• but righteousness is one who believes in God, the Last Day, the Agents, the Scripture, and the prophets, and who gives of his wealth, despite his love for it, to relatives, orphans, the destitute, the stranded traveler, those who ask, and for freeing those under the burden of a debt, who maintains the Contact and gives the purifying alms, 2:177

  وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلْبِرَّ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَءَاتَى ٱلْمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ ذَوِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينَ وَٱبْنَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَٱلسَّآئِلِينَ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ

• God is indeed, over you, an Observer. 4:1

  إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًۭا

• And whoever kills a believer by mistake must free a believing person from the burden of a debt, as well as a compensation delivered to his family, unless they forgo it as charity. 4:92

  وَمَن قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا خَطَـًۭٔا فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍۢ مُّؤْمِنَةٍۢ وَدِيَةٌۭ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَصَّدَّقُوا۟

• And if the slain belonged to a people hostile to you, while being a believer, then the freeing of a believing person from the burden of a debt. 4:92

  فَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍ عَدُوٍّۢ لَّكُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍۢ مُّؤْمِنَةٍۢ

• And if he belonged to a people between whom and you there is a pact, then a compensation delivered to his family, and the freeing of a believing person from the burden of a debt. 4:92

  وَإِن كَانَ مِن قَوْمٍۭ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٌۭ فَدِيَةٌۭ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍۢ مُّؤْمِنَةٍۢ

• The expiation for it will be to feed ten destitute persons, of the best food with which you feed your families, or to clothe them, or to free a person from the burden of a debt; 5:89

  فَكَفَّٰرَتُهُۥٓ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَٰكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍۢ

• then, when You took me back to You, it was You who were the Observer over them. 5:117

  فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنِى كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ

• How, then? If they gained the upper hand over you, they would respect toward you neither kinship nor covenant. 9:8

  كَيْفَ وَإِن يَظْهَرُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا يَرْقُبُوا۟ فِيكُمْ إِلًّۭا وَلَا ذِمَّةًۭ

• They respect, toward a believer, neither kinship nor covenant. 9:10

  لَا يَرْقُبُونَ فِى مُؤْمِنٍ إِلًّۭا وَلَا ذِمَّةًۭ

• The alms are destined only for the destitute, the poor, those who administer them, those whose cores have been united with the believers, those under the burden of a debt, those indebted by an unforeseen expense, in the way of God, and the stranded traveler — an obligation from God. 9:60

  إِنَّمَا ٱلصَّدَقَٰتُ لِلْفُقَرَآءِ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَٱلْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَٱلْغَٰرِمِينَ وَفِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ فَرِيضَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ

• So watch: 11:93

  وَٱرْتَقِبُوٓا۟

• I watch with you." 11:93

  إِنِّى مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٌۭ

• He said: «Son of my mother, do not seize me by the beard nor by the head; I feared you would say: «You have divided the Children of Israel», and that you did not heed my word.» 20:94

  قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِىٓ إِنِّى خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِى

• He found himself in the Capital, fearful, on watch; and there was the one who, the day before, had asked for his help, crying out to him again for aid. 28:18

  فَأَصْبَحَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ خَآئِفًۭا يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى ٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥ

• He left it, fearful, on watch, 28:21

  فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَآئِفًۭا يَتَرَقَّبُ

• And God watches over all things. 33:52

  وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ رَّقِيبًۭا

• So watch for the day when the sky brings a clear smoke that envelops the people, 44:11

  فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ

• So watch, 44:59

  فَٱرْتَقِبْ

• they too are watching. 44:59

  إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ

• So when you meet those who deny [the truth in combat], multiply the captives. 47:4

  فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَضَرْبَ ٱلرِّقَابِ

• He does not utter a word without an observer, ready [to record], being at his side. 50:18

  مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌۭ

• We are sending the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 54:27

  إِنَّا مُرْسِلُوا۟ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةًۭ لَّهُمْ فَٱرْتَقِبْهُمْ وَٱصْطَبِرْ

• And those who withdraw intimacy from their wives in this way, then go back on what they said, shall free a person from the weight of a heavy debt before they touch each other again. 58:3

  وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمْ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُوا۟ فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَتَمَآسَّا

• It is freeing someone from a crushing debt, or feeding, on a day of hunger, an orphan near of kin, or a destitute person in privation. 90:16

  فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ أَوْ إِطْعَٰمٌۭ فِى يَوْمٍۢ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍۢ يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ أَوْ مِسْكِينًۭا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۢ
