The Abode of Peace
In the name of God, the All-Benevolent, the Benevolent. Alif. Lam. Ra.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الرThese are the signs of the Scripture full of wisdom.
تلك ءايت الكتب الحكيمIs it then a wonder for people that We revealed to a man among them: "Warn mankind,"
اكان للناس عجبا ان اوحينا الى رجل منهم ان انذر الناسand give good news to those who have believed that they have, with their Guardian, a firm standing of truth?
وبشر الذين ءامنوا ان لهم قدم صدق عند ربهمThose who disown say: "This is surely a manifest illusion."
قال الكفرون ان هذا لسحر مبينYour Guardian is indeed God, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself upon the Edifice.
ان ربكم الله الذي خلق السموت والارض في ستة ايام ثم استوى على العرشHe governs the Order.
يدبر الامرNo intercessor except after His permission.
ما من شفيع الا من بعد اذنهThat is God, your Guardian.
ذلكم الله ربكمSo obey Him.
فاعبدوهWill you not then remember?
افلا تذكرونTo Him will be your return, all together.
اليه مرجعكم جميعاIt is God's promise, in truth.
وعد الله حقاIt is indeed He who begins creation, then remakes it, so as to recompense with equity those who believed and did righteous deeds.
انه يبدوا الخلق ثم يعيده ليجزي الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت بالقسطAs for those who disowned, they will have a scalding drink and a painful punishment, for having disowned.
والذين كفروا لهم شراب من حميم وعذاب اليم بما كانوا يكفرونIt is He who made the sun a brightness and the moon a light, and appointed it stations, so that you might know the count of years and the reckoning.
هو الذي جعل الشمس ضياء والقمر نورا وقدره منازل لتعلموا عدد السنين والحسابGod created that in nothing but truth.
ما خلق الله ذلك الا بالحقThus He details the signs for a people who know.
يفصل الءايت لقوم يعلمونIn the alternation of night and day, and in what God created in the heavens and the earth, there are surely signs for a people who guard themselves.
ان في اختلف اليل والنهار وما خلق الله في السموت والارض لءايت لقوم يتقونThose who do not hope for Our meeting, who were content with the present life and found ease in it, and those who are heedless of Our signs — their refuge will be the Fire, for what they used to earn.
ان الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا ورضوا بالحيوة الدنيا واطمانوا بها والذين هم عن ءايتنا غفلون اوليك ماوىهم النار بما كانوا يكسبونThose who believed and did righteous deeds, their Guardian guides them by reason of their faith.
ان الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت يهديهم ربهم بايمنهمBeneath them rivers will flow, in the Gardens of bliss.
تجري من تحتهم الانهر في جنت النعيمTheir cry there will be: "Glory be to You, O God!"
دعوىهم فيها سبحنك اللهمAnd their greeting there will be: "Peace".
وتحيتهم فيها سلمAnd the end of their cry will be: "Praise be to God, Guardian of all beings."
وءاخر دعوىهم ان الحمد لله رب العلمينIf God hastened evil for people as they hasten [the arrival of] good, their term would already have been settled for them.
ولو يعجل الله للناس الشر استعجالهم بالخير لقضي اليهم اجلهمSo We leave those who do not hope for Our meeting to wander blindly in their excess.
فنذر الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا في طغينهم يعمهونAnd when hardship touches the human being, he calls upon Us lying on his side, sitting, or standing;
واذا مس الانسن الضر دعانا لجنبه او قاعدا او قايماthen, when We have removed his hardship from him, he goes his way as if he had never called upon Us for a hardship that had touched him.
فلما كشفنا عنه ضره مر كان لم يدعنا الى ضر مسهThus were embellished, for the excessive ones, the deeds they used to do.
كذلك زين للمسرفين ما كانوا يعملونWe annihilated the generations before you as soon as they committed injustice, even though their messengers had come to them with clear proofs;
ولقد اهلكنا القرون من قبلكم لما ظلموا وجاءتهم رسلهم بالبينتbut they were not disposed to believe.
وما كانوا ليومنواThus do We recompense the severed people.
كذلك نجزي القوم المجرمينThen We made you successors on the earth, after them, so as to see how you would act.
ثم جعلنكم خليف في الارض من بعدهم لننظر كيف تعملونAnd when Our signs are recited to them, wholly explicit, those who do not hope for Our meeting say: "Bring a Recitation other than this one, or change it."
واذا تتلى عليهم ءاياتنا بينت قال الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا ايت بقرءان غير هذا او بدلهSay: "It is not for me to change it of my own accord;
قل ما يكون لي ان ابدله من تلقاي نفسيI only follow what is revealed to me.
ان اتبع الا ما يوحى الىI fear, if I disobeyed my Guardian, the punishment of an immense day."
اني اخاف ان عصيت ربي عذاب يوم عظيمSay: "Had God willed, I would not have recited it to you, nor would He have made it known to you.
قل لو شاء الله ما تلوته عليكم ولا ادرىكم بهI dwelt among you a whole lifetime before it, after all.
فقد لبثت فيكم عمرا من قبلهWill you not then reason?"
افلا تعقلونWho is then more unjust than one who invents a lie against God, or denies His signs?
فمن اظلم ممن افترى على الله كذبا او كذب بايتهThe severed do not succeed.
انه لا يفلح المجرمونThey obey, besides God, what neither harms nor benefits them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with God."
ويعبدون من دون الله ما لا يضرهم ولا ينفعهم ويقولون هولاء شفعونا عند اللهSay: "Do you inform God of what He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?"
قل اتنبون الله بما لا يعلم في السموت ولا في الارضGlory be to Him! He is far above what they associate with Him.
سبحنه وتعلى عما يشركونMankind was but one single community, then they diverged.
وما كان الناس الا امة وحدة فاختلفواAnd had it not been for a word that preceded from your Guardian, it would already have been settled between them concerning what they differ over.
ولولا كلمة سبقت من ربك لقضي بينهم فيما فيه يختلفونAnd they say: "Why has no sign been sent down to him from his Guardian?"
ويقولون لولا انزل عليه ءاية من ربهSay: "What escapes the senses belongs exclusively to God.
فقل انما الغيب للهSo wait:
فانتظرواI am indeed, with you, among those who wait."
اني معكم من المنتظرينAnd when We let people taste a benevolence after a hardship that had touched them, there they are, plotting against Our signs.
واذا اذقنا الناس رحمة من بعد ضراء مستهم اذا لهم مكر في ءاياتناSay: "God is swifter in plotting."
قل الله اسرع مكراOur envoys write down what you plot.
ان رسلنا يكتبون ما تمكرونIt is He who makes you travel on land and sea,
هو الذي يسيركم في البر والبحرuntil, when you are in the ship and it sails with them by a favorable wind, and they rejoice in it, a violent wind comes upon them, the swell comes at them from every side, and they think they are surrounded — then they call upon God, devoting the Law exclusively to Him: "If You save us from this, we will surely be among the grateful."
حتى اذا كنتم في الفلك وجرين بهم بريح طيبة وفرحوا بها جاءتها ريح عاصف وجاءهم الموج من كل مكان وظنوا انهم احيط بهم دعوا الله مخلصين له الدين لين انجيتنا من هذه لنكونن من الشكرينBut as soon as He saves them, there they are, committing aggression on earth, without right.
فلما انجىهم اذا هم يبغون في الارض بغير الحقO mankind! your aggression falls back only upon yourselves,
يايها الناس انما بغيكم على انفسكمan enjoyment of the present life;
متع الحيوة الدنياthen to Us will be your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do.
ثم الينا مرجعكم فننبيكم بما كنتم تعملونThe likeness of the present life is that of water which We send down from the sky, and which mingles
انما مثل الحيوة الدنيا كماء انزلنه من السماء فاختلطwith the vegetation of the earth, from which men and cattle eat,
به نبات الارض مما ياكل الناس والانعمuntil, when the earth has taken on its adornment and become embellished, and its people think they have mastery over it, Our command comes to it, by night or by day, and We make it a mown field, as if it had not flourished the day before.
حتى اذا اخذت الارض زخرفها وازينت وظن اهلها انهم قدرون عليها اتىها امرنا ليلا او نهارا فجعلنها حصيدا كان لم تغن بالامسThus do We detail the signs for a people who reflect.
كذلك نفصل الءايت لقوم يتفكرونGod calls to the Abode of Peace, and He guides whom He wills to a straight path.
والله يدعوا الى دار السلم ويهدي من يشاء الى صرط مستقيمTo those who do good belongs the best reward, and even more;
للذين احسنوا الحسنى وزيادةneither dark dust nor humiliation will veil their faces.
ولا يرهق وجوههم قتر ولا ذلةThose are the companions of the Garden,
اوليك اصحب الجنةthey will abide therein eternally.
هم فيها خلدونAs for those who committed evil deeds, the recompense of an evil deed will be its equivalent, and humiliation will cover them; they will have no preserver against God — as if their faces were covered with strips of dark night.
والذين كسبوا السيات جزاء سيية بمثلها وترهقهم ذلة ما لهم من الله من عاصم كانما اغشيت وجوههم قطعا من اليل مظلماThose are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally.
اوليك اصحب النار هم فيها خلدونOn the day when We gather them all together, then say to those who associated: "Stay in your place, you and your associates" — then We will separate them from one another,
ويوم نحشرهم جميعا ثم نقول للذين اشركوا مكانكم انتم وشركاوكم فزيلنا بينهمand their associates will say: "It was not us that you obeyed."
وقال شركاوهم ما كنتم ايانا تعبدونGod suffices as a witness between us and you: we were indeed heedless of your obedience.
فكفى بالله شهيدا بيننا وبينكم ان كنا عن عبادتكم لغفلينThere, every Self will experience what it did before,
هنالك تبلوا كل نفس ما اسلفتand they will be returned to God, their true nearest Guarantor,
وردوا الى الله مولىهم الحقand what they used to invent will have strayed away from them.
وضل عنهم ما كانوا يفترونSay: "Who provides for you from the sky and the earth?
قل من يرزقكم من السماء والارضOr who holds mastery over hearing and sight, who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and who governs the Order?"
امن يملك السمع والابصر ومن يخرج الحى من الميت ويخرج الميت من الحى ومن يدبر الامرThey will say: "God."
فسيقولون اللهThen say: "Will you not then guard yourselves?"
فقل افلا تتقونThat is God, your Guardian, the True.
فذلكم الله ربكم الحقAfter the truth, what is there but error?
فماذا بعد الحق الا الضللHow then can you be turned away?
فانى تصرفونThus did the word of your Guardian prove true concerning the oversteppers: they do not believe.
كذلك حقت كلمت ربك على الذين فسقوا انهم لا يومنونSay: "Is there, among your associates, one who begins creation then remakes it?"
قل هل من شركايكم من يبدوا الخلق ثم يعيدهSay: "God begins creation, then remakes it.
قل الله يبدوا الخلق ثم يعيدهHow then can you be turned away from the truth?"
فانى توفكونSay: "Is there, among your associates, one who guides to the truth?"
قل هل من شركايكم من يهدي الى الحقSay: "God guides to the truth.
قل الله يهدي للحقIs one who guides to the truth more worthy of being followed, or one who does not guide himself unless he is guided?
افمن يهدي الى الحق احق ان يتبع امن لا يهدي الا ان يهدىWhat is with you then? How do you judge?"
فما لكم كيف تحكمونMost of them follow nothing but conjecture;
وما يتبع اكثرهم الا ظناand conjecture does not avail at all against the truth.
ان الظن لا يغني من الحق شياGod is indeed All-Knowing of what they do.
ان الله عليم بما يفعلونThis Recitation was not something that could have been invented besides God;
وما كان هذا القرءان ان يفترى من دون اللهrather, it confirms what precedes it, and it details the Code — with no doubt possible — from the Guardian of all beings.
ولكن تصديق الذي بين يديه وتفصيل الكتب لا ريب فيه من رب العلمينWill they say: "He invented it"?
ام يقولون افترىهSay: "Bring then a surah like it,
قل فاتوا بسورة مثلهand call upon whomever you can, besides God, if you are truthful."
وادعوا من استطعتم من دون الله ان كنتم صدقينIn reality, they denied what they did not encompass in knowledge, and whose interpretation had not yet come to them.
بل كذبوا بما لم يحيطوا بعلمه ولما ياتهم تاويلهThus did those before them deny.
كذلك كذب الذين من قبلهمSo look how the end of the wrongdoers was.
فانظر كيف كان عقبة الظلمينAmong them are some who believe in it, and some who do not believe in it;
ومنهم من يومن به ومنهم من لا يومن بهyour Guardian knows best the corrupters.
وربك اعلم بالمفسدينAnd if they deny you, say: "To me my deed, and to you your deed; you are clear of what I do, and I am clear of what you do."
وان كذبوك فقل لي عملي ولكم عملكم انتم بريون مما اعمل وانا بريء مما تعملونAmong them are some who listen to you —
ومنهم من يستمعون اليكbut will you make the deaf hear, even though they do not reason?
افانت تسمع الصم ولو كانوا لا يعقلونAnd among them are some who look at you —
ومنهم من ينظر اليكbut will you guide the blind, even though they do not see?
افانت تهدي العمي ولو كانوا لا يبصرونGod does no wrong to people, in anything;
ان الله لا يظلم الناس شياit is people who wrong themselves.
ولكن الناس انفسهم يظلمونOn the day He gathers them, as if they had remained but an hour of the day, they will recognize one another.
ويوم يحشرهم كان لم يلبثوا الا ساعة من النهار يتعارفون بينهمThey are indeed losers, those who denied the meeting with God, and they did not let themselves be guided.
قد خسر الذين كذبوا بلقاء الله وما كانوا مهتدينWhether We show you part of what We promise them, or We take you back to Us, to Us will be their return;
واما نرينك بعض الذي نعدهم او نتوفينك فالينا مرجعهمGod is thereafter a witness over what they do.
ثم الله شهيد على ما يفعلونTo every community, a messenger.
ولكل امة رسولAnd when their messenger came, it was settled between them with equity, and they were not wronged.
فاذا جاء رسولهم قضي بينهم بالقسط وهم لا يظلمونAnd they say: "When will this promise be, if you are truthful?"
ويقولون متى هذا الوعد ان كنتم صدقينSay: "I hold, for myself, neither harm nor benefit, except what God wills.
قل لا املك لنفسي ضرا ولا نفعا الا ما شاء اللهTo every community a term.
لكل امة اجلWhen their term arrives, they cannot delay it by an hour,
اذا جاء اجلهم فلا يستخرون ساعةnor advance it."
ولا يستقدمونSay: "What do you think? If His punishment came upon you by night or by day, what is it the severed would want to hasten?
قل ارءيتم ان اتىكم عذابه بيتا او نهارا ماذا يستعجل منه المجرمونIs it then only once it has happened that you will believe in it?
اثم اذا ما وقع ءامنتم بهNow?! when you used to seek to hasten it!
ءالن وقد كنتم به تستعجلونThen it will be said to those who did wrong: "Taste the punishment of eternity;
ثم قيل للذين ظلموا ذوقوا عذاب الخلدare you recompensed except for what you used to earn?"
هل تجزون الا بما كنتم تكسبونThey ask you: "Is it truly so?"
ويستنبونك احق هوSay: "Yes, by my Guardian! It is surely so, and you will not be able to render [Him] powerless."
قل اي وربي انه لحق وما انتم بمعجزينAnd if every unjust Self possessed all that is on earth, it would ransom itself with it.
ولو ان لكل نفس ظلمت ما في الارض لافتدت بهAnd they will conceal their regret upon seeing the punishment, and it will be settled between them with equity, and they will not be wronged.
واسروا الندامة لما راوا العذاب وقضي بينهم بالقسط وهم لا يظلمونIs it not so! Indeed, to God belongs what is in the heavens and on the earth.
الا ان لله ما في السموت والارضIs it not so: God's promise is true;
الا ان وعد الله حقbut most of them do not know.
ولكن اكثرهم لا يعلمونIt is He who gives life and causes death,
هو يحي ويميتand to Him you will be returned.
واليه ترجعونO mankind! an admonition has come to you from your Guardian, a healing for what is in the chests, a guidance and a benevolence for the believers.
يايها الناس قد جاءتكم موعظة من ربكم وشفاء لما في الصدور وهدى ورحمة للمومنينSay: "It is by God's favor and by His benevolence — let them rejoice in that!
قل بفضل الله وبرحمته فبذلك فليفرحواThat is better than what they amass."
هو خير مما يجمعونSay: "What do you think? Of what God sent down for you as provision, you made some of it forbidden and some lawful —
قل ارءيتم ما انزل الله لكم من رزق فجعلتم منه حراما وحللاsay: Is it God who permitted you, or is it against God that you invent?"
قل ءالله اذن لكم ام على الله تفترونWhat will they think, on the Day of Appearance, those who invent the lie against God?
وما ظن الذين يفترون على الله الكذب يوم القيمةGod surely holds a favor toward mankind,
ان الله لذو فضل على الناسbut most of them are not grateful.
ولكن اكثرهم لا يشكرونYou are not in any situation, nor do you recite any Recitation from it, nor do you do any deed, without Our being witnesses over you when you engage in it.
وما تكون في شان وما تتلوا منه من قرءان ولا تعملون من عمل الا كنا عليكم شهودا اذ تفيضون فيهNothing escapes your Guardian, even the weight of a grain on earth or in the sky,
وما يعزب عن ربك من مثقال ذرة في الارض ولا في السماءnothing smaller or greater that is not in a clear register.
ولا اصغر من ذلك ولا اكبر الا في كتب مبينIs it not so: the allies of God have nothing to fear, and they will not grieve,
الا ان اولياء الله لا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزنونthose who believed and used to guard themselves.
الذين ءامنوا وكانوا يتقونTo them the good news, in the present life and in the last life.
لهم البشرى في الحيوة الدنيا وفي الءاخرةNo change to God's words.
لا تبديل لكلمت اللهThat is the immense triumph.
ذلك هو الفوز العظيمLet not their speech grieve you:
ولا يحزنك قولهمpower belongs to God in its entirety.
ان العزة لله جميعاHe is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
هو السميع العليمIs it not so: to God belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth;
الا ان لله من في السموت ومن في الارضwhat then do those who invoke, besides God, associates, follow?
وما يتبع الذين يدعون من دون الله شركاءThey follow nothing but conjecture,
ان يتبعون الا الظنand they do nothing but engage in baseless guesswork.
وان هم الا يخرصونIt is He who made for you the night so that you might rest in it, and the day for seeing clearly.
هو الذي جعل لكم اليل لتسكنوا فيه والنهار مبصراThere are surely in that signs for a people who listen.
ان في ذلك لءايت لقوم يسمعونThey say: "God has taken a child."
قالوا اتخذ الله ولداGlory be to Him!
سبحنهHe is self-sufficient.
هو الغنيTo Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth.
له ما في السموت وما في الارضYou have no authority for this.
ان عندكم من سلطن بهذاWill you say about God what you do not know?
اتقولون على الله ما لا تعلمونSay: "Those who invent the lie against God do not succeed."
قل ان الذين يفترون على الله الكذب لا يفلحونAn enjoyment in the present life,
متع في الدنياthen to Us will be their return; then We will make them taste the severe punishment, for having disowned.
ثم الينا مرجعهم ثم نذيقهم العذاب الشديد بما كانوا يكفرونRecite to them the information concerning Nuh, when he said to his people: "O my people! if my standing among you and my reminder of God's signs weigh upon you, it is upon God that I rely.
واتل عليهم نبا نوح اذ قال لقومه يقوم ان كان كبر عليكم مقامي وتذكيري بايت الله فعلى الله توكلتSo gather your resolve and your associates,
فاجمعوا امركم وشركاءكمlet your resolve no longer be, for you, a confused matter,
ثم لا يكن امركم عليكم غمةthen carry it out against me, and grant me no respite."
ثم اقضوا الى ولا تنظرونIf you turn away, I have not asked you for any reward;
فان توليتم فما سالتكم من اجرmy reward is incumbent only upon God,
ان اجري الا على اللهand I have been commanded to be among those true to God alone.
وامرت ان اكون من المسلمينBut they denied him; We saved him, and those with him in the ship, and We made them successors,
فكذبوه فنجينه ومن معه في الفلك وجعلنهم خليفand We drowned those who had denied Our signs.
واغرقنا الذين كذبوا بايتناSo look how the end of those who had been warned turned out.
فانظر كيف كان عقبة المنذرينThen, after him, We sent messengers to their respective peoples; they brought them clear proofs, but they were not disposed to believe what they had first denied.
ثم بعثنا من بعده رسلا الى قومهم فجاءوهم بالبينت فما كانوا ليومنوا بما كذبوا به من قبلThus do We seal the cores of those who cross the limits.
كذلك نطبع على قلوب المعتدينThen, after them, We sent Moussa and Harun to Fir'awn and his court, with Our signs; but they were arrogant and were a severed people.
ثم بعثنا من بعدهم موسى وهرون الى فرعون وملايه بايتنا فاستكبروا وكانوا قوما مجرمينWhen the truth came to them from Us, they said: "This is surely a manifest illusion."
فلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا قالوا ان هذا لسحر مبينMoussa said: "Do you say this of the truth, once it has come to you?
قال موسى اتقولون للحق لما جاءكمIs this illusion?
اسحر هذاBut illusion-makers do not succeed."
ولا يفلح السحرونThey said: "Have you come to us to turn us away from what we found our ancestors upon, and so that greatness, on earth, would belong to you both? We will not believe in you two."
قالوا اجيتنا لتلفتنا عما وجدنا عليه ءاباءنا وتكون لكما الكبرياء في الارض وما نحن لكما بمومنينFir'awn said: "Bring me every knowledgeable illusion-maker."
وقال فرعون ايتوني بكل سحر عليمWhen the illusion-makers came, Moussa said to them: "Throw what you have to throw."
فلما جاء السحرة قال لهم موسى القوا ما انتم ملقونWhen they had thrown, Moussa said: "What you have brought is illusion;
فلما القوا قال موسى ما جيتم به السحرGod will indeed nullify it.
ان الله سيبطلهGod does not make the work of corrupters prosper."
ان الله لا يصلح عمل المفسدينAnd God establishes the truth by His words, however much the severed detest it.
ويحق الله الحق بكلمته ولو كره المجرمونNone gave credit to Moussa except a lineage of his people, in fear of Fir'awn and their court, lest he try them.
فما ءامن لموسى الا ذرية من قومه على خوف من فرعون وملايهم ان يفتنهمFir'awn was surely highly placed on earth,
وان فرعون لعال في الارضand he was surely among the excessive ones.
وانه لمن المسرفينMoussa said: "O my people, if you believe in God, rely upon Him, if you are true to God alone."
وقال موسى يقوم ان كنتم ءامنتم بالله فعليه توكلوا ان كنتم مسلمينThey said: "It is upon God that we rely.
فقالوا على الله توكلناOur Guardian, do not make us a trial for the wrongdoing people,
ربنا لا تجعلنا فتنة للقوم الظلمينand save us, by Your benevolence, from the people who disown."
ونجنا برحمتك من القوم الكفرينWe revealed to Moussa and his brother: "Establish houses for your people in Egypt; make your houses an anchor point; and maintain the Contact."
واوحينا الى موسى واخيه ان تبوءا لقومكما بمصر بيوتا واجعلوا بيوتكم قبلة واقيموا الصلوةAnd give good news to the believers.
وبشر المومنينMoussa said: "Our Guardian, You have given Fir'awn and his court adornment and goods in the present life,
وقال موسى ربنا انك ءاتيت فرعون وملاه زينة وامولا في الحيوة الدنياour Guardian, so that they may lead astray from Your path.
ربنا ليضلوا عن سبيلكOur Guardian, obliterate their goods and harden their cores, so that they do not believe until they see the painful punishment."
ربنا اطمس على امولهم واشدد على قلوبهم فلا يومنوا حتى يروا العذاب الاليمHe said: "Your invocation is answered; so stand you both straight,
قال قد اجيبت دعوتكما فاستقيماand do not follow the path of those who do not know."
ولا تتبعان سبيل الذين لا يعلمونWe made the Sons of Israel cross the sea; Fir'awn and his armies pursued them in aggression and hostility,
وجوزنا ببني اسرءيل البحر فاتبعهم فرعون وجنوده بغيا وعدواuntil, when the drowning overtook him, he said: "I believe that there is no deity but He in whom the Sons of Israel have believed, and I am among those true to God alone."
حتى اذا ادركه الغرق قال ءامنت انه لا اله الا الذي ءامنت به بنوا اسرءيل وانا من المسلمين"Now?! when you disobeyed before, and were among the corrupters!
ءالن وقد عصيت قبل وكنت من المفسدينToday, then, We save you as to your body, so that you may be a sign for those who come after you."
فاليوم ننجيك ببدنك لتكون لمن خلفك ءايةBut many people are surely heedless of Our signs.
وان كثيرا من الناس عن ءايتنا لغفلونWe settled the Sons of Israel in a true dwelling, and We provided them with good things as sustenance; they did not diverge until the knowledge had come to them.
ولقد بوانا بني اسرءيل مبوا صدق ورزقنهم من الطيبت فما اختلفوا حتى جاءهم العلمYour Guardian will indeed settle between them, on the Day of Appearance, concerning what they used to differ over.
ان ربك يقضي بينهم يوم القيمة فيما كانوا فيه يختلفونIf you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, ask those who read the Scripture before you.
فان كنت في شك مما انزلنا اليك فسل الذين يقرءون الكتب من قبلكThe truth has certainly come to you from your Guardian;
لقد جاءك الحق من ربكso never be among those who doubt.
فلا تكونن من الممترينAnd do not be among those who denied the signs of God, you would then be among the losers.
ولا تكونن من الذين كذبوا بايت الله فتكون من الخسرينThose on whom the word of your Guardian has proven true will not believe, even if every sign came to them, until they see the painful punishment.
ان الذين حقت عليهم كلمت ربك لا يومنون ولو جاءتهم كل ءاية حتى يروا العذاب الاليمWas there ever a city that believed and whose faith benefited it — except the people of Younes! When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the present life, and We granted them enjoyment until a term.
فلولا كانت قرية ءامنت فنفعها ايمنها الا قوم يونس لما ءامنوا كشفنا عنهم عذاب الخزي في الحيوة الدنيا ومتعنهم الى حينHad your Guardian willed, all those on earth would have believed, all of them together.
ولو شاء ربك لءامن من في الارض كلهم جميعاIs it you who would compel people to become believers?
افانت تكره الناس حتى يكونوا مومنينIt is not for any Self to believe except with God's permission,
وما كان لنفس ان تومن الا باذن اللهand He places defilement upon those who do not reason.
ويجعل الرجس على الذين لا يعقلونSay: "Look at what is in the heavens and the earth" — but of what avail are signs and warnings to a people who do not believe?
قل انظروا ماذا في السموت والارض وما تغني الءايت والنذر عن قوم لا يومنونWhat then do they await, but the like of the days of those who came before them?
فهل ينتظرون الا مثل ايام الذين خلوا من قبلهمSay: "Wait then, I am, with you, among those who wait."
قل فانتظروا اني معكم من المنتظرينThen We save Our messengers, and those who believed — thus;
ثم ننجي رسلنا والذين ءامنوا كذلكit is a duty upon Us to save the believers.
حقا علينا ننج المومنينSay: "O mankind! if you are in doubt about my Law, I do not obey those you obey besides God,
قل يايها الناس ان كنتم في شك من ديني فلا اعبد الذين تعبدون من دون اللهbut I obey God, who will recall you to Him.
ولكن اعبد الله الذي يتوفىكمAnd I have been commanded to be among the believers,
وامرت ان اكون من المومنينand: "Set your direction toward the Law, wholly turned toward God,
وان اقم وجهك للدين حنيفاand never be among those who associate."
ولا تكونن من المشركينDo not invoke, besides God, what neither benefits nor harms you;
ولا تدع من دون الله ما لا ينفعك ولا يضركif you did so, you would then be among the wrongdoers.
فان فعلت فانك اذا من الظلمينIf God touches you with harm, none can remove it but Him;
وان يمسسك الله بضر فلا كاشف له الا هوand if He wills good for you, none can repel His favor.
وان يردك بخير فلا راد لفضلهHe grants it to whom He wills among His obedient ones.
يصيب به من يشاء من عبادهHe is the Most-Forgiving, the Benevolent.
وهو الغفور الرحيمSay: "O mankind! the truth has come to you from your Guardian;
قل يايها الناس قد جاءكم الحق من ربكمwhoever is guided is guided only for himself,
فمن اهتدى فانما يهتدي لنفسهand whoever strays only strays to his own detriment.
ومن ضل فانما يضل عليهاAnd I am not, for you, a trustee."
وما انا عليكم بوكيلFollow what is revealed to you, and be patient until God judges.
واتبع ما يوحى اليك واصبر حتى يحكم اللهHe is the best of judges.
وهو خير الحكمين
