We made of it an exemplary deterrent for what preceded it and what followed it, and an admonition for those who guard themselves.

They said: "Invoke your Guardian for us, that He make clear to us what it is."

of middle age between the two;

They said: "Invoke your Guardian for us, that He make clear to us her color."

They said: "Invoke your Guardian for us, that He make clear to us what it is: the cows all resemble one another to us, and we will surely, if God wills, be among those who let themselves be guided."

And We gave Issa, son of Maryam, the clear proofs, and We fortified him with the sacred Influx.

Moussa indeed came to you with the clear proofs; then you took the calf, after him, and you were wrongdoers.

Say: "Whoever is an enemy of Jibril should know that it is he who brought it down upon your core, with God's permission, confirming what precedes it, and as a guidance and good tidings for the believers."

We have indeed sent down to you clear signs,

They learned from them, then, that by which they separate a man from his spouse;

out of envy, from themselves, after the truth has become clear to them.

God will judge between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning what they used to differ over.

We have made the signs clear for a people who have certainty.

Say: "We believe in God, in what has been sent down to us, in what was sent down to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq, Yaacoub, and the bloodlines, and in what was given to Moussa and Issa, and in what was given to the informants, from their Guardian; we make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we are true."

Indeed, those who withhold what We have sent down of clear proofs and guidance, after We have made it clear to mankind in the Scripture — those are the ones God curses, and whom those who curse, curse,

except those who turn back, become sound, and make clear: those are the ones toward whom I turn with clemency; I am the Ever-Accepter of repentance, Benevolent.

There are surely, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, in the alternation of night and day, in the vessel that sails at sea laden with what benefits mankind, in the water that God sends down from the sky and by which He brings the earth back to life after its death, spreading in it every kind of living being, in the diversity of the winds, and in the cloud subjected between the sky and the earth — signs for a people who reason.

for he is for you a manifest enemy.

But whoever fears, on the part of a testator, a partiality or a transgression, and reconciles them, no transgression upon him;

The month of refreshment, that in which this Recitation was sent down, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of guidance and the Discernment.

And eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinguishable to you from the black thread of dawn,

Thus does God make His signs clear for mankind, perhaps they will guard themselves.

And do not devour your goods among yourselves through falsehood, and do not offer them to judges to devour, through transgression, a fraction of the goods of mankind, while you know.

for he is for you a manifest enemy.

And if you falter after the clear proofs have come to you, know then that God is All-Powerful, Wise.

Ask the Sons of Israel how many clear signs We gave them.

Mankind formed a single community; God then raised up the informants, bearers of good tidings and warners, and sent down with them the Scripture, in truth, so that it might judge between men what they differed over.

after the clear proofs had come to them, out of iniquity among themselves.

Thus does God make the signs clear to you, perhaps you will reflect on the present life and on the last life.

and He makes His signs clear for mankind, perhaps they will remember.

to vouch that you are virtuous, that you guard yourselves, and that you reconcile men.

And those are the limits of God, which He makes clear for a people who know.

And when you repudiate women, and they reach their term, do not put obstacles to their marrying their spouses, once there is mutual satisfaction between them according to what is recognized.

And do not forget the favor between you,

Thus does God make His signs clear to you, perhaps you will reason.

And We gave Issa, son of Maryam, the clear proofs, and We fortified him with the sacred Influx.

And had God willed, those who came after them would not have fought one another, after the clear proofs had come to them;

He knows what is before them and what is behind them,

rectitude has become distinct from errancy.

When this had become clear to him, he said: "I know that God is capable of all things."

Thus does God make the signs clear to you, perhaps you will reflect.

And let a scribe write it between you with justice,

That is more equitable with God, more upright for testimony, and closer to not doubting — except if it is an immediate trade that you conduct among yourselves: no blame then upon you for not writing it down.

making no distinction between any of His messengers;

the Living, the Self-Subsisting. He sent down upon you the Scripture, in truth, confirming what precedes it,

out of iniquity among themselves.

Have you not seen those to whom a portion of the Scripture was given, called to the Scripture of God so that it may judge between them, then a fraction of them turns its back, turning away?

and what it has done of evil, it would wish there were between that and itself a distant span.

And confirming what, of the Tawrah, precedes me, and to permit you a part of what was prohibited to you.

Then to Me will be your return, and I will judge between you concerning what you used to differ over.

Say: "O people of the Scripture! Come to an equitable word between us and you: that we obey none but God, that we associate nothing with Him, and that none of us take others as masters besides God."

Say: "We believe in God, in what has been sent down to us, in what was sent down to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq, Yaacoub, and the bloodlines, and in what was given to Moussa, to Issa, and to the informants, from their Guardian; we make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we are true."

How would God guide a people who disowned after having believed, and after having testified that the messenger is true, when the clear proofs had come to them?

The first House set down for mankind is surely that at the place of the throng, blessed and a guidance for all beings; in it are clear signs.

And remember God's blessing upon you, when you were enemies, and He reconciled your cores, so that you became, by His blessing, brothers;

Thus does God make His signs clear to you, perhaps you will let yourselves be guided.

And do not be like those who divided themselves and diverged after the clear proofs had come to them.

We have already made the signs clear to you, if you reason.

This is a clear exposition for mankind, a guidance and an admonition for those who guard themselves.

Thus do the days go: We make them pass from one to another among mankind,

God has indeed graced the believers, by raising up among them a messenger, from among themselves, who recites His signs to them, purifies them, and teaches them the Scripture and the wisdom, though before they were surely in manifest error.

say: "Messengers before me came to you with clear proofs, and with what you said; why then did you kill them, if you are veracious?"

If they deny you, messengers have already been denied before you, who had come with clear proofs, the Formularies, and the illuminating Scripture.

And when God took the solemn engagement of those to whom the Scripture was given: "You will surely make it clear to mankind, and you will not withhold it"; but they cast it behind their backs, and bought with it a paltry price.

and do not put obstacles before them so as to carry off part of what you gave them, unless they commit a manifest indecency.

Would you take it back through slander and manifest transgression?

and to unite two sisters, except what is already bygone,

God wants to make things clear to you, to guide you according to the norms of those who preceded you, and to turn toward you with clemency.

O you who have believed! Do not devour your goods among yourselves through falsehood,

And if you fear a rupture between the two, raise up then an arbiter from his family, and an arbiter from her family; if they both want reconciliation, God will bring them into accord;

Look how they invent the lie against God: that suffices as a manifest transgression.

God orders you to restore trusts to their rightful owners, and, when you judge between men, to judge with justice.

But no, by your Guardian! They will not believe until they have taken you as judge of their controversies, then found within themselves no discomfort over what you have decided, and adhered to it with complete integrity.

But if a favor from God betides you, he will surely say, as if there had been no affection between you and him: "Would that I had been with them, I would then have attained an immense triumph!"

If they turn their backs, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take, among them, neither ally nor helper — except those who join a people between whom and you there is a solemn engagement, or who come to you

And those are the ones against whom We have appointed for you manifest authority.

And if he belonged to a people between whom and you there is a solemn engagement, then a compensation delivered to his family, and restoring the independence of a believing person bound by a debt.

O you who have believed! When you travel in the way of God, distinguish clearly,

So distinguish clearly,

for those who disown are, for you, a manifest enemy.

We have sent down to you the Scripture in truth, so that you may judge between men according to what God has shown you.

And whoever acquires a fault or a transgression, then accuses one who is quit of it, makes himself the bearer of a slander and a manifest transgression.

There is no good in most of their secret talks, except for one who orders an act of charity, or what is recognized, or a reconciliation between men.

And whoever sets himself in breach against the messenger, after guidance has become clear to him, and follows a way other than that of the believers, We will leave him to what he has turned to, and We will burn him in Jahannam.

And whoever takes the Diverter as an ally, besides God, has suffered a manifest loss.

And if a woman fears from her husband persistent hostility or a turning away, no blame upon them to reconcile through an agreement;

And you will never be able to be just between women, even if you are keen on it;

God will judge between you, on the Day of Appearance;

And when they rise for the Contact, they rise lazily, acting out of ostentation before men, and remember God only a little, wavering between the two, neither on one side nor the other.

Would you appoint for God manifest authority against you?

Those who disown God and His messengers, and want to separate God from His messengers, saying: "We believe in part, and we disown part", wanting to carve out a way between the two — those are the true disowners.

And those who have believed in God and His messengers, and have made no distinction between any of them, to those He will soon give their rewards.

Then they took the calf, after the clear proofs had come to them; but We overlooked that,

and We gave Moussa manifest authority.

O mankind! A demonstration has come to you from your Guardian, and We have sent down to you a manifest light.

God explains this to you, so that you do not go astray;

And among those who said: "We are indeed the Helpers", We took their solemn engagement, but they forgot a share of what they had been reminded of; We then unleashed among them enmity and hatred, until the Day of Appearance;

O people of the Scripture! Our messenger has come to you, making clear to you much of what you were hiding of the Scripture, and overlooking much.

A light has come to you from God, as well as a clear Scripture, by which God guides whoever follows His good pleasure toward the ways of peace,

And to God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and of what is between them.

O people of the Scripture! Our messenger has indeed come to you, making clear to you after a break in messengers, lest you say: "No bearer of good tidings nor warner has come to us" — a bearer of good tidings and a warner has thus indeed come to you.

so separate us from the people of the oversteppers."

Our messengers indeed came to them with clear proofs; then many of them, after that, are surely excessive on the earth.

if they come to you, judge between them, then, or turn away from them;

And if you judge, judge then between them with equity,

And We made Issa, son of Maryam, follow in their footsteps, confirming what, of the Tawrah, preceded him,

and We gave him the Injil, wherein is guidance and light, confirming what, of the Tawrah, preceded him, and a guidance and an admonition for those who guard themselves.

And We have sent down to you the Scripture, in truth, confirming what, of the Scripture, preceded it, and prevailing over it.

Judge, then, between them according to what God has sent down,

And: judge between them according to what God has sent down,

And We have cast among them enmity and hatred, until the Day of Appearance.

Look how We detail the signs to them, then look how they are turned away!

Thus does God make His signs clear to you, perhaps you will be grateful.

The Diverter wants only to cast, among you, by wine and games of chance, enmity and hatred, and to bar you from the remembrance of God and from the Contact.

But if you turn your backs, know then that only the clear transmission is incumbent upon Our messenger.

O you who have believed! Testimony between you, when death presents itself to one of you, at the time of the testament: two just ones among you, or two others, outside your circle, if you travel through the land and the calamity of death strikes you.

and when I restrained from you the Sons of Israel, when you came to them with clear proofs, and those among them who disowned said: 'This is nothing but a manifest illusion.'"

And had We sent down upon you a writing on parchment, and they had touched it with their hands, those who disown would certainly have said: "This is nothing but a manifest illusion."

and that is the manifest triumph.

witness between me and you.

And thus have We tried some of them by others, that they might say: "Are these the ones whom God has graced among us?"

Thus do We detail the signs, so that the way of the severed may become clear.

Say: "I indeed rely on clear evidence from my Guardian, and you have denied it.

Say: "If I held what you seek to hasten, the matter would already have been decided between me and you."

No leaf tumbles but He knows it; no grain, in the darknesses of the earth, nothing moist or dry, that is not in an explicit register.

I see you indeed, you and your people, in manifest error."

And here is a Scripture We have sent down, blessed, confirming what precedes it, so that you may warn the metropolis of cities and those around it.

The bonds between you are indeed cut, and what you claimed has strayed away from you.

And thus do We diversify the signs; and so that they say: "You have studied", and so that We may make it clear for a people who know.

for he is for you a manifest enemy.

A clear proof has thus come to you from your Guardian, as well as a guidance and a benevolence.

He said: "Since You have let me err, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path, then I will surely come at them, from before them and from behind them, from their right and from their left,

And their Guardian called out to them: "Did I not forbid you that tree, and did I not tell you that the Diverter is, for you two, a manifest enemy?"

Then a herald will proclaim among them: "The curse of God is upon the wrongdoers, who bar from the way of God, seeking to make it crooked, and who disown the last life."

And between the two, a veil.

It is He who sends the winds, as bearers of good tidings, before His benevolence,

The court of his people said: "We see you surely in manifest error."

A clear proof has come to you from your Guardian:

And if a group among you has believed in what I was sent with, and another group has not believed, be patient then until God judges between us:

Our Guardian, open between us and our people, in truth:

Their messengers had indeed come to them with clear proofs, but they were not disposed to believe what they had first denied.

I have come to you with a clear proof from your Guardian;

He then threw down his staff, and behold, it was a manifest serpent; and he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to those who looked.

He is nothing but a manifest warner.

So guard yourselves toward God, and make sound what is between you,

As when your Guardian brought you out of your house in truth, while a fraction of believers were surely averse to it, arguing with you about the truth once it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death, while they looked on.

and know that God interposes between man and his core, and that it is to Him that you will be gathered.

but so that God might bring to its term a matter that was a thing done, so that whoever was to be annihilated might be annihilated upon clear evidence, and whoever was to live might live upon clear evidence.

It is He who fortified you with His help and with the believers, and who reconciled their cores.

Had you spent all that is on the earth, you would not have reconciled their cores,

but it is God who reconciled them,

And if they ask you for help in the name of the Law, help is incumbent upon you, except against a people between whom and you there is a solemn engagement.

May God overlook it for you! Why did you give them permission, before those who spoke truly became clear to you, and before you knew the liars?

Their messengers had come to them with clear proofs.

And those who took a place of prostration to harm, for disowning, for division among the believers, and as a lookout post for one who, previously, had made war on God and His messenger —

It was not for the Informant, nor for those who believed, to ask forgiveness for the associators, even if they were close relatives, once it had become clear to them that they were the companions of the Blaze.

but when it became clear to him that he was an enemy of God, he declared himself quit of him.

It was not for God to lead a people astray after having guided them, without first having made clear to them what they must guard themselves against,

Those who disown say: "This is surely a manifest illusion."

We indeed annihilated the generations before you as soon as they did wrong, even though their messengers had come to them with clear proofs;

And when Our signs are recited to them, wholly explicit, those who do not hope for Our meeting say: "Bring a Recitation other than this one, or change it."

And had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian, it would already have been decided between them concerning what they differ over.

And on the day when We gather them all together, then say to those who associated: "Stay in your place, you and your associates" — then We will separate them from one another,

God suffices as a witness between us and you: we were surely heedless of your obedience.

rather, it confirms what precedes it, and it details the Code — with no doubt possible — from the Guardian of all beings.

And on the day He gathers them, as if they had remained but an hour of the day, they will recognize one another.

And when their messenger came, it was decided between them with equity, and they were not wronged.

And they will keep their regret secret upon seeing the punishment, and it will be decided between them with equity, and they will not be wronged.

nothing smaller or greater that is not in an explicit register.

Then, after him, We raised up messengers to their peoples; they brought them clear proofs, but they were not disposed to believe what they had first denied.

When the truth came to them from Us, they said: "This is surely a manifest illusion."

Your Guardian will indeed decide between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning what they used to differ over.

everything is in an explicit register.

And if you say: "You will be raised after death," those who disown will surely say: "This is nothing but a manifest illusion."

Is he who relies on a clear proof from his Guardian, with a witness from Him coming in his wake?

"I am for you a clear warner:

He said: "O my people, do you see? If I rely on a clear proof from my Guardian, and He has granted me a benevolence from Him, and it has become obscured for you, shall we impose it upon you while you are averse to it?

And the wave intervened between them, and he was among the drowned.

They said: "O Hud, you have not brought us a clear proof, and we will not leave our deities on your saying, and we do not give you credit.

He said: "O my people, do you see? If I rely on a clear proof from my Guardian, and He has granted me, from Him, a benevolence, who then would help me against God if I disobeyed Him?

He said: "O my people, do you see? If I rely on a clear proof from my Guardian, and He has provided me, from Him, with a fine provision...

We have indeed sent Moussa with Our signs and manifest authority, to Fir'awn and his court; but they followed the command of Fir'awn,

and had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian, it would have been decided between them;

These are the signs of the explicit Scripture.

for the Diverter is, to the human being, a manifest enemy.

our father is surely in manifest error.

we surely see her in manifest error."

And He has done good to me, when He brought me out of prison, and brought you from the countryside, after the Diverter had sown discord between me and my brothers.

but the confirmation of what precedes it, the detail of everything, and a guidance and a benevolence for a people who believe.

Each one has, before him and behind him, relaying watchers, preserving him by God's command.

Say: "God suffices as witness between me and you, and whoever holds the knowledge of the Scripture."

We have sent no messenger except in the tongue of his people, so that he might make clear to them;

Their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they put their hands to their mouths and said: "We disown that with which you have been sent, and we are surely in a troubling doubt about what you call us to."

They said: "You are only humans like us; you want to bar us from what our ancestors obeyed. So bring us a manifest authority."

And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We dealt with them, and We multiplied the examples for you."

These are the signs of the Scripture, and of a clear Recitation.

We have indeed placed in the sky constellations, and adorned them for those who look, and preserved them from every banished Diverter — except one who steals a furtive hearing, and is then pursued by a manifest blazing projectile.

and both are surely upon a manifest reference.

We created the heavens, the earth, and what is between them, only in truth.

And say: "I am, indeed, the clear warner" — as We sent it down upon those who divided it among themselves, those who made of this Recitation disparate fragments.

He created the human being from a drop, and behold, he is a declared quarreler.

Is anything then incumbent upon the messengers, except the clear transmission?

But yes! It is a promise incumbent upon Him, in truth — but most men do not know — so that He may make clear to them that on which they differ, and so that those who disown may know that they were liars.

And We sent, before you, none but men to whom We revealed: so ask the keepers of the Reminder, if you do not know — with the clear proofs and the Formularies.

And We have sent down to you the Reminder, so that you may make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them, and perhaps they will reflect.

And We have sent down to you the Scripture only so that you may make clear to them that on which they differed, and as guidance and benevolence for a people who believe.

We provide you drink from what is in their bellies, between chyme and blood, a refined milk, pleasant to drink for those who drink it; and from the fruits of palms and vines, you take an intoxicating drink and a fine provision.

If they turn their backs, only the clear transmission is incumbent upon you.

And We have sent down to you the Scripture, making everything clear, and as guidance, benevolence, and good tidings for those who are true to God alone.

And do not be like her who unravels her thread, after having firmly spun it, reducing it to fibers; you take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, on the pretext that one community is more numerous than another:

and He will surely make clear to you, on the Day of Appearance, that on which you differed.

And do not take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, or a foot would slip after having been firm, and you would taste evil for having barred from God's way; and you would have an immense punishment.

Yet the tongue of the one to whom they allude is garbled, whereas this tongue is flawless, explicit.

your Guardian will surely judge between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning that in which they differed.

And when you read the Recitation, We place between you and those who do not believe in the last life a hidden veil,

the Diverter sows discord among them;

for the Diverter is, to the human being, a manifest enemy.

Say: "God suffices as witness between me and you,

We have indeed given Moussa nine clear signs:

And do not speak too loudly in your Contact, nor say it in an undertone either: seek, between the two, a way.

Here is our people, who have taken deities besides Him: why do they not produce, concerning them, a clear authority?

Thus We raised them up, so that they might question one another.

when they disputed among themselves over their matter and said: "Build over them a structure" —

And multiply for them an example: two men; for one of them We made two gardens of vines, which We surrounded with palm trees, and between which We placed cultivated fields.

And the Day He says: "Call upon My associates whom you used to claim," they will call upon them, but they will not respond to them; and We shall place between them a place of disaster.

When they had reached the meeting-place of the two seas, they forgot their fish, which then took its way into the sea, like a mirage vanishing.

He said: "This is the parting between you and me;

Then he followed a link, until, having reached the space between the two barriers, he found, on the near side of them, a people who could hardly understand any saying.

They said: "O Holder of the Two Acolytes, Yajuj and Majuj are sowing corruption on the earth; shall we grant you a tribute, on condition that you place between us and them a barrier?"

so help me with strength, and I will set up between you and them a rampart.

Then, when he had leveled the space between the two sides, he said: "Blow!"

But the parties diverged among themselves.

Yet the wrongdoers, today, are in manifest error.

To Him belongs what is before us, what is behind us, and what is between the two.

The Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them: so obey Him, and be constant in obeying Him.

And when Our clear signs are recited to them, those who disown say to those who believe: "Which of the two fractions has the better standing and the more beautiful circle?"

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens, whatever is on the earth, whatever is between them, and whatever is beneath the moist soil.

So set between us and you an appointment, which neither we nor you shall fail, at a fair place."

So they disputed among themselves over their matter and kept their secret talk hidden.

They said: "We shall never prefer you over the clear proofs that have come to us, nor over the One who originated us.

He said: "Son of my mother, do not seize me by the beard nor by the head, for I dreaded you would say: 'You have divided the Sons of Israel, and you did not heed my saying.'"

The day the Horn is blown, We shall gather the severed, that day, livid, talking among themselves in undertones: "You remained no more than ten."

He knows what is before them and what is behind them, while they do not encompass Him in their knowledge.

Has there not come to them the clear proof of what is in the former chronicles?

We did not create the heaven and the earth, and what is between them, in play.

He knows what is before them and what is behind them,

He said: "You and your ancestors were indeed in manifest error."

But they split their affair among themselves;

O mankind, if you are in doubt about the Raising, then indeed We created you from earth, then from a drop, then from a clinging form, then from an embryo, formed and unformed, that We may make things clear to you.

That is the manifest loss.

Thus have We sent it down as clear signs,

Those who have believed, the Reoriented, the Aspirants, the Helpers, the Magians, and those who associate with God — God will indeed separate between them on the Day of Appearance;

Say, "O mankind, I am only a clear warner to you."

He will judge between them.

God will judge between you on the Day of Appearance concerning that in which you used to differ."

And when Our clear signs are recited to them, you recognize disavowal on the faces of those who disown; they nearly assault those who recite Our signs to them.

He knows what is before them and what is behind them.

Then We sent Moussa and his brother Harun, with Our signs and a manifest authority, to Fir'awn and his court; but they grew proud and were a haughty people,

But they split their affair among themselves into pieces,

Then, when the Horn is blown, there will be no ties of lineage between them that day, and they will not question one another.

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. This is a surah which We have sent down and which We have made obligatory, and in which We have sent down clear signs, perhaps you will remember.

If only, upon hearing it, the believing men and women had presumed good of themselves, and had said: "This is a manifest distortion!"

And God makes the signs clear to you,

and they will know that God is the manifest Truth.

We have indeed sent down to you clear signs, an example from those who passed before you, and an admonition for those who guard themselves.

Have you not seen that God makes the clouds glide, then joins them together, then makes them into a mass, and you see the shower come out from within it?

We have indeed sent down clear signs,

And when they are called to God and His messenger so that he may judge between them, there is a fraction among them that turns away.

The only saying of the believers, when they are called to God and His messenger so that he may judge between them, is to say: "We have heard and we have deferred."

And only the clear transmission is incumbent upon the messenger."

Thus does God make the signs clear to you,

Thus does God make His signs clear to you,

Thus does God make the signs clear to you, perhaps you will reason.

Do not consider the call of the messenger among yourselves as the call of one of you to another.

And the Aad, and the Thamud, and the companions of ar-Rass, and many generations between those times,

It is He who has sent the winds, as bearers of good tidings, before His benevolence,

We indeed diversified it among them so that they might remember; but most men refused everything except disowning.

And He placed between them a barrier and a boundary that cannot be crossed.

He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice —

and those who, when they spend, neither waste nor withhold excessively, standing between the two with just measure,

These are the signs of the explicit Scripture.

He said: "The Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you are of those who know with certainty."

He said: "The Guardian of the east and the west and what is between them, if you would reason."

He said: "Even if I brought you something explicit?"

He then threw down his staff, and behold, it was a manifest serpent; and he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to those who looked.

They will say, quarreling there: "By God, we were surely in manifest error, when we set you on the same level as the Guardian of all beings.

And I am not one to chase away the believers; I am only an explicit warner."

He said: "My Guardian, my people have indeed denied me. Open then between me and them an opening, and save me and those of the believers who are with me."

The trustworthy Influx came down with it, upon your core, so that you may be among the warners, in a flawless, explicit tongue.

These are the signs of the Recitation and an explicit Scripture,

When Our signs came to them, plainly visible, they said: "This is a manifest illusion."

this is surely the explicit favor."

I will surely punish her with a severe punishment, or I will slaughter her, unless she brings me a manifest authority."

Is it not He who made the earth a stable place, placed rivers within it, placed for it firm anchors, and set between the two seas a partition?

Is it not He who guides you in the darknesses of land and sea, and who sends the winds, as bearers of good tidings, before His benevolence?

And there is nothing, in the sky and the earth, that escapes the senses without being in an explicit register.

Your Guardian indeed decides between them by His judgment,

for you are upon the explicit truth.

These are the signs of the explicit Scripture.

he is indeed an enemy, a manifest misleader."

Moussa said to him: "You are surely a clearly errant man."

He said: "That is understood between you and me;

When Moussa brought them Our clear signs, they said: "This is nothing but an invented illusion; we never heard of this among our earliest forefathers."

Say: "My Guardian knows best who comes with guidance and who is in manifest error."

and only the clear transmission is incumbent upon the messenger."

And he said: "You have taken idols, besides God, only out of mutual affection among yourselves in the present life;

We indeed left of it a clear sign, for a people who reason.

And the Aad and the Thamud — this has become clear to you through their dwellings; the Diverter had embellished their works for them, and thus barred them from the way, though they had clear sight.

Moussa had indeed come to them with clear proofs, but they grew proud in the land, unable to outrun Us.

Rather, it is clear signs in the chests of those to whom knowledge has been given;

Say: "The signs are only with God, and I am only a clear warner."

Say: "God suffices as a witness between me and you;

God did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, except in truth and for an appointed term;

and populated it more than they have populated it; and their messengers came to them with clear proofs,

And among His signs is that He created for you, from yourselves, spouses, so that you might find rest in them, and He placed between you affection and benevolence;

And We certainly sent, before you, messengers to their people; they came to them with clear proofs, and We took vengeance upon those who cut themselves off;

The wrongdoers are rather in manifest error.

God is He who created the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice;

Your Guardian is He who will separate between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning that in which they differed.

O women of the Informant, whoever among you commits a manifest indecency, We would double the punishment for her, twice over;

And whoever disobeys God and His messenger has strayed into manifest error.

And those who trouble believing men and believing women without their having committed anything make themselves the bearers of a slander and a manifest transgression.

nor anything smaller or greater than that, without it being in an explicit register — so that He may recompense those who believed and did sound deeds."

Have they not looked at what is before them and what is behind them, of the sky and the earth?

And among the Occulted were some who worked before him, by the permission of his Guardian;

and when he fell, it became clear to the Occulted that, had they known what escapes the senses, they would not have remained in the degrading punishment.

And We had placed between them and the cities that We had blessed, cities lying uncovered, and We had measured the journey between them:

But they said, "Our Guardian, lengthen the distances between our journeys" — and they wronged themselves; so We made them into topics of discourse, and We disintegrated them utterly.

And surely, either we or you are upon guidance, or in manifest error."

Say, "Our Guardian will bring us together, then He will open between us in truth,

And those who disown have said, "We will never believe in this Recitation, nor in what came before it."

And when Our clear signs are recited to them, they say, "This is nothing but a man who wants to bar you from what your ancestors used to obey"; and they say, "This is nothing but an invented distortion."

And those who disown say of the truth when it comes to them, "This is nothing but a manifest illusion."

he is only a warner for you, before a severe punishment."

And something will come between them and what they desire, just as was done before to those of their sort: they were indeed in a troubling doubt.

And if they deny you, those before them already denied: their messengers came to them with clear proofs, the Formularies, and the illuminating Scripture; then I seized those who disowned.

And what We have revealed to you of the Scripture is the truth, confirming what came before it.

Or have We given them a scripture, so that they rely on clear proofs from it?"

And We have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them over, so they do not see clearly.

And everything, We have enumerated it in a clear reference.

They said: "Our Guardian knows that we are surely sent to you; and only the clear transmission is incumbent upon us."

I would then surely be in manifest error.

And when it is said to them: "Guard yourselves against what is before you and what is behind you, perhaps benevolence will be shown to you,"

And when it is said to them: "Spend from what God has provided you," those who disown say to those who have believed: "Shall we feed one whom God, if He willed, would feed Himself? You are only in manifest error."

Did I not bind you by a pact, O sons of Adam, not to obey the Diverter — for he is for you a manifest enemy — and to obey Me?

It is nothing but a Reminder and a clear Recitation, so that you may warn whoever is alive, and so that the saying may prove true against those who disown.

Does the human being not see that We created him from a drop, and behold, he is a declared quarreler?

Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Guardian of the risings.

and say: "This is nothing but a manifest illusion. When we are dead, earth and bones, shall we really be raised? And our earliest forefathers too?"

This was surely the manifest testing.

And among their descendants is one who does good, and one who manifestly wrongs himself.

And We gave them both the explicit Scripture,

Or do you have a manifest authority? Then bring your writing, if you are veracious.

And they have set up a lineage between Him and the Occulted;

And the court, among them, set out, saying: "Go, and remain firm toward your deities! This is surely something intended. We have not heard of this in the last doctrine; this is nothing but a creation out of whole cloth. Was the Reminder sent down upon him, out of all of us?"

Or do they own the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them?

we are two opposing parties, one of us has committed iniquity against the other; so judge between us with truth, without excess,

"O Dawud, We have made you a successor on earth; so judge among mankind with truth, and do not follow emotion, lest it lead you astray from the way of God,

We did not create the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain.

Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them,

nothing is revealed to me except that I am a clear warner."

God will indeed judge between them concerning that in which they differ,

is it not so: that is the manifest loss."

Those are in manifest error.

Say: "O God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of what escapes the senses and of what is witnessed, You alone will judge between Your obedient ones concerning that in which they used to differ."

And the earth will shine with the light of its Guardian; the record will be set down; the informants and the witnesses will be brought forward; it will be decided between them in truth, and they will not be wronged.

and it will be decided between them in truth,

That was because their messengers used to bring them clear proofs, but they disowned; so God seized them,

We certainly sent Moussa with Our signs and a manifest authority, to Fir'awn, Haman, and Qaroon; they said: "A worker of illusion, a great liar."

And a believing man from the clan of Fir'awn, who withheld his faith, said: "Will you kill a man for saying, 'My Guardian is God,' when he has brought you clear proofs from your Guardian? If he is lying, his lie is upon him; and if he is veracious, some of what he promises you will strike you,

Youssof certainly came to you before with clear proofs, and you did not cease to be in doubt about what he brought you, until, when he perished, you said: 'God will not raise up a messenger after him';

Those who grew proud will say: "We are indeed all in it; God has already judged between the obedient ones."

They will say: "Did your messengers not bring you clear proofs?" They will say: "Yes." They will say: "Then call."

Say: "I have indeed been forbidden to obey those you invoke besides God, since the clear proofs have come to me from my Guardian; and I have been commanded to be true to the Guardian of all beings alone."

Then, when their messengers brought them clear proofs, they rejoiced in the knowledge they possessed;

And they say: "Our cores are under coverings against what you call us to, and there is a deafness in our ears, and between us and you a veil. So act, for we too are acting."

If they turn away, say: "I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt of the Aad and the Thamud", when the messengers came to them, from before them and from behind them: "Obey none but God."

And We assigned to them acolytes who made attractive to them what was before them and what was behind them,

Repel with what is more beautiful; then the one between you and whom there was hostility will be like a warm friend.

Those who disown the Reminder when it has come to them… And it is surely an impregnable Scripture, which falsehood cannot reach from before it or from behind it,

and had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian, it would have been decided between them;

We will show them Our signs in the horizons and in themselves, until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.

out of iniquity among themselves.

And had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian until an appointed term, it would have been decided between them.

And say: "I believe in whatever Scripture God has sent down, and I have been commanded to be just between you.

there is no argument between us and you;

God will bring us together,

And were it not for the word of the Separation, it would have been decided between them;

and for those who answer their Guardian, maintain the Contact, conduct their affairs by conferring among themselves, and spend from what We have provided them;

By the clear Scripture! We have indeed made it a flawless Recitation, perhaps you will reason.

The human being is surely a great disowner, plainly so.

Is it then one who is brought up amid ornaments and who, in a quarrel, lacks clarity?

Rather, I granted enjoyment to these and to their ancestors, until truth came to them, and a clear messenger.

It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the present life, and elevated some of them above others in degree, so that some of them may take others into their service;

until, when the two of them come to Us, he says: "Would that between me and you there were the distance of the two risings!"

Is it you who will make the deaf hear, or guide the blind and whoever is in manifest error?

Or am I better than this one, who is contemptible and can hardly express himself clearly?

for he is for you a manifest enemy.

And when Issa came with the clear proofs, he said: "I have brought you wisdom, and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ;

Yet the parties diverged among themselves;

And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them;

By the clear Scripture! We indeed sent it down in a blessed night; We are warners.

the Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you are of those who know with certainty.

So watch for the day when the sky brings a clear smoke that covers mankind,

How would the reminder benefit them, when a clear messenger had come to them, then they turned their backs on him and said: "One taught, deranged"?

Before them, We tried the people of Fir'awn, and a noble messenger came to them: "Hand over to me the obedient ones of God; I am indeed for you a trustworthy messenger; and do not exalt yourselves against God — I bring you manifest authority; and I take refuge in my Guardian and yours against your banishing me; and if you do not give me credit, then keep away from me."

We indeed opted for them, knowingly, above all beings, and We gave them, among the signs, that which held a manifest testing.

We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in play.

We indeed gave the Sons of Israel the Scripture, the judgment, and the charge of informing; We provided them with wholesome things and favored them above all beings; and We gave them clear proofs concerning the Command.

out of iniquity among themselves.

Your Guardian will indeed decide between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning what they used to differ over.

And when Our clear signs are recited to them, their only argument is to say: "Bring back our forefathers, if you are veracious."

that is the manifest triumph.

We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, except in truth and for an appointed term.

And when Our clear signs are recited to them, those who disown say of the truth once it reaches them: "This is a manifest illusion."

He suffices as a witness between me and you.

And I am only a clear warner."

And remember the brother of the Aad, when he warned his people at the Ahqaf — warners had already passed before him and after him: "Obey none but God,

They said: "O our people, we have heard a Scripture sent down after Moussa, confirming what came before it, guiding to the truth and to a straight road.

Those are in manifest error."

Is he who stands upon clear evidence from his Guardian like one to whom the evil of his deed has been made appealing, and who follow their emotions?

Those who drew back after guidance had become clear to them — it is the Diverter who suggested it to them,

Those who disown, bar from the way of God, and set themselves in breach against the messenger after guidance has become clear to them, will not harm God in the least,

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. We have indeed opened for you a manifest opening, so that God may forgive you your past and future offenses, complete His blessing upon you, guide you along a straight path, and help you with a mighty help.

And those who are with him are severe toward those who disown, benevolent among themselves.

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O you who have believed! Do not put yourselves before God and His messenger.

O you who have believed! If an overstepper brings you a piece of information, distinguish clearly, lest you set upon a people out of ignorance and then become, over what you have done, full of regret.

And if two groups of believers fight each other, reconcile between them.

If it reverts, reconcile between them with justice, and be equitable,

The believers are but brothers; so reconcile between your two brothers.

We have indeed created the heavens and the earth, and what is between them, in six days, without any weariness touching Us.

And in Moussa: when We sent him to Fir'awn with manifest authority, he turned his back with his support, and said: "A worker of illusion, or a deranged one."

So flee to God: I am indeed to you, from Him, a clear warner.

And do not place, alongside God, another deity, for I am to you, from Him, a clear warner.

Then let their listener bring a manifest authority!

They said: "Shall we follow a single human from among us? We would then surely be in error and madness. Has the Reminder been cast upon him, out of all of us? Rather, he is a boastful liar."

And inform them that the water is to be shared between them,

He created the human being, He taught him clear expression.

He made the two seas flow together, meeting; between them a barrier; they do not encroach on each other.

This is Jahannam, which the severed used to deny; they will circulate between it and boiling water at its peak.

It is We who have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outrun in replacing you with your likenesses and bringing you into being in that which you do not know.

It is He who sends down upon His obedient one clear signs, to bring you out of the darknesses into the light.

The Day you will see the believing men and believing women, their light hurrying before them and on their right.

Then a rampart will be erected between them, having a gate, its interior containing benevolence, and its uncovered side, before it, containing punishment.

We have already made the signs clear to you, perhaps you will reason.

Know that the present life is but play, distraction, adornment, mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in accumulation of goods and children — like the example of a saving rain whose vegetation dazzles the sowers, then it dries up, and you see it turn yellow, then it becomes debris.

We have indeed sent Our messengers with clear proofs and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that men may maintain equity.

Yet We have sent down clear signs.

O you who have believed! When you hold secret talk with the messenger, advance charity before your secret talk.

Were you apprehensive about advancing acts of charity before your secret talks?

Whatever God restored to His messenger from the people of the cities belongs to God and the messenger, to relatives, orphans, the destitute, and the passing traveler, so that it does not rotate among the wealthy among you.

Their violence among themselves is formidable.

on the Day of Appearance He will separate between you.

You have had a fine paragon in Ibrahim and those with him, when they said to their people: "We are indeed quit of you and of what you obey besides God; we disown you, and there has appeared between us and you enmity and hatred forever, until you believe in God alone" — except the saying of Ibrahim to his father: "I will surely ask forgiveness for you, and I possess nothing for you against God."

It may be that God will place affection between you and those you have held as enemies among them,

That is the judgment of God; He judges between you.

O Informant! When believing women come to you to pledge allegiance to you that they will not associate anything with God, not steal, not commit fornication, not kill their children, not bring forth slander they have invented between their hands and feet, and not disobey you in what is recognized, accept their pledge and ask God's forgiveness for them,

And when Issa, son of Maryam, said: "O Sons of Israel! I am indeed the messenger of God sent to you, confirming what, of the Tawrah, precedes me, and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose attribute is: the most worthy of praise."

But when he brought them clear proofs, they said: "This is a manifest illusion."

It is He who raised among the people without a prior Scripture a messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His signs, purifying them, and teaching them the Scripture and wisdom, although they were surely, before, in manifest error — and others among them who have not yet joined them.

That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear proofs, but they said: "Shall humans guide us?"

But if you turn your backs, only the clear transmission is incumbent upon Our messenger.

nor should they leave, unless they commit a flagrant indecency.

Then, if they take the child into care for you, give them their rewards, and consult together according to what is recognized.

a messenger who recites to you God's clarifying signs, so as to bring those who have believed and done sound deeds out of the darknesses into the light.

The command descends among them, so that you may know that God is capable of all things, and that God encompasses all things in knowledge.

O you who have believed! Turn back to God with a sincere turning back. It may be that your Guardian will cover your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow, on the day when God will not disgrace the Informant nor those who believed with him; their light will hurry before them and on their right.

Say: "The knowledge is only with God; I am only a clear warner."

You will soon know who is in manifest error."

He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner: obey God, guard yourselves toward Him, and defer to me. He will forgive you some of your offenses and adjourn you until an appointed term,

Knower of what escapes the senses, and He uncovers none of it to anyone, except to a messenger He has approved of. He then makes lookouts go before him and behind him, so that He may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Guardian; and He encompasses whatever is with them and enumerates all things with exactness.

then, when We have read it, follow its recitation; then, indeed, upon Us is its explanation.

Guardian of the heavens and the earth and what is between them,

And he certainly saw him on the clear horizon.

He was created from a gushing water, emerging from between the loins and the bosom.

In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Those who disowned among the People of the Scripture and the associators were not to separate until the Clear Proof came to them:

And those who were given the Scripture did not become divided except after the Clear Proof came to them.
