The lightning almost snatches away their sight. 2:20
يَكَادُ ٱلْبَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ -
They slaughtered her then, after having very nearly not done it. 2:71
فَذَبَحُوهَا وَمَا كَادُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ -
What is with these people that they scarcely understand a discourse? 4:78
فَمَالِ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلْقَوْمِ لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًۭا -
He said: "Son of my mother! the people reduced me to weakness, and almost killed me; do not, then, let the enemies gloat over me, and do not place me with the unjust people." 7:150
قَالَ ٱبْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱسْتَضْعَفُونِى وَكَادُوا۟ يَقْتُلُونَنِى فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِىَ ٱلْأَعْدَآءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِى مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ -
God has indeed turned with clemency toward the Prophet, the emigrants, and the Helpers [those who took in the refugees], who followed him in the hour of hardship, after the cores of a group among them had almost wavered; then He turned toward them with clemency — He is, toward them, full of bonté, full of benevolence — and [He turned] toward the three who had stayed behind, 9:118
لَّقَد تَّابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ فِى سَاعَةِ ٱلْعُسْرَةِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا كَادَ يَزِيغُ قُلُوبُ فَرِيقٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّهُۥ بِهِمْ رَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ وَعَلَى ٱلثَّلَٰثَةِ ٱلَّذِينَ خُلِّفُوا۟ -
and every stubborn tyrant was disappointed; behind him, Jahannam, and he will be given to drink there a purulent water, which he will gulp down without almost being able to swallow it; death will come to him from every side without his dying; and behind that, an implacable punishment. 14:17
وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍۢ مِّن وَرَآئِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ وَيُسْقَىٰ مِن مَّآءٍۢ صَدِيدٍۢ يَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُۥ وَيَأْتِيهِ ٱلْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍۢ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٍۢ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِۦ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٌۭ -
They have indeed nearly tried you, [to turn you away] from what We revealed to you, so that you might invent against Us something else; 17:73
وَإِن كَادُوا۟ لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِىَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَهُۥ -
And had We not made you firm, you would well nigh have inclined toward them, a little. 17:74
وَلَوْلَآ أَن ثَبَّتْنَٰكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْـًۭٔا قَلِيلًا -
They have indeed nearly shaken you out of this land, to drive you out of it — 17:76
وَإِن كَادُوا۟ لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُخْرِجُوكَ مِنْهَا -
Then he followed a link, until, having reached [a place] between the two barriers, he found, on the near side of them, a people who could hardly understand any speech. 18:93
ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَ سَبَبًا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ بَيْنَ ٱلسَّدَّيْنِ وَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمَا قَوْمًۭا لَّا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ قَوْلًۭا -
You have put forth a monstrous thing! The heavens nearly rupture from it, the earth splits open, and the mountains collapse in ruin — that they have ascribed a child to the All-Benevolent. 19:91
لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِدًّۭا تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلْجِبَالُ هَدًّا أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدًۭا -
The Hour is coming — I keep it almost hidden — so that every Self may be repaid for what it has striven toward. 20:15
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ -
And when Our clear signs are recited to them, you recognize on the faces of those who deny the disavowal; they nearly assault those who recite Our signs to them. 22:72
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍۢ تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلْمُنكَرَ يَكَادُونَ يَسْطُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا -
The glass is like a brilliant star, kindled from a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow forth even without fire touching it. 24:35
ٱلزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوْكَبٌۭ دُرِّىٌّۭ يُوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٍۢ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍۢ زَيْتُونَةٍۢ لَّا شَرْقِيَّةٍۢ وَلَا غَرْبِيَّةٍۢ يَكَادُ زَيْتُهَا يُضِىٓءُ وَلَوْ لَمْ تَمْسَسْهُ نَارٌۭ -
When he puts out his hand, he can hardly see it. 24:40
إِذَآ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُۥ لَمْ يَكَدْ يَرَىٰهَا -
the flash of its lightning almost takes away the sight. 24:43
يَكَادُ سَنَا بَرْقِهِۦ يَذْهَبُ بِٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ -
Is this the one God has sent as a messenger? He nearly led us astray from our deities, had we not remained firmly attached to them! 25:42
أَهَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى بَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ رَسُولًا إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لَوْلَآ أَن صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا -
The Conscience of Moussa's mother became empty; she nearly revealed it, had We not steadied her Core, so that she would be among those who believe. 28:10
وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَٰرِغًا إِن كَادَتْ لَتُبْدِى بِهِۦ لَوْلَآ أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ -
He says: "By God, you nearly caused my ruin; and were it not for my Guardian's favor, I would have been among those brought forth [for punishment]. 37:57
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ -
The heavens are about to be rent asunder from above them, 42:5
تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِن فَوْقِهِنَّ -
Am I not better than this one, who is contemptible and can hardly express himself clearly? 43:52
أَمْ أَنَا۠ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ مَهِينٌۭ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ -
When they are thrown into it, they will hear it roaring as it boils, almost bursting with fury. 67:8
إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًۭا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ تَكَادُ تَمَيَّزُ مِنَ ٱلْغَيْظِ -
Those who deny would almost strike you down with their glances when they hear the Reminder, and they say: 'He is certainly insane.' 68:51
وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَٰرِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا۟ ٱلذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجْنُونٌۭ -
And that when the obedient ones one of God stood up calling upon Him, they almost crowded him in dense multitude. 72:19
وَأَنَّهُۥ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا۟ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَدًۭا
