This belongs to the poor who are held back in the way of God, unable to travel through the land: the ignorant thinks them rich, because of their restraint; 2:273

لِلْفُقَرَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْبًۭا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَآءَ مِنَ ٱلتَّعَفُّفِ

And if he who owes the debt is foolish, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, let his guardian dictate, then, with equity. 2:282

فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوْ ضَعِيفًا أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلْعَدْلِ

and they said: "We have heard and we have obeyed. 2:285

وَقَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا

Say: "Obey God and the messenger"; 3:32

قُلْ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ

guard yourselves, then, toward God, and obey me. 3:50

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Would they seek then a religion other than God's, while it is toward Him that whoever is in the heavens and the earth renders themselves integral, willingly or unwillingly, 3:83

أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُۥٓ أَسْلَمَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًۭا وَكَرْهًۭا

And the Hajj of the House is a duty toward God for mankind, for whoever has the capacity for it by a [practicable] way; 3:97

وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ حِجُّ ٱلْبَيْتِ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًۭا

O you who have believed! if you obey a group among those to whom the Scripture was given, they will turn you back, after your faith, to denial-disowning. 3:100

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ فَرِيقًۭا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَرُدُّوكُم بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِكُمْ كَٰفِرِينَ

And obey God and the messenger, perhaps benevolence will be shown to you. 3:132

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

O you who have believed! if you obey those who deny-disown, they will make you turn back on your heels, and you will find yourselves losers. 3:149

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَرُدُّوكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَٰسِرِينَ

Those who, having stayed seated, said of their brothers: "Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed." 3:168

ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟

And whoever obeys God and His Messenger, He admits him into gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein he will abide eternally. 4:13

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا

And whoever among you lacks the means to marry believing protected women, [let him marry] then one of your believing young women bound by oath. 4:25

وَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنكُمْ طَوْلًا أَن يَنكِحَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَٰتِكُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ

then, if they obey you, seek no further way against them. 4:34

فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا

And had they said: "We have heard and obeyed", and: "Listen", and: "Look at us", it would have been better for them, and more upright; 4:46

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ وَٱنظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًۭا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ

O you who have believed! obey God, obey the messenger, and those among you who hold authority. 4:59

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ

And We sent no messenger except that he be obeyed, with God's permission. 4:64

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ

And whoever obeys God and the messenger, those will be with those God has blessed, among the prophets, the men of truth, the witnesses, and the righteous. 4:69

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلرَّسُولَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءِ وَٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

Whoever obeys the messenger indeed obeys God, 4:80

مَّن يُطِعِ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ ٱللَّهَ

And they say: "Obedience", 4:81

وَيَقُولُونَ طَاعَةٌۭ

Those are the ones whose refuge will be Jahannam; and what an evil destination! — except the men, women, and children reduced to weakness, who have neither the means to scheme, nor to find a way. 4:98

فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا إِلَّا ٱلْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ ٱلرِّجَالِ وَٱلنِّسَآءِ وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةًۭ وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلًۭا

And you will never be able to be equitable between women, even if you are keen on it; 4:129

وَلَن تَسْتَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَن تَعْدِلُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُمْ

And remember God's blessing upon you, and His engagement, by which He bound you, when you said: "We have heard and we have obeyed." 5:7

وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَٰقَهُ ٱلَّذِى وَاثَقَكُم بِهِۦٓ إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا

But his own Self disposed him to the murder of his brother; he killed him, and thus became among the losers. 5:30

فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

And obey God, and obey the messenger, and beware. 5:92

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَٱحْذَرُوا۟

remember when the disciples said: "O Issa, son of Maryam! can your Guardian send down to us a table from the sky?" 5:112

إِذْ قَالَ ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَٰعِيسَى ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَن يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ

And if their turning away weighs upon you, then, if you have the capacity, seek a tunnel into the earth, or a ladder into the sky, to bring them a sign. 6:35

وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِىَ نَفَقًۭا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًۭا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِـَٔايَةٍۢ

And if you obey most of those on the earth, they will lead you astray from the path of God. 6:116

وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ

and if you obeyed them, you would indeed be among those who associate. 6:121

وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ

and can neither help them, nor help itself? 7:192

وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْرًۭا وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ

And those you invoke besides Him can neither help you, nor help themselves." 7:197

وَٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ

and obey God and His Messenger, if you are believers." 8:1

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

O you who have believed! obey God and His Messenger, 8:20

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ

And obey God and His Messenger, 8:46

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ

And prepare, against them, whatever you can of force and of steeds held ready for battle, 8:60

وَأَعِدُّوا۟ لَهُم مَّا ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍۢ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ ٱلْخَيْلِ

They will swear by God: "If we had been able, we would have gone out with you"; 9:42

وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَوِ ٱسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ

Say: "Spend willingly or reluctantly, it will not be accepted from you, 9:53

قُلْ أَنفِقُوا۟ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًۭا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْ

they enjoin what is recognized and forbid what is disavowed, they maintain the Contact, give the purifying alms, and obey God and His Messenger. 9:71

يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ

Those who criticize the believers who give alms willingly, and mock those who have only their effort to give — God mocks them, 9:79

ٱلَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ ٱلْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ سَخِرَ ٱللَّهُ مِنْهُمْ

and call upon whomever you can, apart from God, if you are truthful." 10:38

وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

Say: "Then bring ten invented sûrahs resembling it, and call upon whomever you can, besides God, if you are truthful." 11:13

قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍۢ مِّثْلِهِۦ مُفْتَرَيَٰتٍۢ وَٱدْعُوا۟ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ

They could neither hear, nor see. 11:20

مَا كَانُوا۟ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يُبْصِرُونَ

I only want reform, as much as I can; 11:88

إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا ٱلْإِصْلَٰحَ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُ

And before God prostrates whoever is in the heavens and on the earth, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows, morning and evening. 13:15

وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًۭا وَكَرْهًۭا وَظِلَٰلُهُم بِٱلْغُدُوِّ وَٱلْءَاصَالِ

And they obey, besides God, what holds for them, from the heavens and the earth, no provision at all, and has no power to do so. 16:73

وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ رِزْقًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

so they cannot find a way. 17:48

فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًۭا

Rouse, by your voice, whomever you can among them; rally against them your cavalry and your infantry; share with them in wealth and children; and make them promises — 17:64

وَٱسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُم بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِم بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ وَٱلْأَوْلَٰدِ وَعِدْهُمْ

and do not obey one whose Core We have made heedless of Our remembrance, who has followed his emotion, and whose affair has [become] excess. 18:28

وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُۥ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُۥ فُرُطًۭا

If you see me as having less wealth and children than you, it may be that my Guardian will grant me better than your garden, and send upon it, from the sky, a reckoned punishment, so that it becomes a slippery ground, or its water sinks away, so that you will never be able to seek it out. 18:41

إِن تَرَنِ أَنَا۠ أَقَلَّ مِنكَ مَالًۭا وَوَلَدًۭا فَعَسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَن يُؤْتِيَنِ خَيْرًۭا مِّن جَنَّتِكَ وَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهَا حُسْبَانًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتُصْبِحَ صَعِيدًۭا زَلَقًا أَوْ يُصْبِحَ مَآؤُهَا غَوْرًۭا فَلَن تَسْتَطِيعَ لَهُۥ طَلَبًۭا

He said: "You will never be able to be patient with me. 18:67

قَالَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًۭا

He said: "Did I not tell you that you would never be able to be patient with me?" 18:72

قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًۭا

He said: "Did I not tell you that you would never be able to be patient with me?" 18:75

قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًۭا

I will tell you the interpretation of what you were not able to bear with patience. 18:78

سَأُنَبِّئُكَ بِتَأْوِيلِ مَا لَمْ تَسْتَطِع عَّلَيْهِ صَبْرًا

That is the interpretation of what you were not able to bear with patience." 18:82

ذَٰلِكَ تَأْوِيلُ مَا لَمْ تَسْطِع عَّلَيْهِ صَبْرًۭا

They were able neither to scale it, nor to pierce it. 18:97

فَمَا ٱسْطَٰعُوٓا۟ أَن يَظْهَرُوهُ وَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ لَهُۥ نَقْبًۭا

And We shall present, that Day, Jahannam to those who deny, in full view — those whose eyes were under a veil, away from My remembrance, and who could not hear at all. 18:101

وَعَرَضْنَا جَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ عَرْضًا ٱلَّذِينَ كَانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ فِى غِطَآءٍ عَن ذِكْرِى وَكَانُوا۟ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَمْعًا

and truly your Guardian is the All-Benevolent: so follow me, and obey my command.» 20:90

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ فَٱتَّبِعُونِى وَأَطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرِى

It [the Hour] will come to them instead, suddenly, and stun them, so that they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be granted any respite. 21:40

بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةًۭ فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ

They cannot help themselves, nor are they granted any aid against Us. 21:43

لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا يُصْحَبُونَ

The court of his people, those who denied and treated the meeting of the hereafter as a lie, and to whom We had given ease in the present life, said: This is nothing but a human being like you, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink; and if you obey a human being like you, you will then indeed be losers. Does he promise you that, once dead and become dust and bones, you will be raised up? Far, far indeed is what you are promised! There is nothing but our present life, we die and we live, and we will not be raised up! He is nothing but a man who has invented a lie against God, and we will not believe him. 23:38

وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَرًۭا مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًۭا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ

And they say: We believe in God and in the messenger, and we obey — then a group among them turns away after that; 24:47

وَيَقُولُونَ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَبِٱلرَّسُولِ وَأَطَعْنَا ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّىٰ فَرِيقٌۭ مِّنْهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ

The only word of the believers, when they are called to God and His messenger so that he may judge between them, is to say: We have heard and we obey. 24:51

إِنَّمَا كَانَ قَوْلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذَا دُعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَن يَقُولُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا

And whoever obeys God and His messenger, fears God and guards himself toward Him — those are the triumphant. 24:52

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَخْشَ ٱللَّهَ وَيَتَّقْهِ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ

a recognized obedience [suffices]. 24:53

طَاعَةٌۭ مَّعْرُوفَةٌ

Say: Obey God and obey the messenger; 24:54

قُلْ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ

And if you obey him, you will be guided. 24:54

وَإِن تُطِيعُوهُ تَهْتَدُوا۟

and obey the messenger, that benevolence may be shown to you. 24:56

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

See how they multiply examples about you: they have thus gone astray and can no longer find a way. 25:9

ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأَمْثَٰلَ فَضَلُّوا۟ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًۭا

They have thus denied you in what you say; they can neither avert [the punishment] nor [give you] help. 25:19

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوكُم بِمَا تَقُولُونَ فَمَا تَسْتَطِيعُونَ صَرْفًۭا وَلَا نَصْرًۭا

So do not obey those who deny, 25:52

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

So guard yourselves before God and obey me. 26:108

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

And do not obey the command of the excessive, who spread corruption on the earth and set nothing right. 26:152

وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ

So guard yourselves before God and obey me. 26:163

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

And it is not the Diverters who descended with it; that does not suit them, and they cannot do it. 26:211

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

but if they force you to associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them; 29:8

وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِى مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۭ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَآ

But if they press you to associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them; 31:15

وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تُشْرِكَ بِى مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۭ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا

and do not obey those who deny nor the hypocrites. 33:1

وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ

and obey God and His messenger. 33:33

وَأَطِعْنَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ

And do not obey those who deny nor the hypocrites, 33:48

وَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ

the day their direction is overturned in the Fire, they will say, "Would that we had obeyed God and obeyed the Messenger!" 33:66

يَوْمَ تُقَلَّبُ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يَقُولُونَ يَٰلَيْتَنَآ أَطَعْنَا ٱللَّهَ وَأَطَعْنَا ٱلرَّسُولَا۠

And they will say, "Our Guardian, we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they led us astray from the way. 33:67

وَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ إِنَّآ أَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَآءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا ٱلسَّبِيلَا۠

And whoever obeys God and His messenger has attained a great triumph. 33:71

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَقَدْ فَازَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا

Then they will not be able to make any bequest, nor will they return to their people. 36:50

فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةًۭ وَلَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

And if We willed, We would freeze them in their places, and they would be able neither to go forward nor to return. 36:67

وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَمَسَخْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ مُضِيًّۭا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ

And they have taken, besides God, deities, hoping to be helped. They cannot help them, though they are, for them, a mobilized army. 36:75

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةًۭ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يُنصَرُونَ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُندٌۭ مُّحْضَرُونَ

the wrongdoers will have neither a close ally nor an intercessor who is heeded. 40:18

مَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٍۢ وَلَا شَفِيعٍۢ يُطَاعُ

Then He turned toward the sky, which was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: "Come, both of you, willingly or unwillingly." 41:11

ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَهِىَ دُخَانٌۭ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ ٱئْتِيَا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًۭا

They said: "We come obediently." 41:11

قَالَتَآ أَتَيْنَا طَآئِعِينَ

He made light of his people, and they obeyed him; 43:54

فَٱسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُۥ فَأَطَاعُوهُ

so be mindful of God, and obey me. 43:63

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Obedience and a recognized word [would be better]. 47:21

طَاعَةٌۭ وَقَوْلٌۭ مَّعْرُوفٌۭ

That is because they have said to those who hate what God has sent down: "We will obey you in part of the matter." 47:26

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُوا۟ مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِى بَعْضِ ٱلْأَمْرِ

O you who believe, obey God and obey the Messenger, and do not invalidate your deeds. 47:33

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَلَا تُبْطِلُوٓا۟ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ

If you obey, God will give you a fine reward. 48:16

فَإِن تُطِيعُوا۟ يُؤْتِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَجْرًا حَسَنًۭا

And whoever obeys God and His messenger, [God] will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow. 48:17

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ

Know that the Messenger of God is among you; were he to obey you in many matters, you would be in great difficulty. 49:7

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ لَوْ يُطِيعُكُمْ فِى كَثِيرٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ لَعَنِتُّمْ

And if you obey God and His messenger, He will not diminish your deeds in anything. 49:14

وَإِن تُطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ لَا يَلِتْكُم مِّنْ أَعْمَٰلِكُمْ شَيْـًٔا

They could neither rise up nor find help. 51:45

فَمَا ٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟ مِن قِيَامٍۢ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُنتَصِرِينَ

O assembly of the Occulted and humans, if you are able to pass beyond the confines of the heavens and the earth, then pass beyond them. 55:33

يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟

And whoever cannot shall feed sixty destitute people. 58:4

فَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًۭا

And obey God and His messenger. 58:13

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ

Have you not seen the hypocrites saying to their brothers who, among the People of the Scripture, deny the truth: If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will never obey anyone against you; and if you are fought, we will surely help you. 59:11

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَئِنْ أُخْرِجْتُمْ لَنَخْرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمْ وَلَا نُطِيعُ فِيكُمْ أَحَدًا أَبَدًۭا وَإِن قُوتِلْتُمْ لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ

And obey God, and obey the messenger. 64:12

وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ

So guard yourselves before God as much as you are able, and listen, and obey, and spend — it will be good for your own Selves. 64:16

فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ وَٱسْمَعُوا۟ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ وَأَنفِقُوا۟ خَيْرًۭا لِّأَنفُسِكُمْ

So do not obey the deniers. 68:8

فَلَا تُطِعِ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

And do not obey every contemptible swearer of oaths, backbiter, spreader of slander, hinderer of good, transgressor, characterized offender, coarse and, moreover, a social parasite — merely because he has wealth and sons. When Our signs are recited to him, he says: 'Legends of the ancients!' 68:15

وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍۢ مَّهِينٍ هَمَّازٍۢ مَّشَّآءٍۭ بِنَمِيمٍۢ مَّنَّاعٍۢ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ عُتُلٍّۭ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ أَن كَانَ ذَا مَالٍۢ وَبَنِينَ إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

On the day when the true state of things is uncovered, and they are called to prostrate, they will not be able, 68:42

يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍۢ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلسُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner: obey God, guard yourselves before Him, and obey me. He will forgive you some of your wrongs and delay you for a specified term. 71:4

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى

So be patient for the judgment of your Guardian, and do not obey among them a transgressor or an ingrate. 76:24

فَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًۭا

So I do not need to swear by the retreating stars, those that run their courses and hide, and by the night when it darkens, and by the dawn when it breathes: indeed, it is the word of a noble messenger, endowed with power, secure with the Lord of the Edifice, obeyed there, trustworthy. 81:21

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍۢ مُّطَاعٍۢ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍۢ

No! Do not obey him, but prostrate and draw near. 96:19

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب
