• and call your witnesses, besides God, if you are truthful. 2:23

  وَٱدْعُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

• And remember when We took your engagement: "You shall not shed your blood, and shall not expel yourselves from your dwellings"; then you acknowledged it, and you are witnesses to it. 2:84

  وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَكُمْ لَا تَسْفِكُونَ دِمَآءَكُمْ وَلَا تُخْرِجُونَ أَنفُسَكُم مِّن دِيَٰرِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَقْرَرْتُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ

• Were you witnesses, when death presented itself to Yaacoub, when he said to his sons: "What will you obey after me?" 2:133

  أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَآءَ إِذْ حَضَرَ يَعْقُوبَ ٱلْمَوْتُ إِذْ قَالَ لِبَنِيهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنۢ بَعْدِى

• And who, then, is more unjust than one who hides a testimony he holds from God? 2:140

  وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَتَمَ شَهَٰدَةً عِندَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ

• so that you may be witnesses against mankind, and the messenger a witness against you. 2:143

  لِّتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًۭا

• Whoever among you attests the beginning of that month, let him abstain in it; 2:185

  فَمَن شَهِدَ مِنكُمُ ٱلشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ

• And among the people, there is one whose discourse, on the present life, amazes you, and who calls God to witness what is in his core, while he is the fiercest of contenders. 2:204

  وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ مَن يُعْجِبُكَ قَوْلُهُۥ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيُشْهِدُ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا فِى قَلْبِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَلَدُّ ٱلْخِصَامِ

• And call two witnesses from among your men to witness it; 2:282

  وَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ شَهِيدَيْنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمْ

• and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, from among those whose testimony you approve, so that if one of the two errs, the other may remind her. 2:282

  فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌۭ وَٱمْرَأَتَانِ مِمَّن تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءِ أَن تَضِلَّ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ

• And let not the witnesses refuse, when they are called. 2:282

  وَلَا يَأْبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُوا۟

• That is more equitable with God, more upright for testimony, and closer to not doubting — except if it is an immediate trade that you conduct among yourselves: no blame then upon you for not writing it down. 2:282

  ذَٰلِكُمْ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَٰدَةِ وَأَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَرْتَابُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَٰرَةً حَاضِرَةًۭ تُدِيرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَا

• And take witnesses when you conduct a transaction among yourselves. 2:282

  وَأَشْهِدُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْ

• And let no harm be done to either the scribe or the witness. 2:282

  وَلَا يُضَآرَّ كَاتِبٌۭ وَلَا شَهِيدٌۭ

• And do not hide testimony. 2:283

  وَلَا تَكْتُمُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَٰدَةَ

• God bears witness, and so do the Agents and the possessors of knowledge, that there is no deity but Him, standing firm in equity. 3:18

  شَهِدَ ٱللَّهُ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَأُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمِ قَآئِمًۢا بِٱلْقِسْطِ

• We believe in God, and bear witness that we are true to Him alone. 3:52

  ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَٱشْهَدْ بِأَنَّا مُسْلِمُونَ

• Our Guardian, we have believed in what You have sent down, and we have followed the messenger; inscribe us, then, among the witnesses." 3:53

  رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا بِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ وَٱتَّبَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَ فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

• If they turn away, say then: "Bear witness that we are true to God alone." 3:64

  فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُولُوا۟ ٱشْهَدُوا۟ بِأَنَّا مُسْلِمُونَ

• O people of the Scripture! why do you deny-disown the signs of God, when you bear witness to them? 3:70

  يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَنتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ

• He said: "Bear witness to it, then, and I am, with you, among the witnesses." 3:81

  قَالَ فَٱشْهَدُوا۟ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

• How would God guide a people who denied-disowned after having believed, and after having testified that the messenger is true, and the clear proofs had come to them? 3:86

  كَيْفَ يَهْدِى ٱللَّهُ قَوْمًۭا كَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِهِمْ وَشَهِدُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلرَّسُولَ حَقٌّۭ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُ

• Say: "O people of the Scripture! why do you deny-disown the signs of God, when God is witness to what you do?" 3:98

  قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا تَعْمَلُونَ

• Say: "O people of the Scripture! why do you turn away from the path of God him who has believed, seeking to make it crooked, while you are witnesses to it?" 3:99

  قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ تَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًۭا وَأَنتُمْ شُهَدَآءُ

• so that God may recognize those who have believed, and take from among you witnesses — 3:140

  وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنكُمْ شُهَدَآءَ

• And when you hand over their possessions to them, take witnesses regarding them. 4:6

  فَإِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فَأَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ

• And those of your women who commit indecency, take against them the testimony of four among you; 4:15

  وَٱلَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةًۭ مِّنكُمْ

• and if they testify, then keep them within the household rather than casting them out, until death recalls them [to God], or God opens a way for them. 4:15

  فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًۭا

• God is indeed, over all things, a witness. 4:33

  إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدًا

• How then, when We bring, from every community, a witness, and We bring you as a witness against these? 4:41

  فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِشَهِيدٍۢ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شَهِيدًۭا

• And whoever obeys God and the messenger, those will be with those God has blessed, among the prophets, the men of truth, the witnesses, and the righteous. 4:69

  وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

• and if misfortune strikes you, he says: "God has blessed me, since I was not present with them." 4:72

  فَإِنْ أَصَٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةٌۭ قَالَ قَدْ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىَّ إِذْ لَمْ أَكُن مَّعَهُمْ شَهِيدًۭا

• God suffices as a witness. 4:79

  وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۭا

• O you who have believed! be firm supporters in equity, witnesses for God, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your relatives. 4:135

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ قَوَّٰمِينَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ شُهَدَآءَ لِلَّهِ وَلَوْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَوِ ٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ

• And there is none among the people of the Scripture who will not certainly believe in him before his death; and on the Day of Appearance, he will be a witness against them. 4:159

  وَإِن مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِۦ وَيَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًۭا

• But God testifies to what He has sent down to you; 4:166

  لَّٰكِنِ ٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكَ

• He sent it down with full knowledge, and the Agents bear witness to it. 4:166

  أَنزَلَهُۥ بِعِلْمِهِۦ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَشْهَدُونَ

• And God suffices as a witness. 4:166

  وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا

• O you who have believed! be firm supporters for God, bearing witness with equity, 5:8

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ قَوَّٰمِينَ لِلَّهِ شُهَدَآءَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ

• We indeed sent down the Tawrah, wherein is guidance and light; the prophets, who were true to God alone, judged by it the Reoriented, as did the spiritual masters and the rabbis, according to what they were entrusted to guard of God's Scripture, and they were witnesses to it. 5:44

  إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًۭى وَنُورٌۭ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ

• And when they hear what has been revealed to the messenger, you see their eyes overflow with tears, for having recognized the truth; they say: "Our Guardian, we have believed; inscribe us, then, among the witnesses. 5:83

  وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا۟ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ تَرَىٰٓ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَٱكْتُبْنَا مَعَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

• O you who have believed! testimony between you, when death presents itself to one of you, at the time of the testament: two equitable [persons] among you, or two others, outside your circle, if you are traveling on the earth and the calamity of death strikes you. 5:106

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ شَهَٰدَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ حِينَ ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ ٱثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍۢ مِّنكُمْ أَوْ ءَاخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ إِنْ أَنتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَصَٰبَتْكُم مُّصِيبَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ

• and we will not hide the testimony of God; we would then indeed be among the transgressors." 5:106

  وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَٰدَةَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّآ إِذًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْءَاثِمِينَ

• by God: "Our testimony is indeed more worthy than theirs, and we have not transgressed; 5:107

  بِٱللَّهِ لَشَهَٰدَتُنَآ أَحَقُّ مِن شَهَٰدَتِهِمَا وَمَا ٱعْتَدَيْنَآ

• That is closer to their bringing testimony in its proper form, or their fearing that other oaths might be opposed to their oaths. 5:108

  ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَن يَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهَآ أَوْ يَخَافُوٓا۟ أَن تُرَدَّ أَيْمَٰنٌۢ بَعْدَ أَيْمَٰنِهِمْ

• they said: "We believe, and bear witness that we are true to God alone." 5:111

  قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَٱشْهَدْ بِأَنَّنَا مُسْلِمُونَ

• They said: "We want to eat from it, that our cores may find ease, that we may know you have told us the truth, and be witnesses to it." 5:113

  قَالُوا۟ نُرِيدُ أَن نَّأْكُلَ مِنْهَا وَتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا وَنَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ صَدَقْتَنَا وَنَكُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

• and I was a witness over them, as long as I remained among them; 5:117

  وَكُنتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًۭا مَّا دُمْتُ فِيهِمْ

• And You are, over all things, a witness. 5:117

  وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

• Say: "What thing is greatest in testimony?" Say: "God, 6:19

  قُلْ أَىُّ شَىْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَٰدَةًۭ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ

• witness between me and you. 6:19

  شَهِيدٌۢ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ

• Do you truly bear witness that there are, with God, other deities?" Say: "I do not bear witness [to that]." 6:19

  أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ قُل لَّآ أَشْهَدُ

• Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, 6:73

  عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ

• They will say: "We bear witness against ourselves"; 6:130

  قَالُوا۟ شَهِدْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَا

• and the present life deceived them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were denying-disowning. 6:130

  وَغَرَّتْهُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰفِرِينَ

• Or were you witnesses, when God prescribed this to you?" 6:144

  أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَآءَ إِذْ وَصَّىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا

• Say: "Bring your witnesses, those who testify that God has forbidden this." 6:150

  قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَٰذَا

• If they testify, do not testify with them, 6:150

  فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ

• and they will bear witness against themselves that they were denying-disowning. 7:37

  وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰفِرِينَ

• And remember when your Guardian drew forth from the children of Adam their descendants after them, and made them bear witness concerning themselves: "Am I not your Guardian?" They said: "Yes indeed, we bear witness!" 7:172

  وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ

• [This,] lest you say, on the Day of Appearance: "We were indeed heedless of this", or that you say: "It was our ancestors who, before, associated, and we were only a descendance after them. 7:173

  شَهِدْنَآ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ أَوْ تَقُولُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَشْرَكَ ءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةًۭ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ

• It is not for the associators to populate the places of prostration of God, bearing witness against themselves of denial-disowning. 9:17

  مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُوا۟ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ شَٰهِدِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِم بِٱلْكُفْرِ

• then you will be brought back to the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, and He will inform you of what you used to do." 9:94

  ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

• and you will be brought back to the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, and He will inform you of what you used to do." 9:105

  وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

• but God testifies that they are indeed liars. 9:107

  وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

• God suffices as a witness between us and you: we were indeed heedless of your obey. 10:29

  فَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمْ إِن كُنَّا عَنْ عِبَادَتِكُمْ لَغَٰفِلِينَ

• God is thereafter a witness over what they do. 10:46

  ثُمَّ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ

• You are not in any situation, nor do you recite any Recitation from it, nor do you do any deed, without Our being witnesses over you when you engage in it. 10:61

  وَمَا تَكُونُ فِى شَأْنٍۢ وَمَا تَتْلُوا۟ مِنْهُ مِن قُرْءَانٍۢ وَلَا تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ عَمَلٍ إِلَّا كُنَّا عَلَيْكُمْ شُهُودًا إِذْ تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِ

• Is he who relies on a clear proof from his Guardian, followed by a witness from Him, [like those others]? 11:17

  أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌۭ مِّنْهُ

• Those are the ones who will be presented before their Guardian, and the witnesses will say: "These are the ones who lied against their Guardian!" 11:18

  أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْأَشْهَٰدُ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ

• He said: "I call God to witness, 11:54

  قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أُشْهِدُ ٱللَّهَ

• And bear witness that I am innocent of what you associate besides Him: 11:55

  وَٱشْهَدُوٓا۟ أَنِّى بَرِىٓءٌۭ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ

• and that is a witnessed day. 11:103

  وَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٌۭ مَّشْهُودٌۭ

• A witness from her family bore witness: "If his shirt is torn from the front, she speaks truly, and he is among the liars; but if his shirt is torn from behind, she has lied, 12:27

  وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌۭ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن قُبُلٍۢ فَصَدَقَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ وَإِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍۢ فَكَذَبَتْ

• and we attest only to what we know, and we could not guard what escaped the senses. 12:81

  وَمَا شَهِدْنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَٰفِظِينَ

• The Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, 13:9

  عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ

• Say: "God suffices as witness between me and you, and whoever holds the knowledge of the Scripture." 13:43

  قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ

• And the Day We raise up, from every community, a witness, it will no longer be permitted to those who deny [to excuse themselves], nor will they be asked to make amends. 16:84

  وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا ثُمَّ لَا يُؤْذَنُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ

• And the Day We raise up, in every community, a witness from among themselves, against it, and We bring you, as a witness against these, 16:89

  وَيَوْمَ نَبْعَثُ فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ شَهِيدًا عَلَىٰ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ

• the recitation of dawn is indeed witnessed. 17:78

  إِنَّ قُرْءَانَ ٱلْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًۭا

• Say: "God suffices as witness between me and you: 17:96

  قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ

• I did not make them witnesses to the creation of the heavens and the earth, nor to their own creation, and I would never take those who mislead as a support. 18:51

  مَّآ أَشْهَدتُّهُمْ خَلْقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا خَلْقَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمَا كُنتُ مُتَّخِذَ ٱلْمُضِلِّينَ عَضُدًۭا

• So woe to those who deny, at the appearing of an immense Day! 19:37

  فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

• and I am, among you, one of those who bear witness to that.' 21:56

  وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

• They said: 'Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people, so that they may witness.' 21:61

  قَالُوا۟ فَأْتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ

• and We were witnesses to their judgment. 21:78

  وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَٰهِدِينَ

• Indeed, God is witness over all things. 22:17

  إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

• And proclaim to mankind the Hajj: they will come to you on foot and on every lean mount, coming from every distant, deep-cut path, to witness the benefits [granted] to them and to mention the name of God on known days over the grazing livestock He has provided them. 22:28

  وَأَذِّن فِى ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَجِّ يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالًۭا وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ ضَامِرٍۢ يَأْتِينَ مِن كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍۢ لِّيَشْهَدُوا۟ مَنَٰفِعَ لَهُمْ وَيَذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ فِىٓ أَيَّامٍۢ مَّعْلُومَٰتٍ عَلَىٰ مَا رَزَقَهُم مِّنۢ بَهِيمَةِ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ

• It is He who named you the true [servants of God] before, and in this [Recitation], so that the Messenger may be a witness over you, and that you may be witnesses over mankind. 22:78

  هُوَ سَمَّىٰكُمُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ مِن قَبْلُ وَفِى هَٰذَا لِيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ

• Knower of what escapes our presence and of what is manifest, 23:92

  عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ

• and let a group of believers witness their punishment. 24:2

  وَلْيَشْهَدْ عَذَابَهُمَا طَآئِفَةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

• And those who accuse women protected by contract, then do not bring four witnesses, inflict on them eighty lashes, 24:4

  وَٱلَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْتُوا۟ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَآءَ فَٱجْلِدُوهُمْ ثَمَٰنِينَ جَلْدَةًۭ

• and never accept their testimony again — those are the oversteppers, except those who repented after that and reformed, for God is ever Forgiving, benevolent. 24:5

  وَلَا تَقْبَلُوا۟ لَهُمْ شَهَٰدَةً أَبَدًۭا وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَأَصْلَحُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

• And those who accuse their spouses, having no witnesses except themselves, the testimony of one of them shall be four oaths by God that he is indeed among the truthful, and the fifth, that the curse of God be upon him if he is among the liars. 24:7

  وَٱلَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ شُهَدَآءُ إِلَّآ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَشَهَٰدَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ أَرْبَعُ شَهَٰدَٰتٍۭ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ وَٱلْخَٰمِسَةُ أَنَّ لَعْنَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ

• And the punishment will be averted from her if she testifies four times by God that he is among the liars, and a fifth time, that the wrath of God be upon her if he is among the truthful. 24:9

  وَيَدْرَؤُا۟ عَنْهَا ٱلْعَذَابَ أَن تَشْهَدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَٰدَٰتٍۭ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ وَٱلْخَٰمِسَةَ أَنَّ غَضَبَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهَآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ

• If only they had brought four witnesses concerning it! 24:13

  لَّوْلَا جَآءُو عَلَيْهِ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَآءَ

• Since they did not bring the witnesses, those are, in the sight of God, the liars. 24:13

  فَإِذْ لَمْ يَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلشُّهَدَآءِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ

• Those who accuse women protected by contract, unwitting, believing, are cursed in the present life and the hereafter, and they will have an immense punishment, on the day when their tongues, their hands, and their feet will testify against them for what they used to do. 24:24

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ ٱلْغَٰفِلَٰتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ لُعِنُوا۟ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌۭ يَوْمَ تَشْهَدُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ وَأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

• And those who do not bear witness to falsehood, and who, when they pass by frivolity, pass with dignity, 25:72

  وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ ٱلزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِٱللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا۟ كِرَامًۭا

• She said [the Queen of Saba]: 'O court, advise me on my affair; I do not decide any affair without you bearing witness to it.' 27:32

  قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَؤُا۟ أَفْتُونِى فِىٓ أَمْرِى مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ

• They said: 'Swear to one another by God that we will attack him by night, him and his family, then we will certainly say to his legal guardian: We did not witness the destruction of his family, and we are certainly truthful.' 27:49

  قَالُوا۟ تَقَاسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ

• nor were you among those who witnessed it. 28:44

  وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ

• We will draw out from every community a witness, and We will say: "Bring your proof." Then they will know that the truth belongs to God, and what they used to invent will forsake them. 28:75

  وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

• Say: "God suffices as a witness between me and you; 29:52

  قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيدًۭا

• That is the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, the All-Powerful, the Benevolent, 32:6

  ذَٰلِكَ عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

• O Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news, and a warner, as one calling to God by His permission, and as an illuminating lamp. 33:46

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ شَٰهِدًۭا وَمُبَشِّرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى ٱللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَسِرَاجًۭا مُّنِيرًۭا

• God is, over all things, a witness. 33:55

  إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدًا

• and He is, over all things, a witness." 34:47

  وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌۭ

• This day, We seal their mouths; their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will bear witness to what they used to earn. 36:65

  ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

• Or did We create the Agents female, while they witnessed it? 37:150

  أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ

• Say: "O God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of what escapes our presence and of what is manifest, You alone will judge between Your obedient ones concerning that in which they used to differ." 39:46

  قُلِ ٱللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ عَٰلِمَ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ أَنتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِى مَا كَانُوا۟ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

• The earth will shine with the light of its Guardian; the record will be set down; the prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward; it will be judged between them in truth, and they will not be wronged. 39:69

  وَأَشْرَقَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِنُورِ رَبِّهَا وَوُضِعَ ٱلْكِتَٰبُ وَجِا۟ىٓءَ بِٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَقُضِىَ بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

• We surely help Our messengers and those who believe, in the present life and on the day the witnesses rise, the day the excuse of the wrongdoers will not benefit them; theirs will be the curse, and theirs the worst of homes. 40:52

  إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْأَشْهَٰدُ يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ

• until, when they reach it, their hearing, their sights, and their skins will testify against them about what they used to do. 41:20

  حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا مَا جَآءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

• They will say to their skins: "Why did you testify against us?" 41:21

  وَقَالُوا۟ لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَا

• You were not hiding [in thinking] that your hearing, your sights, and your skins would not testify against you; 41:22

  وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَن يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَآ أَبْصَٰرُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ

• and the day He calls out to them: "Where are My partners?", they will say: "We inform You that there is not among us any witness." 41:47

  وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِى قَالُوٓا۟ ءَاذَنَّٰكَ مَا مِنَّا مِن شَهِيدٍۢ

• Is it not enough that your Guardian is witness over all things? 41:53

  أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

• Did they witness their creation? 43:19

  أَشَهِدُوا۟ خَلْقَهُمْ

• Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned. 43:19

  سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَٰدَتُهُمْ وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ

• And those they invoke besides Him have no power of intercession, except those who bear witness to the truth, and who know [it]. 43:86

  وَلَا يَمْلِكُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَن شَهِدَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

• He suffices as a witness between me and you. 46:8

  كَفَىٰ بِهِۦ شَهِيدًۢا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ

• Say: "Have you considered: if this is from God and you deny it, while a witness among the Children of Israel has testified to its conformity and believed, whereas you are arrogant..." 46:10

  قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُم بِهِۦ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌۭ مِّنۢ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ عَلَىٰ مِثْلِهِۦ فَـَٔامَنَ وَٱسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ

• We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news, and a warner, so that you may believe in God and His messenger, that you may support him, that you may honor him, and that you may glorify God morning and evening. 48:9

  إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ شَٰهِدًۭا وَمُبَشِّرًۭا وَنَذِيرًۭا لِّتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوهُ وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةًۭ وَأَصِيلًا

• And God suffices as a witness. 48:28

  وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۭا

• And every Self will come, accompanied by a driver and a witness. 50:21

  وَجَآءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٌۭ وَشَهِيدٌۭ

• There is indeed a reminder in that for whoever has a core, or lends an ear while being present [of mind]. 50:37

  إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى ٱلسَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌۭ

• And the witnesses, with their Guardian. 57:19

  وَٱلشُّهَدَآءُ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ

• And God is witness over all things. 58:6

  وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

• And God bears witness that they are indeed liars. 59:11

  وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

• Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest. 59:22

  عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ

• Say: Indeed, the death from which you flee will surely meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, and He will inform you of what you used to do. 62:8

  قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْمَوْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ مُلَٰقِيكُمْ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

• In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Benevolent. When the hypocrites come to you, they say: We testify that you are indeed the messenger of God. 63:1

  بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُوا۟ نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ

• And God testifies that the hypocrites are surely liars. 63:1

  وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

• He is the Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is manifest, 64:18

  عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ

• and take as witnesses two just persons among you, 65:2

  وَأَشْهِدُوا۟ ذَوَىْ عَدْلٍۢ مِّنكُمْ

• and give that testimony for God's sake. 65:2

  وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَٰدَةَ لِلَّهِ

• and those who are upright in their testimonies, 70:33

  وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِشَهَٰدَٰتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَ

• Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you, just as We sent to Fir'awn a messenger. But Fir'awn disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 73:16

  إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًۭا شَٰهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًۭا فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ أَخْذًۭا وَبِيلًۭا

• Leave Me with the one I created alone, and gave him extensive wealth, and children present with him, and spread everything before him, easing his life — then he desires that I should add more. No! 74:16

  ذَرْنِى وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًۭا وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُۥ مَالًۭا مَّمْدُودًۭا وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًۭا وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُۥ تَمْهِيدًۭا ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ كَلَّآ

• And what can make you know what 'Illiyyun is? A written record, witnessed by those brought near. 83:21

  وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ كِتَٰبٌۭ مَّرْقُومٌۭ يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

• In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By the sky containing constellations! And by the promised Day! And by a witness and what is witnessed! Destroyed were the people of the trench, of the fire richly fueled, when they sat around it, and were witnesses to what they were doing to the believers. 85:7

  بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ وَشَاهِدٍۢ وَمَشْهُودٍۢ قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌۭ وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌۭ

• And God is Witness over all things. 85:9

  وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

• In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. By those who transgress, panting, who strike the spark through their clashes, who launch the assault at dawn, stirring up the dust, to plunge thereby into the heart of a host! Man is, toward his Guardian, rebelliously ungrateful, and he is himself a witness to that, and for the love of wealth he is fierce. 100:8

  بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلْعَٰدِيَٰتِ ضَبْحًۭا فَٱلْمُورِيَٰتِ قَدْحًۭا فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبْحًۭا فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًۭا فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌۭ وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌۭ وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ
