And among them, there are people without a prior Scripture, who know the Scripture only through vain wishes, 2:78
وَمِنْهُمْ أُمِّيُّونَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ إِلَّآ أَمَانِىَّ -
Say: "If the last abode, with God, is reserved exclusively for you, to the exclusion of mankind, wish, then, for death, if you are truthful." 2:94
قُلْ إِن كَانَتْ لَكُمُ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَالِصَةًۭ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ -
But they will never wish for it, for what their hands have prepared. 2:95
وَلَن يَتَمَنَّوْهُ أَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ -
Those are their vain wishes. 2:111
تِلْكَ أَمَانِيُّهُمْ -
You indeed desired death before meeting it; you have now seen it, and you were looking on. 3:143
وَلَقَدْ كُنتُمْ تَمَنَّوْنَ ٱلْمَوْتَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَلْقَوْهُ فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَنظُرُونَ -
And do not covet that by which God has favored some of you above others. 4:32
وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا۟ مَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ -
who said: "I will certainly take, among Your obedient ones, a determined portion; I will certainly lead them astray, I will certainly give them vain hopes, I will certainly order them to slit the ears of cattle, and I will certainly order them to alter God's creation." 4:119
وَقَالَ لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ نَصِيبًۭا مَّفْرُوضًۭا وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ ءَاذَانَ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ وَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ ٱللَّهِ -
He makes them promises and gives them vain hopes, 4:120
يَعِدُهُمْ وَيُمَنِّيهِمْ -
It does not depend on your wishes, nor on the wishes of the people of the Scripture. 4:123
لَّيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَآ أَمَانِىِّ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ -
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he had a wish, the Diverter would insert something into it. God then transcribes what the Diverter inserts, and He affirms His signs — God is all-knowing, wise — so that this transcription may be a trial for those in whose Cores is a sickness and whose Cores are hardened. 22:53
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍۢ وَلَا نَبِىٍّ إِلَّآ إِذَا تَمَنَّىٰٓ أَلْقَى ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ فِىٓ أُمْنِيَّتِهِۦ فَيَنسَخُ ٱللَّهُ مَا يُلْقِى ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ ثُمَّ يُحْكِمُ ٱللَّهُ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۭ لِّيَجْعَلَ مَا يُلْقِى ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ وَٱلْقَاسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ -
Those who, the day before, had envied his position began to say: "Ah! So it is God who spreads out provision to whom He wills among His obedient ones, and restricts it too! 28:82
وَأَصْبَحَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَمَنَّوْا۟ مَكَانَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيْكَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقْدِرُ -
Or does the human being get whatever he wishes? 53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ -
and that He created the two mates, the male and the female, from a drop of fluid when it is deposited, 53:46
وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ -
Have you considered that which you emit? Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator? 56:59
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ -
They will say: "Yes, but you tempted yourselves, and awaited, and doubted, and false hopes deceived you until the command of God came, and the deceiver deceived you concerning God." 57:14
قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنتُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَٱرْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ ٱلْأَمَانِىُّ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْغَرُورُ -
Say: O you, the Reoriented! if you claim that you are the allies of God, excluding other people, then wish for death, if you are truthful. 62:6
قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوٓا۟ إِن زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ لِلَّهِ مِن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ -
But they will never wish for it, because of what their hands have sent forth. 62:7
وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓ أَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ -
Was he not a drop of ejected semen? Then he was a clinging clot; then He created and proportioned him, and made of him two mates, the male and the female. 75:39
أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةًۭ مِّن مَّنِىٍّۢ يُمْنَىٰ ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةًۭ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ
