• but to turn away from the path of God, deny-disown it, [turn away] from the inviolable place of prostration, and expel its inhabitants from it, is graver still with God; 2:217

  وَصَدٌّ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَكُفْرٌۢ بِهِۦ وَٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَإِخْرَاجُ أَهْلِهِۦ مِنْهُ أَكْبَرُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ

• Say: "O people of the Scripture! why do you turn away from the path of God him who has believed, seeking to make it crooked, while you are witnesses to it?" 3:99

  قُلْ يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لِمَ تَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ تَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًۭا وَأَنتُمْ شُهَدَآءُ

• Among them, there are some who believed in it, and some who turned away from it. 4:55

  فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَمِنْهُم مَّن صَدَّ عَنْهُ

• And when it is said to them: "Come to what God has sent down, and to the messenger", you see the hypocrites turn away from you, resolutely. 4:61

  وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ رَأَيْتَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودًۭا

• It is for the injustice of those who practice Judaism that We forbade them good things that had been made lawful for them, and for having greatly turned away from the path of God, and for having practiced usury, though they had been forbidden it, and devoured the wealth of people through falsehood. 4:161

  فَبِظُلْمٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ طَيِّبَٰتٍ أُحِلَّتْ لَهُمْ وَبِصَدِّهِمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ كَثِيرًۭا وَأَخْذِهِمُ ٱلرِّبَوٰا۟ وَقَدْ نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَكْلِهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ

• Those who denied-disowned and turned away from the path of God have indeed strayed far astray. 4:167

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ ضَلَٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا

• And let not the hatred of a people, for having turned you away from the inviolable place of prostration, drive you to transgress. 5:2

  وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوْمٍ أَن صَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ أَن تَعْتَدُوا۟

• The Diverter wants only to cast, among you, by wine and games of chance, enmity and hatred, and to turn you away from the remembrance of God and from the Contact. 5:91

  إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَن يُوقِعَ بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ فِى ٱلْخَمْرِ وَٱلْمَيْسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَنِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ

• Then a herald will proclaim among them: "The curse of God is upon the unjust, who turn away from the path of God, seeking to make it crooked, and who deny the last life." 7:45

  فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌۢ بَيْنَهُمْ أَن لَّعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًۭا وَهُم بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ كَٰفِرُونَ

• And do not sit in wait on every path, threatening and turning away from the path of God whoever believes in Him, and seeking to make it crooked. 7:86

  وَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ بِكُلِّ صِرَٰطٍۢ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًۭا

• And what reason would they have for God not to punish them, while they turn [people] away from the inviolable place of prostration, without even being its protectors? 8:34

  وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوٓا۟ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥٓ

• Those who deny-disown spend their wealth so as to turn [others] away from the path of God. 8:36

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

• And do not be like those who came out of their dwellings with insolence and for show before the people, and who turn [others] away from the path of God. 8:47

  وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِهِم بَطَرًۭا وَرِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

• They sold the signs of God for a small price, and they turned away from His path. 9:9

  ٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًۭا قَلِيلًۭا فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦٓ

• O you who have believed! many rabbis and monks devour the wealth of people through falsehood, and turn [others] away from the path of God. 9:34

  يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ كَثِيرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْبَارِ وَٱلرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

• Is it not that God's curse falls upon the unjust, those who turn away from God's path and seek to make it crooked, and who deny the last life? 11:19

  أَلَا لَعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَى ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًۭا وَهُم بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

• It is nothing of the sort: their scheme has been made to appear pleasing to those who deny, and they have been turned away from the path. 13:33

  بَلْ زُيِّنَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مَكْرُهُمْ وَصُدُّوا۟ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

• those who prefer the present life to the last life, who turn away from God's path and seek to make it crooked: those are the ones in deep error. 14:3

  ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍۢ

• They said: "You are only human beings like us; you want to turn us away from what our ancestors obeyed. So bring us a manifest authority." 14:10

  قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُنَا تُرِيدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا فَأْتُونَا بِسُلْطَٰنٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ

• and every stubborn tyrant was disappointed; behind him, Jahannam, and he will be given to drink there a purulent water, which he will gulp down without almost being able to swallow it; death will come to him from every side without his dying; and behind that, an implacable punishment. 14:17

  وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍۢ مِّن وَرَآئِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ وَيُسْقَىٰ مِن مَّآءٍۢ صَدِيدٍۢ يَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُۥ وَيَأْتِيهِ ٱلْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍۢ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٍۢ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِۦ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٌۭ

• Those who deny and who turned away from God's path — We shall add for them a punishment upon the punishment, for the corruption they spread. 16:88

  ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ زِدْنَٰهُمْ عَذَابًۭا فَوْقَ ٱلْعَذَابِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يُفْسِدُونَ

• And do not take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, or a foot would slip after having been firm, and you would taste evil for having turned away from God's path; and you would have an immense punishment. 16:94

  وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ دَخَلًۢا بَيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ بَعْدَ ثُبُوتِهَا وَتَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِمَا صَدَدتُّمْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌۭ

• Let not him who does not believe in it and follows his emotion turn you away from it, lest you perish. 20:16

  فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ

• Indeed, those who deny and turn [people] away from the way of God and from the Sacred Mosque, which We made for the people equally, whether one dwells there or is passing through — 22:25

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلْنَٰهُ لِلنَّاسِ سَوَآءً ٱلْعَٰكِفُ فِيهِ وَٱلْبَادِ

• I found her and her people prostrating before the sun, besides God; and the Diverter has made their deeds seem fair to them, and thus turned them from the path, so that they are not guided, so that they do not prostrate before God, who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and who knows what they conceal and what they disclose. 27:25

  وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ أَلَّا يَسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى يُخْرِجُ ٱلْخَبْءَ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُخْفُونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ

• And what she used to obey, besides God, had turned her away; 27:43

  وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ

• Let them not turn you away from the signs of God after they have been revealed to you; 28:87

  وَلَا يَصُدُّنَّكَ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أُنزِلَتْ إِلَيْكَ

• And the Recidivists [Aad] and the Depleters [Thamud] — this has become clear to you through their dwellings; the Diverter had embellished their deeds to them and turned them away from the path, though they had clear sight. 29:38

  وَعَادًۭا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَقَد تَّبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَٰكِنِهِمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُوا۟ مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ

• Those who were arrogant will say to those who were deemed weak, "Was it we who turned you away from guidance after it had come to you? No — you were rather severed." 34:32

  قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتُضْعِفُوٓا۟ أَنَحْنُ صَدَدْنَٰكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْهُدَىٰ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَآءَكُم بَلْ كُنتُم مُّجْرِمِينَ

• And when Our verses are recited to them, clear, they say, "This is nothing but a man who wants to turn you away from what your ancestors used to obey"; and they say, "This is nothing but a fabricated lie." 34:43

  وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍۢ قَالُوا۟ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا رَجُلٌۭ يُرِيدُ أَن يَصُدَّكُمْ عَمَّا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ إِفْكٌۭ مُّفْتَرًۭى

• Thus was the evil of his deed made appealing to Fir'awn, and he was turned away from the path; 40:37

  وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

• and these [the Shayatin] indeed bar them from the way, while they suppose themselves to be guided. 43:37

  وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ

• And when the son of Maryam was set up as an example, your people turned away from it with cries [of mockery]. 43:57

  وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلًا إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّونَ

• And let not the Diverter bar you; 43:62

  وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ

• In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Those who deny and turn [people] away from the path of God — He renders their deeds astray. 47:1

  بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

• Indeed, those who deny, turn [people] away from the path of God, and oppose the Messenger after guidance has become clear to them, will not harm God in the least, 47:32

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَشَآقُّوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًۭٔا

• Indeed, those who deny, turn [people] away from the path of God, then die while they deny [the truth still] — God will never forgive them. 47:34

  إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ مَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌۭ فَلَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ

• It is they who denied and barred you from the inviolable place of prostration, and barred the offering, detained, from reaching its place of delivery. 48:25

  هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ وَٱلْهَدْىَ مَعْكُوفًا أَن يَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّهُۥ

• They made their oaths a shield and turned others away from God's path; theirs is a humiliating punishment. 58:16

  ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةًۭ فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ مُّهِينٌۭ

• They have taken their oaths as a shield and turned [people] away from the way of God. 63:2

  ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةًۭ فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

• And when it is said to them: Come, that the messenger of God may ask forgiveness for you, they turn their heads aside, and you see them withdrawing while they are arrogant. 63:5

  وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوْا۟ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
