Al-Muzzammil
The Night and the Heavy Word
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. O you who are wrapped up! Stand the night, except a little — half of it, or subtract from it a little, or add to it — and recite the Recitation with measured, distinct recitation.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم يايها المزمل قم اليل الا قليلا نصفه او انقص منه قليلا او زد عليه ورتل القرءان ترتيلاIndeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.
انا سنلقي عليك قولا ثقيلاIndeed, the rising of the night is firmer in impact and more upright in speech.
ان ناشية اليل هي اشد وطا واقوم قيلاIndeed, you have during the day a long sailing [to and fro].
ان لك في النهار سبحا طويلاAnd remember the name of your Guardian and devote yourself to Him with complete devotion.
واذكر اسم ربك وتبتل اليه تبتيلاGuardian of the East and the West;
رب المشرق والمغربthere is no deity except Him;
لا اله الا هوso take Him as a trustee.
فاتخذه وكيلاAnd be patient over what they say
واصبر على ما يقولونand avoid them with gracious avoidance.
واهجرهم هجرا جميلاAnd leave Me with the deniers, those of ease, and allow them respite a little.
وذرني والمكذبين اولي النعمة ومهلهم قليلاIndeed, with Us are shackles and a Blaze, and food that chokes, and a painful punishment — on the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse, and the mountains will become a heap of poured-out sand.
ان لدينا انكالا وجحيما وطعاما ذا غصة وعذابا اليما يوم ترجف الارض والجبال وكانت الجبال كثيبا مهيلاIndeed, We have sent to you a messenger as a witness upon you, just as We sent to Fir'awn a messenger. But Fir'awn disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.
انا ارسلنا اليكم رسولا شهدا عليكم كما ارسلنا الى فرعون رسولا فعصى فرعون الرسول فاخذنه اخذا وبيلاThen how, if you disown, will you guard yourselves on a Day that will turn children gray-haired, a Day the heaven will break apart therefrom?
فكيف تتقون ان كفرتم يوما يجعل الولدن شيبا السماء منفطر بهHis promise is ever bound to be fulfilled.
كان وعده مفعولاIndeed, this is a reminder.
ان هذه تذكرةSo whoever wills may take, toward his Guardian, a way.
فمن شاء اتخذ الى ربه سبيلاIndeed, your Guardian knows that you stand a little less than two-thirds of the night, and of half of it, and of a third of it, as do a group of those with you.
ان ربك يعلم انك تقوم ادنى من ثلثى اليل ونصفه وثلثه وطايفة من الذين معكAnd God determines the night and the day.
والله يقدر اليل والنهارHe knows that you will never count it, so He has turned toward you with clemency.
علم ان لن تحصوه فتاب عليكمSo recite what is feasible of the Recitation.
فاقرءوا ما تيسر من القرءانHe knows that there will be among you sick, and others traveling throughout the land seeking of the favor of God, and others fighting in the cause of God.
علم ان سيكون منكم مرضى وءاخرون يضربون في الارض يبتغون من فضل الله وءاخرون يقتلون في سبيل اللهSo recite what is feasible from it,
فاقرءوا ما تيسر منهand maintain the Contact and give the purifying alms,
واقيموا الصلوة وءاتوا الزكوةand lend to God a goodly loan.
واقرضوا الله قرضا حسناAnd whatever good you put forth for yourselves, you will find it with God, better and greater in reward.
وما تقدموا لانفسكم من خير تجدوه عند الله هو خيرا واعظم اجراAnd seek forgiveness of God;
واستغفروا اللهindeed, God is Most-Forgiving, Benevolent.
ان الله غفور رحيم
