Al-Buruj
The Companions of the Trench
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent.
By the sky containing constellations! And by the promised Day! And by a witness and what is witnessed! May the companions of the trench perish, of the fire richly fueled, when they sat around it, and were witnesses to what they were doing to the believers.
والسماء ذات البروج واليوم الموعود وشاهد ومشهود قتل اصحب الاخدود النار ذات الوقود اذ هم عليها قعود وهم على ما يفعلون بالمومنين شهود
And they resented them for nothing except that they believed in God, the All-Powerful, the Praiseworthy, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.
وما نقموا منهم الا ان يومنوا بالله العزيز الحميد الذي له ملك السموت والارض
And God is witness over all things.
والله على كل شىء شهيد
Indeed, those who put to trial the believing men and believing women and then did not repent will have the punishment of Jahannam, and they will have the punishment of the burning fire.
ان الذين فتنوا المومنين والمومنت ثم لم يتوبوا فلهم عذاب جهنم ولهم عذاب الحريق
Indeed, those who have believed and done sound deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow.
ان الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت لهم جنت تجري من تحتها الانهر
That is the great triumph.
ذلك الفوز الكبير
Surely, the strike of your Guardian is severe.
ان بطش ربك لشديد
Indeed, it is He who begins and remakes.
انه هو يبدي ويعيد
And He is the Most-Forgiving, the Loving, Holder of the Edifice,
وهو الغفور الودود ذو العرش
the Glorious, ever doing what He wants.
المجيد فعال لما يريد
Has the discourse concerning the armies, of Fir'awn and the Thamud, reached you?
هل اتىك حديث الجنود فرعون وثمود
Rather, those who have disowned persist in denial, and God encompasses them from behind.
بل الذين كفروا في تكذيب والله من ورايهم محيط
Rather, it is a glorious Recitation, upon a Preserved Tablet.
