The acts of charity are destined only for the poor, the destitute, those who administer them, those whose cores have been united, those under the burden of a debt, those indebted by an unforeseen expense, in the way of God, and the passing traveler — an obligation from God.
إِنَّمَا ٱلصَّدَقَٰتُ لِلْفُقَرَآءِ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَٱلْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَٱلْغَٰرِمِينَ وَفِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ فَرِيضَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ -

And among the notables are some who take what they spend as a forced levy, and anticipate setbacks of fate for you.
وَمِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ مَغْرَمًۭا وَيَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمُ ٱلدَّوَآئِرَ -

and those who say: "Our Guardian, turn away from us the punishment of Jahannam — for its punishment is an unforeseen levy;
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ٱصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا -

Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are heavily laden with debt?
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًۭا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍۢ مُّثْقَلُونَ -

If We willed, We could make it debris, and you would stay lamenting: "We are surely debt-laden! Rather, we are deprived."
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَٰهُ حُطَٰمًۭا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ -
