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَكُونَ مَيْتَةً أَوْ دَمًۭا مَّسْفُوحًا أَوْ لَحْمَ خِنزِيرٍۢ فَإِنَّهُۥ رِجْسٌ

• He said: "A defilement and an anger from your Guardian have already fallen upon you. 7:71

  قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ رِجْسٌۭ وَغَضَبٌ

• they are a defilement, 9:95

  إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌۭ

• But as for those in whose cores is a sickness, it has added a defilement to their defilement, and they died denying-disowning. 9:125

  وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْسًا إِلَىٰ رِجْسِهِمْ وَمَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

• and He places defilement upon those who do not reason. 10:100

  وَيَجْعَلُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ

• so avoid the defilement of idols, and avoid false speech, wholly turned toward God, associating nothing with Him. 22:31

  فَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلرِّجْسَ مِنَ ٱلْأَوْثَٰنِ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ قَوْلَ ٱلزُّورِ حُنَفَآءَ لِلَّهِ غَيْرَ مُشْرِكِينَ بِهِۦ

• God only intends to remove from you impurity, People of the House, and to purify you completely. 33:33

  إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمُ ٱلرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ ٱلْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًۭا
