Al-Inshiqaq
Toiling Toward the Guardian
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. When the sky splits open, and listens to its Guardian — and it is obligated to do so —, and when the earth is extended, and casts out what is within it and empties itself, and listens to its Guardian — and it is obligated to do so.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم اذا السماء انشقت واذنت لربها وحقت واذا الارض مدت والقت ما فيها وتخلت واذنت لربها وحقتO human being! Indeed, you are laboring toward your Guardian with great exertion and will meet Him.
يايها الانسن انك كادح الى ربك كدحا فملقيهThen as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will be reckoned an easy reckoning, and return to his people in joy.
فاما من اوتي كتبه بيمينه فسوف يحاسب حسابا يسيرا وينقلب الى اهله مسروراBut as for him who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for destruction, and he will burn in an inferno.
واما من اوتي كتبه وراء ظهره فسوف يدعوا ثبورا ويصلى سعيراIndeed, he had been joyful among his people.
انه كان في اهله مسروراIndeed, he thought he would never return. But yes!
انه ظن ان لن يحور بلىIndeed, his Guardian was ever All-Seeing of him.
ان ربه كان به بصيراNo! I swear by the twilight glow, and by the night and what it envelops, and by the moon when it becomes full! You will surely embark upon state after state.
فلا اقسم بالشفق واليل وما وسق والقمر اذا اتسق لتركبن طبقا عن طبقSo what is the matter with them that they do not believe? And when the Recitation is read to them, they do not prostrate?
فما لهم لا يومنون واذا قري عليهم القرءان لا يسجدونRather, those who have disowned deny, and God knows best what they keep within.
بل الذين كفروا يكذبون والله اعلم بما يوعونSo give them the tidings of a painful punishment,
فبشرهم بعذاب اليمexcept for those who have believed and done righteous deeds; for them is a reward never interrupted.
الا الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت لهم اجر غير ممنون
